Today I decided to attempt a half marathon. I hadn’t done one since the actual marathon I ran in September and wanted to test out a hydration belt I just bought
Congratulations on your fitness.
I'm hardcore Princess and the Pea type of guy. I can't imagine I'd figure one of those out. I'm a bit inspired seeing you got it to work.1 -

It was really cold today at 27°F. That is way too cold for me. Luckily for me, I only needed 1 mile for my streak today. I did end up running 2 miles. The park is about half a mile from my house, so by the time I run there and loop around and run home I am usually pretty close to 2 miles. But I was glad I didn't need to be outside any longer. It wasn't windy though and the moon was really pretty, so it was good for a short run.

Getting closer to goal. Got light rain for most of this run. Then the moon came out for last 3/4 miles & was lovely. Each evening there are more houses putting up Christmas lights or trees in their windows. It seems really early but the colours are lovely to see. It’s mainly the homes with young kids or grandchildren.6 -
Dang @kgirlhart that is cold!! I've said it before; you are tougher than I am!
6.2 miles this evening. Perfect weather (54F / 5mph wind). Had a frustrating day at work, so I guess I took my anger out on the road. Got a 10K PR. But it felt good to get it out.
Hit 2003 miles for RTY. That is the year I started my current job, and a month later bought my truck (still driving it daily) 😁

haha @polskagirl01 . I'm glad you like the ice dunk. I don't think I could do that. Glad you are finally feeling better from the cold. Interesting that McDonalds has better food there. Sorry they got rid of the hashbrowns though. That makes no sense to me either.
@tarun_yadavA !
Great job on the HM @Laurz9191 ! I think a fox is a pretty animal.
@kgirlhart Congratulations on getting out in the cold to keep the streak going. I'm glad I have a treadmill for those cold days.
@Mari33a Great running. I bet running past lit up houses would be fun. Since I live in a rural area, I don't get to do that.
Congratulations on your 10K PR today @Scott6255 ! I hope work is better tomorrow.

I did a treadmill session today due to the cold weather. I did a run/walk of 3/2 minutes at paces from 4.2 to 5.0 mph/3.8 mph. Nothing exciting. I did watch the old "Match Game" on TV. They were so funny and pretty risqué. Some of that would not be allowed these days.5 -
A couple of months ago I paid my entrance fee for an April 14, 2024 Half Marathon. It's 20 weeks or 140 days from now. So, today I started a Jeff Galloway 20 week training plan. I'm not sure how it'll go, but he's the walk/run guy. I think this is an all running plan. Today was his benchmark day one run.
November Running Goal: 12 runs, 50 miles- Nov 24 - 1.00 mile

Me too @chris_in_cal! I've tried a couple of hydration belts and couldn't find one that worked for me. I ended up with a vest and I love it!3 -

I had to run after work today. It's so hard to get out the door after work. I had a tempo run on the schedule and I was having a hard time talking myself into it. But, I went and after the first mile I just started the workout. Ended up being pretty close pace wise. Target was 9:18/mi and I ended up at 9:17/mi, so I'm very happy with that and glad I just did the workout even though I wasn't in the mood.7 -
SummerSkier wrote: »Question of the day: What is everyone's FAVORITE type of apple. I used to be a Gala (well Bandit's anyway) person and when we were kids it was MacinTosh. My Mom always made baked apples with the tart Green ones. But these days if I eat any apples it is always Honeycrisp. Texture, taste. etc.. perfect! 😍
I went down the apple variety rabbit hole. Some Guy On The Internet™ said "SweeTango" are the best best best fancy apple.
In the market tonight I saw them on sale...so I bought a couple, full report to come.7 -
Morning all.
Got in 5Miles (at slightly quicker pace of 09"06).
Got a snotty email from someone at work. Looked at it mid run whilst moving. P!ss3d me off. So without thinking (or looking at Strava!) just accelerated - frustration I guess.
Good news though - knee feels ok 🤞🙏11 -
PS: @chris_in_cal how was the apple 🍏2

I've tried those. They're good but imo not the best.3 -

@chris_in_cal I didn't know Jeff had "all-running" plans. Good for you for finding a plan you feel you can stick to. You can do it. As you know by now, I love the run/walk plans. I just don't follow Jeff's schedule. He usually has too short of runs for my liking, but I do plan on a run/walk of 3/2 min for my race in Dec. Last year I managed that for 5 miles and then the next couple I ran/walked 2/3, and then whatever I could manage. LOL But, I made it.
@AlphaHowls !
Great run @martaindale ! The hardest ones are the ones where just getting out the door is tough.
@tarun_yadavA Sorry about the snotty e-mail. Great faster run though. I hope the work thing "works" itself out and you have a good day.

My cousin gave me some Stayman Winesap apples on Thanksgiving Day. I ate one today but I'm not a big fan of them. The apple flesh is on the soft side but the skin is a bit tough. Overall a good taste so I will probably eat a few more of them but I don't think I would buy them at the store if I had other choices.5

Anybody here have experience with a walking pad? I don’t want a full size treadmill, just something that’ll help me get a couple miles in at home as winter sets in for times when I don’t want to walk/run outside or go to the Y and use a treadmill. I’ve been looking online- and, as always, some good reviews and also some complaints on the walking pad models I’ve looked at.1

No experience whatsoever. I just do Crazy Laps! Even running/walking in place, use the stairs for my hills. For the 'in place' I do use a thicker carpet piece like you see cashiers use.4
