12/17 …..178.6….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
12/18 -DNW- (Trend weight DNW) After the handymen left yesterday and we agreed upon a price for the newest project, I had to travel 200 miles each way to pick up some special supplies for the project. It was an unexpected trip. So I was sitting in the car most of the day, eating my main meal at a restaurant, missing most of my water and feeling like a beached whale most of the day. No point in weighing the obvious, especially when it’s been two days in a row off plan and with very little to no exercise. I’ll hop back on the scale tomorrow or the next day. We’ll see how tight my rings feel. Today has GOT to be a good day with no surprises! The small project begins today and should only take 3 or 4 days. Being at home is a good thing…….But I do have to start my baking soon. Very soon. After all, I am the grandma, or “Nana” as most of them call me. Good luck this round, my friends. It is definitely the hardest round of the year for most. Let’s just do as good as we can, when we can but always carry a joy, a peace and a light in our hearts and lives.
12/19 -179.2- (Trend weight 179.7) I decided to go ahead and step on the scale today for an early weigh-in. Not real happy to be typing my weight in blue but it is what it is. I should be home for the next day or two because of my handyman being here for the project. Home is my safe zone where I can better control the food and the ingredients so I should be okay. However, I’ve got to start the baking and fudge-making at some point and the BLT’s (bites, licks and tastes) can really add up. Oh, ‘Tis the Season.

Found out yesterday my BFF has Covid. She started feeling sick on Sat., and we spent a few hours together knitting on Fri. She was vaccinated , but hadn’t yet gotten this fall’s booster addressing new strains. 😢 I’m vaccinated and boosted, so hopefully I’ll be ok. Someone sitting across from her at the party last Wed. wasn’t feeling well so we suspect that’s where she got it. Why do people go to events when they’re sick? Yeesh. Anyway, I guess I’ll be a homebody for a few days so I don’t pass anything on. That’s ok. I need to do some serious cleaning, and I finished knitting a sweater last night so need to finish and wash it and DH’s Christmas sweater. I’ll be hiding in my office for that one! 🙂 I’m still not weighing or tracking, and I think I’m doing ok. This break is giving me time to really think about what I want to keep in my food world and what I want to let go. I feel way too heavy, but with this little break, I also feel a bit more hopeful about a new start and better results.
12/19 - 😳
I “unofficially” weighed myself this morning. I’m not reporting the results here, but as I suspected, I’m too heavy. It’s ok, though, since I’m on my little break. I just wanted a little feedback. I’ve been thinking a lot about what changes I’ll make when I get back at it. As I’ve mentioned, DH does a lot of the cooking here and is a big pasta fan, but I know it’s not great for me, so I’m going to stock up on proteins I can make for myself when he’s having pasta pasta pasta (unless I can have mine with lentil pasta). Also going to limit my bread to 2 thin-sliced pieces a day. I do like sandwiches for lunch. I’m going to focus on non-starchy veggies and lean proteins, and a semi-Mediterranean plan. But not yet. After Christmas. If I try to start to limit things now, I’ll fail, and that won’t help me stick to anything except more of the same. So this is my little in-between reset window. On other fronts (though, I believe, related to my eating), I did a lot of cleaning yesterday and finished the sweater I was working on. I hope you don’t mind, but I’m sharing this one, too, because I love the beautiful tweedy yarn!

@SheilaBoneham That yarn is very interesting! And the sweater is beautiful. If I saw it, I would probably have to buy some of that yarn but in a different color. Then I would have to just admire the yarn because I’m not a knitter!
@Cchassee I thought the same of faster. I have to say that, in my case, it is a head game. I feel so ‘accomplished’ when I plan it and stick to it.3 -

(Su•60g Prot; 48ozs water) I have not been weighing myself. Mainly because I don't think about it until after I've eaten. When I do step on the scale, I won't be surprised if it reads over 200lbs again and I wont be angry with myself. I still have some underlying stress, but it is subsiding now and my appetite is moving away from eating "foods" that are detrimental to me.

