Last time I came across this, I said "travel agency" because we could travel. Now that we're all grounded and not able to travel, we'll have to think of something else.
I could probably clear out the Laliques from a local antique shop for that. 🙂

I also thought of a computer store. I could probably drop $10,000 in a computer store. 🙂0 -

I would go to a furniture store. Our living room especially could use some sprucing up.
Went to water exercise class today. I usually participate fully but today the instructor asked us to go up to others face to face and tell each other our names. I felt uncomfortable doing that. Part of what I like about water exercise is the distance maintained between people and the added protection of the chlorine.
Arborist coming tomorrow to prune the apple tree. Hoping she will also cut down 2 dwarf weeping willows. I want to replace them with hydrangeas.

Just about to get up and take my LFT. My friend G is doing the same. Looking forward to seeing a real person for a chat and a stroll. Hope to find an almost empty restaurant. Not going on the bus. Numbers are high locally, mainly in young people and children. Hardly anyone in intensive care. 45 in hospital out of 300, 000.
I'm annoyed at DH for not asking his friend to do a LFT before meeting up for lunch in a country pub tomorrow. For some reason, he doesn't like to ask. In Britain, they are free and you just pick up boxes of 5 at the pharmacy, if they have them in stock. My son's family are doing them regularly and definitely before they meet us. Edie had it last week and now Bea has it.

10 000 to spend in 1 hour I think we saw this one a year or two ago. A computer would be easy.
Storage, screen, laptop, new printer, scanner, accessories, and some gifts. Easy to spend since the prices go way up there!
Meeting V and M at café since V needs a teacher for a few hours in her school and M (young person) is interested, needs work and a foot in the door.
We've been talking about it for many months but never got around to it so I made an appointment for a coffee together.

Happier January 2022
26: Choose one of your strengths and find a way to use it today. Research? Stubbornness?
What I’d rather do than exercise: vacuuming, taxes. Pfaugh.
Lisa relieved to hear you got your originals back promptly. To fax the forms, scan in, then use one of these web services, some are free with advertising logo on coversheet for limited numbers of pages/day. https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-send-or-receive-a-fax-online
Anna my Zumba materials are also in need of dusting. Thanks for the reminder!
KJ “January highlight” hard won. Bravissima! Could you add plowing to that list?
Barbie I love your loving conversations with, and suggestion from, Jake  “. . .dance only to the music I like best.” This is key for me, to not just doing it, but to learning new dances.
Beth so many life changing events for you recently, small wonder you feel lost. ((hugs))
Katla thought of you and Lannette while reading chapter 4 of Machka’s recommended “The Brain’s Way of Healing.” Dr. Noidge reports on the effectiveness of low level laser light therapy in a truly astonishing number of applications. Many different machines and modalities, some even following on meridians used in T’ai Chi and acupuncture.
Heather thanks for the Bowmore recommendation. Not a big scotch drinker but love the smoky/peaty single malt Laphroaig, even found some orange marmalade containing it at Gold Beach’s Coastal Market
Annie 90 minutes of exercise? VERY well done!
Kim working in the yard not just good for your mental health but for your immune system too. Good job.
Allie fingers X’d for a favorable ultrasound.
Sleepytime tea kicking in so a little short on responses.
Week ago Thursday, Joe had sudden tooth pain, thought a crown jiggled up off the base. DDS couldn’t get in til following Tuesday. Couldn’t find anything wrong with that tooth but found a small cavity on the next, so scheduled filling today. That one turned into two, solving the pain mystery. $608 less 5% discount for payment by check. Trying to be grateful for good dental care and that it wasn’t a crown or a root canal.
Lighter, lovelies!

