At 125 Calories, I would posit that Guinness is a light beer.

Here's the only thing I read:
I don't log feed days, I only log fast days.
    Wait.

[edit to delete awesome gif which was perfect.]

    uh. wut?
You're obviously ignorant of the 5:2 diet. You're not supposed to log or count on feed days, just eat normally.

the 5:2 diet is fasting 2 days, eating normally 5. You are not doing that. I specifically checked because I saw '500' as a goal and clicked back many days, thinking that might have just been a fast day.

I saw your diary and remembered it specifically because it was so cray. You were not skipping days, every one of them was under 500, except the natty ice day.

Though, yeah, if I were still drinking natty ice at that point in my life I would be angry too.

but she doesn't log when she eats...... only when she doesn't eat anything.......

    duh

An ED is a mental problem. It is not something you catch from people on the Internet.

...And where do you think people desperate to lose weight get ED ideas? *headdesk*

No idea, but I bet a fat person can come up with the idea of eating less/nothing with or without our help.

I will not argue that. People are always quite capable of doing stupid stuff on their own.

But to claim that ED behavior is not something that can be learned or "caught" through the internet is utter bullsh*t. I speak from firsthand experience, here.

K, awesome, let's ban poptart and ice cream thread because someone _might_ learn binging from them?

    Ridiculous.

That's a poor comparison. That's like saying let's ban poptart and ice cream threads because someone might learn purging from them. One has nothing to do with the other. You're not allowed to promote binge eating, same as a VLCD. If I title a thread "Looking for Binge Eating Support" and I don't mean recovering from, I'm going to catch flack, and it's going to get deleted. We're allowed to promote ice cream and poptarts. We're not allowed to promote binge eating, because yes, that might trigger someone.

Are you doing some other form of fasting? Intermittent Fasting (IF) does not typically have very low calorie days. ESE, maybe? This is a great resource on IF if you'd like the specifics: http://www.leangains.com/2010/04/leangains-guide.html. :flowerforyou:
5:2 Fasting. Two days a week you eat under 500, and the other days you eat at your TDEE. Mine is 1700 but I usually go a little over.
    hangry
You wish, lol. I'm hardly ever hungry.

Got it! I was just curious because there are some hormonal things to be cautious of if you combine IF (shortened eating window) with fast days like 5:2 or ESE.

How about good luck and moving on. If you all were such experts, you wouldn't have ended up on MFP in the first place. What works for one may not work for another and if it is supervised by a professional, who are you to judge. If you do not agree, simple move to the next thread.

Hello pot...this is kettle. Really? No one is judging. If everyone were experts then there'd be no MFP. People can offer opinions and suggestions and try to actually steer people from doing possible damage to themselves.

The OP lost all that weight on their own without this. Which great job btw op!!!

Thank you. I did lose the weight simply by eating less and moving more...nothing extreme. I have made many positive changes, the biggest being drinking water instead of soda and falling in love with an active lifestyle. Instead of sitting around watching TV and barely living...I am going places...hiking, kayaking, cycling, roller skating, taking kick boxing, boxing, spinning and other classes.

However, it has been 6 months since I have made any progress, despite regular calorie deficits. I am still at least 100 pounds overweight. I don't need to lose weight quickly...but nothing for 6 months is too slow. I argued with the doctor, dietician and weight loss counselor, I shouldn't have to eat 600 calories/day to lose weight. I can follow the plan and eat up to 850, but they want me at about 600, with an expected loss of 3 to 5 pounds per week. I have told them, I don't need to lose that quickly.

I started the program 08/08. And so far all it has encouraged for me is extreme eating. I haven't been able to stay on it...which is why I was looking for friends doing a similar program.

Well, whichever way you choose to go about it.... I hope you find the way to make progress soon. Congrats on your weight loss progress so far, that's amazing. Don't let anyone minimize it.

You might consider looking into the weight loss surgery groups, as they have the same calorie goals, I believe. Other than that, sorry I have no better advice!

it also solves the problem that lady was having the other day who wanted to deactivate because she couldn't figure out how to log quickly.

    2 birds, 1 stone.

I would recommend a second opinion also. This sounds very drastic to me. There are many doctors who do things that a majority of the medical community would disagree with. Just because they have an MD behind their name, doesn't mean they are right.

I understand your point, but Henry Ford Medical Centers are really big in Michigan. I'm not just dealing with my doctor, these are specialists. I'm not making it on my own now, so I sought out the experts. I feel like I should at least try to listen to them. I honestly don't know if I can.

you ahve stopped losing weight becasue your body thinks it is in starvation (it is) you will have to eat less and less to lose The body is shutting down because it is not getting enough food. Do you plan to eat this way forever?

When you eat normally again such as carbs ect, you will put that weight back on so fast. Also, if you lose too fast on high protein look for gallstones, and kidney problems.

You can't stick to it for a reason, it is unreasonable. I lost 90lbs before MFP by eating food 1600 calories per day, and movement.

you wouldn't understand. I assume you have enough time in your day to tie your shoes. only those of us who wear slip ons because we can't spare even 15 seconds know what's up.

My goal from the beginning was to average between 1500 and 1800 calories a day, and I would eat more when I was more active. I decided this because I thought this was what I would be able to eat and maintain a normal weight once I got there. I did nothing really extreme until I started this program 08/08.

Grew up near Detroit, and unfortunately my family has experience with the different hospital systems in Michigan. Just because Ford is big, doesn't make it best. You already sound uncomfortable with the advice you're being given--prime opportunity for a second opinion. Perhaps the U of Michigan Medical Center?

Sorry this got so derailed OP (it'll happen with these). I obviously don't know better than your specific doctors, but if you really feel you can't do it (and I don't blame you, that is not a lot of calories), I would urge you to seek a second opinion. The most successful people tend to pick a plan they know they can stick with forever. There are tweaks along the way, but it shouldn't be this drastic. Congratulations on the weight you have lost so far.

Side Bar...But is there like a different henry ford who was a great doctor or is it named after the guy who invented the automobile.

On topic...So if they can think you can lose 3-5 lbs a week eating 600 calories, why don't they think you can eat 1500 calories a day and lose 1-3 lbs?

are you sure your calorie counting is complete and correct? have you recalculated your goal calories as you have lost weight? etc. there are reasons why you are not losing. it's just a matter of figuring them out. i would advise that before trying something extreme like this diet.
