8: 199.1- busy week. Had the roof of our house replaced, had our facia boards wrapped in aluminum to keep the carpenter bees away… and getting new gutters this Tuesday. 12: 199.4…time to stop the creep back. My Father-in-Law’s 85th celebration was great. He is currently building a canoe in his workshop. I just love how active he is. I overindulged in cookies and birthday cake though and tonight we’re having a work dinner at a restaurant in Ann Arbor. I just have to keep it in check. No alcohol tonight since I’m such a light weight with drinks and I have a 45-60 minute drive home. Plus, alcohol makes me sleepy. Happy Monday!
13: 199.5… no alcohol last night and was home by 9:30pm. Today I’m playing with my new hedge trimmers…. I should have taken a before picture!

@joans1976 and @deepwoodslady The don't quit attitude is fabulous. Look at the success you both have had. You are an inspiration to those who have a lot to lose; don't forget that, and don't give up.
As long as we are persistence in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time.

    June Reflection:
I won't have time to write this tomorrow (busy day) so wrote it today.

I am happy with my results. Down another 5.8 pounds (my goal is a pound a week). I started out strong but then hit a wall midmonth. Just at the end of the month, started to move again. I was going to try weighing in weekly instead of daily but decided against that. I think I need the daily reminder.

I logged 205 miles on my Fitbit in June, 1,140 year to date - just on target. My goal is 200 miles. My tracker says that I should make my 2,023 Fitbit miles in 2023 on November 16 (if I continue with this pace). I am continuing with the strength and tai chi, although don’t like it as much as walking, so sometimes just 10 minutes at a time. I tried Yoga - hated it.

I finished the second book of the Shadow and Bone triology and started the third (Ruin and Rising). I didn't much care for the second book, but this one is much better. I read her Six of Crows series and adored them which led me to these- should be finished by the weekend.

I taught myself how to crochet and made this sweater. It was supposed to have sleeves, but after finishing one I decided I didn't like them and took them out. I like that if you make a mistake in crochet, how easy it is to undo – unlike knitting which is a nightmare!

    rfl98un3umyi.jpg

The garden is coming along. We had a small catastrophe with the peas and cucumbers (our pesky groundhog had a good lunch), but then we moved the pots to the enclosed the garden and they are coming back. I should have my first zucchini next week. Every potato we planted has grown – I may be up to my eyeballs in potatoes in August. It needs weeding, but here is the "in the ground" garden. The potatoes are in the back; taking over!

    284fud9wr8js.jpg

I have a couple of challenges this month. We are going to Nashville for a long weekend with family next weekend. Probably a lot of drinking and eating. I will enjoy myself and then just get back to it when we return. We are also having company staying with us the last week in July. The biggest challenge is that Hubby’s work assignment is over, and he decided to retire for real this time. Although I am very happy to have him home with me, I find that I don’t exercise as much on the weekend when he is home – so I hope that it doesn’t ruin my routine and success. His last day is tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Thank you everyone in this group for being so supportive. Best support group I've found.

@buckeyebabe717 and @ddainiak Thanks so much for the encouragement. Sometimes I just want to throw my hands up and throw in the towel. Sometimes I even do. But I do try to come back daily and post, even if I don't log my food, close my diary or report my weight. Even if I don't weigh in at all. I know there are fluctuations and that weight loss is not linear. But I also know when I've totally blown it or had a binge that I just can't face. I don't need to know I've screwed up by looking at the scale or sharing something I am so very ashamed of. But I know I do need to keep weight loss on the forefront of my mind by coming back. I also don't want to miss any inspirations or ideas. It's all part of the journey for me. Even the parts I can't face. Thanks for the support and the kind words. Sometimes I feel unworthy, but I do appreciate it!

06/28-197.0-(Trend Weight 197.1)- I think I finally lost the water weight from the Pizza on Sunday. I’ve also been working on self-draining my ankles with feet up daily for at least 30 minutes. I seem to have shed a lot of water yesterday as reflected on the scale. It was day 3 of my 21 day mini-challenge to do some simple weight training with hand weights and bands. I’m working on my bat wings among other things. Air quality was horrid yesterday. I stayed inside mainly and kept the windows closed. It was difficult with no A/C but necessary.

06/29-196.8-(Trend Weight 197.1)- Traveled today with my son. Lots of sitting and restaurant food. Tomorrow I pay the fiddler. Getting ready to drain my ankles and do my strength training. I seriously need the draining very badly today after all the sitting today.

Hello, I'm Darlene. I'm 62. I Married, and have one kid (28) and one pup (Monty), no grandkids. I have been retired since 2020. My husband was retired, but returned to work in January. I vowed to take this year to lose weight, get healthy, give up some bad habits, exercise, read more, etc. Back again this month! Thanks again Jill!