SW RND 245: 135.6 (end of last round).
12/18: 136.1. Oops, not starting off in the right direction. I started baking the Christmas cookies. I may have sampled a few too many. I also didn't go to the gym because my husband worked late. I went for a short walk, but nothing big.
12/19: 139.1. Holiday eating has arrived. Baked more Christmas cookies. I know I didn't gain 3 pounds of fat over night. I'm not going to stress about it until after Christmas. I'll be up some, but no real damage I won't be able to undo in the next round.

I’m a 65 year young gal working on getting rid of those last 8 pounds. Last go-around I managed to stay mostly in the 137 range, but bounced back into the 138’s for the final weigh in. This round I would like to flirt with the 136 number, even if I end in the 137’s. Here we go! We got this!

@Cchassee I thought the same of faster. I have to say that, in my case, it is a head game. I feel so ‘accomplished’ when I plan it and stick to it.
Yes. Fasting. It’s a power head/mind-game! I’m doing it to “see if I can” and to reset my metabolism. 42 hrs in. Let’s go!!🙌🏻💪🏻

12/18 - 174.8. I can't believe we're even posting on a weight loss site on Christmas week! I'm gonna treat myself to one full cupcake, donut, big cookie, or ? As soon as I decide which one. Other than that, my Christmas extras will be mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, lots of French fried onions straight from the bag while I'm making the green bean casserole. Hopefully I won't backslide much. Just 10 more pounds. I know I can. I know I can.

My round 3!

I'm starting to learn that my loss will be quite slow. For reference, my senior year of HS I went from 185 to ~165 in about 3 months. I wasn't working out at the time so it was all diet. I maintained this weight +/- a few pounds during college just due to the amount of walking required daily (easily 12k+).
After graduating I've fluctuated a bit, but starting senior year of college I became very consistent at the gym doing weights. 5+ years later I've now gained a lot more muscle so naturally my weight has increased. My 185 now looks a lot different than 10 years ago, but I could still stand to lose some excess fat.
It seems to be a much slower journey and I'm not really sure what my end goal weight should be exactly, but I think these 10 day rounds help me accept the small wins and focus on the journey instead of hoping for a big loss like 20lbs again (which may or may not happen)

12/18: 263.8 One more work day until vacation. The family are getting the holiday snack attacks and asking for me to make treats. I am proud of being able to have a serving and leave it alone on the last batch i made 🏆With just another week till Xmas I'm going to do my best this round to eat well until Xmas Eve-Eve. After that, pray for me 😂 I am planning to do the same as Thanksgiving and have a non-traditional meal that won't be hanging around the house for days. I'm not terribly worried about having some extra calories around the holidays and am pretty confident i will meet my HealthyWage goal, although the timing of the end of the challenge is raising the stakes a little.
12/19: Ok but why did the scale say 265 today? I'm keeping on keeping on but I really need the scale to go in the other direction, please. Vacation is on like Simon LeBon 🎉 Got some walking in today and planning to walk as much as possible over the holidays. Even if I'm getting more treats than usual, they will ultimately be less of an impact on my calorie counting if I take a walk than if I don't.

Goals for this round to, stay strong over the festive period, holiday abroad (20 days!).Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

12/17 141 – went 60 miles to a couple of friends, they cooked us a meal and yes it was indulgent and no structured walking. 2.2 pounds up this round, difficult not to gain this time of year. Trying to restrict damage, see you all in the next round.

12/18 141- went to see Santa with little DGDs in Dudley Tunnels, had lunch there, didn't choose 100% wisely, but was full for the rest of the day so only fruit later.
12/19 140.6 – 8.14 miles walked, 45% of exercise calories eaten back.
12/20 138.8 – pleased to see this number, it was our Christmas lunch yesterday for my DSs & a couple of FF, a real lovely girlie festive time. We all had a carvery choice was large, medium or small; my NSV I chose small and was very selective with my veggies, had a glass of wine instead of a sweet, felt really satisfied. Only ate fruit in the evening, didn’t need anything else. 6.56 miles walked, all exercises calories plus 346 eaten.

