How quickly do you start losing weight?

I'm a dancer/actress and I recently lost a job because of my size. I'm 5'5", 22, and I weigh 144 pounds. It's noticable on my body and I need to lose the weight. So I've been eating healthier and working out more and I'm not seeing a difference.
What should I do?

Some observations:
- eating healthier is great for... health. For weight loss, you need to reduce the number of calories, are you tracking your food intake?
- increasing exercise can lead to water retention, masking fat loss on the scale.
Aside from that, you haven't given us much info to go on. How long have you been trying to lose weight? What exercise? How many calories are you eating?2 -
If you are eating in a sensible calorie deficit, at your weight/size, you might be able to lose 1/2 a pound a week - you don't have a lot to lose, you are already a healthy weight, so it will be slow, but healthy and sustainable beats the pants off "fast" weight loss. Especially if you want to retain your hard-won muscle (which you do.)

Please don’t try to crash diet. I know you’re frustrated and it’s probably going to be a temptation, but it leads to frustration and failure.
