Well Sept 1 down and AF so yeah
FAIR day---those sticks are going to be waving and I pray I have a fun 'booth' mate.
Tonight I should get off around 8-9pm So it may be a long day. I don't start though until 11am. But my normal schedule will be start times 8:30-9:30. Quitting time depends on the volume of people, anywhere from 6pm-9pm. I will be one of the first to raise my hand to volunteer to go home.
Have a great Friday everyone and I will check in later7 -
Just re-read Catch 22 last week. After 50 years...
Day Two of Wine vs Water [bloop bloop] 🐠🐟7 -
Hi, all. Great seeing you @Stockholm_Andy. Still thinking about your Mallorca trip. That is on my short list for sure.
Goal:
M-Th AF
F-Su <2
Weekday abstinence is easier for me because it doesn't take up space in my head. I mostly don't think about it. Weekends, OTOH, are a constant internal negotiation.
Hiking in a remote spot with my cousin the last 2 weeks of Sept and won't track anything - food or bev. Hoping the extra activity balances the extra eating & drinking. My cousin talks a good game about wine indulgence, but she is more likely to order a coffee in the cocktail hour before dinner and I have never, ever seen her overconsume. We are the exact same size, so my plan is to take things at her pace. We are 2 weeks apart in age, and she is the closest thing I have to a sister.6 -
I had a wonderful day with my boys and their families.
9/1 AF
9/2 AF
These are my grandbabies and the teddy bears I had made out of their Papa's shirts.

Hello everyone!
AF tonight after working a long day at the fair. Started at the 'treasury' at 11:30 am and ended in the 'treasury' at 8:30 pm.
Oh and the fun news.......The supervisor who did not want me to play with my sticks you ask? Well I have converted her (sorta) she first said I could not use them. I respectfully asked why? She finally said she didn't like them and then said that was not a good enough reason to ban them.....later in the afternoon she came up to my booth window and said, you know that looks pretty good from outside the booth. Yep I know that. So they can stay with no animosity.
So I have to be back tomorrow at 8:30am and will work until 9pm or there abouts all weekend. Off on Tuesday and Wednesday.
have a great night7 -
Happy Weekend All! I guess it's a long one for many of you as its Labour day on Monday in the US right?
I hope you all hit your goals for Friday! And if you didn't well at least its a learning experience right?
Another night AF for me so 13 now. I'm going to aim for the whole of September. I've never managed a month before so I've no idea if I can manage that long with out giving into temptation, However, I do know these threads keep me accountable so if I keep posting then even if I wobble I can get back on track.
I have a busy day of DIY ahead of me today putting the finishing touches to a Vanity Unit/Storage Combo I'm building in my daughters room. I'd usually lubricate that with post lunch beers as I work but not today. I actually have some AF beer in the cooler but it's not quite the same so they tend to just sit there while I have a diet soda.
Good luck one and all!!!

Sept: 1 AF day done
I found something I like a lot that seems to calm me: Silk Almond Milk - Chocolate flavor. I wish it had less sugar but 4 oz of that at night hits the spot. It's my faux-Baileys.
@lmlmrn one of these days I am quitting my corporate insanity job with zero work-life balance and will work seasonal "fun jobs" like fairs and glamorous special events. Can't wait.
@Breathe57103 your grandkids are super-adorable! What fun.
It's roasting hot here so I am starting my holiday weekend on the "right foot": going out running at 5 a.m. before the sun comes up. I'm improving, at 47 minutes nonstop running in hills and almost 90 F weather.

I love this group ❤️
I have greatly reduced my drinking since June and had a great month in August with 26 out of 31 AF days. This month I am trying to be mindful and make self care a priority.
9/1: AF
9/2: AF10 -
Finished Aug with 15 AF and 16 A - not my best month but a vast improvement to daily drinking.

@Breathe57103 - Adorable picture of your grandkids! I love the idea of the teddy bears from your husband's shirts. Very creative and you are more than talented taking it from a concept to actually handing them the bears. The their names and ❤️ Papa is a nice touch.5

Another evening with a nice bottle of wine, chicken sausage gumbo and Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power.
Sept accountability: 0 days AF
Alcohol: 2 days (4 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.6 -
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone 😊 I drank on Thursday but not yesterday, even though my husband was drinking, so I will take that as a win. My goal is half of the month AF so I’m off to a good start. It’s our 6th wedding anniversary today so I will probably have a couple beers. However it isn’t feeling very festive because we still have covid and our kids and sick and crabby. Since we’ve been isolating all week my 3 year old has ODed on TV and it’s turned him into a bit of a monster, so we need to get out of the house after his little brother’s nap. Hoping we can do a little hike somewhere not crowded! Happy weekend, all!9

