Rori - Counting down the days!
Tracey - That kind of narcissistic, gaslighting personality is very hard to deal with. There are a lot of pointers online. One thing you can't do is treat them like a normal person, because they aren't normal, they are wired differently. They will never change. Lots of books out there too. It may help, temporarily at least, to see it as a personality disorder, rather than something you are 'doing wrong'. They are very clever, manipulative, and nice to those they haven't targeted. (See Kim's mum) I would think some reading up on 'how to deal with a narcissist' would ease your mind a bit, although you are definitely going through all the right procedures. Document everything.
I decided yesterday to get a Waitrose delivery this evening for the bank holiday. It's a cheaper delivery fee after 7 pm! There are my standard chicken/meat cuts that I use all the time that I'd run out of. (Chicken thighs and neck fillet of lamb) Plus salmon fillets.Tonight's dinner, before they arrive, will be sea bass.
The sun is shining and the apple blossom is covering next door's apple tree. The lilac is about to blossom. I might have to do another 'view from my bedroom window '.

Just spent 2.5 hours in the garden!
Digging and hacking with mattock, hoe and shovel.
Weeding.
Watering with water can - carrying it back and forth up into the higher parts of the yard.
And planting 2 new hydrangeas.
I have a feeling I'll be stiff tomorrow.
But it was a beautiful autumn day and I'm so glad I could spend time outside.

ACTIVE APRIL1. Commit to being more active this month starting today. Yes!
2. Spend as much time as possible outdoors today. Yes!
3. Listen to your body and be grateful for what it can do. Yes! I can garden, which requires all sorts of body motion, and cycle.
4. Eat healthy and natural food today and drinks lots of water. Yes! Ate my usual food and drank lots of water up till about 8 pm. We won't talk about what happened after that.
5. Turn a regular activity into a playful game today. Hmmm ... Walking around the shops? Climbing stairs?
6. Do a body-scan meditation and really notice how your body feels. Achy.
7. Get natural light early in the day. Dim the lights in the evening.
There isn't much light early in the day here. Plus I was sleeping then. Plus it was cloudy, drizzly and rainy all day.
But I do dim the lights in the evening. It's one of many steps I take to wind down in the evenings to prepare myself for the night.
8. give your body a boost by laughing or making someone laugh
I rarely laugh. Most things don't strike me funny.
Lots of things amuse me, but not enough for laughter.
9. Turn your housework or chores into a fun form of exercise
I often do, but as today's work involved sitting at 2 computers, I walked on the treadmill during a break instead.
10. Have a day with less screen time and more movement
Unfortunately, today was another day sitting at 2 computers.
But I did go downstairs to row and lift weights.
Hoping the rain will let up soon!!! It's been 4 days already!
11. Set yourself an exercise goal or sign up to an activity challenge
One of my more favourite areas!!
We aim to cycle at least one 50 km ride each month and have been doing that for a while. At our AGM at the end of March, we got a bag full of these each.
We will have to see when we can fit our April ride in ... the 5 days off over Easter would have been good but it rained and rained and was cold and windy. Snow at higher elevations.
Maybe next weekend ... we'll see.
AND ... one of the bigger running events moved their event to September which is fantastic for me. Originally, it was this month, but I was nowhere near ready to even sign up for the 5K. Now I've got the winter to get in shape.
Also, now that I'm working back in the same building I was in about 16 months ago, with many of the same people, we've started our stair climbing challenge again. We are easing into it this month because of Easter and ANZAC Day but we'll be ready to be much more consistent in May.
The stair climbing challenge is exciting because when I'm busy climbing 20+ flights of 20 stairs each day I am at work, I lose weight.
12. Move as much as possible, even if you’re stuck inside
Absolutely! I climbed stairs.
13. Make sleep a priority and go to bed in good time
I do when I have to work the next day ... make sure I get at least 7 hours of sleep.
But I am not keen on that. I'm a night owl and like to get things done late at night. Having to be in bed by 11:45 pm is a bit uncomfortably early.
14. Relax your body & mind with yoga, tai chi or meditation.
Gardening ... will gardening do?
15. Get active by singing today (even if you think you can’t sing)
I sing every day. My husband is very polite about it.
16. Go exploring around your local area and notice new things
I've spent 5 years on our island.
I've done a lot of local exploring!
I think exploring locally is a great idea and some people don't do enough of it. However, I'm getting more and more restless to go somewhere else as the weeks go by.
17. Be active outside. Dig up weeds or plant some seeds
I usually do this on the weekend when there's daylight.
However, I occasionally do some weeding in the pitch dark when I walk Rhody right after work.
18. Try a new online exercise, activity or dance class.
Hmmmmmmm ... not that keen on online exercise, aside from Zwift.
However, I have started a stair climbing challenge at work, and we keep track of it on an Excel spreadsheet.
19. Spend less time sitting today. Get up and move more often.
Walking in the morning and evening as part of my commute.
Walking at lunch.
Climbing stairs.
Walking back and forth to the kitchen and toilet.
Walking with Rhody after work.
20. Focus on eating ‘a rainbow of multi-colored vegetables today.
As always.
21. Regularly pause to stretch and breathe during the day.
Does huffing and puffing up and down 20 flights of stairs count?
22. Enjoy moving to your favorite music. Really go for it.
I always enjoy my music, but I don't necessarily move to it.
23. Go out and do an errand for a loved one or neighbor.
Not on the 23rd (Sunday) but today.
24. Get active in nature. Feed the birds or go wild-life spotting.
Walking ... and watching the pigeons.
25. Have a ‘no screens’ night and take time to recharge yourself.
Tuesday was ANZAC Day ... so I didn't spend as much time in front of my computer. I was out in the garden for quite a while, then we went cycling.
26. Take an extra break in your day and walk outside for 15 minutes
Wednesday, I was back at work. But I did a longish (over an hour) walk to the Botanical Gardens and back to work.
27. Find a fun exercise to do while waiting for the kettle to boil (or pan of water.)
Thursday ... today. More climbing stairs.
28. Meet a friend outside for a walk and a chat.
Does cycling with my husband count?
29. Become an activist for a cause you really believe in
A very quiet activist.30. Make time to run, swim, dance, cycle or stretch today

