Got in 7.4km this morning. There were some clouds in the sky, so the heat wasn’t as bad even though I left the house a bit late again.
I am off to meet up with some of my oldest friends for the weekend, so no more running till Monday .
143km/150km for July. I’m planning on squeezing the last 7 in on Monday .7 -
Made my 100 yesterday with 4 days to go! My avg mileage for the month was not one of my best but definitely better up almost a mile per day.
July has been good. I have been able to play tennis and sleep and run without taking a lot of meds and some days I even forget I have an injury. Sucks that it takes 90 days or more for things to resolve but all part of the process. I am NOT patient that way but I know it could be worse.
@AlphaHowls awesome list of summertime positives!! As I yearn for ANY morning below 70 and 80% humidity it is better to remember that my FINGERS are not freezing off.
@polskagirl01 sorry about the family stuff. Not fun but pretty cool you got a nice little endorphin shadow from your sprint to the garage. 😊
I really wish MFP would fix the issues posting from my non apple friends. 😩 I even had to join Strava just to keep an eye on @tarun_yadavA 😉7 -
@kgirlhart Great running. I hope they got the dog fence fixed permanently. Glad Wednesday's run was better at the end. Sorry to see that the dog went after you again. You may have to call animal control and complain. I know you don't want to, but that may be necessary. Of course, I have changed my route because of dogs around here too. It is annoying. I think someone once mentioned that they run with a mini fog horn - something on their key chain, that they can sound to scare off dogs. I had thought about trying to find one myself, but never did.
@Teresa502 Great running and congrats on your highest month total already . I had my first homegrown tomato and bacon sandwich earlier this week. It was so good....the tomato was from a neighbor. Ours aren't red yet, but are getting there. I agree...they are so much better than anything you can get from the store.
@Scott6255 I hope you enjoyed the outdoor concert. Great job with your running.
@AlphaHowls Great list of summer positives.
Great running with the jet lag @tarun_yadavA !
@polskagirl01 Nice run report. I'm sure that felt nice to do and glad things didn't get too wet. Sorry about the family drama coming back though.
Thanks @Mari33a ! You are doing great running when you can!
@Laurz9191 Great running and glad you enjoyed your trip to Long Beach. Enjoy your friends weekend! Sounds great.
Great running @SummerSkier ! Congrats on making 100 miles already. I have thought about joining Strava to keep up with people. Is it hard to join?
Think I got caught up. Sorry I've been missing for a few days again. Just haven't had the time to get on the computer and I really have a hard time commenting from my phone, which what I have when I'm watching the kids sleep at daycare. LOL I'll try to catch you up on my last few runs/walks in a little while - after I do tonight's workout.

Great job getting your 100 miles @SummerSkier!
Like the all positive vibes @AlphaHowls!
Got in my 10K TM after work. Outside tomorrow morning. God help us all 🥵

@quilteryoyo @Teresa502 Y'all are just starting to get tomatoes and mine peaked a few weeks ago. They are still producing a little, but are definitely on their way out. They're looking pretty rough. My basil is hanging strong though!2

This morning's run felt really good. Just one of those mornings where everything clocks into place. It was only 75F, so wasn't as stifling. I hit sprinklers about every 2 miles. My legs felt fresher after a short run yesterday and a good night's sleep. Just a really nice run.7 -
I am deflating. From being busy I rescheduled a run, and then cancelled it. Today's run I cancelled from feeling ill. Some of you run with limbs hanging off whilst in 1000 degree heat. I have a tummy ache.
A massive implosion, or minor setback? We'll see.9 -
chris_in_cal wrote: »Some of you run with limbs hanging off whilst in 1000 degree heat. I have a tummy ache.
Heat you can cure with water - stomach issues have consequences that can't be solved if you re 3 miles from a toilet! A wise choice. I didn't exercise yesterday because those that said they were going backed out and I went "Well why should I then", nothing stopped me other than being ****** off with them. SMH!
Great work on reaching the 100 @SummerSkier . I have hit my much smaller target of 50 miles and hope to push towards 60 with tomorrow's long run.
It has gone from 'Scorchio' to 'bring your brolly' here in a heartbeat. Good luck with the outdoor run @Scott6255
How is the garden looking @polskagirl01 ?
I attempted a new yoga lesson today, more of a 'flow' than the grounded stretching I tried so far. Fair to say it was a good job nobody was watching as I faceplanted more than once trying one legged poses.

