Regarding mobile phones at the table ...
When my husband and I are travelling, when we stop for lunch or whatever along the way, we're always on our phones ... despite the glares of a few other customers and whatnot.
We figure we've talked enough in the car ... it's time for a break when we're in the cafe.

Today’s gratitude: aspirin, YouTube.
This morning Joe hollered, “Barbara, come look at this!” The sky was bright orange and pink, almost as if there were a wildfire on the next ridge. Fortunately not. We often get brilliant sunsets, mostly when there’s wildfire smoke, but rarely brightly colored dawns. The pink spread all the way over to the ocean (north western) side of the house.
Kylia HR 180 while driving? Yikes!
Rebecca I’ve heard that the front loading, low water washing machines somehow get smelly, so instead of changing the design we’re sold laundry scents. I’m glad ours is a toploader.
Carol the lake view.
Rita “scrapple”
Beth ditto “liver mush” but I love a braunschweiger sandwich, go figure.
Lisa ditto “pickled herring in cream sauce”  Mama used to eat that every New Years for good luck.
Vicki yes, please, let your MD know about that way high resting heart rate, even though it’s infrequent. You know you should, right?

Good morning ladies!
Welcome Hope and Pamela!
I've been getting better at online clothes shopping. I do searches on Amazon, then use the filters for four stars and such. Then I read the reviews. I got my mom a beautiful Aran sweater. I just find it's more comfortable and there's more selection. I think Amazon searching helps with decision fatigue.
There's a Kohl's nearby but I swear their buyer loves drab colors. I do tend to wear my clothes for years, until they fall apart, so I don't buy a lot of new clothing. And sometimes I look at it and feel like it all looks cheap, because I always used
to shop the sale racks of the bargain stores. My wardrobe needs a refresh. Maybe when I lose twenty pounds.
So today I will visit Mom then go out to lunch at a seafood place. Then nap.
Have a great day, ladies!

Good Friday
Tracey and Lisa I love the crafts!
Barbara I love sunrises and sunsets.
Yesterday was a rough attitude day. 😕 I felt picked on ( so childish). Apparently they were "busy" Wednesday. They had 13 customers in 8.5 hrs! Really? I had twice that many after I was left pretty much solo yesterday. Whatever.....I struggled to concentrate as well. On the upside I got in 10k steps.
Apparently I need to get ready for bed at 9. This will get me around 7 hours of sleep.
Whine in spoilerI chose to walk outside yesterday morning. Was barefoot (preferred). DH comes out andcasks what i am doing. I told him walking. He said it was bad for me to be barefoot and i should put on shoes. Last time i checked ibwas almost 61and capable of still making decisions. SMH. It was 62F and i was walking on top of drive only. I have yet to find tennis shoes that fit me well, so prefer what God gave me whenever possible. That is the attitude i dealt with all day. This morning I was walking inside as it was still dark outside, he has to come in and "organize stuffs" basically getting in my path. He is worse than my dogs were with being a road block! He never comes in the house until he is ready for a shower.GRRR!Anyway, walk is done. Hopefully can get a couple more things done at work today.
I am thankful for you all!
Rita How did the sugar avoid go yesterday?
Time to get ready for work.

Good morning ladies-was out of town Wednesday evening through yesterday and didn't check in but have caught up on reading.
Allie-glad car deal is finished. Enjoy getting used to new ride.
Heather-sounds like trip with the ladies went fairly well-good job of self-monitoring.
Annie-the extra holes your dad makes can be patched (trust me, I know!). I think it is wonderful he so concerned with your mother's safety-it shows his love.
Kylia-I think there was something in the air yesterday-I got upset with colleague at meeting and did not react well to some of his normal ribbing-he didn't pick up on cues to drop it. Called afterwards and apologized. He reminded me we all have to give each other grace. I did feel better with apologizing for my reaction and explained some of the background (which he didn't know).
Smells- I am amazed at some of the things we are to use to block every natural smell we have. I find myself wondering what that does to the role of pheromones for us? I mean, picking up on different scents is part of our natural biology. I think we spend too much time trying to cover up. Like Machka-I like opening windows. I do like cleaning with pine based cleaner (I do like that smell). Much of the other stuff (including most colognes and perfumes) make me sneeze.
While off work today for Veteran's Day observance, I will be getting ahead on work stuff (mainly budget). DIL is scheduled for inducement next Friday if labor doesn't start sooner so I want to have some things in pretty good shape. Also need to open windows for good house cleaning before winter sets in, and need to trim back rose bushes. While it will be a busy three days, I will get movement, which I need.
I started a new and of curcumin tablets for inflammation (primarily arthritis in feet and hands). I also am trying a topical HempTumeric for feet. While it is not yet a week, there seems to be a difference. Will know better after a month. It is nice to have pain knocked back without standard pain killers.
Off to get my walk in to start my day-the sun is now up!
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio5 -
Welcome @laughindakini1 , @hmjack1561 Hope and @farley_pamela We're glad you're here! Drop into any conversation that interests you.
Kylia - You need some of Pip's footie shoes, best of both worlds, feeling barefoot but having soles under your tootsies.
Annie - Enjoy your seafood lunch. Corey and I were just talking last night about finding a place that does fish well. Making shrimp at home is easy and enjoyable, but he and I have never really gotten the hang of cooking fish. These days, we won't go out to a restaurant for anything we can cook at home for literally a tenth of the price, and in all honesty, the vast majority of what we make tastes better than the restaurants anyway. But fish is pretty much the only thing we won't cook, so if we're going to a restaurant, it will need to feature fish on the menu...
Vickie - Yes, tell your doc about the racing heartbeat--it could be intermittent AFib, and if so, they can get it back in rhythm if you're seen quickly enough.
Barbara AHMOD - I've had both, and you're right about the smell with the front-loading washers. Within six months, it started smelling like an old, soured mop head. Since then, I've gotten top loaders, and as long as you leave the lid open when not in use, they don't get that smell.
Tracey - Love the cookie jar! Corey and I don't do anything for Christmas unless the grandkids are around, which they aren't this year, but I still enjoy seeing what other folks are doing. Hope Rodger's doing well and no lingering results from that event.
More in a bit.
Love, Lisa4 -
I've been suffering from jet lag the last few days, but today I had enough energy to spend 3 hours in the warm sunshine pulling weeds. It was very satisfying.
Our yard is a jungle! Everything grew while we were away. Now I've tamed a little part of it.