Tracey-wow, she is a gem.I prefer not putting everything in writing because it becomes public record. When problems become repeated I do. If it is in writing I can go back and check and not make a false accusation (I can't always remember everything!) or I will resend the email to the person so they can remember. In the US your log could be helpful if you have to file unemployment (don't know laws in Canada). If nothing else, writing the stuff can be a way to get some of it out of your head and help with coping. My bet advice is keep looking. Here we have what are called job centers and you can go there and get advice on interviewing, etc.
Rori-excellent job on rowing. I think that sounds like such a cool exercise. However, since I have two repaired herniated discs in my neck I am a bit hesitant to try that.
Received call from Endocrinologist office late yesterday-they confirmed my read of blood work but nice to get official confirmation. It looks like Covid most like the culprit in the sudden change in suppression level.
Temperatures supposed to be decent today. A chance of rain but should be able to get a dry walk in. going to get 30 minutes I as soon as it is light. I am trying out the whole thing about getting early morning sunlight being helpful in sleep cycles. After that-the usual. Got shopping done yesterday so no need to go to stores.
Have a good day all,

Kim,
Thank you for asking about my spouse’s progress.
Yesterday afternoon, she was walking from the lounge to the restaurant here when she realized she had left her motorized scooter parked in the lounge. She was halfway down the hallway, chatting and laughing, before she remembered.
There was a time when, with knit brow, she would have asked for my arm or shoulder to steady herself while she made her way from a table in the lounge to her scooter.
It’s come about gradually, but she is still making major progress.
Next week she will be evaluated to find out if she is a candidate for focused MRI-guided transcranial ultrasound tremor ablation!

I love rowing! Partly because it's sitting down but also because I can watch something on my tablet, or listen to a podcast. Two of my favourite Netflix series are coming out again in May, and that makes the rowing go really quickly. Sometimes I end up doing some cycling as well! At the moment I'm watching surgical operations. My favourite thing, but I often watch Ambulance, or 24 hours in A&E.
I went running this morning. That's four times in 9 days! I managed to get to the turn around about 5 minutes before the Parkrun. On the way home I bought Scotch Eggs for Monday lunch, and pigs cheeks for dinner on Monday, a Bank Holiday.
Tomorrow's dinner will be salmon with leek and fennel in crême fraiche.
Today's lunch is 'ancient grain' rolls, with smoked mackerel and horseradish, cucumber and lettuce.

