I almost forgot to share..... Iā€™m going to a Books Over Drinks event tonight and get to meet Sarah Penner. She is signing a talking about The London SĆ©ance Society. Since I havenā€™t actually read her before I grabbed her The Lost Apothecary from the Libby app as an audiobook. Iā€™m going to try and listen to the whole thing today. The bookstore often has fun book events with cocktails or dinners or lunches. They even do cooking classes called Cook The Book with themes from books and baking classes in the attached cafĆ©. I normally donā€™t buy tickets because Iā€™m always on the broke side of things. However, my friend bought tickets and now canā€™t go, so she passed them on to me this week. Iā€™m so excited.

@Buckeyebabe7l7 I already warned my friends about the tissues. It's one of my favorites. I watch it at least once a year. The end gets me every single time.

Also, I forgot to post the photo from last night. My friend on the left, myself in the middle, Sarah Penner on the right.

Love the photo! I might have to order her books....I'm looking for something new to read. <3

It looks like you had fun.

Hi, everyone! I am a 45 year-old female. I am 5'4" married with four kids and a new full-time job since January. Physically, I am a two-time cancer survivor, I have Hypothyroidism, and Plantar Fasciitis. I struggle with planning meals, overindulging in carbs, not finding time to exercise, and being consistent, but I have a good heart and am always grateful for every moment I have, even the frustrated ones. Lol!

    My goals for March:
    ā˜˜ļøC25K program 3x week - Walk 3xweek
    ā˜˜ļøStrength Training 3x week
    ā˜˜ļøZUMBA Saturdays
ā˜˜ļøPre-plan meals and log food everyday
    ā˜˜ļøTake thyroid med everyday
    ā˜˜ļøIncrease Water Intake

    January starting weight: 189.4 lbs
    February starting weight: 187.3
    March starting weight: 192.1

    01: 192.1
02: 193.6 - Stress eating due to feeling out of control and overwhelmed after husband's cervical surgery.
    03: 192.1
04: 190.7 - Looking forward to Zumba class today to shake out the stress.
    05: 191.6
06: 192.5 - Most likely water retention from sodium and my training. Not gonna stress.
    07: 192.5
    08: 193.1
    09:193.3
10: 194.4 - I understand why this number is here. I have to keep pushing through this tough time.
    11: 195.3
    12:194.0
    13: DNW
    14: DNW
    15: DNW
16: 190.7 - Another tough week. Mom in hospital, friend's son died, husband's recovery. oy.
    17: DNW
    18: DNW
19: 193.1 -Lots of traveling. Haven't taken my thyroid medicine regularly.
    20: 192.5
    21: 191.8
    22: 191.6
23: 191.8 - I am happy to see that my consistent lunch equals consistent scale.
24: 192.0 - late dinner, but still in this new consistent range.
25: 193.6 - This jump must have been from either sodium or carbs from the pasta last night.

03/24-188.0-(Trend Weight 189.8)- My good choices finally caught up with the scale today from the days earlier in the week. But yesterday was a bit of a binge. I lost all control. It was fueled by emotions as I was called into the ā€œprincipalā€™s officeā€ at the cardiac rehab and told that I should have went to the hospital with the bp drops, or at the very least, contacted one of my doctors. My readings that had improved by Sunday night were still good enough on Monday morning to go. However, yesterday evening at home, they dropped yet again and stayed that way all night. I began my emotional eating binge and didnā€™t stop until midnight. I discontinued the night time bp med again (Lisinopril) but continue to take the Metroprolol (prolly spelled wrong) in the mornings because it is not just a bp med but it also helps the heart to actually pump. My blood pressure is now okay again today. I am babysitting my DGS again today so hopefully I will continue to feel well. In any case, overeating foods, especially those that are bad for my diabetes, are not going to help. Emotional eating never solves the problem. This realization is helping me, at least for today. I hope it helps someone else too.

