Walked today. Wasn't feeling up to digging, but my hanging flower pots arrived, so I assembled them and hung them (empty) in their various spots, to make sure those are their spots.
Then I sat down at the quilt and decided I wasn't quitting until it was out of the frame. The last row went pretty quickly and I had just enough thread! It's special quilting thread I brought from the US, and I really thought I was going to run out with just a few inches left. I then got the edges trimmed and the binding machine-sewn to the front side. Back side will be hand-sewn, maybe this weekend.
I still think it's ugly but am hoping the light blue border will soften some of those pinks and reds clashing everywhere.
@eleanorhawkins sorry you had a bad run today. The picture I saw on Facebook looked great, but it also didn't show your crying face 😢4 -

Yes! The blue trim does give it an extra ompf! (That's meant to be a good thing!)1 -
I've always wanted to run the City2Surf. I've bought a ticket twice and both times couldn't do it due to injury 😫 maybe it will be 3rd time lucky 🤔 the event is August 13th. For the next few weeks my goal is to just establish regular running again, 2-3 times a week. I've been able to get out once a week the last few weeks. This week I'll be able to get out twice. I've also signed up to Saturday parkruns, so hopefully that can help to keep me in check. The city2surf is 14km and has a famously hard long hill. I'm currently running around 7km on a good day 😖
To sum up, GOAL: run at least twice a week, one of those runs being at least 7km, increasing every 2 weeks 😊😊7 -
@chris_in_cal that is a great goal to shoot for, and a nice reward at the end. You can do it!
RE: haze and poor air quality... I just saw a headline that Canadian wildfires are causing very poor air quality over many states. Some airports are even grounding planes. NY is even issuing N95 masks. Be careful out there!!
I did leave work early (mostly out of frustration) and do a 7 mile TM run. Happy Global Running Day!

Got out a little later than normal and it was a hot one.
I am envious of people who have been working remotely for the past few years. My job is not one that you can do remotely, at least not totally. We have been in-person the whole time and only now is our leadership starting to make some changes that would let people do some remote work. It's a slowly moving machine.5 -

@polskagirl01 The quilt is looking good. I understand not loving the color scheme but there is something about it that makes it seem retro. Less fancy or something.3 -

I ran 6.5 miles today. It was another pleasant morning. I have really been enjoying the nice weather. It is supposed to be hot next week with highs over 100°F and lows in the upper 70's, so I am enjoying it while I can.

Still colding away. I was remote the entire pandemic along with one of my employees. The other had to be on site for their job but they had min contact in that location. It's funny because when we started returning to the office in 2022 there was almost a backlash AGAINST remote work and a lot of folks just quit. At some point HR decided that offering 2 days a week remote would be a good incentive for hiring new folks so I jumped on it and chose Tues/Thur since I sometimes take vacation on Fridays I never got Covid from work but I am pretty sure I got this cold from it as I looked at my exposures and it had to be.
I still think some folks don't trust remote workers at all and I can see in some cases why because I can easily tell who is activly working vs just keeping up with email/text etc. C'est la vie. Tarun you looked pretty durn SHARP in that suit and tie! ✅🌟💖5 -
Walked today. Decided to explore a different direction on the tractor paths and ended up finding paths I didn't know about! Only problem was it took me a bit further than I had planned to go today. And I still had to pass the guy with the tent by the cemetery on the way back. He had just come out of the tent, and went ahead and off into the woods beside the path. So on one hand, I felt like I was walking through someone's living room, and on the other, I didn't know where exactly he was or whether he had seen me. I just kept going.
Pretty views. A bird was a bit upset with me at one point, I'm guessing until I passed wherever she had her nest.
The green colors were so pretty today.
Blue arrow points to tent guy's camp spot. I guess he chose to set up right on the path so maybe he doesn't actually care if people walk right by where he's sleeping. His cat wasn't thrilled to see me.

