Laughing about Dawn's cursing the deer poop. I understand though!

I think an AF mint julep sounds infinitely better than the bourbon version. Are there things you guys love the IDEA of but not so much the actual reality? Mint Juleps are that for me. One year for the Kentucky Derby I could just visualize the condensation on the silver goblets, the fresh mint leaves poking up, the crushed ice... I spent the afternoon making mint syrup and polishing silver. When we finally sat down to sip the beautiful drink I just about spat it out. Bourbon is just not my thing. I would love to know how to make an AF version!

Hope everyone who celebrates Easter had a happy one. We had an absolute blast. So fun. OK on drinks Fri & Sat but overdid it Sunday. But I did manage exercise AND a nap. Trying to stay flexible with tons of coming & going and plans changing.

My personal experience ... oh so many years ago ... were the mint juleps served at Melrose Plantation in Natchitoches LA. Historical home tours and there is an art & craft festival. Back in my early years I actually stood in a plantation bell dress talking about Clementine Hunter mural in African House. The mint juleps at Melrose were amazing!

I WROTE THIS IN FEBRUARY 2022 THREAD THIS MORNING BY MISTAKE 🤣
Sorry forgot to even get in here yesterday and give Easter wishes. So belated happys to that.

Yesterday hit a milestone.....31 consecutive days AF.
Yeah I know middle of the month in March beginning it was not my choice, it was my gallbladders choice. And hey when your gallbladder is happy, everything else is happy too.

I know for a fact I will have 34 days AF before leaving on my vacation. When I land in L.V. I will be super aware of needing to be alcohol concious and not let the moment deter me from my LESS ALCOHOL goals if I do partake in consuming alcohol.

Best to write it out for you all to see, that way I can stick to my commitments:
    GOALS-
*NO more than two/2 standard size alcohol drinks per drink day
**NO CONCECUTIVE days of alcohol. Have a dry day in between so things do not spiral out of control.
*NO saving an unconsumed drink and adding it onto the next planned drinking day( because my drinking brain or husband says it is ok)
**Remember to REMEMBER my entire vacation without regret or grey moments.

    READY - SET - GO

    My mocktail mint julep recipe:

    Fresh mint muddled in glass
    Arizonia zero iced tea
    Ginger ale
(Simple syrup if you like it sweeter)
    crushed ice
    Garnish wirh mint leaves

You can adjust your drink to your taste. If you like more iced tea or if you like more ginger ale, also the sweetness can be adjusted wirh simple syrup.

I really enjoy this in copper drink ware. As @ahoy_m8 stated the condensation on the outside of the glass sets the mood.

True to form I will be making my Kentucky Derby hat to wear to a hat party May 7th.

    ~ENJOY~

AF last night so I feel I am doing well
Thur-Sunday will be tons of fun selling tickets at the fair. I am finding I like the looser schedule not being a float. At least being the morning person I can/do get told I can go home. This is usually between 6pm-8pm. Perfect day for me

But working does trigger my desire to drink in the evenings. That was my go too for sure. So DH is Johnny on the Spot and has all my AF crutches ready when I get home.

Tonight @MissMay it will be your mint julep!

Some how I really messed up on your fair schedule. So it is two weeks of work Thurs-Sun. GOT IT. Have fun selling tickets and people watching. I have that to look forward to the next seven days as well.

I hope you like the mocktail mint julep( your hubby is a saint for doing that for you).
I had one last night out but the ginger ale was flat out if their soda gun and it ruined the entire experience and they had no back up ginger ale. 😡

My usual goal, 16-20AF days for the month. Diary style.
I had 21AF days for March, but it was a longer month.
My reason for drinking less is for weight loss.

Friday April 15 - Had half of my small bottle of Prosecco (one flute) and then a couple of drinks a few hours later. I may have the rest of the Proscecco with some cheese on Saturday.
Saturday April 16 - AF (seem to have lost that post?) The Prosecco is capped in the fridge
Sunday April 17 - AF - Heading into 3 split shifts, so didn't want any lack of energy
Monday April 18 - AF - No plans for drinks until Thursday before, during, and/or after the theatre.

Rolling total: 12AF day out of 18 days.

@dawnbgethealthy how goes the gardening up in Canada? We had another snow squall breeze through yesterday. Very disappointing when looking at the Spring bulbs shooting up greenery to see snow on them.

    Another 3 in a row AF, 👍👍👍

Only one glass of wine last night, which is a huge improvement for me considering this past month! I was AF Monday night and will be again tonight.

I re-started that 21 day sugar detox on Monday, (last night’s drink notwithstanding), and I already feel better. Way less bloated and puffy. My sleep is definitely better when I don’t drink. I don’t think my body likes bread/pasta, which of course I love! But I’m tired of feeling awful and sluggish. My eating and drinking habits have been terrible these past two months. It’s nice to see and feel such a quick improvement- I’m already down a pound! Yay!

Agree better sleep and less night sweats when it has been an AF day. Congrats on the pound gone!

As much as I had been enjoying my H00 I think it really bloats me. It could be my GB issue. So for now I will only be having one of those at a time as well.
It is always somethings isn't 😂?

    AF April 19/19

Too early yet for any major gardening, we also had some snow flurries. Everything is still covered and will be until ready to till and plant.
My bearded irisis and tulips have been up for awhile, and some sunflowers.
I imagine that the end of April will see me beginning to uncover stuff.

I am very excited about your trip to Las Vegas. When do you leave?

@MissMay what concert are you attending? Have a great time in Vegas!

AF again tonight. I had one half sip of my husband’s Manhattan, and I didn’t even enjoy it, which I am taking as a good sign!

Late in posting but I've had a pretty good week. As usual, working long hours but I am liking it for a change. Got in a solid good long run early because I did not drink wine last night. Another great reason to reduce or stop drinking - it inhibits progress in life, my opinion.

Oh wow, @Womona if you find the secret of de-bloating, please tell me. I am researching away!

@MissMay, if you gamble in Vegas, sending you luck from afar....you absolutely deserve a good big win :). And we want to hear about those fancy mocktails too.

    @lmlmrn

I sprout in the winters in jars. Not to bring to term, I just eat the sprouts. Very delicious.

This was a new variety for me this year, Fenugreek, which the chefs at the restaurant use in Masala (not in sprouted form).
I may try a few seeds in the garden this summer and see them come to full leaf.

Thursday April 21 - 2 drinks. Really great show, I expected the gymnastics, but didn't expect all of the comedy that they infused. It took me out of my head for awhile. Meeting with HR on Friday to see if I can get a resolution to my work stress. If not I will give my notice. I may have drinks on Friday, but not on Saturday since I am scheduled to work a split shift on Sunday.

Rolling total: 13AF day out of 21 days.

Friday April 22 - 2 drinks - HR to the rescue, my work issues solved : - ) Planned AF for Saturday, split shift on my usual day off, Sunday, so I need all of my energy. 1 day off is not enough for me, but this will be the last time for that.

Rolling total: 13AF day out of 22 days.

    @Womona

Barely Methodical Troupe is the name of the company that is currently touring "Bromance".
The troupe is UK based, but the performers of this particular show sounded Australian or Kiwi.
So entertaining and perfectly timed for me when I was having a rough couple of weeks work-wise.
There was also a new art exhibition in the theatre that was interesting.
So much more to life than work right?

AF again tonight. I have enough calories to have a glass, but I really want to stick to the no sugar/alcohol thing as much as I can. Would you believe it’s harder for me to give up bread and pasta than it is to give up wine??????
