Karen - What a lovely memory!
Pip - Glad there is light at the end of that process for Yogi. He's such a happy dog.
Betsy - The hike sounds wonderful!
Houses - my dream home is one wrapped around a courtyard with a retractable or partial roof. Two guest bedrooms and a full bath on one side, master suite and office on the other, and the connecting area would hold the kitchen and living area.
Hamburger buns and hot dog buns shaped and proving in the oven, now to clean up the bread station and get them baking.
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa5 -

Karen - Yes! One thing I mentioned earlier that really impressed him was the speech the boy gave. Some in Hebrew, but mainly in English, about how their forebears came to this country. My son said to me, "They have all that money, and yet they still keep the memory of the struggles and persecution their family has been through and how they got here"
When my sons were at school they really felt our family was 'boring', because it's so English. Plus I know my son feels a little conscious of being 'ordinary'. In truth, he is highly privileged, and I'm sure he knows it, but he is still dazzled by those who appear to have more money, more confidence etc. I have envy of those more artistically successful. I guess we all have our envy 'wounds' and the trick is to use them as a spur to a better life for ourselves - thinner, healthier, more spiritual, more friends, better marriage etc etc. Whatever is your bag.
Maybe he has a yearning for community. ..? He definitely has a money thing going on ..... His wife earns far more than him....
I feel a bit bad today because I dithered a bit too long over booking the excursions for our Iceland trip. DH made some suggestions last weekend, and it's taken me until today to finally decide. Of course, the very two that he especially wanted to do were all booked up.
One, I have found the next best thing, but the other, a long trek to a waterfall, I couldn't do anything about. I've booked a more sedentary alternative, but I'm going to try to get him on a waiting list once we get on the ship. Someone may drop out. He really wanted to go on that trek.
Adding up all the extra excursions made me blink, but we got a refund from our last cancelled cruise, so that money will go towards it. We will be crossing lava fields, swimming in hot springs and watching geysers spout. On Orkney we will see my dream of Scara Brea and the Stones of Brodgar etc. My rational for the cost of it all is that we will never be doing it again. And we aren't getting any younger.
Had a short nap. I will rejoin the world. Or, at least, go downstairs.

THEY WON!!! WOOHOO!!! 42-26
My girl and I after the game. Got a really good pic of her blocking on a kickoff return.
Those are lovely cards, Terri!
Great news on Yogi, Pip!
Spooky pic there, Karen... YIKES! But I love weather pics too.
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's of ALL SORTS!
Carla, in MN6 -
Was awakened by a student I had when subbing this morning. He is a third grader and brought me a single white rose in a water bottle for Mother’s Day. Melted my heart.💕
Heard from everyone this morning and now to the pay booth. It made it to 103 degrees yesterday, but I was home in air conditioning by then. Another predicted for today.

