@chris_in_cal - We have been going to Parker's for years and have never been disappointed there.
Maybe tomorrow if you can get out of your chair, a nice easy swim would be good for those sore muscles. It is also considered resistance training even though it doesn't feel like it, because of the water resistance.6 -

I met a friend for 5 miles this morning. There was one sprinkler on our route so we ran through it three times! @shanaber β Watching BBT is part of my night-time wind-down ritual. Some of the episodes Iβve seen a few times but I still laugh out loud at them. At first I resisted watching Young Sheldon but now I love it also. Sorry that you are still hurting some but so impressed that you are still getting out with Mr. Hobbes. Thanks for the link to your friendβs race recap β Iβm going to read it later today.
Way to go @chris_in_cal for the doing that resistance training! Our running is great for the heart muscle but itβs important we work the other ones also. Especially as we get older.

8 miles this morning. Garmin gave me a 1% execution score...for an Easy Run! Whatever...

Great run yesterday @Scott6255 ! Very speedy intervals! Garmin can be so snarky.
Great running @tarun_yadavA !
Hahaha @chris_in_cal ! I think I could join that group. Great workout. Love that you and your friends have a fitness pact.
Nice running @Teresa502 ! Great total miles for the month so far. I love the sprinkler picture!
hahaha @AlphaHowls ! Beautiful picture.
@Laurz9191 You are doing great with your vacation runs! Enjoy the aquarium today.
Glad you were able to get out for a nice walk @shanaber . I'm sure Hobbes is enjoying the activity with you. Sorry you were hurting though.

Closing in on my 100 mile goal for the month. 6 days to go everyone!
Esp proud of today's run as I picked up the pace. I did this by playing my 180 bpm song (I am so excited) and sprinting for 100 steps every qtr mile. Usually after I play tennis the night before or I don't get a good night's sleep I am totally wiped for a run the next morning but I got out there and it was not too bad.
I have decided to EMBRACE the summer. Trying to think of all the positives. I know that it is SO much nicer to be able to wear less clothes and just walk out the door. No gloves or jackets or hand warmers and hats etc...
and I honestly kind of enjoy when I am dripping with perspiration because it feels like I got a good workout in.
and it is lighter out with less traffic because of no school which makes it less dangerous then winter running and having to light myself up like a christmas tree.
Other positives to summertime running?

@shanaber Just read your friend's race recap and WOW! Ultra runners a different breed but hardrock 100 is such a crazy event. The elevation and sketchy trail would turn me off immediately. It's amazing that she finished and seemed to be in pretty good shape. Congrats to her!!3

I had a later start this morning and, whew, it was rough! I am on call this week and was the backup person today so couldn't leave the house until I was pretty sure I wouldn't be needed. That meant I didn't get started until 7:30 and needed to be home for a 9:00 meeting. Didn't leave much time. I ran a loop I use pretty frequently. Hit a sprinkler about mile 2. The sun was out in full force and it got hot fast. I'm glad I remembered to freeze my hydration pack and my salt tabs.
Luckily I don't have a ton of things to do today so I can recover in the air conditioning!6 -
Just checking in. I'm watching a pair of cardinals in a tree. Very pretty.
@quilteryoyo great vacation pictures!
@AlphaHowls I love your streaks!
Felt "kinda OK" today and did a little more work in the back room. Found so much stupid stuff...The mouse pad with ex-boyfriend's face on it went into the trash πWhy do I have this stuff? π€£π€£π€£
I'm going to see if one of my church children's worker friends wants the giant cardboard giraffe (then toss it if not).
I'm keeping the tennis racket. It's like an old friend.9 -
You are doing great @SummerSkier ! Love the positives about summer running. I don't have this at my house, but how about getting to run through sprinklers like you did when you were a kid and no one thinks your weird.
Great running @martaindale and great that you were able to fit it it before your meeting...and got to run in a sprinkler.
I keep a lot of stuff I probably shouldn't either @polskagirl01 . I still have my wooden Wilson tennis racquet from back in the day, and the frame to keep it straight. Glad you liked the photos.5 -

I didn't post yesterday because I was gone almost all day and didn't get home until after 9pm. I played singles tennis in the morning with a friend from WVA who is in for a few days. She mostly plays Pickleball now, so her tennis was rusty and did affect her swing - finding the ball with a longer racquet. Her net game is a ton better than it used to be though. We decided if you could do both on a regular basis, it might be beneficial to both, but playing only Pickleball does mess with your tennis game when you go back to it.
I only had about and hour at home before I needed to leave again, so did a quick mile on the treadmill to keep up the streak. I walked 0.3 miles, ran 0.4 miles at 4.5 mph, then walked 0.3 miles. The rest of the day was spent having lunch with family - some who were in town for only the day, going to the funeral home for visitation for a friend's mother, and then out to dinner with the friend I had played tennis with earlier.
I had some minor tummy issues this morning - I wonder why? : I modified my plan a bit and did a run/walk of 3 x (5.5/5.0/3.8 mph for 2/1/1 min), 2 x (5.0/5.5/5.0/3.8 mph for 1/1/1/1 min), 5.0/5.5/5.0 for 1/1/2:21 min. Total of 2 miles in 24:21 min. Avg HR was 132 with a max of 151bpm.
I cooled and then went down to mow mom's lawn. The neighbor that normally helps is down in his back, so mom and I did it all today. Mom did what push mowing she could and I did the rest of the push mowing, the riding mower, and weed eat. The part that wasn't riding was 59:45 min and 0.52 miles. It was hot, but fortunately there was a little bit of a breeze that helped some. Still, I had to take a couple of breaks to keep from overheating.7 -

I am posting 2 runs today. Yesterday I ran 2 miles for my streak. It was hot, but I waited until it was light outside so it was a nice run.
Today I ran 6 miles. It was slow, especially at the beginning, but after a couple of miles I kind of got into a nice rhythm. I was able to run through the sprinklers at the courthouse. And I almost had negative splits. Mile 6 was 2 seconds slower than mile 5, but I still finished faster than I started.
I didn't see the dog yesterday, and today he was in his yard, so hopefully they got the issue taken care of.
Love the sprinkler @Teresa502 !

An uneventful 5 miles this morning. Running streak is great for a high mileage month. Iβm already at my highest monthly total for 2023 and there are still five days to go.

Not quite to 100 yet... Oh oh on the belt buckle....
Today's tip: use a shoe horn. Some of my shoes are harder than others to get into. I noticed I was twisting my back/knee/hip a lot trying to contort into them. Got a shoe horn. Problem solved. They fit fine but getting into some of the styles is awful no matter how you loosen the laces.6 -

I feel like I say the same thing in all of my posts. "I ran X miles. It was hot." π But I did run 6 miles today, and it was hot, again. The run started out pretty tough, but ended up being nice. I got out a little later than yesterday, so I missed the sprinklers at the courthouse. But I did find one sprinkler about a mile later. The mean dog down the road was in his fenced yard, and he barked at me, but he wasn't loose. I saw a deer and a great blue heron. There was one dog out in his front yard, but he didn't leave the yard and his lady was outside and she waved at me and hollered "good morning". I saw some people I know who waved at me. So even though the run started out feeling blah, by the time I got home I was feeling pretty happy.

Got out earlier today. It was basically the same weather but an hour earlier start makes a big difference in how it feels. That hour means tons more shade. And quite a few more sprinklers!9 -
Tired this morning after a late night outdoor concert, so didn't get out this morning. So 6.2 TM miles after work.
