I think I speak for everyone that we’re so thankful for you, for keeping this going every month, your warm welcomes, your insights, your vulnerability, your kindness and support!!!!6 -
@dawnbgethealthy, I almost fell over when I saw the kombocha in your photo. It certainly looks impressive in your stemmed glass. The color is gorgeous. But how did you like the taste? I don't see where you commented on that.
There are probably a multitude of food/beverage products we consume everyday in which, if we knew how they were made would have us questioning if we should still eat/drink them.
Good for YOU for stepping outside your box ❣🍸5 -
I didn’t think I drank that much yesterday and couldn’t figure out why I needed to take a nap after dinner. Then I put in my alcohol in my app, and I’m in the red zone!
I made a spiked apple cider as the “signature drink” - had two of those in one of those little punch glasses. One 4 oz glass of wine at dinner. I think being up since 5:00AM and being in a constant state of motion, plus of course turkey made me really sleepy. Then another small glass of wine and a whiskey after dinner. Plus I barely drank any water.
Oh well, time to tackle the disaster area that is my kitchen from hosting yesterday!6 -
Thank you @Womona, we are a special kinda family here ❤
I had written a LARGE post, errrrrrr lost it all.
Thanksgiving I was AF all day, to busy cooking, cleaning, etc. And TA DA made up my first charcuterie board (attached photo
)which I was very happy with.
5 days left to November
BRING IT!6 -
@MissMay Beautiful charcuterie board! Putting some of your ideas into my plan for next time I need one.5

Erythritol is an organic compound, a sugar alcohol, used as a food additive and sugar substitute.
Raspberry Lemonade sounds good. How did it taste.
Actually it was quite good. It felt like I was having a cocktail : - )5 -

I ended with 16AF days for October. My ongoing goal is 16-20 AF days.
November 28th 2018 was when I started on this thread. My late Dad's birthday.
I have learned to drink less over the past 3 years, although it was very tough at first weaning myself off of being a daily drinker.
Diary style is how I roll and keep track.
Thursday November 25 - Drinks. Unplanned. I was stressed out, but really try to save drinks hours for happy times, not stress times. Planned drinks Saturday night with friends that I am going to the Symphony with. Pretty sure that I will get to 20AF days for this month.
Rolling total: 18AF days out of 25 days.4 -
I allowed myself a few glasses of wine last night. I feel asleep easily, actually stayed asleep the whole night, and woke up feeling better than I have in weeks. I am not planning to drink tonight. My boyfriend (who doesn't drink) is coming over and we will have our delayed Thanksgiving dinner (long story) and finish season 2 of "Locke & Key." Tomorrow morning I will be up early to ride my horse. 17/25 days AF.4

I am like honored you would use a few of my ideas for your plan. I consider your entertaining photos ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ better than Martha Stewart
I have been out and ordered boards at nice places. I HATE when they get to the table and start leaking or dripping olive juice or or liquid off the board into my nice shoes.
That is why I used the darling mini souffle containers to hold things. The tiny mozzarella balls were a big hit.6 -
Rough week... but back to face the music!
11/1 - 11/7: 1 / 7 days AF, 10 drinks
11/8 - 11/14: 6 / 7 days AF, 6 drinks, better, but the 1 drink day was a doosy! Took a full day to recover, and ate way too much in the process.
11/15-11/21: 4 / 7 days AF, didn't really count, but my guess is about 10 for the week.
New Week -
11/22 - 2 drinks
11/23 - 2 drinks
11/24 - 3 drinks
11/25 - AF4 -
Did anyone besides me oversleep this morning? I can't believe I put in 11 hours without getting up once. Yep! Now I know turkey with cranberry is my new insomnia cure
News alert - I signed up for the Banff Half Marathon in June. This gives me huge motivation - to drop the lbs., stay away from the wine, and get in my best shape ever. My weekend will be AF, sitting in front of my PC, obsessively shopping for travel deals. May as well help the US and Canadian economy
Nice charcuterie board, @MissMay!7 -

November accountability: 11/26 days AF
Alcohol: 15 days (33 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.