Another beautiful day! I have been plodding along, both physically and metaphorically, in the background reading your posts.
I was back in the office in October '20, we created a socially distanced office space and everyone was back by March '21.
A little jealous of your 5k @tarun_yadavA though I will get there. I am based in the UK, a bit further south near Eastbourne, If you went much further south you would get your feet wet!
The problem with being awesome @eleanorhawkins is that others can seem a disappointment. Stay as awesome as you are!
A house is a worthy reward for your sacrifice @chris_in_cal . I had the same idea to replace my old garmin fenix with a new version. The only glitch is that, even on plan, I would not break 200 lbs until May '24! Good things are worth waiting for.

My heart rate still looks to be improving so there is hope.
Today I am trying a very slow, all day, sprint triathalon. A 1k swim this morning (30 mins), a 5k brisk walk at lunch (48 mins) and a 20k ride this evening. Not sure they'll allow a 4 hour change over at a real event!
I agreed for my work to add me to the London Marathon list on behalf of the Stroke association. There is very little chance of me getting in.

Sorry SummerSkier for having an 'almost' SummerCold.
I think peoples' opinions on what remote work is more of a Rorschach test on the person with the opinon and less on what actual remote work is.
I believe the push to remote work is hardest on middle management, because a significant part of the job was walking around looking at people and organizing groups. That still happens just in a different way, and as we know some folks don't want to consider a different way. Others embrace change.
I am not now, nor have I ever been middle-management
My work is real data dependent. Early on a lot of middle management (and strangely dads) would push push push to talk about returning to "normal." However, our outcomes were just overwhelmingly positive. We had, and continue to have, some of our most highly productive quarters. There was no, none, zero, zilch, business case for pushing a return to 'normal.'5 -

Still hot but the earlier start meant less direct sun exposure, which helps how hot it feels sooo much. And I caught a lovely sprinkler in the last mile, when I needed it most.6 -

Sorry your run yesterday was a struggle @Teresa502 . It was a bit chilly for me to have enjoyed a run in the rain. Glad your blisters are healing nicely. Hey, have you ever run a race at Lake Junaluska? There's one in July I am thinking about signing up for.
Congratulations on the new house @chris_in_cal . Great plan for the reward too. That will be excellent motivation and you can set aside a few dollars each week so it doesn't feel like such a big blow all at once. Maybe give yourself $5 for each pound you loose every week so you can see the money build up as the pounds disappear.

Knocked off one run for the week last night, 7km. Got out there despite the threat of rain. Found some well lit streets, it's always a bit risky running at night, I worry I will trip or sprain an ankle. I have a 5km parkrun tomorrow morning, but will probably add a k before and after to bring it to 7km. Feeling good to be on track, and my calves are getting used to running again, not so sore this time 🙌🏼

June 2: Wun/Walk = 2.00 miles - also mowed mom's lawn
June 3: Walk = 2.00 miles - also mowed my lawn
June 4: Walk = 2.00 miles
June 5: Walk = 1.00 mile - Run = 2.25 miles - driveway laps
June 6: Walk = 2.50 miles - Run = 2.00 miles - treadmill intervals plus tree debris for almost an hour
June 7: Walk= 200 miles - treadmill
June 8: Walk= 1.45 miles - Run = 1.80 miles - driveway laps
I worked at daycare 6 hours today. I decided to wait until I got home to exercise and do a couple of things on my long to-do list before I left home. Daycare was fairly easy. They told me the one little girl that loves me so much has been asking where I was all week and even got mad at the director because she said she had told her I would be there. LOL She's a mess.
Anyway, I went out to run after I got home. The weather is great today. At 5:30 it was only 72F (22.2C) with low humidity. I didn't really run for 46 min. I did intervals again - walking .35 miles for warm up, then did 6 x (run 0.3 mile/walk 0.15 mile), walked 0.35 miles to cool down. Total of 3.25 miles in 46:04 min. Avg pace was 14:10 min/mile. Avg HR was 135 with a max of 164 bpm - during the last run when I pushed it a little. My running segment paces were 12:16, 12:16, 11:53, 12:13, 12:10, and 11:00 min/mile. I was pleased with that since I was running at a pretty easy pace, by feel....except for the last one. Still that one wasn't a sprint either.
I didn't post yesterday. I did do a 2 mile treadmill run in the morning before heading out for my great-nephew's birthday party in a nearby town. I'm glad it did it then, because it was 8:30 when we got home last night.6
