57, very married female looking for community to help me lose 40 pounds. I’m discouraged that I’ve gotten to this point and need some encouragement! I’ve done it before so I know I can do it! I know what and how to do it, just need accountability to help me stay consistent and motivated! CW: 164 GW 125
I’m not new to MFP as far as diary and tracking macros, but definitely new to the “community” aspect of this app. Any help with navigating this side of things is also appreciated 😊. TY

Hi! I'm 58, also married and female! I am back to MFP for the third (?) time. This time I have the most weight to lose. My high was 175 but I'm down to 158. I only want to get to about 145 and I like the slow and steady approach! I come on every day so if you want to connect, feel free to send me a friend request!

🤚 also a very married female! I am on my 2nd go at MFP. 11 years ago I dropped from 182 lbs to 125lbs with the aid of this app. I’m back at my high weight again and hoping I can do it again 😊11

Hi! I am a female and (almost-september 23) married! This is my third time back to MFP. Years ago I dropped from 200 down to 153, but I am back to 197 and I am feeling uncomfortable more than anything. Hoping to find the motivation to stay on track and be held accountable.9

Hello! Feel free to add me - almost 50 - married female. Looking for some accountability peeps as well. I lost 20 lbs years ago and looking to get back on track with my food and exercise.7

@23Bougie Same here, my weight is 166 and I have been trying to stay on track to meet my goal weight of 135, but I’ll take 140. I too know what to do but for some reason I start off great and then I fall off the wagon. I want to blame post menopause but there is a point where I have to take accountability. One think I noticed is I just haven been as active as I have been. Anyone feel free to add me so we can support each other.7

🪞/ 📸 OMG! That moment when you realize that you have gained pretty much all the weight you lost 😞 Yeah! That was my moment a couple weeks ago. First week was just super depressed! But now I’m ready to put in the work and take the wheel of my life and drive it with a purpose. Being healthy is super important to me but I got side tracked and lost my way. I need to lose 30* lbs and my goal would be to do it by January 2023. I know weight loss is not always linear and there will be ups and downs along the way but I’m hoping some community support will be that factor in the hard times to keep going! 👏🏼 I’m proud of all of us for being here and sharing our goals!!!14

Yay! Thank you all for your responses. I will try to figure out how to add you all as friends! We can do this (again!). I need and want to get back to my healthier self! I have been in a bad slump! My confidence has been low as well as energy which is all directly related to how I’m eating and exercising. I know how good it feels to be proud of myself for taking charge so here I go!! I’ve never really paid attention to my newsfeed, but look forward to this added encouraging motivation!5

@23Bougie I'm so glad to have come across your post. I'm in a similar boat and want to be healthy again and lose all the weight I gained back after losing so much (have about 40lbs to lose). I haven't taken advantage of the community aspect of this site either so I'm looking forward to trying that. I need to start swimming and walking again, would love to be back on my bike in a couple months too. I have to figure out how to add friends too so lmk after you figure it out.3

Went to the grocery store today and got a bunch of healthy stuff for the upcoming week. I'm doing the calorie deficit thing (shooting for 1200/day) so I got sushi (store here has $5 sushi roll Fridays and makes it fresh onsite), garden salad fixings, avocados were on sale, bananas, cheese and eggs. If I don't see any weight loss after a week I'll go on keto where I've had success previously. I love me some good coffee so I got that too and some quality cream for it. Looking forward to a yummy start to the day tomorrow.
I walked there and back so I'll count that for exercise especially since it was pretty heavy on the way back. I'll go for longer walks starting tomorrow. My biggest problem is heading out for a walk even though I love it once I get out the door. Luckily there's a great dog park nearby and it's so fun seeing them all running around having a blast that it always makes me smile. Owners are great too and the conversations are always fun.
Let me know how you guys are doing for some motivation, thanks! (hopefully we all keep posting here, new to this aspect of mfp so i'm not sure of the process)3 -
Married 40year old with lots to lose looking for motivation and to motivate others. I will send friend request.5

Glad to be making some friends on here! I’ve been getting my diet back on track this week, adding back in some walks and will add the gym back in next week. I do not have the app track my exercise/cals out, I just aim for 1,200 - 1,400 cals with high protein a day… I track my steps and workout on my Apple Watch and oura….
I hope everyone has a good weekend! Stay strong and stay healthy!4 -
Added a tsp of apple cider vinegar to my water jug today. I always forget how much good it does so I put it right next to where I fill up my water bottle so I won't forget.
I didn't go for a walk unfortunately but I have been cleaning all day while I listen to an audiobook and music. Does anyone have music to suggest to get one going? I'm happy because in the past 3 days I've lost 3 lbs even if it's just water weight or clearing out the pipes lol. Looks like I need a lot more fiber and water in my diet which makes total sense: gotta keep the plumbing clear. Next time I'm at the store I'll grab a lot more broccoli. Luckily I love it, can't believe others don't. Steamed is my favorite way to cook it.
Hope y'all are doing well and making progress! Let us know how you're doing, it helps so much. I don't want to fail again.2 -
Kinda down on myself for not going for a walk or doing any real exercise. Hopefully I can change that tomorrow. Still doing well with my caloric intake so I'm not gonna worry too much. I do better with not keeping anything in the flat that I'll munch down on so I'll keep doing that til I make a dent in my weight loss goal.3

