Barbara We don't invite people to eat at our house for lots of reasons, some the same as yours. The last person who had a meal at our house with us was my morning dog walking friend who also cuts Jake's hair. She is vaccinated and comes into our house every morning. Jake wanted to do something to thank her for cutting his hair so she rode with us to the Taco Time drive through and selected her meal that he paid for and we brought our food back to the house and ate together.
Tracey, one of the questions asked by one of the attorneys at jury selection was "would you have trouble judging someone?" No one said yes, but you would have had the chance to speak up. Since a jury is 12 people, it doesn't seem so judgmental to me because I'd be with others to make the decision based on a lot of evidence that we all heard together.
Heather, going to Nottingham seems like an adventure into Fantasyland.
My father thought soft boiled eggs on toast with Clamato juice was the meal to solve all ills.

Some bits of Nottingham are very touristy and 'heritage', but it's just a nice, normal, working city with a University. Where my son lives is 'up and coming' and is getting more trendy by the minute. He lives with his girlfriend in a lovely enclave of very old houses that used to be an old village with a cobbler and a blacksmith. Their house is 1871, quite new!
When I am sick, I like a bowl of white rice, plain boiled, with freshly ground black pepper.

Barbara--DH doesn't have Covid anymore, what he has is side effects of Covid and the vaccine shots. Worse part is no one can tell if these is something that will get better with time or if it will get worse.
Lisa--glad you are home resting and pray the meds heal and no more problems.
Beth--Glad to hear you got the go ahead to do more, but baby steps. Easier said than done, I understand as I find I still have to be careful with my back.
Heather--Happy to hear your visit is going well. Very nice picture and everyone looks for happy.
Katla--Great news that you are at son's and getting to enjoy the grandbabies.
Well I am working 6a-6p today. By myself so able to get somethings done. DH and DD are cooking and will go over to her house when I get off. DS and family will be there. Hope to be home early and get to bed as work the next 2 days also. So much for full staff.
Happy Thanksgiving! Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND,NE4 -
Made it to Iowa. Spent last night in Illinois. Colby's mom should be here today. Jess shared with me last night that his mother has only been here one other time and I remember that was years ago when she lived in Virginia. His mother evidently doesn't approve of the fact they live together. Think I'll text Denise and Pete happy Thanksgiving. Going over to jess' later today. There's a football game tomorrow so I understand that the hotel is booked.
Tracey we do have ties like you described only by a different name. But how did you get the candy canes hung without putting a hole in your house?
Welcome to the newbie (I forget your name..so sorry)

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate

Time for my pre-event jitters. I chopped up a huge bowl of mushrooms to go in the green bean dish. They will cook down; no telling how much I will have. I bought three bags of frozen beans. I think I overdid that for seven people. I should have made a practice dish a month ago but I only found out what I was bringing the other day. Oh well, how bad can it be? The hard part is faking the cream of mushroom soup because too many of us can't have cream.
Meanwhile, happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate!

Limp, stringy, not crunchy. Note to self: do NOT buy frozen asparagus unless you plan to puree into cream of asparagus soup.
Lighter, lovelies!

Hope those celebrating Thanksgiving are having a joyous day.
Vicki, thank you so much.
Heather, your son's smile is the spitting image of yours. So pleased you had a lovely time.
Allie, hope you're feeling better!
Katla, I hope your visit is wonderful, and so happy that you have this time with family and a new little one.
@klou6 - nice to meet you! Come back often, and let us know about where you are and what you'd like us to call you.
Machka - Every time I see the word "wombat," I smile.
Foods I still want when I'm sick - flattened clear soda and crackers.
It's been a wonderful day so far--slept the night through for the first time in recent memory, woke up feeling like life is once more full of hope and light. I'm actually a realistic optimist, although you might not know it if you've only known me for the last two years. I feel I've begun regaining my life, totally appropriate for Thanksgiving, don't you think?.
Much love,

Good morning all! Happy Big Chicken Day! (one of my childcare kids said she didn't like turkey and I told her it was just a big chicken. SO...she has renamed the day. lol). It felt wonderful to wake up this morning knowing that I have four days off. Then, I got into the kitchen and realized that I have to get my house clean and start the dinner. Our oldest son sent a text YESTERDAY, letting me know that he and his girlfriend will be here for dinner and "what time are we having dinner"? lol Nothing like waiting until the last minute. Add to that, they are vegan. lol I let them know that we are having ham (we don't care for turkey); but there will be many vegan side dishes to choose from. They are welcome to bring a vegan meat sub if they would like one.
Last night, after my last kiddo went home, I was able to hop out and do a good deed for one of my childcare families. The mama posted a particularly sad post on facebook. It has been two years since her husband passed away, leaving her with a (then) six year old and a one year old. Add to that fact that she and the kids are quarantining because her oldest is covid positive and they will be spending Thansgiving, just the three of them. Kind of broke my heart. Tired and heartsick mama. So...I put a couple of bottles of wine in a gift bag for her, and put a slime kit, some activity pages, punching balls, and two packages of microwave popcorn in a gift bag for the kids. I did a drop and run on their porch and texted from the end of the driveway. I saw Alex (the little guy I care for) in the window of the house; so I turned on my dome light in the car and waved like mad! He was thrilled. Jumping on the couch and waving! lol Feels good to make people happy.
Tracey- Lovely ceramic work!
Michele- Pinocchio turned out nice! Where is he going?
Heather- Your trip sounds and looks wonderful! Because I am a product of 1970s American television; every time I think of Nottingham: "Sir Loin of Beef..."
Thought I posted this morning; but it is now 1:30 pm and I realize I haven't. I got distracted by my son and a game called Blockbuster Trivia. Love a good movie trivia game.
Kim- Calamari sounds wonderful! I would be the only one eating it if I prepared it at my home.
Karen VA- Your turkey bread arrangement is adorable! Gobble Gobble!
Allie- Hope you have a wonderful and pain free day (with maybe time for a nap)!
Pip- I am glad Yogi is recovering from his owie!
klou6- Welcome! Share a bit about yourself and sign with what you would like us to call you. Pictures of puppies are most welcome!
Rebecca- Enjoy your time with Athena and family!
Beth- Relax and stay off your leg. lol Hard words to live by, I know. I am like you and push everything. My family also sounds a lot like yours.
Well, I have a ham in the oven and just got another text from my DOS. They will NOT be here for dinner as they both (he and his girlfriend) woke up with fevers and feeling sick. Ah well, I am glad I didn't prep a lot of vegan options. I will stop by their place a bit later with a little dinner for them. A drop and run on the porch/wave from the car, so that I don't get sick kind of thing. Love my son, but don't want to catch anything. My oldest brother and his family were going to come over this weekend as well; but got a text from him this afternoon that their kids have the flu. I guess being healthy has jumped to the top of my "thankfulfor list" on this Thanksgiving Day.

Oh! I had a viber chat this morning with the grandsons, Joaquin and Miguel! Miguel greeted me with "Hi Gaga!" and Joaquin told him, "No! Grandma is Abuela!" My daughter then explained to Joaquin that "abuela means grandma in Spanish and he has Abuela Maria (who is visiting them this week, so he is using the term Abuela, every day) but Gaga is Grandmere which is French for grandmother. So he has Abuela Maria and he can call me either Gaga or Grandmere LaMore." He chose Gaga. lol The boys are doing well, have colds; but 'tis the season... New grandson due in a week! Counting down!4

Lisa: Thanks Lisa. Itβs not a biggy in comparison to what some of us are going through, but at my age any medical disruption take time to get over, and like you I tend to overestimate my capabilities π
