I don't hate Queen, just THAT song, and The Beatles might be great if I  hadn't worked in Liverpool and had their "greatness" thrust in my face every friggin day!

And if I hear " hey Jude" once more.....

    Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh. Okay. Nevermind then.

Potter is a bunch of kids books based in fantasy.

If you can describe them that way, you can't possibly have read them.

The entire story is an analogy of WWII. I know Rowling claims she wasn't thinking of Hitler when she created Voldemort, but if you think about it, a lot of the characters take on the roles of the Allied and Axis countries and the whole "pure race" stuff even though Voldemort himself was half muggle (Hitler had Jewish ancestry) tells me she's full of it on that.

It's a great story. The first two books are a little on the young side for reading, but after that it's pretty dark and deep.

Maybe you only watched the movies, though. They aren't as detailed and leave a lot of important things out.

I don't think that any of that means that she based Voldemort on Hitler............ there have been many, many other bad guys in history besides Hitler, and the majority of them believed in some kind of racial/caste/class/etc superiority... and racism and belief in class/caste superiority exists the world over. I can see a lot of parallels between the "pure blood" wizards and muggles, and the British aristocracy and common people. It needn't actually be an analogy to race... caste and class elitism also exists, and those kinds of attitudes are found pretty much everywhere there are humans. As are despotic leaders who actively encourage those kinds of beliefs and use them to gain popularity and power. I think JK Rowling simply wanted to make a point about where those kinds of beliefs ultimately lead and why it's better to reject them.

ETA: I'm not saying that the pure blood/muggle thing is based on the British aristocracy etc.... I'm saying you can pick pretty much any example of any caste, class or apartheid system and say it fits how voldermorte etc are.

    nirvana was over rated

I never did get the fascination with them... was it posthumous love for a guy who blew his brains out with a shot gun?

Foo Fighters > Nirvana and I am not a huge fan of the Foo Fighters...

It is not that I disliked Grunge ... oh wait it is that I disliked Grunge...