03/25-187.2-(Trend Weight 189.5)- Snow storm today. 8 ā€“ 10ā€ expected and it looks like the numbers are right on target. On the weight front: Iā€™m so glad to see a drop and also a downward trend weight after the binge on the night of the 23rd. Back on track! In regards to health, I ended up calling my cardiologist (on the advice of the aforementioned ā€œprincipalā€) because of the drop again in my bp. They agreed for me to stay off the one bp med (Lisinopril) through the weekend. Doctor was not in for the day. They wanted me to record bpā€™s several times a day on Fri, Sat and Sun then stop in at the Heart Failure Clinic (love the name!) and let Cardiologist see them on Monday when I am back in the town where they are located (same town as my Rehab I go to on Mondays). They will then further advise. Possibly a different medication or stay off the one I stopped? I dunno. Of course, I am hoping that my weight loss (21 lbs down since my high weight last June) is affecting my medication doses for the positive. Is it possible that Iā€™m not actually getting sicker but instead, getting HEALTHIER? Itā€™s possibleā€¦ā€¦. Wait until you hear about my glucose numbers these past few weeks. More on that tomorrowā€¦ā€¦

03/26-187.8-(Trend Weight 189.3)- Go figure! It was another very good day food-wise. Got in a bit of exercise but otherwise not a lot of activity as I still continue to baby my blood pressure so maybe that explains the uptick? Anywayā€¦. I travel today to my DGSā€™s 4th birthday in another town. I usually donā€™t log when the food (and dessert) is out of my control or too complicated (even though logging is NEVER a bad idea). I do plan to enjoy the day. Iā€™ve actually saved a few calories and carbs back over these past few days to help offset the damage at least a little. In regards to my glucose numbers (since last seeing the idiot dietician). My morning fasting numbers (usually the lowest of the day before food) was running 300-525. Those are EMERGENCY ROOM numbers for many but my body got very used to it and I actually didnā€™t even feel that bad. Since ignoring my dietician by counting my calories AND my carbs, incorporating some Intermittent fasting (against her advice) and doing what I know works FOR ME, my morning glucose readings are now 130-165. I think I could get them even lower if I tried because I have been eating sugar-free jello almost every night with sugar-free cool whip but they contain artificial sugars (which are not Natural sugar-free sugars) so they spike my glucose. I recently found on the Walmart website that they sell a keto friendly whipped topping that is made with monk fruit so I will start buying that when Iā€™m out of town. I also found on Amazon that the vitamin company Swanson sells a sugar-free jello made with Erythitol (spelled wrong) and Stevia, both of which do not spike the glucose. It is double the price of Jello brand (itā€™s about @2.50 per small 4 serv box I think), but it will help my glucose numbers so Iā€™m ordering a bunch. What I canā€™t yet give up is my nightly piece of Russell Stovers sugar-free dark chocolate candy which uses an artificial sweetener. Iā€™m just not there yet. But progress is progress, right? I did learn to really enjoy the 90% dark cacao chocolate when I was on Keto. It was the Samā€™s club brand but I havenā€™t been able to find it at Walmart lately so itā€™s just been me and Russell.

i, everyone! I am a 45 year-old female. I am 5'4" married with four kids and a new full-time job since January. Physically, I am a two-time cancer survivor, I have Hypothyroidism, and Plantar Fasciitis. I struggle with planning meals, overindulging in carbs, not finding time to exercise, and being consistent, but I have a good heart and am always grateful for every moment I have, even the frustrated ones. Lol!

    My goals for March:
    ā˜˜ļøC25K program 3x week - Walk 3xweek
    ā˜˜ļøStrength Training 3x week
    ā˜˜ļøZUMBA Saturdays
ā˜˜ļøPre-plan meals and log food everyday
    ā˜˜ļøTake thyroid med everyday
    ā˜˜ļøIncrease Water Intake

    February starting weight: 187.3

    20: 192.5

23: 191.8 - I am happy to see that my consistent lunch equals consistent scale.
24: 192.0 - late dinner, but still in this new consistent range.
25: 193.6 - This jump must have been from either sodium or carbs from the pasta last night.

