    I, unlike the rest of the good people in here, absolutely exercise so I CAN eat "junk" food.

    Or maybe it's so I'll have calories for the "healthy" foods. :)

    I will even have a couple jelly bellies on my gym bag for that quick reward

    This skates very close to my most hated weight loss "motivational" phrase - that "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels".

    I went to Weight Watchers for about a year in the late 80s and the meeting leader would chant that phrase at the end of every weekly meeting and had us say it with her. I haven't liked hearing or seeing it ever since. Makes me twitch.

    "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" is a poorly constructed proposition, besides. There absolutely are things that taste as good for the two or five minutes it takes to eat them as skinny feels for that same two or five minutes. The problem is that it doesn't work that way.

    Memes existed before the internet. They were dumb then, too.

    I'm having a burger today. I do it myself, and it totally fits into my calorie allowance. Is it junk food or not? Doesn't matter. I'm sure it'll be tasty.

    This is your fault!

    Don't worry. I'm going to tell you. 😀

    I was at the market yesterday and the only thing they had I went there for was bread. And I couldn't just buy one thing and I thought about this thread so went to check out the hamburger meat.

    1. I bought the wrong kind for hamburgers.
    2. It was the most expensive type of ground meat (ground sirloin).
    3. It wasn't even on sale!
    4. It's calorically spendy in my mind.
    5. I can't/don't want to cook/bake.
    6. Google is your friend.
    7. I microwaved a bit, tried it, haven't keeled over yet.
    8. But now I'm freezing the rest in 2 oz portions and have no idea what to do with it without adding a lot of calories (like chili and stuff).

    I don't like it when you people put ideas in my head!! 😁

    And, to stay on topic, 22ish grams of protein per 4 oz serving does not a junk food make.

    I add pre-cooked hamburger to a lot of my microwave meals. Add a little to red pepper soup from a box, add it as my scoop of protein for scoop bowls, use it in enchiladas, add to tomato sauce and frozen pasta, and probably most consistently….I feed it to the dog when it’s already defrosted and I can’t think of anything to do with it 😂

    LOL. I actually came up with a non carby *sniffle* slider for future use. 2 oz is just big enough. And to tomato sauce to use over hearts of palm pasta.

    What else do you put in the scoop bowls?

    Let me tell you, it's a gourmet delight :D I start with:
    Some kind of pre-cooked starch (frozen rice, frozen pasta, or either of those in the pre-cooked bags);
    Some kind of frozen veg (I usually have a couple of different bags at a time);
    Some kind of protein (I have frozen grilled chicken, frozen shrimp and fish, or use some kind of protein from left overs. I also often add canned beans to boost protein);
    Some kind of sauce/seasoning (Asian stir fry sauce, BBQ, Nashville Hot or buffalo spices, za'atar, etc.)

    I put a "scoop" of each in a bowl and microwave until it's defrosted and heated to the temperature I like. It's a balanced meal that takes about 5 minutes to prep, another 5 or so to cook and only messes up a bowl and a fork...which is basically my kind of cooking!
