@Laurz9191 One of the worst things about slugs is when you accidentally step on one. Then they like to spread out all across the sidewalk/road so it's almost unavoidable.quilteryoyo wrote: »@polskagirl01 Would drunk slugs hurt the hedgehogs? That might be the solution of how to dispose of the slugs. We'll have to have pictures of that birthday cake!

I might've been looking at watches online yesterday. Not really liking the prices at the moment though. My old bright blue watch really is fine. I think I'll put off buying another one for now.8 -
@Zaxa2021 Glad your run was easier today.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA .
You did great @Laurz9191 .
You are so consistent @Teresa502 !
@polskagirl01 Interesting about the hedgehogs. I wouldn't want to harm them either. It sounds like everything is working and you are getting rid of them. I hope all of your efforts result in some squash at the end of the season. AND, now that you know, you can start setting out the traps earlier next year and have a bigger crop! Lovely hammock picture.

Holiday home mini hills run. Managed to stretch one direction to 1km and ran down twice and up twice. Well, run up.. today the best was 150m up before I had to walk again. And no, I also can't walk uphill, never was able to (never ending story... I'll send off some paperwork to a muscle clinic after my holiday to finally figure out what's going on) but anyway, got the good time by running down fast Next run will be 5km I guess. So I'll do the last km half down and up again.8 -
Sept total: 15.3/100 miles
9/2: 8 miles

Short pre-work run in the dark. It was 80F again before 6 am. I can't wait until these temps are in the rear view.6 -
Great running @yirara ! Hills are tough.
You're doing great @___Tams___ . Running for charity is a great incentive to keep it up.

September 5: Walk 1.14 miles - Ran 1.76 miles - driveway laps - D2W1 HM Plan - mowed mom's lawn
13.40/80 mile goal
I went out for the scheduled Foundation Run today. 5 min Zone 1, 15 min Zone 2, 5 min Zone 1. Walked when my HR got too high. That was a lot today. It was hot and humid and my legs didn't want to work, so I struggled and the HR showed it. But, I got it done. I did try the dreaded running math and missed it by a tenth, so total was 2.90 miles today instead of the intended 3.
Later in the day, when it was even hotter, we mowed mom's lawn. I mostly rode, but did push mow the hill that is too hard for mom to do. I almost got overheated and had to take a break afterward, before finishing the riding part. I'm thinking I probably didn't drink enough after my morning run.6 -

It may be September, but it is definitely still summer. It was 84°F feels like 89°and there was 16 mph winds. I did get out a little early and ran 7 miles. It was a good run. I haven't seen the mean dog lately, so I ran past his house and didn't see him so that was good. I was able to run through the sprinklers at the courthouse and also at the residence that is about halfway through my run. I saw a deer near the park and the cross country kids at the park. It looks like it is going to be another hot one tomorrow.

Another run where I can feel pace, not so much suffering through.

Morning all
Got in 6 1/2Miles (09"01).
Bumped into every man and his dog on my route today! All good!
@quilteryoyo as always - thanks for your kind words and encouragement 😊
@chris_in_cal great job on getting the runs in, upping pace and not feeling anything!
@__Tams__ welcome! 😊 look forward to seeing/hearing about your progress on here as you prepare for your fundraising run! 🙌
(This group is addictive and there's a lot of shoe p0rn and sweet-tooth p0rn on here lol )7 -
Great run @kgirlhart . I hope it cools off soon. Glad you didn't see the mean dog.
You're doing great @chris_in_cal .
Great running @tarun_yadavA ! I hope you didn't "literally" bump into people and their dogs. But, I bet it slowed you down a bit, to make sure you didn't get tripped up by the dogs and their leashes.2 -
Welcome @__Tams__
Like what I'm hearing from you @chris_in_cal
7 hot miles this morning. Just have to endure the heat the rest of the week, then supposed to get a break starting Sunday (and maybe a descent chance of RAIN) 😀

I'm rearranging the HM plan this week to fit my schedule. Today, I did tomorrows run...Speed Play, on the treadmill...5 min at 4.2mph, 5 min at 4.5 mph, 5 x (1/2 min at 6.0/38 mph), 5:37 min at 4.2 mph. This got me to 2.25 miles. Avg HR was 134 with a max of 156 mph.
I also walked a total of 1.10 miles for warm up and cool down. Making up for the miscalculated 0.1 mile yesterday.7 -
Great running @Scott6255 I hope the forecast is right and you get better weather next week.
@Teresa502 That would be helpful!3 -

Well, that was not a big success today. What happened? No idea... my right lower leg and top of foot cramped up from the beginning and things didn't improve. Walked 6km through this hilltop village this afternoon though, at the hottest time of the day. Maybe that played a role here. No idea. Another day, another hills run9 -
I got a few runs done so far this week. Our weather is really nice over the past few days in the 20–22c & light breezes. My little toe is still really sore so I’m still sticking to the flat. The bruising is gone but it’s twice the size of the other one. I’m starting to think something might be broke or fractured in the toe. I haven’t gone to doctor with it cos he will send me for an X-ray which means sitting & waiting for 10 hours or more to be sent home with a paracetamol & told to rest it.
01/09 3.27 miles
04/09 1.01 mile
05/09 3.51 miles

It was another hot one, but not quite as windy as yesterday. No sprinklers today. And no deer, but I did see a skunk. It was hot, but still a pretty nice run.
7 -
Sorry you had issues with your run @yirara . I hope it is just temporary and you are back to normal tomorrow.
@Mari33a Sorry your toe is still bothering you. I hope it starts to feeling better soon. Maybe ice it and see if that helps.
Yeah for a nice, hot run today @kgirlhart !