Good morning ladies!
My pinched nerve issue must be improving, I slept through the night. Yay!
And it (mostly) stopped raining! Yay! But it must be soggy out there.
I'm going to dye my hair today. I haven't done it in awhile. My roots are almost two inches long, but they blend in. My natural color is a dull washed out sort of charcoal, and I put red henna on it to give it some life. It's such a mess to do, but it gives great results.
Have a great day!

Tracey,
Oh my gosh, that sneaky gaslighting then stab-you-in-the-back stuff is exactly what my subordinate did and got away with! She was in a supervisory position; as Director, I supposedly had the power to fire her. However, she was protected by one of the management VPs, so when I outlined the problems and discussed firing her with the management team, I was quashed. I told the management team if they were going to protect this supervisor, then I would need to leave my position, and they immediately gave me several good options within the company, which I took advantage of. I did tell them it was extremely unfair of them to force me to choose between staying in an untenable situation vs leaving the situation (which meant abandoning my people and delivering them to her nasty clutches). The bi@tc# bullied the new Director who took my place, too. A lot of people from that center had resigned when the bully was finally promoted to the level of her incompetence. She was largely impotent in that position. She should have been fired, but at least she was promoted to a position where it was difficult to harm others.
I wish you the best. I know how difficult it is to deal with someone like this.

Good morning ladies!
Tracey - you've been on my mind a lot lately. I once had a boss that was similar and ended up quitting a job I really liked. I spent a lot of time documenting, it was more therapy for me than anything. As Ginny said, these notes can be discoverable and I didn't care. Anyhow, I knew I was going to quit the job and for several months before I did it, DH and I squirreled away as much $$ as we could to bump up the bank account cushion. Keep sending out those job applications. I feel certain there's a business that's looking for someone like you as much as you are looking for them.
There are some good female bosses, but overall I generally prefer to work for males. The male boss referenced above that was a jerk was a retired Army "bird" colonel. He knew diddly about running a 911 center and was depending on his lacky who was a gossiping snipe for education about it. I had no time for this BS and would confront him and let him know this lackey wasn't doing him any favors. After I left, he got fired and his lackey moved on to private industry and I'm sure reached his level of incompetence there, lol.
But hey, in a sense I was ready to move on anyhow and fell into some neat adventures. So it all worked out.
Karen - I love reading about your life. So many interesting activities and people. Glad to hear your spouse is improving.
Tina and others - what are the foot problems you are dealing with? Mainly mechanical? Mine also really bug me at times. Arthritis in toes on one foot, metatarsalgia on the other, both feet pain in the toes, must be some neuropathy. Hot feet at night, hard to sleep. I know there's some athlete's foot going on at times. I change to different shoes throughout the day which seems to help. I really want to go barefoot in clean white beach sand for a month.
Barbara - have you solved your "going" problem? I rarely have trouble - I eat a lot of healthy fats and have added 1/2 c of pomegranite juice each day. Yes it's high in calories but creates mucous in the gut which the good microbes absolutely love. And I think helps make things slippery/slidey down there. Also I eat an apple every day. In the past when things slowed down I'd drink a cup of Traditional Medicinals "Smooth Move" tea.
As Barbie mentioned, we've had great weather to get outside jobs done. And I've been going at it.
Machka - thank you for the reminder about getting exercise from everyday activities. I think I got more exercise yesterday carrying a moving heavy things than I could ever get in a gym. It did get too blasted hot in the afternoon and I turned on the A/C and took a lot of breaks. Even the chickens were panting.
The chickens remain in their coop until I come out and talk to them, then they rush out and start scratching around and doing their chickie stuff. Last night at around 6:30, the sun went behind the trees and they were in the shade, so I brought out a lawn chair and Rosie sat in my lap and we just watched them for a while. It was great, took me back to the farm. They weren't exactly lambs frolicking but still fulfilled a part of my life that I'd been missing.
Virgin River - I just finished the first book and have a few more in the series downloaded on Kindle. Loved it! I must say, the "bodice ripper" novels have really advanced, . OOh lala! Cold shower time. I've decided I need a 60 year old boyfriend like Jack who likes to build stuff and would worship me. Not sure where I'll find him tho, since I only go to the Walmart and hang around the feed store. Ya never know....
The sun will soon be coming up and I'll open the chicken coop door. On today's agenda: more weed eating, moving the big mower out of the shop and pulling trash out, planning for my container garden, potting up some tiny lettuce and kale plants... I absolutely love being busy.
So, make it a fabulous weekend!