Morning everyone!
Got in another 6K. Taking it easy with pace/distance for a week or two.
@SummerSkier awww. Joining Strava! 😊
@Teresa502 nearly... Sleeping etc at right times now... But still tired.
Off day today. Pre booked from months ago. England v Australia at the stadium 🍻7 -
@martaindale Yeah for the tomatoes. Sorry yours are on the way out. I'm sure you get to set things out so much earlier in TX than we do here. That sounds like a great run this morning.
@Scott6255 I hope your temps were better than expected this morning for your outdoor run.
@chris_in_cal Sorry, but that post made me laugh. I say a minor set back. You can't do anything about yesterday, so let that go. Missing a couple of planned runs is not the end. If it was, we'd all be done. Just get back out there when your feeling better. You only fail if you don't continue to try.
Hahaha @TheMrWobbly . It's good that you are trying new things. Sorry your friends baled on you though.
Nice recovery from your trip @tarun_yadavA . Enjoy the game.

71.41/80 mile goal
Well, I didn't get my runs updated last night. Instead, I was on the phone with a friend for over an hour. Priorities.
On Wednesday I played doubles tennis for about 1.5 hours. It was hot and one of the ladies in particular was not handling it well, so we stopped after two sets. I went to work at daycare after and did a mile on the treadmill when I got home before heading out for church.
Thursday I worked at daycare and ran an errand for my neighbor with the hurt back. After I got home, I did my planned run with a little modification, on the treadmill. I ran/walked 2.75 miles at an average pace of 11:54 min/mile. I was happy with that. I walked a little extra, just to get some miles in. Fingers crossed for making my goal for the month.
I got blood work yesterday morning for my annual doctor's appointment next week. After, I got breakfast from Hardee's and then went to work until 4:30. I was tired and hungry, so opted to eat at 5 and then did a wun while I watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. I ran at 4.5 mph during the commercials. Wound up with 3.50 miles at an average pace of 14:49 min/mile.
So, I'm getting my runs in, but treadmill sessions don't lend to much exciting happening. LOL5 -
@chris_in_cal stomach issues are no joke, especially for running. That's a definite no-go for me. You made the right call.
11 miles this morning. Even tho it was hotter today, the run felt better than last weekend. Pace was much better too. There are so many factors that make a run feel good or bad it's hard to say what the difference was.
Well that completes month 7 of RTY. Only 5 more to go 😁

I won't run through an upset stomach. Just the idea of bouncing my upset stomach around makes me feel like I'm going to hurl. Almost anything else is fine. In fact, I'll feel better while running with a cold because I can actually breath!! I hope you feel better. I'm voting for minor setback. We'll see you out there again soon.
@Scott6255 You are doing so well with RTY! Hanging in there through the tough months. Keep it up!3 -

I had to work this morning so I did a short run beforehand. I laid in bed for 5 minutes after my alarm went off trying to decide if I was getting up, doing it on the treadmill later (who am I kidding? that wouldn't have happened), or just adding to my run tomorrow (seriously considered this because I'm so close to my goal). Ultimately I decided that I was already awake. Just get up and do something. So I did. Was it fun? Not particularly. Am I glad I did it anyway? Yep. Now I can relax when I get home and a 7 mile run tomorrow sounds better than 10 miles right now!
I made a new recipe last night for dessert and it's amazing! Ginger Peach Blackberry Cobbler from half-baked harvest. Of course topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. And because it's fruit, it totally counts as breakfast and I had it again, complete with the ice cream, after my run this morning. I cobblers! I grew up eating them and they still hold a fond place in my heart.6 -

I ran 3.12 miles yesterday morning. I altered my route to avoid the dog. Since this was a streak day and not a regular run day I ran a shorter run after yoga, so it wasn't dark.
Today I didn't get out until about 9:00 am, so I just ran 1.5 miles for the streak. It was way too hot already. Hopefully that will encourage me to get up earlier tomorrow for my long run.
@chris_in_cal There is making excuses not to exercise, and there is taking care of yourself. I think you made the right call. Stomach issues are not just excuses. Just get back out there and don't feel guilty for taking an unplanned rest day.
@quilteryoyo I love tomatoes. We had a pretty good harvest this year, but ours are definitely finished.
@themrwobbly I totally had to Google "brolly". Not only do we not call them that in Texas, but unfortunately we rarely get to use them.
@martaindale That cobbler sounds awesome. I don't think you are allowed to eat cobbler without ice cream.