Pizza out for lunch with the whole sandwich yesterday. Sandwich you ask? My son and his wife and kids are one slice of bread. My parents are the other slice of bread. I am the meat in the middle. (In other words, I paid the tab. HA!)
Just paying it back for the parents and paying it forward for the kiddos. It’s my turn. Thankfully the kiddos are slowly growing into their adult roles. The parents on the other hand are regressing… They don’t have full blown dementia, but are showing some signs.
DW’s parents are ten years older than mine so this started ten years ago or so for us. Her folks have passed on, now it is my parent’s turn. Our siblings watch from their out-of-town locations, but seem thankful.
I am not whining, just stating the reality of our season of life for now.

In spite of my carb reading of over 200 yesterday, I managed to drop a little on the scale reading. I know these things lag a day or two so I will put away the confetti for now.
My wife does 95% of the meal prep around our house, for which I am very grateful. ( I do my own breakfast and all of the outdoor cooking.) Her meal planning is VERY good, but her goal is not exclusively-low-carb. Her goal is balance. When I break the bank on my daily carbs, I have a tendency to blame her. (Isn’t that silly?) I recognize, in my better moments of cognitive thought, it is NOT her fault when I carbo-load. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PORTION CONTROL. As I look to the left and to the right I realize I have no one to blame but @_JeffreyD_ .
Working on knowing when to say “when.”

/logged food; very little dedicated exercise, but a lot of functional movement while preparing to travel/
In the midst of organized chaos here. Getting ready for a trip to warmer climes. Part of that involves clearing out the fridge… One of my favorite pass-times.
I will be away from home for a few short weeks, but hope to find room in the truck for my scale. If not, I will still check in here to keep you informed of my NSV’s and to hear about you. I took the scale with me last year and it was a nice piece of unused furniture. I was 10LB+ lighter last year. I wasn’t going to let a bathroom scale ruin my fun. I had just retired from a stressful profession, so maybe I let my hair down a bit too much. I now observe that my food/exercise discipline is better when I have other disciplined routines (like work) to tag long.
My head is in a different place this year. I will try to keep track of it.

Yesterday: 💯lazy day. ✅macros & 1438 cal.
Today: 💪🏻🚶♀️🤸🏼🏋️♀️
I’m up a little because I’m off routine. Ok. Rational. Last night I decided to start fast @ 6pm. I felt terrific after that last fast and spent some time researching last night as to what happens to your body at 24, 48, and 72hrs - planning for 72. Pumped! Water, black coffee, electrolytes and grass-fed beef bone broth. 💪🏻

Yesterday: ✅macros & 90 cal of bone broth, 🚶♀️3.9k, 🚫ex min, 🚫 ex cal 🔥, 🚫💗Z2 min, 🚫🏋️♀️, 🤸🏼
Woke up at 3:50! 🙃😳 Good Morning! Yes, scale is less but was expected. I’m fasting to reset ketosis & recharge /reboot. I’m hoping 130 will one day be my lean & mean ceiling!☺️
Because I spontaneously opted to fast, I also opted to remain sedentary yesterday. I did end up doing a lot of work around the house. I only counted 🚶♀️. After 6 PM, (24hrs) I had 2 cups of bone broth over a couple of hours, drank tons of water & electrolytes.
Going on 36 hrs as I write this … I feel really good this morn. No hunger pains yesterday, (because I kept drinking… ) And I was super busy. I had tons of energy. No headaches. Peed all day. 😎. Hoping it goes as well today.
I had another business meeting yesterday … I’ve been approached to take on a hefty project (in my profession). Yesterday was my third meeting in 10 days, and I’m strongly considering saying yes… With each day that passes, I’m becoming a little more excited about the opportunity. Ill have the flexibility to continue to pick up DS from school, as well as play 🎾 in the morning a few days a week… and will also figure out how to 🚶♀️&🏋️♀️🤸🏼on a regular basis. The project would last six months… It’s actually too good to be true. So we will see! It’s been five years since retiring … would certainly be a wild & adventures ride cuzz I feel quite unprepared. We will meet once more after the holidays to solidify any arrangement … 🤞🏻!
Today: 🎾 🚶♀️and some 🤸🏼 - let’s see! Not sure about stamina but will try. I can always stop. ’ll be fine this morning but I’m prepared for a little waiver-ing between noon and 2pm…. 💪🏻
Note: TBH, For some reason, fasting is easier for me than I thought it would be. This is only my second go round. I find it much easier to just say no then it is to plan food/figure out what to eat…. It’s a competition with myself. Once I did the research & learned of the long list of positive benefits… It was a no-brainer for me personally. I once truly believed fasting was for WHACKOS 😎. Really! Isn’t that horrible? It’s not for everyone but… If you’re thinking about it, I encourage you to read up!

UGW = 130lbs (ceiling)
In Aug 14, 2014 @ 157lbs (down 15 from heaviest of 172lbs in 2010), I decided to take control of my health. I lost 30lbs by 1/1/2015. Weight topped @ 128-132lbs through the end of 2020. Five years!
🎢 Roller Coaster Begins….
2020 through 2021, I fluctuated 132-140 lbs.
8/1/ 2022 crept up to 142lbs.
Dropped to 128lbs again by 9/30 then held 130lbs till 1/1/23.
2023 Back ⬆️ 145lbs by July 15! 15lbs BOOM! Enjoyed eating & margaritas way too much! Ive always eaten healthy BUT portion control is/was a huge issue. Started tracking. Joined “Just give me 10 days” R231 in beginning of 8/2023. Here we are!
I learned MY choices created an emotional 🎢 roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to reach 130lbs as a ceiling. Pretty clear to me that once I reached a goal weight I would then relax/ drift backwards. So glad 145lbs was the max over the last nine years.
I also noticed that as I age it becomes much MUCH more difficult to lose weight. I could loose 15lbs easy in 6 to 8 weeks up to 2020ish … This is absolutely not true anymore!!!!

First time here, not sure I'm doing it right, but I've been avoiding the scale since before T'giving and it's a disaster. Went from 140 to 146-UGH! And this is before all the holiday food landmines ahead. So, this is a perfectly timed way to be accountable to myself- let's see how it goes!
Goal for the next 10 days: log every day; be mindful of what I put in my mouth and stabilize.

OK so not perfect but here- I was great all day, had an excellent dinner and then a few kisses. But I'm here and paying attention, even in the midst of baking Christmas cookies. I am so glad I found this challenge- just being honest and aware is helping me make better decisions.8 -

I'm in that in-between when I have yarns I love, I have projects I've begun, but I haven't quite gotten to the full-on knitting where I finish a project yet I stare at the beautiful yarn imagining how beautiful that blanket will be one day.... Oops!
I do love that sweater, particularly the color! One day I might figure out the sweater thing haha! I'm only on a 1/8th completed scarf and a barely started blanket.4 -
You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better than you were before

12/20 - 153.3 - I'm calling that maintenance. Although I was hoping to see another drop after a low carb day, I'm happy with that. Getting out of bed this morning I nearly fell - my legs are super sore! I guess my strength workout (which didn't feel terribly challenging at the time) was more impactful than I realized for my muscles. Dinner was also full of dairy and I forgot to take my lactose pills. Between the soreness and dairy, I'm surprised I'm not up! Hopefully that means, if I behave today, I'll see a drop in the coming days. Today's run is 10 min jog warmup then 5 rounds of strides (30 second increasing speed run, 1.5 min walk). Still have some beef stew I thawed out for lunch and dinner is homemade Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Still keeping an eye on carbs - "normal" days I'm still aiming for around 100g but under 150g net so I don't go overboard. As long as I keep snacking under control, I should meet that goal. I was at 120g net carbs on Monday and that involved a lot of boredom snacking.

