It only made it to 53.3Β°C yesterday (128β)
It's supposed to cool into the low 50s Β°C, the rest of the week.
ππππ
In all fairness, this was the high in Death Valley. The rest of California is baking too (highs over 100 in many places) but certainly not that high.2 -
Holy hell @chris_in_cal!! 130F is literal hell π₯π₯ Hope everyone out there in the west are doing OK
A hat, a dab of sunscreen, we'll be fine. Just gotta stay hydrated.

I was about to complain about the 43C in the shade where I was yesterday, but I'll just shut up! Lol
@polskagirl01 hahaha I remember you telling me about those roots.7 -

*pokes head into thread* Not allowed to run yet, about 5 weeks after second surgery. But I've started walking a little 3km round every evening now to get at least a tiny bit of stamina back. Should be able to slowly run again next month12

Morning everyone!
How's everyone? Hope not dying in the Heat... Guess me with my cloudy, 23-25C London temperature doing alright over here lol
Got in a 4.5 (08"58).8 -
Heat, what heat? π€£ππ
Played tennis in 103 yesterday. Only lasted 45 min with 2 breaks tho. I could just feel that it was too hard at times. My fitbit bounced over 200 hr on my walk home altho my Apple watch never broke 160. tech. gotta love it.
I think I set my goal for 100 this month so on track about halfway thru the month now.

I was about Β½ mile from the car this morning when it started thundering. As soon as I got to the car and opened the door, it started sprinkling rain. Perfect timing!
Sounds like youβre recovering well @yirara! Good to βseeβ you!
I donβt know how you all are doing anything outside in those 100+ temperatures!

Hi everyone! I got in 8.3km this morning. It wasnβt an eventful or even particularly hot run. Iβm sorry for those of you having to run in extreme heat. I guess I will be joining you in a couple of days .
So far for July I have 91.1km/150 km.
@shanaber I also heard that Yosemite is really crowded this year. We will be staying inside the park, so we are planning on only entering once. So if we have to wait for hours at least it will only be one time . If itβs too crowded in the touristy spots weβll probably avoid the valley.

I didn't realize I hadn't checked in with the forum in 3 days! I'm mostly liking and hugging as appropriate. You are all doing great with your running! I have been able to get in at least a mile walk everyday on vacation. I was planning to post some while I was gone, but haven't managed. I'm on my way back - in Walterboro SC again tonight. I should be home tomorrow afternoon. I do hope to catch you up on my running and vacation in the next couple of days, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were your.
Good luck on the 5K in the morning @tarun_yadavA !
@Teresa502 You did great getting your runs in over the weekend. Glad you enjoyed your family reunion. That is a lot of green bean to work up. They are so much work, but sooooo good.
@chris_in_cal Those temperatures are unbelievable!
Glad you are recovering @yirara ! You are doing great with the walks.
You're doing great @SummerSkier ! Tennis in those temps is hard. Glad you listen to your body and don't overdo.
Glad you missed the storm @Teresa502 !
Yeah for the sprinkler record @Scott6255 !

@quilteryoyo hope you had a great vacation!
It's not hot in Pennsylvania. Just about perfect, really. I did turn on the air conditioner twice over the past few days though, just for a bit at night. The first night was when I was home alone, and actually couldn't sleep because my brain was telling me that the AC unit has been sitting unused for so long, it's surely blowing out more allergens than my air purifier can keep up with, and surely was about to also catch fire at any minute. I have no explanation for my brain, but there was no shutting it up. I gave up and turned it off, and then was able to fall asleep. The second time I used it, my brain was totally fine with it and I left it on until I woke up cold in the middle of the night.
Stay cool, everyone! π
Health, stress, drama, etc:I've been laying around in various locations, and have decided to end this round of the "nicotine patch for long covid" experiment tomorrow morning. That makes 8 days, which is enough by many of the proponents of the theory. It didn't knock me out like this in April, so I'm curious as to how that will affect the results this time. Will have to see how this next week goes.
I don't remember how much I shared, but one major stress point here has been somewhat better lately. It won't go away until we go back to Poland, but I feel there's more family support behind me so I'm not standing against it alone, if that makes sense.
There's also the family drama of my 89-year-old grandfather getting married in a few weeks (less than a year after my grandmother's passing, although she was not herself for years before, and he was faithful and cared for her through so many difficulties). The drama is more with how everyone else is reacting in their own ways, some supportive and some downright angry. I get it - they're still grieving, and it was a surprise and potentially messy with inheritances, etc. I'm stuck in the middle, in the "what a funny turn of events, not what I expected, but it's totally his life and I want him to be happy, y'all need to work things out and get along" camp π.
Yesterday I did spend some more time upright, sitting at my sewing machine that I dug out of storage. I took apart an old swimsuit top and made a new one, and I really like it. Then the new swimsuit I forgot I ordered arrived in the mail π.
I've heard about some races going on in the area, think I'll just pretend they aren't even happening π. My mantra lately has been to be "like a duck" - the water just falls off, nothing bothersome needs to stick to me.π¦
I also got an update on my Squash Army, which has endured an attack by something eating the leaves, and had about half of its members go AWOL for unknown reasons, but the remaining troops are steadily growing in strength.I think I spy a few small beginnings of flowers, but I'm not sure.8 -
Good morning everyone! Squeezed in 7km this morning. I felt like bailing and not going out, but I am so glad I did. My legs finally felt a bit strong and not so tired and heavy and there was a cool refreshing breeze this morning. I never have regretted a run, although some are significantly more difficult than others . I just need to remind myself that before setting off sometimes. Now Iβm ready to tackle the day!
98.1/150km for July!7 -
I gave the running a break for a few days to give the aching muscles a rest but used the bike instead and it seemed to work. Enjoyed the run yesterday evening and first time this summer getting swarmed by flies so I have insect repellant on the shopping list. I used my new adrenalines 22 and they felt good. I'd read something about them changing so I was weary they would hurt but no problem. If anything they feel firmer like what they used to.
No heatwave issues here, more chance of flooding with really heavy downpours.

I didn't post my run yesterday, but I did run 5.5 miles. I went to bed late and didn't want to get up, so I got out a little later than I needed to. It was hot at 85Β°F, but the humidity was just 37% and the dew point was 55Β° so it wasn't as miserable as I expected. We hit 110Β° yesterday so it was the coolest part if the day. I felt good about the run and had negative splits.
Today's run was about the same. I stayed up too late again and didn't want to get up this morning, but I did and I ran 5.25 miles. It was 82Β° F today with 43% humidity and a dew point if 57Β° so hot but not miserable. And I got negative splits again. I think we hit 108Β° today. It's almost 7:00pm and it is still 107Β°.
It's so hot that even the squirrel who comes to steal the dog food and the bird seed was trying to find some relief from the heat.