Dropping in quickly this very cold morning to say hello. Not much to add. I am staying healthy-many people in my county are not. I ordered the four free tests and have one I left from batch I got from library. I had picked up 4 from them, used one myself gave two to co-worker for her and her son. Hoping no need to test anytime soon but figured I should be prepared. Also figure that it is most likely a matter of time before I do catch covid, but I am doing my best to delay that!
Working through resistance band exercises etc. trainer has given me to do from home. She has a few using the big exercise balls. I always figured I wasn't coordinated enough to use such things. First one I tried was wall squats with large ball behind me. Not only did it make the movement easier, it felt wonderful on my back! I have one arriving tonight-anxious to try the other stuff.
Well, going to get ready to brave the cold and head in to the office. Had thought about bringing stuff home and working here today, but really much easier to go there.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Take care all,

Annie - I highly recommend the Easy series of languages on YouTube. I listen to German, Spanish and French. It really helps with understanding and gets the accent in your head. It made a huge difference when I was learning German, which I had been stuck on after several tries in the past. Plus it's fun and introduces you to the culture. It's subtitled in the language and in English.
Negative test. My friend is on the train. She is wearing an FFP2 mask. I will be leaving in 20 minutes. It is very nice to get my face on and some jewellery. In the house, and locally, I don't bother.

It's Australia Day today ... cooler and cloudy than what we've had recently, but that's OK.
Australia Day is controversial here and one of the questions that a newspaper asked was, "Are you going to celebrate Australia Day?"
Well ... if sleeping in, taking down my Christmas decorations, catching up on a few things around the house, and going for a bicycle ride or walk is "celebrating", then you betcha I'm going to celebrate!!
Machka in Oz
I "celebrated" today by getting all my Christmas decorations down and put away. Then I vacuumed and dusted the main living area and arranged things so that if I work from home next week (maybe), I can set myself up all right. I also did a load of laundry and tidied several other things around the house.
We didn't leave home for anything, not even a walk. I just didn't feel up for it.
I was going to make a pavlova too, but got so busy cleaning and tidying, I forgot.
But I'm pleased with what got accomplished today.

Good morning all! Happy Wednesday!
Allie- What is going on with baby Myles? Is he not getting enough milk? It does take a while for mamas to produce, but babies tend to only drink an ounce at a time and nurse almost constantly in the first couple of weeks of life. If Tracey is trying to boost milk production- eating oatmeal is a good way! At about week three she can start pumping. IF she plans to continue with breastmilk, she should consider pumping after the baby feeds. It is time consuming and adds a few minutes onto each feeding, but it will increase her milk production, allow her to freeze it for up to six months, allow someone else to feed the baby so she can get some rest. IF she doesn't want to pump, but needs to supplement with formula, remind her that "fed is best". There is no shame in needing to give your baby formula. There are lots of mamas in the world that for one reason or another can't breastfeed. Formula was developed for this reason. Fed is BEST! IF it is a matter of baby won't sleep... have her try placing his snuggle wrap, blankie or crib sheets in her shirt (against her skin) and keeping it there for the day/a few hours, so that it picks up the scent of her skin. Babies tend to sleep deeper and longer when they can smell or feel close to mama. As for getting him on a schedule; that isn't likely to happen until about 6 months of age. Even then, most babies will not make it more than 5 or 6 hours without needing food. Tracey will make it through this. She is very lucky to have you close by to step in and help so she can shower, get a little sleep, and care for herself! Lots of hugs to you both! KJ6 -
Machka- lol I keep forgetting that you are 16 hours ahead of me. I hope your day off was wonderfully relaxing! Have a good night!1

BARBARA glad you got good tooth care. sorry about the cost. I have something similar (I think) w dentist tomorrow.
GINNY Glad to read you are well. I figure I might well already have had COVID. so many people have symptomless versions now. I have gotten tested 4 times in 2 years. 2x this month, 1x a year and a half ago, and once several months ago.
Nice morning but didn't get done all I had planned to. but got other stuff done...
buying food now (almost totally out!)

Lake effect snow bands have kept us from traveling to my parents today. Will be keeping an eye on the weather to see when we can try again ... Saturday or Monday maybe. There's no urgent reason for us to be there today. We were going to hang pictures, clean out the house freezers, things of that nature that can easily be postponed. Our weekly visits are more for keeping my parents emotionally grounded through all of their transitions. Good news is that yesterday my dad with PT assistance got on his feet for the first time since November! I didn't think that was going to happen.
So today I'll continue with my decluttering and cleaning missions.

Well I am being lazy and running late but now I can feel the caffeine in my system. I have sunshine and my radio. There's no reason not to get up and exercise!

