I need this accountability. I have a long journey ahead of me!
1/8 Update - Iโm updating my January goal weight! After my progress in week one, I know I can do better than my original goal!
1/15 Update - Not a great week, but logged everything I ate and can look back to see my mistakes! Moving forward.
1/22 Update - Not getting much exercise with a sore lower back. Just have to be more strict in my diet.
1/31 Update - I didnโt make my updated goal, but that is ok. If I hadnโt updated it, I would not have had a number to shoot for! Iโm down 11#โs. Bring on February!

I've been off the wagon since Summer 2022 and I've gained back about 25 pounds. I'm still 14 pounds below my all time high of 194.7 in April 2020. I stress ate for 9 months, switched jobs and continued indulging because hey, I like food. My goal is to rediscover moderation and get back into weighing and tracking calories because that works best to keep myself accountable.

I've been on a plateau more or less this month, and am okay with that for the time being. Just trying to keep away from diet brain and want to enjoy my life and not white-knuckle it. I'm following Gin Stephen's "Fast Feast Repeat" with intermittent fasting / timed eating with a focus on satiety and nutrition in my eating window - and doing some intentional but moderate daily movement and exercise - and really feel this will be the key to a long-lasting lifestyle of keeping the weight off and being healthy. Good luck in February, everyone!!

I donโt know how long youโve been working on weight loss, so you may already know this: weight change is not linear. Todayโs number is not necessarily tied to what you did yesterday. You can be doing the exact same things every day, and still your weight loss curve will have bumps and cliffs in it. Iโm not sure exactly what factors play a role in this, but hormones are a big one. Focus on stubbornly doing the right things no matter what the scale says today, and you WILL see results. This weekโs โplateauโ will be a mere blip on the radar soon.
Thank you for your post. I do know the scale is not always reflecting oneโs efforts but it does get in your head when it doesnโt move like you hope.
Thank you for your encouragement!4 -

Heaviest weight: 175.4 in early 2013.
Original MFP starting weight (January 2018) - 168.2
December 30 (Starting Weight): - 156.0 (10-day average 155.8)
January goal - Get back into maintenance weight range.
Ultimate goal - Range between 143 - 153
I report scale weight and (ten day average weight), and I post on Saturdays.
December 30: 156.0 (10-day average 155.8)
January 6: 152.0 (10-day average 154.4)
January 13: 148.0 (10-day average 150.1)

January 27: 146.8 (10-day average 146.5)
January 31: 145.8 (10-day average 146.3)
Total loss for January: I somehow lost 9.5 pounds this month. My scale weight is down 10.2 pounds, and that's not too far from the weighted moving average. I really only pay attention to the average.
This loss was very fast the first two or so weeks this month and then started to slow down and level off. I am three pounds from the weight I was able to maintain for a few years before the pandemic. It is possible I'll get back there. If not, I'm at a healthy weight, and maintaining here is for sure better than maintaining ten pounds heavier, which is what I have sort of been doing the last year or so. I had lost down to where I am now when I was sick, but that's artificial. This is real.
Stick to it! See you on the February challenge!6 -

My name is Donna. I am 63 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5โ 5โ tall. My highest weight was 253 in 2016. My MFP start weight was 235 in 2018.

Ultimate Goal Weight: 145-155 (Iโll know it when I get there!)
Weight in blue makes me blue because itโs a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because itโs a loss. Weight in black means no change.

01/28-181.6-(Trend Weight: 183.3)- My trend weight really caught up with my shenanigans but my scale weight is beginning to come back down. Iโve had a pretty good last few days. I just need to focus on water and exercise as sometimes time gets away from me and Iโm just too tired (or lazy) in the late evening. Knowing what to do and actually doing them are two different things. Yesterday I managed to get in over an hour of exercise and that helped my bottom line today. Only 3 more days until the end of the month weigh-in for me. Just like they say in the Limbo, โHow low can she go?โ
01/31-181.6-(Trend Weight: 182.9)- Down 2.2 lbs for the month. I am still desperately trying to shake off the excess holiday weight so it is a start. I have a sneaky feeling that I will actually do better in the short month of February than I did in the long month of January. Hopeโฆ..Always Hope.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

I didn't make my weight loss goal this month, but I'm very happy with my results. Had to make some adjustments, after realizing that I was inadvertently over-training and under-eating. This had led to my weight loss happening too fast for what's considered healthy, AND me feeling exhausted/unmotivated/cranky/constantly hungry.
For the first time EVER during a weight loss effort, I didn't just throw in the towel when things got a bit out of whack... but instead I looked at all the data and info I've accumulated over the past months (food log, weight log, exercise and other health data from my Apple Watch, medical weight loss advice). Then I figured out what needed to change.
I took some time off from exercising (because, as I now know, adequate rest is an important part of exercising). I increased my daily calories and adjusted my macros. I added in an iron supplement (don't do this without blood work evidence that you are actually iron deficient or anemic; and talk to your doctor!). I'm feeling much better and the weight has started to move again, and I'm excited for the next part of my journey.
For anyone here who wants to learn more about weight loss in a supportive environment, please come check out the Ultimate Accountability Challenge. This group has been absolutely instrumental to my success: after years, no, decades of yo-yoing, I'm now down 70 lbs (since June 27 last year) and I feel so much better in every way. I'm never going back to my previous lifestyle.
Hope to see you all in the February 2024 Weight Loss Challenge! Onward and downward!

YAY!!! Limped over the finish line hitting my goal weight loss for January!!!
Was pretty consistent this month, even when I went over my calories by 100-200 on some days, I religiously recorded my food, and I was consistent in doing some exercise for 30 minutes every day!
My goals for February will be to increase the number of strength / HIIT training sessions I do per week!
Congratulations to everyone who stuck it out for the month, and came back and recorded their updates - even if the goal weight loss wasn't achieved, it's about the showing up consistently that counts!6 -
