I went to work today. Usually, when I go in I say “good morning, how are you doing”, I’m peppy. Today it was just “good morning” – very somber. But when I did the lettuce, I pretended the lettuce was cancer cells. You should have seen me taking my frustration out on that lettuce! Poor lettuce! But by the time I left, I was back to my old “have a great day” self. I went bowling, but Vince didn’t. I tried to tell him to go and get his frustration out, but he didn’t want to.
Debbie – I had to call the cremation service. Every single one of our cats has had his/her own personality.
Ginny – I was on alondrate sodium and it really didn’t help me so now I’m on Prolia (the shots). I think part of it is that the Prolia gets directly into the bloodstream whereas the alondrate sodium has to go thru the digestive tract first. Maybe I have an abundance of acid in my stomach. Actually, before I went on Medicare, my bone density improved so much on the Prolia that insurance wouldn’t cover the Prolia unless I went on something like Fosamax first for 2 years. After 1 year the MD convinced them I needed the Prolia
Thank you, everyone, for your sympathy on Clyde. It’ll hurt for a while, but the good memories will last a lifetime.
Minicooper – believe it or not, Vince is allergic to cats. Lexi sleeps ON him. We’ve had cats for over 20 years. He’s going for allergy shots right now.
Speaking of the allergy shots, he’s now at the point where he can give himself the shot. So when he goes tomorrow, they’ll probably show him how to give himself the shot. This way he won’t miss while we’re in Florida.
Beth – good luck at PT
katla – how in the world can someone poison a cat, or anything else for that matter??? He sounds SEVERELY disturbed
Allie – good thoughts for your consultation
drkatie – (((HUGS)))

Back from the rheumatologist. Not much joy there--he's sending me back to the gastroenterologist, but did suggest strongly that I talk to the gastro about the biologics, so I've got some reading up to do (Humira, Stelara, Remicade and others that are approved for ulcerative colitis). Got some reading up to do on another suggestion he made of an anti-inflammatory for my arthritis that's not an NSAIDS, which may also help. Will talk to my primary VA doc about it.
Exhausted, and just so glad to be home.

Michele- so sorry for your loss. I think my dh would be the same as Vince if something happened to our pup.
Sue- hope you had a great birthday.
Still working 0n my projects list. It seems like every time I finish one I think of another to add.
Almost February…1 -
Heather: I do look forward to Grayson and his Art Challenge. He and Philippa are such interesting people.
Bravo on the weight loss. You’ll do it for the cruise.

Just got back from the emergency vet. We put Clyde down. His blood was life-threatenly low iron. He just couldn't get oxygen. At first they were going to let us in to say "goodbye" in case he didn't make it thru the night. The prognosis wasn't good at all, so Vince made the decision to put him down. He couldn't stand.

Very sorry to hear about Clyde. (((Hugs)))

Michele— The cat poisoner lived across the street from us many years ago. He was a hater of cats who poisoned them because he blamed them for killing the birds who came to his bird feeder. He killed our cat with poison. Our next door neighbor told me about it the day we moved to a different town. If I had known the problem I would have kept our cat inside.
These days I feed hummingbirds from humming bird feeders attached to our windows. Our neighbor has a cat that is an indoor kitty. I have never seen her cat and the humming birds are safe.

Michele - sorry for your loss
Heather - I am with you. I do have two indoor plants one hubby bought over 20 years ago and one I brought home because someone wouldn’t take no for an answer. It is now 15 years old.
For you line dancing ladies.
The singer is Johnny Reid a successful singer from Nova Scotia. I’m not sure if he is known elsewhere or not. I love his voice and his songs

I’m struggling to limit screen time and keep caught up. I also have had some projects I’ve been working on so can’t do that and be on the phone scrolling.

Gals,
Thanks for the kind words and well wishes and prayers. My sister and I are still in Seattle for her cancer treatments. Today we got wonderful news. She has stage four lung cancer that has metastasized to the brain and liver. She has had gamma knife for brain tumors and cyber knife for liver and lymph node tumors. Scans this fall showed a need for radiation on a new area on the liver and an existing brain tumor that was enlarging. We came to Seattle with appointments for PET and MRI scans and cyber knife treatments thru 2/11. Today the results of the PET and MRI showed the liver tumor has shrunk and the brain tumor is only 1/25th of an inch larger than six months ago. All the radiation appointments have been cancelled and we'll be done with medical after tomorrow. I'll take my sister to the airport on Wednesday and then drive home.
((Michele)), So sorry to read of Clyde.
Barbi, loved that you could be the crazy cat lady... and loved your dad's sense of humor.
Betsy in NW WA.... currently in Seattle but only til Wednesday.5 -
Michele: Adding my sympathy on your loss of Clyde. Hope Vince and you will still make your trip to Florida.
Dr. Katie: My heart goes to you as you lovingly assist your parents through end of life decisions.
Sue: Sounds like a very nice birthday. May every wish come true.
Betsy: Hugs to you and your sister.

Betsy – what wonderful news! Doing a happy dance for you and your sister
Rori – I can’t see why we wouldn’t be able to go to FL. What I would like to do is take the ashes of the cats and leave them there. To me...they should be someplace they loved. I do find it disconcerting to have the ashes in the house, but I wouldn’t tell Vince that. If it were me, I would bury the ashes. But not Vince

Lisa … mind sharing the name of the anti-inflammatory that isn’t an NSAIDS?

It was because of a mean neighbor that we finally brought in the momma cat. Our neighbor doesn't like cats in his perfectly manicured yard. He told my dh that he knew that the black cat(our inside/outside boy cat) and the other(the momma) were ours but he was planning on catching them and taking them to the shelter. We were worried so we caught her and brought her in- she had been a semi-feral cat in the yard for about 5-6 yrs before we brought her inside. We have not allowed any of the cats, except for Neko(and he is not allowed out after dark).