I’m also easing back into it. Getting my food on track and habitual is the key for me. I have lots of spinal/hip/tailbone aches and pains which can be debilitating at times. I do lots of PT and know it’s all helped with a stronger core and taking excess weight off. I try not to too hard in myself when I have lower activity days as long as my food is on track.
I too am losing water weight right now, but I’ll take every little win! 🏆5 -
Hello, I'm a 59 year old , very married (42 years) female. Needing to lose 45 pounds. I have also done this before. 10 years ago I had great success on here with a couple of new friends I met. But for some reason I just stopped. I gained it all back and have started over here a couple of times but just couldn't get motivated. Now I'm having some concerns about my health and know I need to make a change and stay with it. I would love to have some friends along for the journey.7

Hi - I’m in my 60s, happily married looking to lose about 40 pounds (yes, yet again). I lose and gain and lose and…. well, you know the routine. Trying MFP this time around after trying other approaches in the past. Would enjoy seeing this group of people who have commented so far continue to support each other!! 😀😀. I know I could use the support! Thanks.
BTW, how do we friend each other? Or do we just keep posting and visiting this thread? I’m totally new to this community stuff.4 -
Am I too late to join? 51, 183lbs was 125 for a couple of years but slowly crept back to what seems to be my mental set weight. 183. It’s strange that is the exact weight I was when I went into Nutrisystem as a teenager and stepped on their scale.2

Hi all! I’m so glad to see so many people jumping into this discussion. (I will friend you Trish)
Does anyone know how to create our own group or challenge or whatever? Like a Facebook group via this app??
Anyway, today was a pretty good day. I did make it to the gym to stretch, lift a little and walk on the treadmill. I’m nursing a sore back so I’m taking it easy. My food was on track too so small wins today that I’ll gladly take. I’ve started logging my water (when I remember) which always helps me drink more. I love in HOT Vegas so you’d think I’d drink more…
Goodnight all!1 -
@23Bougie Thank you for posting about this topic.
I gained 15 pounds from being on medical leave at one point it messed with me mentally. As well I am a proud food addiction survivor. Although situations that I just experienced were I broke my 2 yearns of not having any red light foods . I will be starting my working towards my 3 days of being clean all over again. I also love the idea of accountability! I’m definitely all about accountability.2 -
Started taking daily vitamins again: multi, calcium, magnesium&fish oil. I'm still around 1200 calories/day and started drinking more water so that's good. Still need to work on exercising.1
-
Also 57. Have gained back much of the 63 pounds I initially lost years ago. And now (thank you, Aging) I’m having health problems. So I’m back and determined to lose weight again. But it’s harder this time for…reasons. Hormonal changes. Full time desk job, etc. … Glad you posted. I welcome MFP friends and could use some “You go Girl!” energy.6

@23Bougie Thank you for commenting and all of the other comments too. I'm 59 and back at it again to lose 30 lbs. I need like minded people too on this journey. I've used MFP in the past but not the community. I don't use FB or other social media so this is a great communication tool for me. I can't keep using Covid and menopause as my out for weight gain. I'd like to be friends on here with everyone as well.4

Hi all, I'm a repeat user, too many times to count. I'm almost 50, married 27 years, and have over 50 pounds to lose. I've never lost any significant weight before, just lose and regain the same 20 pounds. I think menopause is really messing with my efforts, as regardless of what I'm doing, i continue to gain in areas I never had issue with. Most days i want to give up, but i keep telling myself i am worth it, and can do it. I'm trying to trick myself into success by setting many small goals that have nothing to do with weight in hopes that it actually has to do with weight! LOL like 3 x 10 minute walks per day, drink more water, get 8hrs sleep...maybe it'll work. I am aiming for consistency. If I can help support or encourage anyone on here, please feel free to add me and perhaps we can do this together. Good luck everyone, keep crushing those goals!5
-
I just LOVE that people are joining in to this discussion! So many of us with menopause weight gain struggles! I hear you!!!
Consistency with food while adding in the exercise and sleep are common issues! Let’s keep cheering each other along!
I had a good day today and hope everyone else is doing well! 😊3 -
Haven't done any exercise since this original post other than cleaning one day. Feeling down on myself a bit but also glad I've stayed within my 1200/day calorie limit. Hopefully that keeps me from gaining and might even help me to lose. I'm gonna try to keep strictly to the calorie in/calorie out weight loss tactic even if it's keto.3

Hi! I too am mid 50's, and a VMF. Back to MFP again after a battle with cancer that threw any kind of sensible eating out the window every other week. I was in remission for 2 years before it came back last year. I've been watching the scale creep up and need to lose about 12 pounds. Would love to have you as a friend and anyone else who responded to help keep us all accountable on our journey!6
-
I got my workout in today. I did Body Beast Legs Build video. I had a fractured left ankle in mid-May and it healed nicely. I've been going to physical therapy 1/week since the end of June for plantar fasciitis. It has really helped. I'm not in pain anymore. So glad for that. One day at at time is what I keep telling myself. Hope everyone has had a good day so far!3
-
So I bought a pretty journal and have set up a little habit tracker for the month of September. Things like get 8 hours of sleep, drink 120 Oz water a day, track every meal in MFP, do 3 10 minute walks per day. Also threw in some things like read 25 pages of a book....hoping that I can be consistent at these very small goals until they become habits. I am hoping to reward my self for consistency vs rewarding for weight loss...I hope that by tackling my journey in a different way ,it will finally work. Hope everyone is having a good day!3
-
I got back to the gym again! Checking in a little early…. Will finish my food log in a bit. Hope everyone has had a great day!2
-
Do we want to do a weekly weight check in here? I’ve had a few messages from people who might like that….2
