Good morning ladies!
It seems like my dad really is just fine. We are so lucky! He has peripheral neuropathy, which means bad balance. Then he walks three miles in 58 minutes, and comes home tired and wobbly. We are lucky he doesn't fall down more often.
And my mom's wellness visit is done. The nurse was very chatty. My mom repeated herself like she does. And she said she didn't need help with laundry, cooking or shopping. That kinda hurt. Mom does need help but won't admit it. She even said she could carry the laundry down the stairs. No way! The nurse suggested mom use a cane to walk around. Anyway, it was a long day.
Today is mostly open. I might go visit my aunt.

@TerriRichardson112 @cityjaneLondon thanks for the shout outs!
Today okay so far in some levels. not many steps. food relatively light. Had a felafel minus the bread out at lunch. surely among the cheapest non sandwich meals out to be had. A felafel plate cost twice, so I said I'd order the felafel and just eat around it (I'm GF). finally he gave me the innards on a plate. It was good, with a cup of non-sweet Marocain green tea. The felafel balls were good. the green tea so so but can't beat the price.
only 2300 steps so far today. 18000 yesterday though! An 60-80 min walk yesterday (about 8500 steps) plus several errands.
lots to do and I need a little break.4 -
@cityjaneLondon I can relate about needing to pull back on calories with lesser exercise.
When very young I ate a lot and exercised a lot, partly to burn it off, and partly out of antsy ness. Older I found it way less time and energy consuming to eat less and exercise just moderately normally. Now I'm exercising even less and am facing challenge of slow creep. I have gained about
a kilo per year. 7700 calories in a kilo. That makes about 21 calories per day. That's almost nothing. so incidental. but over 10 years...it adds up. it's like some literature saying. (I'm unable to find it, does anyone know it). something to the effect of.
2O pounds a year income and 19,97 spent adds up to happiness and 20 pounds a year income and 20,03 spent adds up to hell.
Anyone know the precise quote and where it comes from? it's some classical English literature I'm pretty sure.... same with calories anyway.0 -
Lisa’s Egg. Having a good time at 50th HS reunion! Some unexpectedly warm greetings have really humbled my heart. Yesterday, with my closest friends, went around to 3 of the small local cemeteries and found several family graves, as well as those of some dear friends. Got too much sun & hot wind, so cheeks are rosy. Brunch this morning and pictures/dinner/DJ tonight. One more visit to a grave marker our class bought for one of our classmates. Should be a good day. Home tomorrow.4

Good morning lovely ladies! This week has been a struggle....I'm tired and have had a headache every day, thankfully none bad or migraine like but very frustrating. I lose all motivation in the evening when I feel this way. The scale is somehow down slightly this morning which is encouraging but still not where I had hoped. I'm also feeling very emotional for no real reason. Okay, I know a little bit why but still no reason to want to cry. The weather is very up and down so that doesn't help. Time to check off my "to do" list and hopefully that will improve my mood along with a nice nap this afternoon!
Have a fabulous day and enjoy your long weekend for anyone in the US, it was our turn last weekend here in Canada!

First, we would all do well to remember the frequently quoted Mr Micawber principle. His advice in David Copperfield was this: 'Annual income 20 pounds, annual expenditure 19 [pounds] 19 [shillings] and six [pence], result happiness. Annual income 20 pounds, annual expenditure 20 pounds ought and six, result misery. '
I've lost around a pound this week, mighty relieved. I hope I can keep this up. 3 weeks until the cruise.
My back is still improving, so I'm up to 600 a day now and will hold it at that. I am spending 20 minutes of that on back stretching and strengthening.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx4 -
Shelley from PEI — Welcome! What a beautiful place! My first thought was Anne of Green Gables. Loved that series and watched it with my son & daughter many years ago. ⭐️1

Thanks Lisa and Michele. It's just heartbreaking. I want to cry for her. I can't do anything and you know how that is when your child is hurting and you can't fix it! C'est la vie.
Well, it's the Vixen's last regular season game tonight! WISH THEM LUCK! They're in NB.
It's much more windy and started out stormy in MN today. Was absolutely GORGEOUS yesterday. Now we're looking at maybe 80 and humid! I'm am NOT a humid person! But I'll take the sun over clouds.
We're going to try to enjoy the weekend with something a little special. Tomorrow is our 41st wedding anniversary! The kids gave us a wonderful party last year, so it's a quiet dinner and probably a little road trip this year.