Had a nice long debrief with G today. She is off to Singapore tomorrow to see her granddaughter. Packing stress. I gave her a good talking to about ironing. I haven't ironed for years. Her son has a housekeeper who can iron anything absolutely necessary. I told her she loves to make life complicated and difficult for herself. We both had a good laugh!
I'm recovering. Feeling pretty good. I need to think about our guests, but nothing is urgent. I did make one bed up this morning and hoovered the living room rug. I need to write down a food plan.
John is making his Christmas cake. I supervise when necessary. He soaked the dried fruit in brandy yesterday.

Yesterday afternoon while Jake was napping, I was trying to ride my exercise bike and knit while watching an old episode of "Grey's Anatomy" I had to keep getting up to see what Annie was doing. She was usually OK except for when she tried to chew the cord from the cuff to the blood pressure monitor. It was difficult until I got to the part on the show with the couple who had four year old triplet boys at home and were expecting quintuplet girls. It made me grateful that I had only one baby to keep track of.
I buy all my clothing and shoes online. I haven't been in a clothing store in years and don't miss it. I wear the same things all the time so it's easier for me to find what I want because I'm not looking for new styles in anything. Sometimes I have to send things back so it takes extra time but eventually I get what I want. Comfort is important to me. I don't look for styles. Also, I'm not going to a job any more.
Welcome to everyone who is new to this thread. Please keep coming back and join in whatever conversation appeals to you. It helps me to read this every morning to be reminded of the things that are important to me (health, fitness, community),

Kylia- maybe try Kiziks they are step in sneakers i have 3 pair and uber comfortable.1 -
Good morning from my chilly but sunny Friday morning in the Arkansas River Valley,
Today sees me wrapping and packaging up some small Christmas gifts to send out. I stopped at the post office on Wednesday to get some shipping boxes and got all the addresses I needed sent to me by text message from my sister, son and daughter. The to-be-mailed packages will go right in the car. I did pick up a couple small things for Corey that I need to wrap and re-hide. Not telling him I got him anything, so he can be annoyed on Christmas Day when I hand over a couple gifts.
Our gift to ourselves, of course, is the new sunroom he's building, which he hopes will be completed by Thanksgiving. I'm waiting on the delivery of the lumber today for the walls and roof, and then we'll have to order windows, a door, gutters, T-111 to sheathe the outside walls, and insulation, among other things. Eventually, we'll also need to buy the rattan furniture that we'll put in after it's complete.
Walmart just delivered, so we'll only need to pick up a few fresh fruits and veggies this weekend. The lumber delivery is just two stops away, so maybe I'll be able to get these packages out and off my mind this afternoon! Once I've begun, I want to be able to finish it...
Time to rescue the wrapping paper from Egg, who has decided it is something new to sit on:

Kylia I am with you on bare feet. Between my bunions and my crooked knee, nothing fits quite right. I have a pair of Brooks Ghost, really nice running shoes, but I kick my ankle when I wear them. There's a spot where I'm wearing through the upper. Just not quite right.
I realized this morning that I don't have black ankle boots anymore. I don't think I quite have the gumption to order shoes online. But I might look.
Annie in Delaware3 -
Tracey, the cookie jar is adorable! Hope your hubby is o.k. after the work incident.
Heather, so nice that you were able to enjoy time away with your longtime friends.
Off to get my flu shot this morning. It's been so nice here that most of our snow is gone. Doesn't seem like November as we are usually in a deep freeze with lots of snow. I will enjoy it for as long as it lasts.

Listening to a Roots of Wellness series with Krystal Carey and Sachin Pattel. Theme was how breathing affects our health. Improve your breath and improve your health. Some ideas I knew but needed reminders especially night breathing. I agree breathing properly can take you out of Flight and Fight mode which then can give your body a way to heal. Breathing in a healthy way can also help you lose weight and/or help you be calmer.2

Scrolling through the discussions I found this one that I can relate to. I’m 54 from Kentucky. I started my weight loss journey on August 18th the day after my dr told me I was headed to being type 2 diabetic if I didn’t change the path I was on. Since then, I’ve went from 208 to 180.6. My goal is 30 more pounds and then maybe more. I told someone the other day before I started this journey I couldn’t see my feet when standing straight. I can see them now! I can also bend over to tie my shoes without gasping for breath. It’s those little things that make me happy. 😊 Anywho, I could use some friends for support and encouragement. Add me if you like.9

Welcome, ginadacat, you have come to the right place for encouragement and support as you continue your journey. We support each other by posting on this thread, not by being "friends" on MFP. I hope you will keep coming back and share what you've done to be successful and ask questions. I found this thread when I was 62 and the veteran of a lifetime of failed attempts to lose weight and keep it off. I read this thread every day to get good ideas, reinforce the ones I have, and to build community and a sense of belonging. I log food and exercise every day and seek every opportunity to be active not just through formal exercise. I've lost 50 pounds and kept it off for years. I live in NW WA where the days are short and the temps are getting lower. I walk every morning no matter the weather, in the company of my dogs, or my friend, or my phone that has audio books and podcasts for listening.
Jake has an appointment with the dentist this morning so somehow my friend and I are going to dance and supervise the puppy at the same time.6 -
Ginny I am using the Curcumim/tumeric supplement but don’t find it works for me. Perhaps it will for you? My doctor did recommend it so I’m giving it a try.
Kylia Well my sugar avoidance yesterday was better, but still not as good as it could be. I have a bag of chocolate covered chocolate from Sam’s that I separated into servings. Well after about 5 bags, I gave myself acid indigestion and couldn’t fall asleep last night. I was kicking myself and wondering why I did that, knowing full well what would happen. Eating my emotions again. DH was drinking and not in a good mood.
Food I received my MisFits order this morning and got a lot of fruit: dried apricots (for potassium, more than bananas!), cantaloupe, apples, and oranges. I am going to use them in place of sugar, the bad kind. Hope it works.

I am so glad it is Friday. I am working alone today and I do enjoy not having to visit most the day. Only problem is having to go to the bathroom, I have to page security to come answer the phones while I am gone.
Not a lot planned for the weekend, DH and I plan to clean out our PJ's drawers and donate extras. Then I want to find a new pair for Christmas this year. When we have Christmas with our daughter and son everyone wears their PJ's.
Have a great weekend.

I took care of triplets for 5 yrs- 55hrs a week.
It was hard but there were fun parts too. Miss them but not the long hours or the fighting between them
There were great parts and difficult parts at every age- started at 3 months old(and they were 3 months preemie) They are 10 now and I haven't seen them for 5 yrs
I buy most of my clothes(I rarely buy any) in store 90%of the time because I have to feel them. Only exception is when I know for sure they will be super soft. Like my Sherpa jackets.
Feel is the most important part to me.
Mom is having her chimney cleaned this coming week so we won't be able to use it while I am there this weekend- I love having a fire in it. It isn't as nice as it was when I was growing up- it is all hand picked river rock. Now there is an insert in it and the doors are usually kept closed. Growing up, we only had the fireplace for heat
6 -
Fireplace is beautiful.
Got back from my flu shot and arm is starting to get sore. Expecting more symptoms this evening.
I purchase most of my clothing online simply because I don't want to waste my time looking through a mall when we travel to Edmonton. Would much rather spend that time visiting with daughter and family. I do however enjoy the outlet mall that was built out by our international airport. It's big and has a lot of shops with a wide variety of items. I usually get to go there once or twice a year when I travel as I go to the airport the day before my flight most of the time. They operate a shuttle bus to take people back and forth to the mall and it also runs from some of the hotels in the area.

Rita-everything I read about tablets is you need to give it one-two months. I selected brand I am trying from the Inspire.com arthritis group. The topical cream I am using seems to be offering relief. Going to give them a couple of months-figure there is nothing left to loose!
Allie-I often ask my adult children what they want/need for Christmas. I always get list for grandchildren-I don't get to see what toys, etc., they currently have on hand or what they actually play with. Of course, they are getting to the age where they find shopping with a gift card to be fun.
