11/20 - 3 wine πππ
November accountability: 8/30 days AF
Alcohol: 12 days (26 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.

Saturday was my given drink day (if I wanted it to be) I did.........
Should have had more to eat with those drinks, feel crappy today. This feeling is one I haven't experienced in a long long time.
Gotta say this feeling is not welcome in my life.
Better day tomorrow.9 -
Unplanned lunch out at Mexican restaurant and had 2 Dos XX, but it was a nice lunch with some street taco's and lots of laughs with DH. Then home for a nap. My sleep has been kinda messed up the past few days with waking at 3am and not being able to get back to sleep. So hopefully this nap does not make sleeping tonight difficult. I think I will have some hot tea and a little melatonin before bed.
@MissMay Sounds like you had a good time out until the reality check in the am. I can relate to that but like you those days are pretty far apart these days
@Lilylady3k I do like to make jambalaya and I usually use shrimp and turkey kielbasa. I had not thought about not including the rice before freezing. Will the rice become soggy or just dry out? I know it is quick to make rice (only about 15 min) but it would be handy to just pop in the microwave.
off for now, I hear some canvases calling my name begging for me to get creative. Christmas is almost here and someone has to make gifts6 -

@lmlmrn - hmmmm the rice works well in jambalaya when freezing with rice. No soggy or drying out. The reason I prep and freeze without the rice is to save room in the freezer LOL. Much less bulk!
However, if I've already mixed rice into jambalaya for a large group and have left overs then I do freeze the entire dish usually in freezer zip locks because it is so easy to pack and I can break out portions.

Hi friends, I'm back from a weekend get-away up north. It was really good and relaxing but we ate out and drank and didn't exercise because it was freezing cold, so I feel exhausted today from all of that. This week the plan is no drinks, even for Thanksgiving (I'm driving) and I am going to hike a ton to reverse my sudden weight gain.
I will have an easier few weeks of work now that the "peak" busy season is subsiding ! And yes, booking the Canada trip soon as flights come out for June.3 -
I ended with 16AF days for October. My ongoing goal is 16-20 AF days.
November 28th 2018 was when I started on this thread. My late Dad's birthday.
I have learned to drink less over the past 3 years, although it was very tough at first weaning myself off of being a daily drinker.
Diary style is how I roll and keep track.
Friday November 19 - Drinks - May have drinks Saturday also, Sunday off! Even though it will be laundry, cleaning, puttering, how nice to have some days off.
Saturday November 20 - 2 drinks. Nice relaxing day off, got lots done including more to the yard. Still some left to do there, but will do more Sunday.
Sunday November 21 - AF - Friday and possibly Saturday next planned drinks hours
Rolling total: 15AF days out of 21 days.3 -
Goal: No more than two drinks tomorrow. No more than two drinks on Wednesday. No more than one drink on Friday.7
-
1st week: 4 days AF, 3 days A, a couple of drinks
2nd week: 3 days AF, 4 days A, 1 day too much wine
3rd week: 3 days AF, 4 days A, nothing excessive
Rolling total to Sunday 21st = 10/21 days AF6 -
The holiday week is my weakness for sure, however I am not going to say I will be AF just less than I normally would this time of year.
I put a new app on my phone, easyquit drinking it has a feature of letting you slowly quit. You set your maximum number for the week and tick them off as you use them. For me this seems to be working so far. You can adjust. for the first week I put in what I would have been drinking had I kept with my daily drinking and so far I have a lot left over so yeah. It is just a tool for me to see at a glance where I am at and improving.
Today spent the day watching YouTube videos on meal prep, so far it all seems to be fairly the same frozen meals in a bag that still require thawing and cooking in a crockpot or instant pot. I guess I need to keep looking I was hoping to find some that are microwave friendly for DH to carry to work or quick spur of the moment meal when we return late home.9 -
AF this evening. Not going to complicate things since DH & I got the 2nd Shingrix vaccine (Shingles) and Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis/ whooping cough). Whooping Cough vaccine is recommended at least 2 weeks before being around a new born and of course this new grandma is going to heed the advice!
November accountability: 9/30 days AF
Alcohol: 13 days (28 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.

@lmlmrn - Iβm doing Jenny Craig and all meals are frozen and I microwave them straight from the freezer like you would any frozen meal. I think so long as the meat/fish is defrosted fully and/or then cooked fully you can re-freeze and cook from frozen.
Come to think of it before JC I would prep/cook in batches, freeze and microwave from frozen, even when preparing baby meals in advance. Iβve not poisoned anyone yet! The JC meals include proteins, veggies, carbs and sauces/gravyβs. Even ham banquettes and burgers.
Let me know if you want to know some of the meals.2 -

Back on track after my not to thrilled with headache and slow going Sunday morning. Luckily getting food into me was a key to snapping out of going in circles.
Ok let's talk holiday.
A last minute turn in events and we are now having another couple come to share our Thanksgiving dinner with us. I had alresdy had my entire menu set and in place. They asked if they could bring something anyways and I said sure, if you'd like. Alright then we'll bring some wine the woman tells me.
Here's my first reaction. Oh no....none of my fancy glasses match π€£
Bringing out my heirloom family china from storage and now I need to pop down to the auxiliary thrift store to see if some wonderful person donated wine glasses that are the same.
AF Sunday and Monday
5A days / 22 November days
9 drinks total
1 hangoverπ

There are some containers on the market that are freezer to microwave to dishwasher. Tupperware?1 -

Monday November 22 - AF - Kind of easier now that I am on straight day shifts and not exhausted at night and reaching for a drink. Change of plan for my Friday planned drinks hours - Saturday is the Symphony's Christmas concert and I want to be as fresh as possible to enjoy it. There hasn't been a Symphony for a long time due to the pandemic. I will likely have drinks with my friend that night. Hit my 16 : - )

Survived Monday being AF with husband and nothing bad happened, just a relaxing evening in front of the TV. We're repeating this again tonight.
I still hope MFP fixes the font size and background color. It's still too strange for me.

