Hello, I’m new to the mfp community and I would really like to make some fitness friends. It would be great to have someone who is motivated to lose weight and hold each other accountable. Feel free to shoot me a friend request if you’re down to come with me on this journey.

Have you checked out the "What's your workout" threads over in the Fitness part of the Community? Some people use those to help with accountability to themselves, or "meet" MFP-ers doing similar activity. For example (in random order):

If you open one of those up, and see old dates on posts, don't be dismayed: Like any long term thread here, the old threads are on page 1, and the newest posts are at the end on the high-numbered pages. All 3 of those are still very active.
Another option would be to take a look in the Challenges part of the Community. There are various challenges going on constantly, some more general, some more sport-specific. That can be a good way to find like-minded MFP-ers, plus keep motivation and accountability going. Direct link to that area here:
