@deepwoodslady Did you actually READ all of that paperwork? The home health nurse came yesterday with a stack (not even kidding) of things for DH to sign. He stopped at the 2nd one because Medicare limits home health to those who donβt leave the house except for church or medical. The nurse said it was okay to go out to eat and do other things but her company says βno casinos or malls.β THAT is a violation of Medicare policy so they are, essentially, defrauding the government. DH refused to sign and the appointment was done. So frustrating!4

12/3 123.5 DH took neighbor to a local bakery yesterday and came home with a loaf of sourdough and 2 enormous pastries! URGGGGG
12/4 124.0 I have no WONβT POWER!! As in I WONβT eat that huge pastry. Had small Greek salad with steak. Ate 3 pieces of steak and saved 3 for today. Making a rotisserie chicken this afternoon.
12/5 124.5 Getting frustrated with trying to get the Fitbit app on my iPad. Iβm walking ore steps than usual-almost 3 times what I was doing. Probably not drinking enough water. DH has surgery tomorrow so I may be late checking in or forget entirely.π€·ββοΈ
12/6 127.0!!!! We arrived at the surgical center at 5:11AM UGH I had a Margarita yesterday and enjoyed all of the salt! Iβm tired, have to catch up tomorrow-reading from top of page 4.
12/7 126.5 yesterday I found myself waiting to hear my husband come in and say Iβm home and then I realized heβs not home. Heβs at the hospital until sometime today. Iβm waiting to hear from him so I can pick him up. There must be something going on at the surgical center, because they had him use the antiseptic wash and wipes the night before surgery and did wipes again yesterday at the hospital and they put him on an anabiotic after the surgery, which they didnβt do before. Trying to get my head together doing a 25 day tracking challenge on Senza. Iβve been way over on carbs and calories so the gain is expected but doesnβt make me happy.
12/8 125.5 Yesterday was a good day dietarily. I know I havenβt been drinking enough water since it cooled off here so made a conscious effort to get more. DH is home and in much better shape than last time. He can speak in intelligible sentences. Only taking naproxen for pain.
12/9 125.0 Awake since 3:30, canβt turn my brain off.
12/10 125.0 DH decided to break his own rule about not leaving the house until his follow up next week because he wanted In-N-Out. I ate some of his fries but had my burger in a lettuce wrap.(βprotein style, no spreadβ)
12/11 124.5 DD#2 and DSIL stopped by for a short visit yesterday afternoon. Slept until 4:50 after going to bed at 9:45 last night. According to Fitbit, no REM x 3 nights.5 -

Ok, I hit half my goals yesterday. Better than nuttinβ! Iβm off to a womenβs holiday art fair this morning. Itβs always a fun event with lots of beautiful things, and I always run into lots of friends there. Iβm hoping to find something for a hard-to-buy-for friend β wish me luck!

We ordered out for lunch and it was salty. I drank lots of water, but still feel puffy, so am pushing extra water today. Itβs very cold out β19F, feels like 9 β so Iβm pretty much hunkered down. I had a great time at the art fair yesterday and came home with a few things, including a lovely ceramic serving plate for my hard-to-buy-for friend. Whew! As always, I ran into lots of friends there.

Very happy with this, since I did indulge in a bit of comfort food last night. Itβs ok, today is planned, and I started with one of my fav breakfastsβ1 egg over easy on a dry slice of Daveβs Killer Bread Good Seed Thin. Yummy, healthy, and hold me for hours. Iβm picking up carry out Panera (half salad for me) for lunch at a friendβs house.

Itβs a gloomy, cold, gray day outside, but I have my music cranked up and lots of catch-up jobs to do β wind yarn (Iβve bought so much yarn this fall! Eeek!), start a new pet portrait (Iβm reviving my portrait business on a limited basis and have 3 commissions, so better get busy!), finish knitting a gift for a friend, and clean up and fill up this new-to-us cabinet I found at a local resale store. Our kitchen is small with very limited storage, and the other cabinet is full, so this will help. Plus I love the style. Better yet, it doesnβt need any work other than cleaning. Yay! So I hope Iβll be busy enough not to snack. π

Itβs soup day! This will be the 48th different soup this year, my Sunday soup project started the first Sunday of 2022. Itβs been fun! Now to figure out what Iβm making todayβ¦. And whether to try to catch up β I missed two weeks during the year. I put the leftovers in a silicone muffin pan and freeze, pop them into freezer bags, and then microwave 2-3 for quick lunches. Love it!

12/3: 133.2 - Got a good workout in yesterday. Calories were carb and fat dense as I was trying to use up some heavy whipping cream that I had bought for Thanksgiving. Made the NYTimes creamy cauliflower pasta recipe - delicious but definitely calorie- and fat-laden.
12/4: 132.9 - I had a good workout yesterday, but then mostly sedentary the rest of the day. Good eating within calories and with macros as well.
12/5: 133.4 - Mini-binge last night.
12/6: 133.8 - Headed in the wrong direction weight-wise, but doing my workouts and tracking my food

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.

Goal for this round, same as last, is to lose a pound.. No binges, keep within calories & macros.
Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, It's took me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance again!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back under 130. Healthy life style has to be a permanent way of life.

