22, used to eat whatever I wanted and keep some abs. Doctors put me on meds that I didn't need and ruined my metabolism, causing me to gain close to 45 pounds. I never really learned how to do any of this because I didn't need to. If anything people joked I needed to gain weight, but I feel it was too much.

What meds? If you were on a cortico steroid, you'll gain weight, but NOT 45lbs from it. That came from overeating and/or reduced physical movement.

Its possible the medications contributed to the weight gain, as well as changes in diet and activity levels. Either way, I am glad you are taking this step in your fitness journey! Do you have a plan in mind for how you want to lose the weight?0
