Oo I remember joining in with these back in 2021 and really enjoyed doing it, thanks Jill!
These 1 month challenges helped me lose around 20lb over the course of 4 months, and helped me keep everything in perspective. Unfortunately i gained a lot back during 2022 when I fell off the wagon, but hey ho. I got back in the game mid January and have lost 7lbs since then, yay! Things are showing down now though and I've got another 20lbs to go to get me back to my February 2022 weight, which was when I stopped logging and weighing. I'm aiming for 130lbs ultimately (or maybe lower if I feel like I need to) but for now my goal is to get my body size back down to a place where I can feel more confident and uninhibited to enjoy the spring and summer ahead, rather than hiding away and feeling blue, and to get my fitness levels back up so I can feel strong and energised.
I like adding an emoji every day to reflect my reaction to my weigh in. Looking back on the data from these challenges and cross-referencing with my mfp food and exercise diary has been really useful for showing me what worked well in the past.

Gotta get back on it. I’m exhausted today. Not enough sleep last night.
02/08-195.8-(Trend Weight 196.5)- Not nearly enough exercise or movement yesterday due to the long hair appointment. I look like a French poodle now from the perm. Full breed. Ha Ha. It was gloomy outside and I felt no energy all day. Stuck to my guns and my pre-logging on the food front and it is nice to see a drop today on the scale. Tonight I am having my DD and SIL over for dinner but I have pre-planned a low calorie, low fat, low carb meal. Chicken shish-kebobs. Yum!

02/09-194.4-(Trend Weight 196.3)- Yes Yes Yes! Below my starting weight! I did great yesterday until about 3:00 in the morning when I hit the candy dish (leftover Christmas chocolates etc still in there which I have had no problem resisting for 2 months now!) It was emotional eating 100% due to something that happened. When I say I gorged myself with it, I mean that I put a handful of it in all at once until I actually coughed and choked on it. But I still managed to swallow it! Of course, glucose is up this morning but scale was good because my exercise level was good and my overall day was on plan, otherwise. However, we all know it may still show up on the scale. I’m just sharing, my friends because you know who you are and you are not alone. Back on track today. DD and grandson will arrive this afternoon and hopefully she will not spend the weekend trying to feed me! Last weekend she brought very very high calorie and high carb soup she made. I promptly put it in the freezer in multiple measured servings. I will be refeeding it to her during times she is hungry and don’t know what she wants! Revenge!

I did great yesterday until about 3:00 in the morning when I hit the candy dish (leftover Christmas chocolates etc still in there which I have had no problem resisting for 2 months now!) It was emotional eating 100% due to something that happened. When I say I gorged myself with it, I mean that I put a handful of it in all at once until I actually coughed and choked on it. But I still managed to swallow it! Of course, glucose is up this morning but scale was good because my exercise level was good and my overall day was on plan, otherwise. However, we all know it may still show up on the scale. I’m just sharing, my friends because you know who you are and you are not alone. Back on track today. DD and grandson will arrive this afternoon and hopefully she will not spend the weekend trying to feed me! Last weekend she brought very very high calorie and high carb soup she made. I promptly put it in the freezer in multiple measured servings. I will be refeeding it to her during times she is hungry and don’t know what she wants! Revenge!
02/10-193.6-(Trend Weight 196.0)- It has been since approximately the end of 2021 since I touched on 193. I am very happy to see this number. I know that counting my carbs and keeping my calories within limits is making all the difference. It takes both for me. I am still tweaking the menus, figuring out what my triggers are etc., finding my worst temptations and what I simply can’t resist so I can keep it away from me. It’s a learning process, this carb AND calorie counting, but I’m getting a little better at it every day. My first dietician appointment (for diabetes) is next Thursday. They will likely help me navigate the 3 diets I need all at once, weight loss, heart healthy (low fat) and low carb for the diabetes. In the meantime, I’m sticking to mainly healthy fats when I dip into the calories. Let’s get ready for Spring, my friends! It’s hard to imagine it after the snow storm last night and the loss of power this morning for a couple of hours, but the wildlife is telling me it’s on the way!