Ok, I get it that the stomach can make running miserable. I have IBS and I have to be careful. As long as I do not expect some explosive memories, I am still out there.
That being said, both running partners bailed on me and I took off before sunrise. At 9 miles, I had to make a 'go' or 'no go' decision. The next 5 miles were tree tunnels and no ways out of there. The country called my name and 26.8 miles later, in the 1000 degree heat and humidity I made it home.
GU gel @12.66 miles, started sips of water
Drank all 4 bottles of water by the end.
Did meet this hunk on my route:7 -

@chris_in_cal We all have times where running just doesn't happen. Tummy troubles are a legit reason to cancel a run though!
@martaindale that cobbler sounds delicious!
I'm over here stuffed from last night's sibling reunion (there are 4 of us, and we haven't all been together since 11 years ago) - pizza and birthday cake - and food from my grandfather's wedding today. It was a small gathering, but nice to see people, food was good, and there was no major drama 😁
I had a good talk with a friend Friday while our kids were at the community Vacation Bible School (which featured livestock petting, because we're in farm country), and later she messaged me out of the blue and told me she had an extra car that I could drive while I'm here, and they'd bring it to me in the morning. I hadn't even told her it was a need I had - I was planning to rent a car starting Monday.10 -
Morning all.
Got another 6K in.
@quilteryoyo - as always! Thank you! 😊
@SummerSkier - well done on your pacier run!
@martaindale - dessert sounds nice! Pics! ... Or it didn't happen lol
@polskagirl01 glad family wedding went well7 -
I'm sort of in the same boat @chris_in_cal ! We can do it.
@polskagirl01 Glad you got to see all of your siblings at once and the wedding went off with no major drama. Special occasions call for getting stuffed. LOL So nice of your friend to loan you the car!
Another nice run @tarun_yadavA !

74.25/80 mile goal
Mom and I went shopping yesterday morning. We had to get my great niece a birthday present for her party this afternoon. Nothing like waiting til the last minute. LOL
I was short on time for my run (after I got up from trying to nap), so cut it short. I did an odd distance to make my month total not odd. I walked a total of 1.25 miles for warm up and cool down and ran 1.59 miles. I did a run/walk. I lost track of the minutes, but I ran at 5.5 and 5.0 mph, walked at 3.8. Think I only walked 3 minutes - maybe 4. The avg pace was 11:39 min/mile. Avg HR was 143 with a max of 157 bpm.
My mom, neighbor, and I went to a local baseball game last night...well, we went. It came a horrible storm and they wound up cancelling the game. It was the last home game of the season, so I will have to exchange the tickets for a game next year. We still had fun, ate all the stadium food, and watched the fireworks they had once it got dark enough.

I wanted to get up early this morning to beat the heat, but I just couldn't drag myself out of bed. I did manage to get out at 7:40, so it wasn't terribly late. And it was pretty pleasant at 77°F at the start of the run. I was able to find plenty of shade. There weren't many people watering though. I was only able to run through one sprinkler. I ran 10 miles. It was a pretty good run, but the last 2 or 3 miles were tough. When I got home it was 90°F so I guess that was why.

July 30: Walk 2.50 miles - treadmill
76.75/80 mile goal
I did my walk today after we got home from the birthday party and seeing my cousin who is in the hospital (a younger one - not the one in assisted living). He has cancer and fell and broke his hip Friday. I didn't sleep much last night and was full of pizza, so went down for a 2.50 treadmill walk. My avg HR was 96 with a max of 104 bpm. I am only 3.25 miles away from 80, so that should be doable tomorrow.

My activity for the day was moving boxes. I kept getting the strong smell of something dead in the woods near my shed (allegedly a groundhog), and apparently I wasn't the only one and interrupted a big vulture trying to get a meal. He sat in a tree and would not stop staring at me. I yelled at him to enjoy his meal, to "just go eat it, I am not bothering you", etc., but he just kept staring. Started creeping me out! But when I started a fire on the burn pile with a few boxes of trash (mostly papers, cardboard, and an old stinky mattress that was fascinating to watch burn in slow-motion - must have been flame resistant)... the vulture apparently didn't like that and finally flew off. The rain held off until I was done, had mostly extinguished the fire and was packing up my stuff to go back to the house.
Today I also watched a squirrel and a beautiful male cardinal fighting over a bird feeder. It seemed the squirrel won that round. But both have been hanging around (and the female cardinal and a few other regular birds too) so I'm sure it's an ongoing battle. I'm rooting for the cardinal.10 -
Beautiful cool evening. SeaWorld was all lit up like Christmas, there was nearly a full moon over the water, and the sunset sky was purple and orange.