Previous Day's Comments12/18 - Had a giant jump up due to salt and water retention yesterday for my round end weight. Quite alright since it was also normal eating day Saturday and we had Fam over. Haven't seen them in nearly a month and won't see them again until the New Year. Oof! It was nice to see them though and I'll accept the weight from that little get together. Yesterday was a low carb day and I obviously dropped right back down. Today is normal eating day with a run planned once it gets light enough. Hoping to keep mindful and intuitive about my eating choices. I can see changes in normal eating habits happening already so that's really good (: I need to lower my "normal" eating day carb intake in general anyway. Also need to slim down my portions, I certainly eat too large of portions more often than not. Here's to continuing this journey with all of you!
12/19 - I stayed stagnant after a "normal" eating day! Whoohoo! I was, honestly, trying to be mindful of my eating and did really well until I had to unexpectedly work late. I was late coming to the dinner table to eat and grabbed a soda to help wash food down rather than taking the extra time to refill my water bottle. Oh well. I think I ended up only drinking 1/4 of the soda and poured the rest out so I could have herbal tea instead once I finished up with work. I ended up at 120 carbs for the day. I was hoping to stay under 100 but that soda did me in. Plus BF (who had to cook sides - usually my job) had corn and mashed potatoes as sides - carb loading much? Today I'm going to try for a quick strength workout - probably just bodyweight like pushups and squats, planks and lunges. I'll walk the dogs. Thinking of walking them over lunch like I did yesterday. It was much nicer out (read: warmer and sunnier) and it was a very much needed mental break from work. We shall see how today goes, work-wise. Club sandwich on lettuce for lunch, keto white chicken enchiladas for Taco Tuesday dinner. Breakfast I'm thinking I'll make a ham, egg, cheese sandwich on lettuce if I need to eat before lunch.

12/20: 138.0. I felt kinda sick most of yesterday. Just did a short walk. Eating wasnt great. But that's okay for now.

12/18 -DNW- (Trend weight DNW)
12/19 -179.2- (Trend weight 179.7) I decided to go ahead and step on the scale today for an early weigh-in. Not real happy to be typing my weight in blue but it is what it is. I should be home for the next day or two because of my handyman being here for the project. Home is my safe zone where I can better control the food and the ingredients so I should be okay. However, I’ve got to start the baking and fudge-making at some point and the BLT’s (bites, licks and tastes) can really add up. Oh, ‘Tis the Season.
12/20 -179.2- (Trend weight 179.7) No change today on the scale and that is a Modern Miracle! I had a great day yesterday but last night was horrid! Very late eating with an early weigh-in this morning due to handyman. I can call last night nothing less than a binge. I am so sorry for it and so ashamed and disappointed. I know it will probably show up on the scale in a day or two. All I can do is move on and do better. I owe myself more than that. It was a great day with super healthy foods. Why did I have to go and ruin it? My only theory is that I am getting ready in a few days to go out of town for my A1C blood glucose diabetes test and I am beginning to self-sabotage. Stop it Donna!

12/18 - DNW
12/20 - DNW
Something is happening with this little reset period of mine…I’ve been sleeping embarrassingly late the past few months, but this morning I popped up, not early, but 90 minutes earlier than I have been dragging myself out of bed. That’s one of my goals going forward—get up earlier and write for a couple of hours. I used to write almost every morning from 6 to 10:30ish, 1,000 words a day. I haven’t written seriously in wayyyyy too long. I feel better when I’m writing. I eat better and exercise more. And I’ve realized that the gap not writing has created in my life may be the one I’m filling with food. Hey, maybe there’s an essay in this….. 😁