Lunch with my friend went well. We went to Olé, a tapas place. I had a small mussels, (didn't drink the sauce) and Padron peppers, no bread etc, so I think I did OK. One glass of white wine.
(Pigs cheeks tonight with green beans. It's in the IP right now. I'm doing a jacket potato for DH and might eat an end. )
Lots of chat with my friend. Nice to be in the real world. She has quite a lot of stuff to deal with, but I was happy to listen and think how lucky I am right now.
The waiter was Spanish, so I had a conversation with him in Spanish. Got a word wrong, but not bad for being rusty. He kindly turned the music off for us.
I walked back along the seafront. Cold wind, so my friend chickened out and fled back to the buses into town. I came past our shops so chatted to the butcher about how long the haggis would keep and then bought kale to make kale pesto. Jamie Oliver recipe. I will have it on shiritake noodles.
In Hove I bought our very favourite focaccia and I've cut it into six and frozen it. DH adores it. He always says, "This is the best focaccia I've had outside Italy. " He says that every time.
Time soon to rejoin DH and watch Antiques Road Trip.

13 degrees Fahrenheit, which is good because it was 1 above zero when I got up. And my period is here, so I'm feeling just wonderful.
We had to borrow Son's car to take our car down to get new tires and an oil change and it's turning out to not be as expensive as we feared. So after he gets done with therapy we probably will be able to go get the car and then I am coming home and getting in bed with extra blankets and curling up with a heating pad on my belly. If I didn't have to go out again that's where I'd be.

10,000 to spend in one store- I would get an Endless pool and have it set up at my mom's. She could enjoy it and when I am there, I would enjoy it.(no room for one here really3 -
Yay, today I bought a plaque for my sister dwn in Shedd, Oregon from a gal up the street. $5, then wrapping it in a lap quilt I don't use. Shall tell her she can use it for her baby doll she has that we all played with as children.💖👍
Her and I have really bonded, calling each other on the phone regarding our middle sister. So my middle sister now doesn't walk much, in bed all the time. She says its her neuropathy issues. She also uses Depends and her daughter and husband deal with helping her with those. Its a sad sad situation.

10, 000 would go towards a cruise. Maybe a Christmas one, which usually goes to the Canaries. It would only buy half a suite though!!!
Otherwise, I might like a luxury break in Germany, including Dresden.
Otherwise, some gorgeous ceramics and glass.
Or new windows for the back of our house. Boring.
Pigs cheeks were heavenly 😋

Hello All. Welcome to all the new people. It seems there are a lot of you.
I have made a bit of progress on my injuries that have plagued me for the past 2 years. My knee issue is much better, as is my hip. I can run now. I haven’t tried long distance, but I can run and that’s a big milestone, biggest of the year so far, probably…although I don’t have hip pain anymore and that’s big too. Let’s just go with many fewer pains now. However, I’m still struggling with piriformis issues. It’s a huge issue because I have to sit a lot for my job and it keeps me from sleeping.
I spent money and joined BeachBody. I was getting bored with my other workouts, so I needed a change. They have hundreds of workouts. So, I felt it was worth the money, especially if it gets me back on track. I have been counting calories and doing about 1.5 hours of exercise in some form or another since late November, yet have not lost even a tenth of a pound. It’s frustrating. My sisters and mom gave me a digital picture frame as a gift and we put some pictures from 20+ years ago on it. This makes it very easy to 1) see how we’ve aged, 2) notice that I really need new clothes, and 3) see how our weight has fluctuated over the years. It’s a bit of a motivator.
Venting—I’m a bit (Ok, a lot) upset with one of my sisters right now and frustrated with some decisions my mom is making regarding her health (heavily influenced by aforementioned sister), but there is literally nothing I can do other than worry about her. So, I’m choosing not to. In fact, I’ve sort of “switched off” checking on my family for the time being. Let’s call it self-care.
I’ve been reading along and don’t have a lot to say that others haven’t already. I’ve spent most of January getting ready for our trip next month. We are self-quarantining for 2 weeks before that. I also have to get 2 weeks worth of work done before we head out. I don’t think we’ll have much connectivity while we’re gone and even if we do, I really don’t want to spend my vacation working. I’d rather be reading a book or just sitting and staring at nature.
I send big virtual hugs to all who need them. I know there are many who are struggling here.