I'm no doctor but I believe the only known treatment for a broken toe, is to charge the patient a lot of money and tell them to go home and rest until you can walk again.

Well.
I got called for Jury Duty today.
I was assigned to a three week case.
Wasn't expecting that.7 -
Sept total: 19.2/100 miles
9/2: 8 miles
9/4: 4.3 miles
9/5: 3 miles
9/6: 3.9 miles
Couldn't drag myself outside to sweat in the predawn heat so I did a treadmill run instead. I always kind of dread the treadmill but then when it's over I appreciate it because I'm not dripping and it feels easier to recover.
I'm leaving town in the morning to go to Pennsylvania for the Bird-in-hand HM. The weather isn't looking awesome but it will still be a fun experience.9 -

@martaindale have fun in PA. At least it won't be so hot there. I wonder if they're getting pretty Fall leaves yet.
Cake is decorated. I think it looks perfectly acceptable as something made by someone who doesn't know what they're doing, and doesn't have the proper tools. Don't laugh at my lack of piping skills. I'm going to order some decorator tips though for next time, because the bag by itself didn't work very well.I bought the designs from a cake supply store. They are printed with edible ink on thin wafle paper (similar to communion wafers some churches use). They taste like nothing but look fun. Cake is maple flavored (some bakeries call that burnt sugar flavor). No planned "workout" today. Birthday party will be plenty of activity for the day.8 -
Morning all
Got in another 10K. Same route as yday... But Strava recorded it as c0.2 less... Think it might have lost signal/got confused amidst the skyscrapers! 🤷
@martaindale enjoy PA! And good luck for the Half
@polskagirl01 cake looks great... What's the filling??? Walk is through it all... Lol
@quilteryoyo as much as I hate those little rat-like yap yap mutts on long leashes when I'm running... 'every man and his dog' - must be a British English saying. Just means for something to be busy/popular. Eg, "every man and his dog turned up for the New year's Day sales"5 -
@tarun_yadavA the saying I grew up with is similar: "everyone and their mother"
@martaindale have fun and good luck on your HM in PA!
@chris_in_cal sorry for your 3 week sentence on jury duty. I've been lucky the last several times I've been called the lawyers settle the case the night before and I didn't even have to show up 😄5 -
@chris_in_cal We never expect those things. I hope it goes well and doesn't interfere with your running too much.
@martaindale Have a safe trip and enjoy the HM. Looking forward to the race report.
You did great @polskagirl01 ! I think your son will love it. Happy Birthday to him and enjoy the partying!
Great run @tarun_yadava ! I am learning so much from you. Thanks for the explanation. Was it busy today too? I don't think I would enjoy running in a crowd at all...first off, I sweat A LOT. Secondly, I always picture myself as a graceful "runner," but am pretty sure I look like I have never run before. Yes, @scott6255 . I was trying to remember what our saying was that was similar, but couldn't come up with it. Thanks for that.

September 4 – 9.01 miles (trail)

Woke to thunder and lightening this morning but I was able to get out between the storms (currently storming again now). Temp was 70F and 100% humidity at 5:00 am. I was a sweaty mess.
Sorry your toe is still swollen and sore @Mari33a. I don’t blame you for not going to a doctor. I doubt there is much they can do anyway besides tell you to tape it up.
Hope the case settles @chris_in_cal or that you at least get some short dismissal days in there.
I hope you have a great trip and fabulous HM @martaindale! You will love the weather change!
That cake looks fabulous @polskagirl01! You did great! I can’t believe the decorations are actually edible. Hope your son has a wonderful birthday. Is it today? My only sister would have turned 60 years old today (9/7). Unfortunately she died when she was 18 years old from a form of acute leukemia. She's forever 18 in my mind!

@Laurz9191 wrote: »@AlphaHowls Your pictures in Strava are great. They keep getting better and better in my opinion! It looks like from you used shoes that you run a lot on your heels. Mine always get worn out first by the toes .
When I was obese, I actually overpronated. It has gotten better since losing the weight. I also learned one leg is a fraction shorter, so it causes more wear on one side. As to why my shoes look "good", I am very particular about them. I only use them for running and the mile walk. They do not get in the yard, they immediately come off when I get home. Once retired, they become my go to work/appts. Once I feel the breakdown, they get moved to the yard.
I think two years ago, I worked an entire season to get up on my toes. I actually did wear the toes out, but I reverted back to heels. It takes conscious effort to get on my toes.
9/1 17.18 miles, 1950 days on the run, 1132 days HM+ Streak
9/2 18.31 miles, Running Partner A, County Line to Red Barn and back

9/5 18.22 miles, Gout attack, right outer heel, not bad
9/6 17.56 miles, last two Crazy Laps! Rain caught me @15 and had to strip quick before shakes started
9/7 17.53 miles, Running Partner A

@quilteryoyo learn from me?! Lol aww that's sweet.
If it's random English sayings and odd things eaten in neighbouring states like Alabama White Sauce - then I'm your guy! Haha