    June Goals
    Lose 4 pounds ⚖️
Log 175+ Miles on Fitbit 🏃‍♂️
Drink 6-8 Glasses of Water Daily 💦
    Read daily 📖
Do something creative daily - Knit, Crochet, Color, puzzel etc. 🧶 🖍️ 🧩

    Highest Weight - 227
    Jan Loss - 9 Pound
    Feb Loss - 5 pounds
    March Loss - 5 Pounds
    April Loss - 8 Pounds
    May Loss - 5.2 Pounds
    May Ending weight: 194.8
Total weight lost to date: 32.2 Pounds
Goal Weight - 160 (May change as I get closer)

June 1 - 194.4 - My lowest weight in May was 194.2 - so not cheering yet.
    June 2 - 194 😁
    June 3 - 193.2 😁
June 4 - 193 😁 - Very happy with this, went out for lunch yesterday, so expected to see a rise!
    June 5 - 192.6 😁
    June 6 - 191.6 😁
    June 7 - 191.6 :|
    Junr 8 - 191 😁 Don't know it's happening, but I'll take it while it lasts.
    June 9 - 191.8 ☹️ I guess I shouldn't be that unhappy - I had a lot of smiles lately.
Jun 10 - 192.8 ☹️ Took the day off yesterday. First day since Mid March that I was over my calorie limit. The old me would say - "You go off your diet one day and you gain it all back; why bother"; the new me says "Let's hit the next fitbit badge today to make up for it". Woke up early - got a mile on the treadmill. Hoping I can beat my "best in a day" today and get that next badge.
Jun 11 - 192.8 😁 Well got that badge yesterday; 25,789 steps! My goal is to only use 1/2 of calories gained by exercise, did that. Drank all my water. I also rmet the 1,000 miles in 2023 milestone. I will be over halfway there today. So, I took a smile today. Somethings gotta happen! Maybe there will be a big swish tomorrow.
Jun 12 - :| 192.4 Not a big swish, but at least I'm down from yesterday.
Jun 13 - 191.8 :| Making my way back slowly but surely.
    Jun 14 - 191.6
    Jun 15 - 191.2
Jun 16 - 189.6 😁 Made it there. Hoping I can keep it there; It's going to be a challenging couple of days. Having lunch with my old work buddies today, then my daughter is coming over tonight to take us out to dinner to celebrate Father's day. Two outings in one day! We'll probably go out for breakfast on Saturday too before she goes back home. I'm going to have a good time, but hopefully make some wise choices and get a walk in before and after my lunch date.
Jun 17 - 191 - Well is was a short stay, but hoping to relocate there for a longer stay this week! It is what I expected, so not disappointed. Had a wonderful day visiting my old work friends. They are all still there; reminded me how fortunate I am to have retired (they ciomplained a lot - LOL). Then had a nice dinner with my daughter and hubby. He decided he wanted to eat in, get pizza. She made a great dessert. I did stay within my calorie limit all day, but the sodium levels from lunch and pizza werre off the charts. Out for breakfast this morning to Hubby's favorite breakfast spot, then I'm back to the grindstone.
    Jun 18 - 190.6
Jun 19 - 190.6 - Still struggling to see the 180s again. Beginning to think it was a figment of my imagination!
Jun 20 - 190.4 -Still haning on to those 90s!
Jun 21 - 190.4 - We have a small vacation coming up July 7-10 (Nashville) so I am going to go above and beyond for the next couple of weeks. I usually use 1/2 of my earned calories from exercise - going to shoot for not using them at all and see if that gets me out of the 90s. Don't get me wrong, the 1990s were good years (that's when my daughter was born), but the 80s were fun times (my twenty years).
Jun 22 - DWN -Don't Wanna Know! Trivia night last night, was under my calorie range for the day, but the salt from the pizza! We tied for first place, but lost the tie breaker so got second. I don't have any othre committments or distractions until our trip, so time to focus, focus, focus.
    Jun 23 - 190.4
Jun 24 - 190.6 It appears that I am stuck, but something has to give and it won't be my motivation to get there.
    Jun 25 - 190 - Finally! Hope I see the 80s tomorrow!
Jun 26 - 190.2 - Self sabatoged yesterday; actually better than I thought it would be. A new day, a new week.
Jun 27 - 189.6 😁 Yahoo! Now to keep it in the 80s for a while!
    Jun 28 - 189.6
    Jun 29 - 189 😁
Jun 30 - 188.4 😁 Hubby's last day of work today. His work assignment is complete and he has decided to retire for good this time. I am excited to have him home with me, but can't lie also am anxious that it will change my routine. But, he is very supportive so I think everything will be great. Looking forward to what July brings.

We’ll…. I didn’t think I’d do it, but I squeaked out a 1.6 pound loss this month. I am very happy with this since I tend to gain in the summer and I am finishing below 200 pounds for 2 months in a row. Progress not perfection!

See you on the July thread!

@ddainiak I really enjoyed your post with all the pictures. I have finished several Stephen King books this month and am currently reading Fairy Tale by him. I have been thinking about taking up crochet but am very reticent because I have never done anything like it. I love your sweater. I really want to make some crochet dolls for the grands. How hard is it to learn? Congrats to your hubby for his retirement....try not to kill each other. lol 😉

Hello, I am Amanda, a crazy cat lady from Michigan. This group is uplifting and supportive and I have been through many ups and downs the past year.

@Buckeyebabe7l7 I am a knitter, so I think that helped with the ability to pick up crochet. I watched a youtube followed along as she made the sweater. I think you could do it. 😁
