    Well, I didn't get to bake last night so I'll need to bake and decorate this evening. We did get the puppy. Meet our 10 week old black lab, Merlin. Let the training begin, starting with house training and "no biting". I have little puppy teeth marks on my arm from those my sweet boy. Need to get a squirt bottle. My older dog is a little annoyed with the pup, but I think they will be sweet friends as the pup grows up.

    Today is another busy day at work, but I should still be able to leave a little early to bake. Assuming I get the cake baked by 5:00pm, I'll still be able to go to trivia this evening and then decorate when I get home. The gentleman retiring is an electrician so his cake will be shaped like a Fluke.

    5) Up to 2.0 oz hard cheese ok today, any type. (trying not to have cheese everyday) (last 8/25). Note: some grated parmigiana cheese has always been allowed and doesn't count towards hard cheese. Hard cheese at restaurant ok. Can have cheese with restaurant meals.✔️

    Hey all! Hope everyone is having a good week so far. I had a maintenance treatment yesterday and the oncologist was very encouraging about my great response to treatment. Was nice to hear again! I have scans coming up again in September, so I know I will be having some urges to eat emotionally over the next 3 weeks but trying to make wise decisions nutritionally. He stressed the importance of keeping my liver healthy (levels have gone up slightly since stopping chemo) so I am listening to podcasts and researching liver healing foods and lifestyle. As long as my liver is healthy, I can continue getting the maintenance medications, but if liver isn't healthy then medications cannot be given. Pretty good reason to clean up my plate, right? ;)

    @Bex953172 What a nice holiday! I love taking day trips like that...pick a different place and just go spend the day there. Fun! I Googled the places you went and it looks like it would have been a lot of fun with the kiddos! And bonus with the air show! I love seeing the jets flyover our house (near Lambeau field) for Packer home games. So cool! Hope you are feeling better by now! (I'm a few days behind but trying to catch up.)

    @Greaterthanlife Welcome to JFT! Snacking is the hardest for me. I'm a total emotional eater...doesn't matter the emotion either! Happy, Sad, anxious, pissed off, excited, bored...

    @pridesabtch Merlin is adorable!!! There are not many things on this green earth that are cuter than a black lab puppy! I've had 3 of them in my life and I just think labs are the sweetest dogs ever. Love! 😍🥰

    @cschmitz110515 That storm yesterday! Where the heck did that come from?! It got so dark so fast! Our dog doesn't like storms much either...she likes to lay next to my bed where it's secluded and dark. Bummer about water in your basement! We luckily had no damage but neighbor lost some tree limbs.

    Been craving chocolate the last two days. Anyone have any good ideas of a treat that won't blow up my calories/macros?

    I have also discovered that as I get closer to meeting my macros I am actually dropping weight a bit more consistently. Getting my protein and Carb macros have been challenging.. and I tend to get too many fat calories (yogurt/dairy probably impacting this)

    @HappyDonkey75 -believe it or not baker’s chocolate (unsweetened) works for me. It’s just chocolate. I have that a few times a week. But it is an acquired taste :o

    No appetite today. Ordered a kids meal for lunch and couldn’t finish it. So tired of feeling sick and tired every day. My goal for today: eat dinner, even if I don’t want it.

    I hate forcing myself to eat but some days that’s all I can do. I have my next nutritionist appointment tomorrow afternoon and I’m hoping my weight has at least stayed stable and not gone down again.

    @HappyDonkey75 For me, I count out 10 regular M&Ms. Or eat Hershey miniatures, 4 or less.

    It's been a weird day so far, and hubby & I took his favorite sister to Golden Corral (a buffet restaurant, their favorite place *sigh*) for late lunch. At least the steamy weather is over, but not quite the humidity yet. Not going to log food or post goals. Fresh start tomorrow.

    I find subbing out regular yogurt for a vanilla greek yogurt has changed the game for protein intake! Walmart also has a protein granola that is chocolate flavored with a few mini chocolate chips in it that I add to my yogurt. I have this a few times a week and my chocolate cravings have almost disappeared since I'm able to enjoy a little bit more often. I also add some blueberries or raspberries and VOILA, the perfect breakfast/snack/dessert, depending on your appetite and goals.

    Another way I've worked on chocolate cravings is by having dark chocolate covered almonds. I have 2-3 each day, and again it's helped decrease my cravings.

    I am not sure I have that kind of portion control on the miniatures..lol! I don't keep candy in the house for that reason..

    @quolwy -thanks for the ideas.. I do use greek yogurt , I tend to like to Dannon light and fit strawberry shortcake flavor and when i have it on hand, add a spoonful of Nutella.. its like a chocolate hazelnut covered strawberry. . but I am low on those supplies. I forget about chocolate covered almonds.. ** add to grocery list!

    oh I have heard that before but it definitely would be an acquired taste.. yikes.. might have to try it.. I did discover Lily's chocolate pieces , also seems like an acquired taste but not quite so bitter as I would imagine bakers chocolate is!

    4:30am and I can’t sleep so I might as well post my goals. I did eat dinner last night so I’ll count that as a win.

    JFT 8/29:
    - cook chicken for dinner (even if I don’t want to)
    - Dentist appointment this morning
    - Nutritionist appointment this afternoon

    Anxious for both of these appointments because the dentist is not my happy place to begin with and my mouth has been hurting lately so I’m really scared he’s going to tell me I need another filling, which my worthless insurance doesn’t cover. And for the nutritionist I really hope I haven’t lost more weight.

    @PackerFanInGB , I am the same, all the different reasons that will make me want to snack! Especially being anxious. When I was working I didn't snack, or eat lunch. but now I'm retired and at home all day food has a greater part in my life. Each meal is an important point in my day.
    I've snacked a bit the last couple of days. The weather has been too bad for me to distract myself outside, so I've been on my own inside. Blame feeling lonely/bored. I need to find an indoor hobby!
    Snacked in the evening, watching a good American mini series on TV. That's "treat" thinking!

    Yesterday was busy but good. I managed to go home early and play with the puppy and bake. Unfortunately, potty training interfered with baking a bit so things took longer. Baked then went to trivia. We almost won, but didn't bet enough on the final question. Oh well. I was feeling a bit off so I decided to go shoot pool after trivia, knowing I had a cake to decorate, but I went anyway. Shot a few games. Got home around 11:30pm. Carved cake and put a crumb coat on it then tossed it in the fridge to deal with this morning. Got up at 5:00am to decorate the cake. It is not my best work, but the guy at work I made it for was very surprised and happy.

    Today started early, and will hopefully end early. Getting mom's car detailed today so that I can give it to my cousin's daughter. Mom was a smoker and nobody wants to ride in that car as is. Anyway, I'll need to pick it up this evening. Also need to go to mom's to check in on her today. She was good on food & supplies Tuesday, but you never know what she'll have a hankering for today. Then hopefully it will be a nice quiet evening at home.

    Hey all! Hope everyone is having a good day. Tonight is grandson's HS football game but hubby and I are both feeling pretty tired today so I am not sure we'll make it. I hope that changes though. It's his Senior year and there are limited number of home games, so I hate to miss it.

    @HappyDonkey75 My mom used to count out 20 (or maybe it was 25?) chocolate chips and just nibble on them throughout the day for her chocolate urges. I tend to put 20 in my hand all at once and pop the in my mouth...then again and again. I have no restraint. ;)