We bought our house with a low maintenance yard because we wanted to be able to mess about in the yard but notbe overwhelmed by it. It has served us well. There has always been just enough to do to keep me busy for an hour or two a day in the warmer weather without getting out of control. Working in the yard is a hobby not a chore and I love it. Thanks to Jake's new cardiologist, cardiac rehab, and some new (expensive) meds, he has a lot more energy and has been coming outside with me and doing projects on his own, We agreed to work on separate projects because I am so fussy about how I want things done, that no one could help me to my satisfaction, He needs to rest more than I do, so he brings out a chair and will sit near me and talk for a few minutes while he rests and I work. Naturally that bring comments from neighbors who are walking by who ask if he is the supervisor.
I decided to change to a new pattern for a blanket to knit for Project Linus. I am taking my time getting acquainted with it so when I start it will go smoothly. Just like the yard work, I like that what I'm doing is a process not a chore that needs to be completed with a deadline.
I knit while riding my recumbent exercise bike and watching TV or while attending a meeting on Zoom.

From Art in Bloom...The art piece was made from all recycled materials. The florist used all recycled materials in her piece. She is her friend went on a scavenger hunt to find the right pieces for their arrangement. Someone from next door neighbor supplied the grapevine wreathe. She loved how it twined together like the people hugging in the art work. Her brother created the wood mosaic in the background from scrap pieces.

This is the florist of the piece I already posted. She said she participates in honor of her mother. Her mother loved coming to this event. As I said in another post she explained where she and her friend found the pieces she used and why. Again the wooden background was made by her brother the wooden platform was to represent cobblestones. I said it fits in with the wood floor of the art institute. Love when we get to hear from the florist and hear their creative process❣️

This is the garden bed I'm working on now.
I dug out the purple-flower weed plant, whatever it was (most likely Prunella vulgaris/Self Heal: https://www.herbcottage.com.au/products/self-heal). Some of it, I moved into other locations around the yard because the bees really liked it and I need something good at spreading for those areas. Whatever this stuff was had really good roots. I'm sure it's a root spreader but the flowers make me think it might also spread by seed as well and the article I linked to above indicates it is. It does appear to need lots of water, which explains why it did so well where it was. It's really muddy there. So I am going to have to be sure to water it more in the various places it is now.
Then my husband and I moved one hydrangea over because they were getting crowded off to the left.
And I planted 2 new hydrangeas.
The hydrangeas seem to do well down in that corner and not many weeds grow up around them.
The low green patch is, I think, a daisy of some sort ... I have to check my plant identification.
I need to plant 4 native bushes and think that I want to move the carnations to do that. So now I need to look up carnations and see what is involved in moving them.
I'd like bushes all along that fence because I think that would be easier to take care of.

Margaret ~ The combination of art and floral arrangements is very interesting. I really like the first one as the floral arrangement looks like it was especially made for the art it represented.
Tracey ~ I have read all the comments/advice that have been posted regarding your boss. It does seem to me that she is incapable of owning up to her own mistakes and maybe it is time for HER to leave. Her power over you and those who have already left under her is despicable.
Lanette ~ When you let the chickens out of the pen to free range, how do you get them back in? My dad got us chickens once and it was my job to give them food in the chicken house. They would all run at me and throw the food in was what I did. They didn't last long as I guess it was decided I wasn't being a good care taker.
Heather ~ I am constantly having to look up the meals you are serving. It's wonderful that you have so many sea foods available to you. I follow the page on Show Me Your Pictures un Recipes here, and, I am constantly having to look up the foods they picture.
Going to grand son's baseball game today. So glad to have somewhere to go as I stay in the house way too much! I have done better with my inside walking this week and I am proud of that.