12/4 136 β 3.36 miles walked around an advent trail with DGC, the very slow steps holding 18 month old hand whilst she walked didn't actually count the steps, but at that pace I'm barely burning any calories anyway & the experience & delight was much more enriching !!!
12/5 135.4 β back to end of last round weight. 14.68 miles walked, it was cold: 4 degrees C, but brisk walking kept us just about ok !!

12/8 134 β lovely woosh !! 11.75 miles walked yesterday. WW trial ceased, it has given me a boost and refocused my mind, back to counting calories from today, would like to lose another pound or so before the big day.
12/9 134 β 10.13 miles walked. Pleased this number stuck, but a challenging weekend ahead: caravan club Christmas weekend, festivities start tonight!
12/10 133 - amazed and pleased at this number, first evening of festivities I stayed strong; had a late lunch/early evening meal and then 1 mince pie and a glass of mulled wine, and a pear. After I got into bed felt really hungry, nauseous in fact, but mind over matter and twisted getting up to eat. See what today brings!! Managed 5 mile walk before we hitched up and left home.
12/11. 137 - so there it is the Christmas festivities, 4 pounds !! And I though I was quite restrained, but when you're not in charge of food preparation and everything is richer than you normally do, parsnips glazed in honey & roast potatoes in goose fat when I usually dry roast both, butter & milk in mashed potatoes etc. & several adult beverages. It is what it is, today I'm back to my usual eating, but I did enjoy last night. Also no structured walking.
12/12 136.4 β starting to go down, today: push water, get back to walking ( might be slower than normal with our current snow and ice!), have a text book food day. Overall a pound increase from the end of last round, The next is the lead up to the main festivity days, lets get back down a pound or two in readiness.

Day/Weight/Comment
12/3 - 121.2! Surprised to see a loss today after overindulging last night, but it may still catch up with me. We have more holiday festivities today but Iβm going to be more cognizant of what Iβm putting in my body. Hoping to get some sort of workout in this morning. I have a cleaner coming later this morning to help me clean up part of the basement. Itβs generally the catβs side of the basement but Iβm going to also make it my home gym space. I have the Peloton treadmill arriving Wednesday so I will end up putting my bike and treadmill and eventually my weights there. Iβm excited to have my own little space but embarrassed by the amount of cat vomit Iβve let linger down there π³ Hopefully spending time there will make me more proactive about cleaning up. Itβs so easy to ignore when just passing through.
12/4 - 121.8
12/5 - 123.4 - Whoops, overdid it during the weekend per usual. Hopefully some of this is water. It's nice to be at a point where bad choices don't put me above 125, though! I like those weird little milestones.
12/6 - 122.2. Had a very well-behaved day yesterday and plan to stay the course today, so hopefully I can get back down to Saturday's weight soon. I lifted and walked yesterday. I'm hoping to find time for a Peloton ride today.
12/7 - 121.6. Yesterday was pretty good. I didn't get all the exercise I wanted to but I did a 30-minute Peloton ride. Today is primarily strength training, BUT my Peloton Treadmill is arriving at some point today so I may need to take it for a spin I got my little workout corner of the basement set up and the bike moved over, away from the wood stove and into the cold. Next I need to get a weight rack for our dumbbells!
12/8 - 121.0. My treadmill arrived yesterday with no power cord I tried other cords that seemed to fit with no luck. Such a bummer. They're sending me a new one in 5-10 business days and giving me a month of my membership for free, but I really just want my tread to work!
12/9 - 121.2. Had my husband's work holiday party last night. I fasted all day beforehand and did a 45-minute Peloton ride and I'm pretty sure I still overdid it, especially with drinks. On days I fast that long I don't really track my intake. Thankfully I fell asleep at 9:30 with my 3-year-old before I could do any more damage. Have to recover today. Planning to lift today at least. We're having my husband's 40th birthday party on Sunday so I'm going to try to bake a carrot cake during work breaks.
12/10 - 122.6
12/11 - 122.4 - headed the wrong direction the past couple days overall. Definitely not going to make my round goal weight but thatβs okay. I prepared/am preparing a bunch of snacks for DHβs birthday party this afternoon, but both of my kids have pretty gnarly coughs. We were planning to keep it outside but Iβm wondering if itβs a better idea to cancel it altogether. The youngest threw up in his crib last night too, I think from all the drainage but still. Not trying to spread anything around. Iβm also supposed to travel for work tomorrow and have something important to take care of. I am sick of everyone getting sick. DH just had a cold for a couple weeks so I suppose itβs our turn. Yesterday I was hoping it was just the cold, damp air stirring things up.
I did have a NSV yesterday! I found some size 4 shorts that Iβd bought the last time I lost weight. I pulled them on yesterday and they buttoned right up! Iβll have them to wear in Puerto Rico in a few weeks!
12/12 - 122.4. Had the party for my husband and didnβt gain so Iβm calling it a victory even though I gained this round π€¦π»ββοΈ The kids werenβt too sick and we kept the party entirely outdoors thanks to the Solo Stove I gave him for his bday. We gave people a heads up and let them decide for themselves. Only a couple families sat it out and we had a nice group. Now Iβm on my way to NJ for a business trip after waking up at 4am. Iβm resisting coffee temptation so I can stay masked in the airport π΄