I loved your toothpick holder! The little mozzarella balls were a great idea ... I use them to help freshen up a frozen pizza so I do have them on hand usually. Also really liked the yellow and orange vertical in the jar. I have a couple of fun olive bowls that I use ... totally understand the idea of not wanting your board to drip LOL4 -

@Lilylady3k
Thanks for the concern. Yes, the stressful situation has been mitigated. I dealt with what I needed to before work this morning.
I don't like to use up a drinks day (drinks hours) to relieve stress, but it sure did relax me.7 -
Another AF day done...and lacing up my running shoes now. Out the door I go.....
Goal today is no drinks and try to convince my husband to bring down the tree out of the attic.8 -

I did not do well on Thanksgiving. Family was a lot of fun and as soon as they left for the evening DH and I poured a few drinks. Friday morning---hang over. Sheesh I have not had one of those in decades. Just goes to show me!
Anyway back on track today!
@MissMay your photos were stunning. My 'board' was not near as pretty as yours but I did put my veggies in ramekins set on a silver tray LOL

11/27 - 🎣 3 drinks 💜😊💜 1 wine + 2 bourbon & diet coke
Burned my hand which was not a good excuse to drink bourbon but I soothed it with Aloe on the hand and a few drinks instead of pain meds. TODAY is a good day to start fresh.

AF again yesterday and husband joined me. It was easy and I didn't think of drinking at all. I think my body was just too inflamed from running 35 minutes straight after doing an hour of weights the day before. Anyway, I have to keep it up. The more exercise I do, the more relaxed and happy I am. It's a good place to be5

Happy Thanksgiving, all!
So happy you got to go to the symphony and had such a good time, @dawnbgethealthy. How often do we get to be in the presence of 100 talented and passionate people creating together? It just seems to make the world a bigger place.
Had an absolute blast with family the past week. So, so missed my nephew & brother during the pandemic. Great being with them, all the girls, all the parents. It's scary seeing my parents age so fast. My dad in particular didn't seem to age at all for decades but seems like he aged 20 years in the past 3-4 years. On the other hand it's truly heartwarming seeing the nephew & daughters grow up.
Brother & family left yesterday, I took DD#2 to the airport at 5:30AM today, DD#3 & DH depart this afternoon, and I'll be alone for a few days. Don't remember the last time that happened! It's always a little bit of a downer to say bye to everyone so I need to come up with fun things to look forward to.
On the "drinking less" front, I have totally regressed to a "drinking more" state of being. In addition to Thanksgiving, we celebrated my nephew's birthday & brother's marriage. It was fun and festive. Drinks weren't necessary to enjoy the fun and festivities, but they were flowing and I had only 1 or 2 AF days all week. And several times I had more than 2. Last night I employed tactics that usually work for me -- following a cocktail with a mocktail and brewing a pot of tea. Nonetheless, after the pot of tea DH & I had a bottle of wine. It's like I lost my way. Here's hoping some time alone helps me find my way back on track.7 -
Made this kransenkake to celebrate my brother & SIL's marriage. We're not Norwegian, but I've always wanted to try this! My nephew loves to cook, so I got him the molds and all the stuff to make it for his bday last year, but we couldn't do it together because of the pandemic. So this was a way of celebrating the newlyweds and the missed birthday. Did not have the molds so had to do it free form. Now I know how much the molds help!6 -
Wow @ahoy_m8 your cake looks too pretty to eat. I would love to make a Christmas holiday cake like that and if I can find a gluten-free way to do it, I will. What inspiration!
I logged 5 AF days this past week and it was a holiday week too!! If I can do it, everyone can. Just focus on the next 24 hours and keep distracted and busy.
@dawnbgethealthy -Are you in Cranbrook or Creston? Is the best way from the US driving through Rykerts border crossing? Tentatively looking at June 9th or 10th and right now taking a short flight to Spokane in a small plane looks like the least Covid-complicated option.3 -
Last night at fishing camp 🎣 DH & I were both AF
Hit my goal of 12 days!
November accountability: 12/30 days AF
Alcohol: 16 days (36 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.2 -
@ahoy_m8 - Very creative and lots of talent in your baking skills as well! Thanks for sharing the picture of the kransenkake. I'm sure everyone loved it!3

Impressive cake!!! How did it taste?
The Symphony of the Kootenays was probably only 50-60 musicians, but included Timpani : - )2
