I’ve never joined an online group before, but I really need to be accountable to my newly developed out of control eating. I’ve always been able to not overeat sweets but it’s become very difficult. I hope to lose these unwanted unhealthy lbs. Ugg

Welcome!
Yeah, it can be scary to get started, and you've already taken that first step. There's a lot of good information here on developing strategies to meet your goals.
You can still eat sweets and lose weight, you just have to fit them in to the amount of calories that will keep you in at least a small deficit. If you deprive yourself of something you like, you may give up. Don't give up. Have you used the guided set-up tool to figure out what your daily calorie budget should be? That's a good next step. Then set some goals along the way. What specific goals are you setting? It could be, "Eat only 100 calories of sweets per day" or "Only eat sweets slowly and paying full attention to how delicious they are." Fill the rest of your diet with nutritious food. Eat less than you burn, and you can lose weight.
What are your next steps?0
