Still way behind, but just had to congratulate Heather on publishing her book. Bravissima! Brava also for figuring out what unsettled you and thank you for all the gorgeous kids in Slovenia pics. Best of all is being the kind of friend in whom your friend L could confide her dark thoughts.
Likewise couldn’t go further without saluting Karen’s brother’s gorgeous painting. Is that an egret? the colors.
Through pg 41 and savoring everyone’s posts. Skimming leaves me unsatisfied

Barbara— I like your words, “be still & listen” & also “move more, fuel better, live NOW.” Well said! 💕1

You know, one thing about the barcode thing, say the item is already in the database. When you use the barcode scan thing, it puts it into the database again. I only need it in there once.
Allie – can Tracey express her milk and have it there for you to give Miles rather than you having to go to her?
Heather – I was a big watch person, too. Always wore and used one. Ever since I’ve been working at BK and my hands are always in water, I’ve been getting used to looking at the time on my phone or someplace else. But it’s still sometimes a pain. I feel for ya, I know how lost the feeling can be.
Melsthe winner – welcome! Fantastic goal!

On Cybersecurity:
Australia's government has a page with tips etc. for cybersecurity: https://www.cyber.gov.au/acsc/individuals-and-families
For example: How to check your email account security:
https://www.cyber.gov.au/acsc/view-all-content/guidance/how-check-your-email-account-security-outlook
Identifying a Phishing Scam Email:
https://www.cyber.gov.au/acsc/view-all-content/threats/phishing
And a whole lot more information.
The governments of your various countries probably have something like this too.
Also, your local library or council may offer courses on cybersecurity awareness. If you've got a carer's organisation, they may offer courses too. And seniors organisations might offer courses/events now an then.
Our brain injury organisation just did a session on cybersecurity. We weren't able to attend, but they sent us the information from the session.
Our local university has an open course on cybersecurity which I may take at some point:

Michele - I’m so happy you get to go see Denise. I would be going to see Jess with or without Vince. I go visit my girls all the time without Rodger. If I waited for him I would never see them.
Machka - Happy Anniversary!
Heather - an important lesson.
I would do the party alone too in your shoes. A lot of time I am alone doing things for the same reasons.
We have a blind store that does repairs here for much less than new. Maybe there is one near you as well.
Carla - They are cutting it close to the wire aren’t they?
Sue - glad the PT is starting to help.
I wouldn’t want to go to classical music either.
Allie - I hope my girls with whatever they need. I also take care of the grands a lot, I feel that is my role as a Grandmother. My grandmother was very involved and I aim to be like her.
I agree he should be, but that’s a bit of a trigger for me because my DH wouldn’t watch our girls either if he was home and I was at work.
Vicki - that’s one thing I don’t miss at a about being a supervisor or manager. There was also something to be picked up in a 24/7 situation.
Beth - I hope you are able to find something for you Mom near you without too much issue.
Karen - my husband is a “might need it” person. I on the other hand get rid of things and then purchasing something similar later on. There must be a happy medium somewhere.
I would never be a minimalist, I enjoy the items I have and they make me smile.
I wish I had had more time to go through my Grandparents house. I think a lot got demolished that shouldn’t have.
Yay for the weight loss!
Tina - what a great idea with the battery candles. I may steal that.
Michele - it’s good that they actually ask if you have any medical conditions. My grandmother had her drivers license renewal mailed to her at 93 years of age, she didn’t need to do anything except send money. She actually did renew it even though she hadn’t driven in 5 years or so.
I was just thinking the other night I needed to find a place for someone to piece and quilt some embroidered blocks my Mom made. I have enough blocks for a quilt for myself, my brother and her 3 grandchildren.
Annie - I hope your Father wasn’t scammed and all is ok.
Rebecca - I think of an item you loved isn’t being cherished it’s perfectly acceptable to ask for it back.
We had a wonderful little trip away. We are going to go back next year I think.
DH goes back to work tomorrow. I am going with my eldest and Grands to my youngest. We are setting the camper and a tent up. Three other young Moms and their children are coming as well. I am looking forward to it.

Rebecca,
You could ask your sister if you could borrow the clock for awhile. I swap art and other things with my daughter-in-law. She started it when she realized a Klimt print she owned would look perfect in my living room. I've had it for 5 years; I just returned it to her recently.

