DH is not feeling very well today. I hoped we could do some food shopping together. Instead, I’ll pick up medicine for him and visit the grocery store for food items. Today I’ll be the go-for— As in go for prescriptions & go for groceries. I miss grocery shopping together. :ohwell:7

Heaven gained two "Good Fellas" this week. Ray Liotta and my Italian husband.
Long story, but he collapsed early Saturday morning and I called the ambulance. They transported him to the ER, and finally he had all of the tests he'd been avoiding. Circulation was virtually nil in his legs from blocked arteries, heart also in bad shape. Liver failing, kidneys failing, and he had pneumonia.
Last night at 8:30 he went to join Sophie and his many buddies. My friend Tiff and I were there with him.
Nurses came in frequently and checked on him. Among his last intelligible words:"I haven't had this many different women touching my d*ck since I was 18."
Good fella and smart *kitten* until the very end. That was him. I'm gonna miss him a lot.
It's going to be a busy week.

I am also very unhappy with my neighbors today. Unprovoked, their Brindle German Shepard came into my yard and attacked my 18mos old chocolate lab. My son was able to physically remove the shepard off of our pup, but still our lab sustained multiple wounds. Son and husband are at the Vet ER. I'm hoping that most of the wounds are superficial, but they are finding many deep puncture wounds and these, of course, need to be checked out. The neighbors are, understandably, upset by their dog's behavior ... but to be honest, he's a very strange dog and they have told me more than once that he is not to be trusted. So why do they leave him out without being tied or fenced?? Our poor lab didn't have a clue as to what to do.
He was overtired and overheated, having just had a play session out back ... he was just trotting along in his own yard minding his own business when the other dog charged him. Poor Cecil ... he just cried and cried as the other dog tried to kill him. The neighbors have called me and come over twice to find out how our lab is doing. I don't know yet and I'm not really wanting to talk to them at the moment.
And just to add more fun to our day, I buried the John Deere in mud while mowing ... sigh.

Afternoon ladies
Lanette- my deepest condolences.. Im so very sorry for your loss but he sounds like he was a hoot and was cracking jokes right up until the end ..may he rest in peace.. you know you always have us in your back pocket when you need us xoxo.
Lisa- yikes that looks like a good gash...but Tom would have been the same way..
I took my brother out to lunch today at a nice restaurant on the river... it was sooo nice just for us to get together ..its been ages..so all in all a great weekend..
He is coming down to meet Miles tomorrow.3 -
Beth, I just have no words. I genuinely hope at a minimum they plan to pick up the vet's bill for Cecil. That's literally criminal neglect on their part, to leave the Shepherd loose. OK, I was wrong, and I did have words. I hope Cecil is OK. These kind of attacks can leave dogs with a form of PTSD, bless them. Cecil's sweet temperament and all the love for him in your family may help him ride it out, though. Thinking about you.3

I am very sorry Cecil was attacked by the neighbor’s dog. At the very least, the neighbors should pay Cecil’s vet bill. I hope he’ll recover fully from his injuries. ❤️
I’ve done my errands for the day. Groceries are in the refrigerator waiting their turn to be cooked. 😊3 -

Lanette, I am so sorry about your husband. Hugs.
Beth, prayers for your sweet pup.
I’m feeling sad, guilty, angry and excited this week. Excited because I am attending Annual Conference this week as a district member at large. The last two years were virtual, and I’m excited to see my friends from across the conference in person again. Sad because my Dad is deteriorating and needs even more attention. Guilty because I can’t be there for my mother and fulfill my church obligations both. And angry because I feel guilty and can’t enjoy my feelings of excitement. Also angry because my mother refuses to even consider paying outside help. My sister is due to come back next week, but I don’t know how long she expects us to just stop our own lives to sit with Daddy. If we could just pay for an outside sitter a couple of nights a week it would help so much.9 -
Beth so sad that Cecil was attacked. Hoping he recovers well.

Lanette - so sorry to hear about your DH. Glad you were able to be with him.
KJ - hope you are feeling better soon. That is a bummer getting sick whenever you have time off.
Beth - I would say they owe your vet bills at the very least and should be reported for letting their dog run loose especially if he is not trustworthy. Hope Cecil recovers OK.
DD and I got fence put up on the dog run so we can use it again. Yay us!
Every one take care and enjoy the holiday if you have one, Sue in WA5 -
Beth I'm sorry to hear about Cecil 💞 I hope that he will recover quickly.0

Worked today then went to a friend’s house to pick up a bisque manatee then in the pool. Probably the same tomorrow except I don’t have to go to the friend’s house. I’m going to try to get to the gym to do a body pump DVD tomorrow
Woo hoo! I have a 2 day streak! Yea me!
KJ – I hope Urgent Care helps you. Get better fast
Lanette – I’m so very sorry for your loss. Your hubby certainly had a sense of humor up until the end. He must have been one heck of a guy (then again, he married you)
I guess in a way I was hoping Vince would change his mind about going to Denise’s, but he’s about to cancel the hotel reservation so I guess we’re only going for the one day. Yes, it makes me sad, but at the same time, if we stayed it would be, in a sense, saying that what Denise did is OK
Beth – (((HUG))) for you. Good thoughts for Cecil
Katie – I’m so sorry you’re going thru this

Well, our pup will eventually be ok... A wound on the front leg is minor, hardly broke the skin. One on the back shoulder is one they can irrigate and clean and let it heal from inside out. But the one on stomach is a pocketed wound that vet suggested we put in a drain so fluids don’t pool and cause an abscess. He will come home with a cone. In a few days we take him to our vet and he'll remove the tube if it looks ok and then put in stitches.. Sutures removed 10-14 days later. He will come home on antibiotics etc...This will be pretty costly in the end.13

Does anyone have a site that gives you a recipe AND the nutritional information? Sparkrecipes used to be good, but, of course, they are no longer around. I'm looking for a recipe for a salmon loaf that's pretty good on the calories.
Beth - so glad to hear Cecil will be OK.