Machka - My dream home would have a bright huge craftroom, an attached area for a heated wood shop for Rodger, 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. An open-ish kitchen living room area and a rec room. My kitchen would have a huge island that people could sit at and chat.
Maybe an exercise room but I’m not sure.
Karen - I bet the drag brunch will be a wonderful experience.
Heather - your son and DIL probably appreciate you and Johnny watching the children more than they are able to put into words.
We were so very blessed that both my parents and Rodger’s parents helped us tremendously by taking our girls if we needed it. When we moved to AB their help was terribly missed by all of us but especially the girls.
These will probably be some of the grandchildren’s best memories.
Lisa - I love all of your projects, but especially that bookshelf quilt and the concept of the trees on the black. I have been looking at the bookshelf quilts for my daughter. I truly have never attempted a quilt and don’t even have a place to do one.
My daughter still buys books and has a kindle. She reads continuously, but she said she loves the feel of a book and turning the pages and the books that she enjoys most she buys. She rereads books so it’s worth it for her.
I too have quite a few projects to get finished. Rodger is going to be working evenings and weekends again this year so I’ll probably get a fair amount accomplished. I really need to start the books for my girls and I have stockings to finish for this year. Next year I’ll probably start thinking more about scrapbooks for each family member.
Betsy - money has been scarce all of my life. I grew up with only cold running water, no heat except wood stove, and a lot of times the cupboards were pretty bare. I knew I was loved though and when there was a little bit extra Dad always made sure we knew we were a priority.
Our girls never grew up without heat although a couple of times in the summer, our gas was shut off. So we had to boil water for baths. My girls never bring those times up though, they only mention the good times.
Allie - I too had a purse addiction for a long time. It’s funny, my grandmother once gave me some money to shop with and took me to spend it. I bought a purse and wallet. She laughed and told me that I loved purses and wallets so much I never had money left to put in them. The last birthday money she ever sent to me I bought a nicer purse. I still have it, although it should probably be tossed now as I have loved it too much.
Heather - I hope someone does drop out so that Johnny gets the trek he wanted.
Carla - congratulations on the win.
Rita - you obviously touched that little guy.
I’m about to go do some changing around in our bedroom. I needed a dresser and one of our residents families left the perfect size one for us to dispose of. It’s in perfect condition. I don’t like how I obtained it, but at least it will be used and was rescued from the landfill.
I’ll go do some grocery shopping while DH watches the race this afternoon.
Off to do some chores.
Happy Mother’s Day to those that are celebrating. This is only of my favourite photos of my Mom, brother and I.

HEATHER I think you will love Iceland. I only went for a couple of days for a stopover on the way to the usa - and it was a bust as I had belly issues, so really couldn't do an expedition, BUT I still liked it, and have no regrets, in retrospect. (not for the faint of budget!) Unlimited hot springs, hot tubs in many places. "moon like" stony environments. I laid low and enjoyed hot springs and tubs and local little walks.2

I received a text last weekend from eldest son wishing me Happy Mothers Day.🙃👍
Youngest was a no show. I wasn't holding my breath, but hoping.
Nothing really planned today, watched sumo wrestling tournament, day one of a 15 day tournament.
Called Lee's momma that was a nice chat. She's 89 yrs old. She said she tried calling us at 10 am but we were here, and the phone never rang, so not sure who she called.

Karen - Awesome!! I bet it was wild! Was there a performance or did they help serve, etc.? A couple of my very favorite movies involved guys dressed as women.
Robin Williams in 1.) Mrs. Doubtfire and 2.) The Birdcage. I'm putting them back at the top of the "watch" list. Actually, I'd love a Robin Williams weekend! He was such a versatile actor.
So sad that he took his own life, I just read he had depression and other mental health problems, and likely undiagnosed Lewy Body Disease, the symptoms mimicking Parkinson's.
Mother's Day is winding down. Our friends brought over a gorgeous flower arrangement for me, picked up the rest of the branches they didn't have room for last weekend (plus chain sawed a few more). And, I mentioned I needed to go into DH's shop to grab something but most of the shop lights had dead bulbs.
That's all it took, they grabbed the stepladder and the new flourescent bulbs and went to work. DH says it looks like a tanning booth in there now. I told him it was his early Father's Day present.
I took the Camry for a spin this afternoon, battery stayed charged and it handled much better with inflated tires, lol.
I have so much to be grateful for.
Have a good week, ladies!

I had a bad diet day. I got into my mom's chocolate. That's going to be a big temptation all week. Hopefully my resistance will be higher tomorrow because I really want that scale to show another loss. And I know it's not good for my body to spend my calories on sugar.
I walked 30 minutes today and my knee is now stiff. I wanted to start marching and yoga again tomorrow but my knee isn't ready. It still gives me trouble on the stairs too, even with a brace.
Teddy boo is snoring. Such a peaceful dog.

My mother's day gift was the load of fine black bark that was delivered last month. I had a lovely day that included spreading some of it along with walking with a friend this morning and walking a lot with the dogs. I don't expect calls from any of Jake's children or grandchildren so I wasn't surprised when only one of them called. I am not a holiday person so my day was perfect. The sun came out in the afternoon. Who could ask for anything more.