Tracey - Lovely pics! You and your DH have beautiful skin. But then, you are sweet young things.
I'm delighted the blinds are gone. I'm not really a curtain, or blind, person. We had none at all on the ground floor in our last house and I've had none in any of the living rooms I've lived in. I wouldn't bother for these, apart from the blinding sunlight from the west. I have an electric one for the skylight, which I use every day in the summer. We did need the blinds in the recent heatwaves, but I would prefer an awning. DH is not up for an awning.
We may not replace them with anything, but I would like to get an idea of costs and options. You can get nice voile roman blinds, or 'mineral' roller blinds, that are see through. Might go for those. Light and white.
The family's plane was two hours late yesterday, but they are home safely. Lunch tomorrow
We are looking after them on Tuesday morning for a few hours. Not sure exactly when school goes back. Max will be going to his new secondary school. He has to get the school bus from near his house, as the school is in the next town.
I'm catching the train from our very small, local, halt station just after 13.00. Then catching the train back to Hove around 18.30. It's a short taxi ride from there. I usually walk, but I know I'll be too tired.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx3 -
Gardening and cycling today ...
Machka in Oz1 -
Making a little bit of progress on the dry stream in the front yard.
At the top (or to the right in a couple of the photos), the lavender in pots will be planted in the soil. Hopefully it will fluff out into a decent lavender bush.
The white tile will hold an imitation pool which I'll create with epoxy resin. I hope. I have what's needed to do that, but will need to practice a bit.
There will be a plastic waterfall off the edge. I hope. We'll see how it goes.
The waterfall will drop into the colourful bowl you see which will be another pool. The bowl will be modified a bit to make it a little more pool-like. I hope.
Stay tuned for more!

Happy Saturday Ladies!
Watches - I haven't worn one consistently in years, and only pay attention to the clock if I need to be somewhere at a certain time. When I go to town, even in my garden sweats, I put on earrings and my watch in an effort to "dress up" lol. I fit right in with the rest of my community.
On relationships in our older age- while I don't think I'd ever marry again, I have come to the conclusion I wouldn't mind a boyfriend...at some point... who is 10 years younger than me and in good health and handy like Red Green, lol. He doesn't have to be handsome!
A good friend of mine did marry a guy 9 years younger than herself years ago when she was in her late 40's and he was in his late 30's. He's a gem.
Another acquaintance was married to a guy who developed a chronic, debilitating disease. I can't recall if it was something like ALS or cancer or what, but she ran their small business in addition to being the business accountant and his caretaker. He eventually passed, she was lonely and found another guy she thought she knew and they were married. Shortly after the "I do", he admitted to her he was suffering from something (no outward signs yet) but figured she'd be a great wife because she was such a good caretaker for her previous husband = experienced nurse!
She burned rubber getting that marriage annulled. Decided to move to another city near her daughter and grandchildren and lived the rest of her life content with a great view of the ocean from her little condo.
On decluttering as a widow or getting ready to move - I have just about done a 180 in my views about selling and thinning out DH's "collection" in his shop. For one thing, many items I touch bring back a flood of memories right now, and there's no rush. I realize now, perhaps that's the reason he didn't want to part with things over time .... it wasn't necessarily a memory issue up until the last year or so of his life.
I've run across a rock tumbler, metal detector, wood burning set... and I've only just started. I might have some new hobbies soon.
I am seeing things through his eyes now that the fog has lifted.
Karen - sending you strength as you continue to prepare for your move. Love the Nebraska photo.
Ginny - staying in the area to continue being close to your siblings makes sense.
Vicki - hoping the blood tests and doc visit are good news. Your insurance company limiting the number of chiro visits which you don't abuse anyhow is maddening. I'm sending a virtual cast iron skillet flying toward them. So glad retirement isn't that far away anymore for you.
Rosemarie - many years ago I was a hospice volunteer for a gentleman who had ALS. He was in a motorized wheelchair, still very conversant but unable to be left by himself, so I'd give the wife a break while she ran to town to shop. When my DH was diagnosed with RA in the late 90's and then his cognitive decline for the past several years, I squirreled away "nursing home money" - thinking we might need to have savings to pay for help for him for many years. I had started to put out feelers before he had a heart attack then was hospitalized and passed quickly.
Katla - your daughter's use of your car makes me wonder if she had concerns about the car's condition or your driving, even if she had no reason to. Kids can be overly protective, she might be noticing things - likely unwarranted, but nonetheless wants you to be safe. Hope you and your DH and her can have a good conversation and get this situation cleared up. I'm so lucky that my DH was willing to give up driving so easily.
Beth - sending strength. Good luck with the paperwork and cleaning out your mom's stuff. Hope your son's migraine is better.
So many more of you I want to comment on but didn't take notes and need to get busy. Today is apple dehydrating day. We have a high of 70 predicted so I can run the dehydrator in the house.
Make it a great weekend. Welcome new ladies!