Beth - so glad to hear Cecil will be ok, I would just bring a copy of the bill to the neighbor.

Lanette - I’m sorry for your loss.
Lisa - that looks like quite the gash on Corey’s leg.
Beth - I hope the neighbours take this seriously and do something to keep him tied. Also, pay the vet bills for poor Cecil.
Katie - I think your Mom is being unreasonable. Maybe another discussion needs to be had about her well being and yours and your sisters.
Michele - I’m sorry you aren’t getting to stay longer. I wouldn’t punish myself by not staying and visiting with PJ longer. Denise and Jess will have to work it out for themselves. They are adults. You should be able to see Denise too.
Reunions- I didn’t graduate so have only attended my husband’s 10th. My ex fiancé was there and I found it awkward.
My BF and I have been friends since
grade 2. We have a private reunion as often as we can get together.
I have actually planned and coordinated a family reunion and it was a lot of fun.
I went to my cousins 65th surprise party on Saturday and didn’t get home until almost midnight. I so enjoy visiting with family. I don’t do it often enough so always overstay my welcome. Well I think so, she disagrees.
Yesterday I went to visit Kaitlyn and Brodey. They are hurting terribly, but are really supporting each other.
I wish there were things we could do for our loved ones in these situations.

Beth - I really feel for you about your dog. These things really are traumas, for you and him, and need a lot of working through. We had a beloved cat attacked by another cat when I was about 10 years old. She had to be put down, the injuries were so severe. I never got over it. I hope you will be able to communicate with the neighbours in a way that is helpful to both sides. That takes courage and skill. You can do it.
Katie - I hope you enjoy your conference. You need and deserve a break. You are right, boundaries need to be drawn - lovingly. Only you can do that. I send you my best wishes.
Thinking of you, Lanette, while you negotiate this new path. I hope you have support. Don't be afraid to ask for it. Much love.
I'm hoping to chat with my friend L today. I did text yesterday, but she didn't reply. Her sister left yesterday and her friend was there before that. I expect she is socialised and chatted out. Her sister can be very difficult, so I hope it went OK. L is still in quite a bit of pain. I hope my worries are groundless.
Raining this early morning. Such a contrast to yesterday! I will start on my second chapter. I always find quite a bit to edit.

I agree with Tracey ... what happens between your children is their business not yours. They are adults and can make their own decisions. You do what you want to do.
BTW -- don't you often come up with creative stories for why you can't attend events and things?

Oh Lanette! So sorry to hear of your husband's passing! Sending you so much love.
Beth- Sorry to hear of your dog being attacked. And in his own yard, poor thing!
Michele- I am sorry you will be cutting your trip to see Denise/PJ short. This is an opportunity to bond with your grandson. I would say, let your daughters sort out their own problems with each other. THAT SAID, as a parent, I find it is my duty to hold a mirror up to my children's face and call them on their BS. We all need that, sometimes.
No kids today. I am waiting for the results of the official covid test. I took a couple of those home tests in the past week and they came back negative; but they gave me the more invasive (swab up the nose to the brain) one at the doc's office, yesterday. The doc agrees with my self diagnosis, that it is just a nasty cold virus that I have, but he did give me a script for an antibiotic to see if it will move things along quicker. In the meantime, my glands are still swollen and achy and I was up all last night coughing. I am glad I cancelled childcare for today. I am exhausted.
Love and hugs to all who need them. ttfn xoxoxoxo KJ (Kelly)4 -
Kelly- im so sorry you had a yucky weekend and ,smart idea to cancel todays daycare..im hoping the antibiotic kicks that right out of your system...i have been awake since 3 this morninf so it will be a nap day today lol.. oh well it is what it is...
Hoping my brother comes to meet his great nephew today.2 -
Took so much time to catch up-I do not advise taking two weeks off-but that was just how life went. Can’t respond to everything but a couple:
Pip-so sorry the problem with cruise occurred and then your fall. Perhaps there will turn out to be a reason for delayed cruise. Heal well.
Tracey-sorry for loss of grandchild. I had a miscarriage at just shy of three months. Doctor told me they realize how common they are when we got the earlier pregnancy testing. It is still very traumatic. I got pregnant again 10 days after miscarriage!
Lanette-what a sudden loss. His final comment sounds so much like something my husband would have said! Take your time, don’t rush decisions. Grieving is personal and you need to handle it in your own way.
Reunions-haven’t gone to a high school one. Our 50th is this year-I only went to the hs I graduated from for 1.5 years. Had a class of @ 800. No real desire to attend. Have been bake to college a couple of times. May go to homecoming this fall since college is in Ohio and after I move next year I doubt I would fly back for that.
Stupid health issue.Had another UTI bout. It delayed the last test they are currently doing to evaluate things. I go for cysto tomorrow. Hopefully they have plan. They didn’t call with any lab results-I want to make sure they sent it out for detailed testing. I think it is important to be sure what bacteria is present. Feeling a bit less tired the last two days (antibiotics done).
Spent long weekend resting-Saturday was lots of napping and couch time. Did get decent walks in each day and grocery shopping, laundry, basic cleaning.
Sending good thoughts to all-especially those going through hard times. Off to get ready for work. 10 more months as it currently stands. Can change at any time!
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio
