Sunny day at the beach. Not too hot, about 65° (19C) with a breeze. I'm taking a short getaway to go play my once every 5 years round of golf with a friend. Should be fun.

Happy Monday
When I'm wogging outside, i always tend to do more of a distance. The treadmill is convenient as I can do it after the kids have gene to bed, or if its too early/late to be outside alone - but i really do refer being outside. I'm going to try for more outdoor wogs this week.
June 2nd - 3.1km (treadmill)
June 3rd - 3.5km (treadmill)
June 4th - 7.05km (outdoor wog)
June 5th - 4.75km (outside wog)
18.4km down

Morning all
Got in 4 today! 2M to the gym and 2M back6 -
Good morning everyone!
I had a great time at the gym today! Seriously! It was nice to work out after so many days off. I decided to test out my back with a short slow run on the treadmill. My shoulder started out fine but began to ache after a few minutes, so I completed just 1.7 km. I wanted to test where I was at in the recovery process, to see if I can start running again, or if I need to take some more time. It looks like I will need at least a few more days. Then I took @tarun_yadavA 's advice and "ellipticalled" for an hour . Since it wasn't hard impact, I didn't notice any pain in my back unless I tried to use the arm thingys- So I did the hour pretty much no hands or with one hand. I am going to try to leave out/ reduce pain meds and see how I feel. I am pretty optimistic about everything at the moment. So it was a great morning! I hope tomorrow is equally good . Have a nice day everyone!

June 3 – 7.03 miles
I ran 7 miles with a friend on Saturday morning and then another friend texted and we made last minute plans to go hiking and camping. Got on the trail round 2:45 pm Saturday and hiked until we set up camp around 7:30 pm. Packed up, made breakfast and was back on the trail at 6:45 am Sunday morning. We finished hiking around 2:30 yesterday afternoon. We traveled 22 miles and had over 4500 feet of ascent over this time period. Unfortunately, I wore some shoes that I had not worn for a few months and they were not kind to my feet. I know have 4 blisters on them so I wimped out on running this morning.
@quilteryoyo – Hope you enjoyed your visit to Hot Springs. Never been there until last month when I was there twice due to hiking on the AT. Ate at Vinyl Pizza both times and would happily do so again – it was so good!
Happy really belated Birthday @chris_in_cal
Happy MFP-anniversary @Scott6255!
Ouch @Laurz9191 – Glad your back is doing better. Be gentle with yourself and let it heal completely (easier said than done).

@Laurz9191 great iob figuring out what you can do, and doing it! Hope it heals quickly for you!
I did my walk in the city where I had an appointment this morning. It definitely looks completely different there this time of year, compared to when I was going there all winter. We sat outside at a cafe for coffee/tea & sandwiches.9 -

You and me both!
@Teresa502 Ouch! Hope the blisters heal up quickly!
@Laurz9191 Glad the elliptical worked out for you. It's good you have an option while you heal up2 -

Another short pre-work run this morning. Saw an armadillo shuffling along the road. O/w unremarkable.6 -
Woke up to thunderstorms this morning so went back to bed 😁 But got 7 TM miles in after work.
Thanks for the kudos on my MFP streak. There is no big secret to doing it. Like everything, it's difficult at the beginning, but then you get into a habit and it just happens without really thinking about it. It helps if you are a little OCD like I am. 😉
8 -
@martaindale I'm sure the armadillo is nothing new for you, but I just love all the variety of little animals around the world. In Poland, among other things we have somewhat elusive hedgehogs, very rare (and nasty-mean but cute) european hamsters, feisty red squirrels, and so many neighborhood cats. In Pennsylvania it was groundhogs, chipmunks and grey squirrels.
Today's wildflower pic:
I forgot to check on my poppy friend. After my walk I took 15 minutes to start attacking the mountain of yard trash (grass, brush clippings, weeds and I don't know what else but so far haven't found any bodies) that's been in the backyard since we moved in. My dream is to convert it to a flowerbed/garden, but it's too big for us to safely burn all at once and my husband won't have time this week to help. So my plan is to do just a little at a time. Hauling stuff to the fire pit, turning over ground in the clear sections with a shovel. Apparently at some point I had dumped a bunch of (I think) butternut squash seeds into the big pots I had in the basement over winter, so when I repurposed that dirt to start some marigolds, a whole army of squash seedlings came up. They're going to need a lot of room. But I'm just going to do a little bit at a time.8 -

Mom's water did get fixed Sunday. All it needed was to be re-primed, thankfully. She watched and she now knows how to do it herself, so hopefully, if it happens again, we can fix it without bothering the neighbor.
Happy six year MFPiversery @Scott6255 !
@polskagirl01 Glad you were able to host/participate in your church BBQ. Love your attitude. Sounds like the little town is a great place for a walk. Love the wildflowers. Good luck with the squash and garden plot.
Great summer plan @martaindale .
@Laurz9191 Sorry about the pinched nerve. I hope it improves quickly.
Enjoy your golfing @chris_in_cal .
Doing great @Glow87 !
Great running and restraint @tarun_yadavA !
That was a lot of exercise over the weekend @Teresa502 . I hope the blisters heal quickly. We ate at the little restaurant by the stream. It was okay. I'll have to try the pizza place next time I'm over there.

Colds suck. I started this month with a scratchy throat. My goal of 90 well we will see
Tried out a little 2 mile easy run today to see if it would help me drain the crap out of my head some also. The funny part is that no one seems to care. I have a hair appt this afternoon (2 hours) and a Dr appt tomorrow at lunch and I called both to see if they wanted to delay because of my cold. Both said wear a mask and come in. WOW. On one of my work calls yesterday one of the engrs said he had the same thing but he was at work. So... sucking it up and going into work this morning for 1/2 day. Will wear a mask and try to keep from getting anyone else sick. Not sure if I am still contagious but I think with a cold you are as long as you have symptoms vs flu where the fever dictates.
7 -
Dang @SummerSkier I would think nowadays people would want you to stay at away if you have ANY symptoms. Guess we will never learn. Hope you feel better soon.
@quilteryoyo glad your Mom has water again, and she learned how to prime the well. Never too old to learn
Got in 7.2 miles this morning. I didn't realize today's workout was supposed to be a time trial. Oh well, I set a low bar

It was so nice this morning. After taking two rest days in a row, I was really ready to run today. And my run could not have been better. I got up and got going with no problems which is sometimes hard for me. I do usually get up early to run, but I am not a morning person by nature and I rarely get to bed before 10:30-11:00. The weather was extremely pleasant. It was about 64°F with no wind. It was a little humid, but not terrible. I got out early enough that it was still dark, but the moon was just gorgeous and the sun came up as I ran. I saw some cats and a skunk. I also saw lots of birds including a beautiful cardinal. This was definitely a run where I felt like I could run forever. I ended up running 7 miles which is longer than I usually run on a weekday, but I just couldn't resist. I would have run longer if I hadn't had to go to work today.
@SummerSkier I don't know why people won't stay home when they are sick. Last week one of my coworkers came in and said she thought she was coming down with Strep. I hope you are feeling better soon.
@teresa502 I hope your blisters heal soon!
@martaindale I have never seen a live armadillo! I see lots of skunks, racoons, foxes, and possums. And of course cats, but unfortunately the only armadillos I have seen ever seen have been hit by cars.

It is nice to spends some time where I grew up. It has perhaps quadrupled in size since my childhood. But most of my favorite nooks and crannies are still here. I'm heading back to San Diego now

Evening all!
Got in a 5K... Not the usual time of day for me
@quilteryoyo - glad there's water back!
@Summerskier - hope you're not struggling with the flu!
@Laurz9191 - can see you killing it with all the varied workouts! How's injury heeling?5 -
Me in a suit and tie... Last went into the office in September 2022!8

I have always been a little weird about germs but the pandemic sent that into overdrive. If someone has a cough, sniffles, sinus stuff, whatever I want them to stay away from me! We still wear masks at work to see patients and I don't know if I will ever stop. People used to come in sick all the time and I have really enjoyed the lack of exposure over the last few years.
@kgirlhart I'm kind of surprised you haven't seen an armadillo! You see so much wildlife. I have only seen them on runs around sunrise but you are regularly out pretty early. Weird.4 -

I have some anxiety, and when we were required to stand 6 feet apart in our grocery stores it was revelatory. Peace while standing on line! I was a fan.
People are now back to tailgating in lines and crowding the people in front of them.

Snap on both! I will run a mile from a germ, and also loved the space and now mutter loudly when people crowd me.
My run today sucked, we had to do a specific route for the club challenge and it was steep with horrible footing, plus my watch didn't start and life is yucky atm. In short, I ended up struggling to breathe from trying to scramble up on all 4s while crying. Yuck. We ended up with our heads in the clouds, and my friend taking selfies while I cried. D'oh. I have to find time and courage to go back and do it all again. Well preferably not the crying or gasping for air or finding myself face down on a slope unable to move up or down. Apparently the views from the top were good, can't say I noticed them though.11 -
Definitely just a cold and not flu thank goodness. I had the flu in early 2018 and altho this was not fun it did not compare to the bone achy sweat filled flu and not even covid.
I am super careful and mask and sanitize but being at work this morning it was apparent it was widespread in the entire open Bay Area. I HATE that seating arrangement. I was masked and actually not coughing or sneezing badly today but many were hacking around me. I was happy to get out the door at noon and stay remote. Folks mostly have lost the germ careful thing I guess. Still haven’t figured out the source but sore throat on Thursday meant exposure Monday (holiday) or Tuesday (work).7 -
June 1: Walk = 2.00 miles - trip to Hot Springs
June 2: Wun/Walk = 2.00 miles - also mowed mom's lawn
June 3: Walk = 2.00 miles - also mowed my lawn
June 4: Walk = 2.00 miles
June 5: Walk = 1.00 mile - Run = 2.25 miles - driveway laps
June 5: Walk = 2.50 miles - Run = 2.00 miles - treadmill intervals plus tree debris for almost an hour
15.75/80 mile goal
I haven't posted my exercise since Saturday. I did my normal 2 mile walk on Sunday and then yesterday I did a two mile run/walk on the driveway early in the morning, while it was still cool out. I tried to keep my HR under 143 bpm, so was slow, but got the miles in.
Today was a busy one, with lots of waiting for people to show up, or not. You can read about my entire day in the spoiler below, if you are interested.
At the end of the day, I started to just wun, but decided to do quarter mile intervals on the treadmill. I did a walk/run, alternating quarter miles, at 3.8/5.0 mph. After 4 miles, I walked a half mile for cool down. I am counting it as 2 miles ran and 2.5 miles walked. The overall avg pace was 14:07 min/mile. Avg HR was 124 with a max of 150 bpm.I got up early this morning because my early bird neighbor was coming up to cut down a dead pine tree for me. It was leaning toward my driveway and I knew if it fell I'd be stuck. He got here a little before 7:30 and cut it down and up into pieces small enough for me to handle. Then, he helped me put the mower deck on my DR.
After he left, I loaded up the tree and branches into my Gator and took them to a good place to dump them where they would be out of sight and able to rot at their own rate. There were a total of 5 loads...that was my strength training for the day. Actual time picking up and being active doing that was 51 minutes.
While my neighbor was here, the Co-Op called about delivering fertilizer I had ordered, but I felt the grass was too wet and afraid the truck would slide down the steepest hill in my field, so we decided to wait until about 2:30 this afternoon - he'd call when they had a driver that could come this way.
Yesterday, I thought I had made an arrangement for an electrician to come to mom's between 10:30 and 11 to see what the cheapest fix would be to give her a better circuit for her space heaters. (The wiring in her old house is old and not really safe for that.) So, after the fifth load of twigs, I stopped at mom's and we talked until 11:30. When I hadn't heard a word from the electrician. I came on home and had a message on my house phone that said they wanted to come before 11, if possible. I didn't get the message and he hadn't heard from me, so he was at another job. He said he would try to get someone to come by later today, so I was on "hold" to see if I got a call. (I hate that, by the way.) I guess we got our wires crossed yesterday.
Since I was waiting for two people to call, I tried to find some things on my list that I could do and easily be able to stop in the middle if needed. I did find things so that I wasn't just sitting around, but couldn't start anything outside or didn't want to start a run either.
The Co-Op called about 2:20 and said they would be here in about 45 min, so I got in my Gator and went down to meet them at the road. While I waited, I trimmed some trees that were blocking my view when I pulled out from my driveway. I showed the delivery guy my field and where the line was and he got with it. Only took him about 15 min, if that.
By the time I got everything put up, it was about 4. I figured the electrician wasn't going to come, so went down for a treadmill run, in case he called. He didn't. I'm hoping he can come by in the morning or later this week.5 -
@SummerSkier I hope you feel better soon!
@Scott6255 Hahaha. At least you know you will improve your time next try, unless you forget again. Mom is a real trouper about learning new things. She has learned how to use a smart phone and text over the last two years. I'm really proud of her.
@AlphaHowls It looks like you are upping your already high bar! Great mileage for the month already.
Sounds like you had a wonderful run @kgirlhart ! Great job on the extra mileage today.
Glad you enjoyed your time away @chris_in_cal . Going back home and seeing all the changes can be hard.
Nice evening run @tarun_yadavA ! That 5K should be fun! Looking good in that suit and tie. AND, it's been almost a year since you went into the office? Amazing!
@eleanorhawkins So sorry your run was so bad for you and that life is not good atm. I hope both improve soon. The fact that you want to go back and do it again proves what a fighter you are!

@Teresa502 your hike and camping experience sounds amazing. Sorry it resulted in blisters. Hopefully those heal sooner rather than later.
Today, I've just managed a short run, very short but i had to squeeze it in between housework and a work call. I'm hoping to get out after the kids have gone to bed, its still super light outside till just before 10pmso fingers crossed. I didn't run/wog yesterday - but i did go swimming which was nice. I need a better/maybe bigger swimming hat though because I really hate getting my hair done and then getting it wet!