I hope you have a wonderful time. I love reunions- I am in charge of my class. Just had a combination class(our reunion was canceled because of covid so the next class added us in so we worked together, then they added two more classs-it was a lot of fun but our next one will be just the two classes I think.
Having Facebook has really helped reconnect with classmates but also, you get to see what they look like now and not be totally shocked at how much they have changed in 40-50 yrs

I've never been to a reunion. I had just moved to Australia when my class has their 25th. Later, some of my cousins put on a big extended family reunion, but I think that was in the year of my husband's accident and we couldn't go.

Me neither! There is one the end of this month, but its like $70 for the evening meal, plus $70 for spouses, then the cost of hotel and gas. I really have only kept in contact with two of my girlfriends from high school, and one of them is from grade school, so she's a keeper. But other than that, it would be strange. It is my 42nd but the committee has been trying to host the 40th for 2 years now. I told the gal that contacted me that I was heading to Oregon in June, so I would have to decline but thanks for the invite.👍

I am glad you are having a good time. The unexpected warm greetings are the BEST-
I never talked to anyone in school, with the exception of maybe 5-6 people.
At the reunions, everyone is just happy to see each other. The little cliques are gone.0 -

Our class was always low key and a small school so our reunions are always bbq at someone's ranch or winery(hey, we grew up in wine country so many to choose from).
We have been charging $35 for one $50 for couple.
A few have mentioned doing a cruise but only a very few would go and everyone else is left out.
If anyone messages me and says they want to come but really can't afford it, the class fund covers it.
This year it was the class behind us's year and they included us because our 40th was canceled. (I had the perfect date for that one picked 10/10/20 which equals 40 - started out Class of 80 and 81then the one in charge of 81 added 79 and 82 plus a few 83. It was fun but will change a few things next time. I was in charge of the raffle table- we did great but I didn't get to visit with people unless they came over and I was at the back fence. I did see most of those I wanted to but it went by too fast. Looking forward to 2025 for our 45th reunion.
Mom just went to her reunion and had a great time. She hasn't been to but maybe one(she didn't graduate with her class. Married at 14 plus some of the reunions were just like yours, too expensive). One of her best friends posted about the reunion on line so I contacted her and between her and I, made sure mom went this time. She is so glad she did. This one was just $20 and she went with her cousin who was in the same class.

I went to my 50th High School anniversary. It was okay. The “popular crowd” was there. Some of my friends were also there. My best friend did not go, but I looked up her brother and got a telephone number. She didn’t go to the reunion, but I have been in contact with her ever since then. Best Friends are forever. Sometimes a telephone number is a valuable gift.2

Happy Anniversary Carla!
Landscape guy is working in the rain on the berm out front. It currently has grass and brush on it and has to be mowed 3 or 4 times per summer as the grass gets so high we cannot see traffic coming when we are going out the driveway. He is going to plant the berm with ground covering, low growing geraniums that will come back every year and will crowd out other plants. They will have purple flowers in honor of my mom. He works now with my DD but is planning on starting his own business once his wife finishes law school. He is giving us a discount. The berm has a steep slope and a ditch at the bottom so DD and I cannot reach to mow it and have had to pay to have someone else do it. Hoping this solves the problem.
I have never gone to a high school reunion, never been notified if we had one. I have gone to a few college ones, but tended to keep in touch more with college friends anyway.
DD and I like to do jigsaw puzzles and I picked one up yesterday that was on sale. I got it from a shelf that had 1000-piece puzzles on it but when I got it to the checkout it was 2000 pieces. This will be a fun challenge.

Sue— Thank you for your comments on DH. He is doing okay and I am grateful. Health-care givers regularly come to check on him. It is a better situation than I imagined. So far, so good.3

On our way to KY for long weekend. Yardwork and paperwork on the to do list.
I have been to several family reunions and I believe one HS reunion . I think it was my ex's 10 year. Lots of my classmates were there. I would like to go to this year's reunion. We will see. Most of the people I know were from the classes ahead of me as I took mainly advanced classes. (Yes, I was one of those)
Will check in more later.
Much love,

Jake cut the grass this morning faster than usual because it was about to rain. A little while later, he felt funny and took his blood pressure and it was lower than usual. He took it three times and it continued to drop to a level that was so low that he had me call 9 1 1. They came immediately and took his blood pressure again, sitting and standing and did an EKG. His blood pressure increased to a point where they concluded that he was OK and the EKG showed no serious problems so they could leave and could come back later if necessary. He is feeling much better now. We were reminded that calling 9 1 1 is a good idea even if you think you're being overly cautious.

Oh, such a fright, Barbie. Glad he rallied fairly quickly. Good to call 911.
My elder son has just done his first Audax. Didn't even know he was planning one. Considering he was in hospital last year with heart problems, early signs of diabetes, and obesity, he has done amazingly!
