    Day, Weight, Comment
    5/02 - 200.6
5/03 - 200.8 Not very happy with the last two days. A lot of depression going on. Found out Sunday that my youngest DD had a miscarriage. Very hard to have another loss after DH died Mar.9.
5/04 - 201.6 I’m rather surprised at this. Oh well, I will keep trying. Traveling today and tomorrow, going back to our previous home (we moved two years ago). DH and I played in a community band. The band has a concert tonight and is playing a piece in honor and memory of him. Taking both daughters with me and meeting lots of friends there. It will be an emotional trip.
    5/05 -
    5/06 - 202
    5/07 - 201.8
    5/08 - 200.8 coming back down
    5/09 - 201.4
5/10 - 201.8 I’ve been making poor choices lately and continue to not sleep well.

I’m tapping into the hive mind, please…. My insurance offers a discount on activity trackers, so I’m thinking of getting either a Fitbit or a Garmin, a more basic model. I’ve never had one. Thoughts from those of you who do on what features you’ve found useful, and your satisfaction with your device? Thanks!

I've been with Fitbit for years and I absolutely LOVE it. HOWEVER Fitbit is being taken over by Google and a lot of changes have been happening. A few features that are beloved have been taken (music and group challenges - neither of which I used so I don't notice it but a lot of people are complaining) and there are other changes I'm unsure of coming in the future. Including having to have a Google account to access your Fitbit in the near future. I have one, as I'm an android girl, but it is annoying, even for me. Plus who knows how well the movement from Fitbit platform to Google platform will go and if all the data will successfully transfer. Ugh.

I use the Versa 4, one of the newest models. I use it for steps, sleep, exercise, breathing, stopwatch, morning alarm, and general timepiece. It's been awhile since I've looked at the base model but I know I started with that and I've stuck with them since.

I will say, I've been looking into the Garmin in case I need to replace my Fitbit anytime in the near future. I plan on sticking with my current Fitbit until it gives up and dies on me but if that's prior to the Google takeover has settled out, I may step away from Fitbit until I see how this whole ordeal will go. I'm leary of the changes despite my loyalty to the company (they've been great with customer service, replacing watches that unexpectedly break due to no fault of my own, fixing issues, etc)

@SheilaBoneham , like @CamandJarvis , I’m also a Fitbit user (I use the Sense smartwatch model). I love my Fitbit, especially the sleep and health features, insights, and reports.

I was a daily user of the community feature they axed in March (open groups, challenges, and adventures). I miss them a lot. Lots of folks started using Stridekick to compliment their Fitbit, to replace challenges. I didn’t want to do that. If I was going to use two apps 😝, I decided MyFitnessPal would be the second 😎. Fitbit does have a food log, but MFP food/nutrition tools are far superior. And, it turns out, the message boards/community groups are too!

I do miss the challenges/ bingos that Fitbit axed (sigh), but I, finding my app time is better spent food logging than playing fitness bingo 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🙃😍.

I’m intrigued by the Garmin, even tho I love (and do recommend) Fitbit. The cost of Garmin up front is higher, but if I understand correctly, none of the features/data is locked behind a paywall. On the Fitbit, some of the sleep data and wellness features are locked behind a paywall.

Google actually took over Fitbit a couple years ago. But, for the most part, no changes were made until first, they took away music app support like Spotify, etc last year, and then THIS year, taking a wrecking ball to the community features. They SAID they did it to make room fo new features in the future … but there has been Bupkis as far as new features, or even leaks of new features, on the horizon.

They did move some data out from behind the paywall, which is good for non-premium users, but it devalued (further) the premium user experience 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Cheers!
    - MK / @mkksemail :) (Maine)

Great summary! Yes, Google has finally started dismantling things. I haven't seen anything about these "new features" they keep referencing either. Very frustrating. I'm not a Premium user so I'm benefiting from some of the unlocked items.

I also wanted to throw out since you said food logging! I connected my Fitbit to MFP and my food log transfers over as a lump (instead of individual foods in Fitbit, I see "345 calories Breakfast" for example and I can still see how my calories in/calories out factors in Fitbit as well as MFP. Having the two helps - if they're both somewhat similar, I know I'm doing okay.

    spinach & strawberry salad

This sounds delightful! Do you mind me asking what all you include in it?

I ended up skipping it because I ran out of time! But my plan was spinach, strawberries, feta, and toasted pecans with a balsamic dressing that my huband makes (crushed garlic, dry mustard, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, and my addition - a little maple syrup )

That sounds wonderful! I'll definitely have to try it for myself, thanks for sharing!

5/9 210.8/DNW ~ Up and out of the house early today. Husband having knee replacement surgery today. Definitely NOT hitting goals this round.