03/27-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- Nope. Iā€™m not even gonna look! The birthday party was very nice and so was the food. I have 4 out of 5 days of travel this week which is never good for me. Also, my bp dropped badly again so I am back to laying around (no exercise allowed) babying it until the cardiologist figures out what to do. The one thing Iā€™ve learned is that if I donā€™t move, I donā€™t lose. In fact, if I donā€™t move, I gain. Even when my calories and carbs are kept low. So I am going to wait until the end of this challenge to weigh in again. I will check in daily with all of your posts. I will do my best to make good choices during my travel days. I canā€™t bear to be discouraged right now. Iā€™m going through enough as it is!

@pamperedlinny I love that you are letting the weekend go and just getting right back on track. That's a healthy attitude to take. Recognize where you got off and just say I can fix this and move on. Have fun tonight!

@deepwoodslady I wouldn't worry about your weight right now and so I think you're smart to skip weighing in daily. Just eat what you know is right for you. Your bp is more important for now. Hopefully the doc will get this figured out soon.

Hi, everyone! I am a 45 year-old female. I am 5'4" married with four kids and a new full-time job since January. Physically, I am a two-time cancer survivor, I have Hypothyroidism, and Plantar Fasciitis. I struggle with planning meals, overindulging in carbs, not finding time to exercise, and being consistent, but I have a good heart and am always grateful for every moment I have, even the frustrated ones. Lol!

    My goals for March:
    ā˜˜ļøC25K program 3x week - Walk 3xweek
    ā˜˜ļøStrength Training 3x week
    ā˜˜ļøZUMBA Saturdays
ā˜˜ļøPre-plan meals and log food everyday
    ā˜˜ļøTake thyroid med everyday
    ā˜˜ļøIncrease Water Intake

    January starting weight: 189.4 lbs
    February starting weight: 187.3
    March starting weight: 192.1

    01: 192.1
02: 193.6 - Stress eating due to feeling out of control and overwhelmed after husband's cervical surgery.
    03: 192.1
04: 190.7 - Looking forward to Zumba class today to shake out the stress.
    05: 191.6
06: 192.5 - Most likely water retention from sodium and my training. Not gonna stress.
    07: 192.5
    08: 193.1
    09:193.3
10: 194.4 - I understand why this number is here. I have to keep pushing through this tough time.
    11: 195.3
    12:194.0
    13: DNW
    14: DNW
    15: DNW
16: 190.7 - Another tough week. Mom in hospital, friend's son died, husband's recovery. oy.
    17: DNW
    18: DNW
19: 193.1 -Lots of traveling. Haven't taken my thyroid medicine regularly.
    20: 192.5
    21: 191.8
    22: 191.6
23: 191.8 - I am happy to see that my consistent lunch equals consistent scale.
24: 192.0 - late dinner, but still in this new consistent range.
25: 193.6 - This jump must have been from either sodium or carbs from the pasta last night.
    26: 193.3
    27: 193.6

    Good morning all!

Last night I hosted The Bone Collector movie night for my smaller book club. We read the book as part of a "Read A Book That Inspired A Movie" challenge. We decided that if the book was made into a movie, we needed to watch the movie.... and I'm a sucker for anything with a theme. Isn't this table great?!? Sorry, but it was just too fun not to share.

I also got my most recent blog recipe up this morning. I had already scheduled it to post so this morning it already went live before I was even online. I had made a big pan on Spanish Rice for my husband's office party and decided to bump up when I dropped it on the blog because his co-workers asked about the recipe. I decided to share it with everyone instead of just his office. :D If anyone needs a Spanish Rice recipe this one is mine. https://www.healthyeatingwithlinda.com/post/spanish-rice-for-a-crowd

Tonight is going to be Zumba class while my daughter is at volleyball, quick locker room showers, and then we'll both be at the tea shop for trivia night. I'm so bad at trivia and so thankful for people on my team that know all the things. It is still so much fun and every once in a while I'll actually know an answer that others don't. It's usually about one question out of the entire night though. I'm useless as a teammate.

@deepwoodslady I donā€™t weigh after an indulgence either. Thereā€™s no need to put the negativity into your head when you know in a day or two it will go back down.