Hi All! I haven't visited this thread for almost 2 years. I drink very little these days. I just don't enjoy it. I drink an occasional glass of wine, that I really don't enjoy at all Post-Covid, so I don't see a point. I feel great! I hope you all achieve your goals and if you would like to be friends, I'm looking for 'active' friends.6

Vaccines from yesterday really kicked in and knocked both DH & I off our feet. No sleep last night. But we both pulled ourselves together and exercised this morning. However, around 10am ... it really hit us both. Fever! Tired! Headache!
AF this evening (guess that is one way to rack up the AF days)

@Lilylady3k
I hope that your side effects are gone soon, and yeah, what ever reason we can come up with for an AF night is kind of a win.
@globalhiker
Yes, this new format is painful. Not at all comfortable for the eyes, although surprisingly they seemed to maintain some sponsor ads. It just doesn't feel homey or intimate, these forums have almost lost their community feel in appearance. The new Navigating...nope, don't like it.
I suppose that I will adapt. Lol, still really miss my XP and Windows 7.4 -
AF again yesterday. A 2 day streak. I even watched the movie Wine Country (had some funny moments) and didn't think of drinking wine. Today should be easy and I'll get another AF day in before Thanksgiving.
What's your Thanksgiving plan? I am visiting family so lucky me, I don't need to stock drinks at home for others. That is always a danger zone. I know my husband will drink and I will be driving. On holidays when so many people are out driving under the influence, mixing booze with their meds, I don't drink at all. My defensive driving skills need to be sharp.
I'll be focusing on Friday and go on a hike somewhere new.
Congrats @dawnbgethealthy, on hitting your "16"! and to @SpanishFusion for sharing your success...
Feel better @Lilylady3k!

@Lilylady3k thanks for the reminder- the shingles vaccine has been on my radar for a while but I still havenβt made the appointment. Did you have any side effects?
I moderated pretty well over the weekend, but I still need to tighten it up. Better than last weekend, so itβs an improvement.
Getting ready for Thanksgiving houseguests and a weekend of dinners out. I need to really nurse these drinks and spread them out over the course of the day tomorrow!3 -
@Lilylady3k thanks for the reminder- the shingles vaccine has been on my radar for a while but I still havenβt made the appointment. Did you have any side effects?
@Womona - After seeing a friend get Shingles I finally followed through with my doctor's request to get the vaccine. It is 2 shots separated by 2-6 months. We got ours at CVS.
Side effects: DH was harder hit than me with both the 1st and 2nd shot. You can expect to feel not so great the next day 20-35 hrs after the shot (some fever sometimes, definitely a headache or just blah feeling, fatigue/tired).

2 glasses of unplanned wine last night but I'm okay with it.
Happy Thanksgiving! I'm hosting lots of family today at my home. Planning for a couple of glasses of the nice French Chablis wine DH bought for dinner. However my plan also includes NOT having wine BEFORE we sit down.
I have Rondel Zero from Spain. It's a Cava (non alcoholic champagne) for my pregnant DD & DIL since they were feeling left out last time we were together with wine.
After today we head to the camp for the rest of the month. Always a challenging alcohol situation! My pregnant DD will be with us ... so I'm hoping that I join her being AF instead of drinking with DH and her husband.

Well, I did it. I tried Kombucha.
As some of you might know I saw it being made on TV and got really grossed out.
It also seemed to have lots of calories.
I pretty much try to avoid drinking my calories.
My AF beer has 35, I seldom drink juice, never drink calorie heavy smoothies and if I do have coffee out I ask for no sugar and skim milk for the fancy concoctions.
Of course alcohol has calories, some types more than others. Trying to keep that to a couple of days per week.
Anyway, Safeway had 4-packs of Kombucha in their flyer for $5.99, so picked a couple up, put one of each variety in the fridge. 5 calories each, and purported health benefits.
Last night I had one : - )
I had just one glass of it because it contains teas which have caffeine. I covered the rest and put it in the fridge.
Here are the ingredients of the Raspberry Lemonade variety. I don't know what Erythritol is. No sugar. A bit of potassium which I always need more of.

Erythritol is an artificial sweetener that adds no calories or carbohydrates to food. It works well in baking as well as low calorie drinks. I actually have used it in cooking.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, I hope you are all able to celebrate with family and friends. I am so thankful to have some family near, and wish my family away could all be together. xxoo

Planned for 2 glasses of wine with dinner. Drank the non alcohol champagne before dinner. Drank 2 glasses of a lovely white wine with dinner. But then after everyone left I had a glass of red wine. So 3 for me this evening.4
-
@dawnbgethealthy - Looks like the calories and carbs are almost equal. Though you can subtract the Erthritol for a 0 net carbs I believe!
Erythritol is an organic compound, a sugar alcohol, used as a food additive and sugar substitute.
Raspberry Lemonade sounds good. How did it taste.2