Thank you @MissMay . So much going on in your world, I really appreciate you keeping us going.
I am Dawn. I live in Cranbrook BC.
I joined this thread in November of 2018 as a daily drinker.
I have found a sweet spot for myself, 16-20 AF days per month.
I had 18 for August.
I will be in Mexico for a good chunk of September and will definitely be having some Margaritas and possibly Cervezas.
I post in the mornings to MFP, so the next day for this thread.
Diary style.
Thursday Sept 01 - AF - May have drinks Friday night after my split shift, and or Saturday.
Friday Sept 02 - Drinks. Long workday, but busy and good. Very smoky here. Planned drinks Saturday as well (today). There are bands playing at the park that I can hear from my porch, I go back and forth. Got some black tulip bulbs today!! I will plant them when the bands are on breaks. Thinking of Singapore Slings today.
Rolling total: 1AF day out of 2 days.3 -

Ann Wilson from Heart is playing at your fair with Night Ranger!
I think that those sisters are from Seattle, but we have always claimed them as Canadian lol.
Blake Shelton, Nelly, and...the Beach Boys? I didn't realize that the Beach Boys were still around!
So fun!!
Wave that stick : - )
LOL claim away, there have been so many great artist that have come from the Seattle area. They have a theory that because Seattle/and surrounding cities (there is more to WA than Seattle lol) we are sorta isolated from the rest of the US by the Cascades. Kinda a lone outpost and folks have nothing better to do than play instruments including their voices.........or so the legends are told
Jimi Hendrix
Pearl Jam
Kurt Cobain
Heart (Ann & Nancy)
Foo Fighters
Judy Colins (there is a blast from the past)
Kenny G
To be fair, the Cascades are a pretty big barrier!

@Breathe57103 OMG what beautiful grandchildren. So freaking cute. I love the stuffies made of the shirts! What a great idea, and very meaningful.2

@lmlmrn YAY! You’ve won your killjoy supervisor over! You go girl! Long days ahead for you, but it really sounds like lots of fun.
@Stockholm_Andy so great to see you back here! Perfect timing I guess too, So you could share insights about dealing with such a traumatic loss. I’m so sorry you (and @Breathe57103 ) had to go through this.
@tmbg1 wow, very impressive! I’ve not done a great job with racking up AF days. You are motivating me!
Beautiful day to sail today, only had one drink on the boat instead of my usual two. Micro-sipping my wine tonight. Progress!
I had three drinks on Thursday night. We went to the Pitt-West Virginia game. It was a nail biter, for sure, but Pitt won! We ran into our son at the stadium (sadly he was putting in a claim for his missing phone), and went to lunch with him and his new girlfriend the next day. First time meeting her, and she is so sweet! Very nice girl, and I am Very happy for him. (Let’s be honest, I’m so happy he isn’t dating a psychobitch with daddy issues!).4 -

Happy anniversary!!!!! Goes by fast, doesn’t it! I remember the days of when my kids would get too much TV because someone was sick….. ugh, they are like destructive teething puppies, gotta get them running around in fresh air and sunshine or they drive a mom crazy! Hope you’re all feeling better.

Family wedding today for my late husband's nephew. It was bitter sweet. I did get lots of grandbaby love again today though and remained alcohol free.

Me taking a silly photo with the grandbabies.
A cousin is a friend for life.
Thank you everyone for your kind words about my situation.

Hey@Womona, thanks for your feedback, I did it...I signed up for the yoga classes and they start Monday. I appreciate the push. Sincere thanks!
It is strange, yet very normal, how people get stuck in an indecision rut (ME all the time), they know what they want and need and what is good for them, yet they don't do it. Thank you, @Womona sometimes all we need is a push.
Keep pushing.....don't let excuses and stalling get in the way of your progress and happiness.3 -
@Breathe57103 what a wonderful and super-sweet family you have! You are doing really great progress and are an inspiration to me. The pink Elton John glasses are awesome5

@Breathe57103 AF at a wedding????? Wow, that is very impressive, especially with all the emotions you must have had going on. Love the grand baby pix.4

@ahoy_m8 and @Womona thanks for shoutouts, it feels great to get such a warm welcome back from everyone
@dawnbgethealthy when you say smoky do you mean from forest fires? That's quite scary. How close do they get to town?3 -
I managed a second Saturday AF. We were supposed to have people over but my wife has a cold so we cancelled.
14 days AF and counting.
I am flying over to the UK tomorrow on business. That means a week of entertaining clients and publishers with boozy dinners. I expect there'll be a few surprised faces when I order a non-alcoholic drink10 -
@Breathe57103 - Wonderful picture of the grandbabies with you! So many smiles.3
-
@Breathe57103 Adorable! Gorgeous photos, gorgeous children. Ditto to everything @Lilylady3k said about your creativity. Way to spread the love.
@dawnbgethealthy If it is not too nosy to ask, please do share where & how you will be spending time in Mexico this month. Exciting!4