Here's to a successful surgery and quick/easy recovery for your husband! I hope you can get back to your goals quickly and this doesn't derail you in any sort of way

@Comandjarvis ~ Thank you. I didn't plan very well but went to the store this morning and ready to get back in line with health meals!!

5/9 127.5 I spent all day at the elementary school and I am finding it exhausting and I’m not even dealing with the kiddos! Does anyone discipline their children anymore?

@quiltingjaine It's not just the parents. DS's girlfriend teaches in an elementary school. Discipline is not permitted. The kids know that. She has had kids walk out of the classroom and she is not allowed to stop them. And of course, the parents certainly contribute to kids believing such behavior is appropriate.

    Projection/Actual
5/10 210.5/216 ~ Not surprised. You couldn't bring outside food into the waiting room and all they had was a snack machine and coffee. I snacked to keep hunger at bay. By the time I got home, I just needed something quick so it was not a good eating day. One of these times I'm going to have more than two good rounds in a row!!!

    Prior Days This Round
5/2 213.1/213.8 ~ Not terribly surprised after the drops the past couple of days. All good. Got all my water in yesterday!! 🍎👌✅🚶🏽(for 5/1)

5/3 212.8/215.6 ~ Oops, up 1.8 from yesterday. Normally this result would send me spiraling...but this is just how my body works... Fact: I did not eat/drink +5,250 above maintenance (3,500 equal 1 pound). Fact: I did eat/drink ~600 above by targeted calories. I did get all my water in! Tomorrow's another day.👌✅🚶🏽(for 5/2)

5/4 212.2/214.9 ~ Headed back in the right direction. Missed my step goal. 🍎👌✅(for 5/3)

5/5 211.5/214.2 ~ Today is Cinco De Mayo. Husband wants Mexican and Margaritas. 😲😮🤭. Going to be a tough one but I'm going to try to stay at my calorie budget. I have a salad planned for lunch which comes in at 300 calories. That leaves me plenty of room for a (one) margarita and a chicken taco meal. That leaves me with 45 calories to spare. Oops, forgot the chips and guacamole. 🤞🏽 I think I will go for an extra walk at lunch today!🙂 🍎👌✅🚶🏽(for 5/4) 👌✅🚶🏽(for 5/5)

    5/6 211.2/215.7 ✅🚶🏽
    5/7 211.1/ 215.3 🍎

5/8 211.0/ 215.7 - Let's just say the weekend was fun🙂 Now back to some serious business. 3 more days to this round. Just hoping to get back to the SW for the round at this point. 🍎👌🚶🏽

5/9 210.8/DNW ~ Up and out of the house early today. Husband having knee replacement surgery today. Definitely NOT hitting goals this round. 🚫

We ALL have good rounds and bad but that is part of life. Don’t stay away, stay accountable. We don’t judge, we support.-Jpv,2/13/19

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.

People say keto/LCHF isn’t sustainable. I’ve been doing it for over 6 years with amazing results!

This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

We are unstoppable not because we do not have failures but because we continue on despite them. - paraphrase of original quote by Beau Taplin

Up and down - just riding the waves of life. 🌊 🏄‍♀️ (My new mantra-3/19/22)

    SW RND 222 128.0

5/2 128.0 No access to scale after TMI
5/3 127.0 Had gluten free toast and gluten free (brown rice flour) pasta yesterday. Lots of carbs but waiting to see if my knees start to hurt. Tonight maybe Mexican restaurant with family. DGD#2 flies back to Iowa tomorrow.
5/4 128.5 Not surprised. Last night’s Mexican restaurant CHIPS followed high carb pasta from the night before. I woke up at 3:12AM and couldn’t get back to sleep. DGD leaves at noon.
5/5 128.0 DGD finally got home about 1:30AM Iowa time. Delayed flight from LAS to DEN caused her to miss connection and she had to wait several hours for the (rebooked) new flight which was also late. Then an hour drive to her home after waiting for her suitcase. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

*** A word to anyone flying in/out of Las Vegas. Apparently they are working on a runway until late July and this is causing delays on arrivals and departures.

    5/6 126.5
5/7 127.0 Yesterday was a good day so maybe the vinegar salt. At least I haven’t been awakened by foot cramps the last two nights!
5/8 128.5 Zing Zang Bloody Mary??
5/9 127.5 I spent all day at the elementary school and I am finding it exhausting and I’m not even dealing with the kiddos! Does anyone discipline their children anymore?
5/10 127.5 I didn’t sleep worth a darn last night, my right shoulder is killing me and I can’t get it comfortable. Going to WF this morning and school after. I have a couple of projects I need to do at home today also.

@quiltingjaine ~ no worries and thanks! ...he's doing well so far although pain meds made him nauseated last night. He's whining now, because I haven't made it to the hospital yet :) On my way....

@mkksemail @SModa61 -my husband is originally from Machias, and I spent my summers in my family's summer home in Damariscotta. We live in Florida but travel as often as we can.
@mkksemail-I just mentioned in my book about the great fire in Portland in 1866. My book is about a con man Reverend who goes to Maine in the 1860s and cons people in Washington County to give him all their money to go with him to Jaffa for the Second Coming of Christ (it is a true story). It also goes into detail about the Civil War and the Copperhead movement in Washington County (which was surprising to me and has caused me to need to go back and read more old local newspapers from UMM) Sadly, I think this will be the never-ending story, as I learn more and more about that era in Maine.

You are certainly further up into Maine than the rest of us. <3 Your books sound like topics DH would like. Any titles? (I'm a terrible reader)

    Round 222
    45/F/Indiana
    Always welcome new friends
I am back to 173.0 - I've lost these 3 lbs about 5 times now, so now that I got that out of my system, the goal is to break out to the other side and get away from them for good! 160's I'm coming!!!
    Goals: 100+oz water a day, 8k-10k steps a day, cardio 5x a week, strength 3x a week

5.2.2023 - 173.0 - Heading to the gym tonight. Started a new gym and I'm loving it! Plus I'm only paying half of what the old gym costs and this gym has way more. Win, win! Let's knock out these next 10 days!

5.3.2023 - 174.2 - well I ate too much last night, so there’s that. Ugh 😩 I couldn’t stop. But today has been better so far. It’s the evening time that gets me. Heading to the gym soon.

5.4.2023 -173.8 - Last night was strength training and cardio at the gym. I was super sluggish, but finished. Should have done more. I don’t feel so sluggish today and I know it was from the pizza carbs. Staying on track so far today. Let’s see a lower # tomorrow!

5.5.2023 - 173.2 ⬇️ - My teenage son & gym partner is staying with friends tonight. I almost talked myself out of going. But I AM GOING! I owe it to myself to not stop now. I usually take the weekend off, but this new gym is open 24 hrs, which I need. Tonight is strength & cardio. I will meet my goal of 5 days cardio & 3 days strength 😊 Also, I was able to actually run a mile last night! I was proud of myself. It took me 13:32 but I did it! I DID IT🎉 I know that time isn’t impressive but to me, it’s amazing. I’m 45 and I bet grade school was the last time I actively ran. On to the gym!

And THANK YOU beautiful people for being so supportive to me and the others here ♥️

5.6.2023 - 173.6 ⬆️ - not too bad, but surprising. I went to the gym solo as planned last night and did my complete workout and I’m so glad I went! I need to push down the thoughts of “being too tired to go”

5.7.2023 - 172.6 ⬇️ YAY!!! I didn’t go to the gym yesterday as I normally skip Saturday to do my errands. Hit up some yard sales and scored a brand new rebounder for $50! WIN!!! I also went to an auction and scored my husband a highway landmark sign for the musician’s hall of fame. He was stoked! We visited the in-laws and then had an impromptu date of bowling. It was a really good Saturday.

5.8.2023 - 173.0 ⬆️ No gym last night but that’s ok. I stuck to my goals and planned meals. So I did good. This increase is small so that’s good. Normally we go out for breakfast on Sunday morning and I believe that has been part of this plateau issue bc Monday morning is usually more than a lb up. We will see how this plays out. Gym tonight with my son.

5.9.2023 - 173.0 🟰 Did cardio & strength at the gym last night and just cardio tonight. I recently purchased a workout/food log book and it helps keep me on track better. MFP works, but having the pages to flip back and forth in my hands helps me see where I’m at. Maybe I’ve just gotten bored with logging in MFP. Idk. I still do though, but usually at the end of the day. This way I know I’m not forgetting something.

5.10.2023 - ⬇️ 171.6 🎉 Nice!!! But I don’t want to get my hopes up that possibly this plateau is starting to budge. Really enjoying the new gym. I have cardio & strength tonight. I use Apple fitness + on the treadmill, rowing machine, and cycling. I like that it makes the time go by faster. 😊

I think I'd like to start incorporating some strength training back into my activity routine. 6plus years ago I was majorly into kettle bell workouts, started having some issues with my elbow and shoulder and just stopped. I've got a whole set of them that my boys now use. This week I'm planning on carving myself out a space down there to give them a go again...starting slowly to make sure I get my form back.

I love kettlebell workouts! One month my niece and I did a challenge of 100 swings a day for the entire month. It was a fun challenge.
