@PackerFan001 -- I had to laugh when you said to get over your "pity party". Of all people.. boy.. you have a right to have a pity party. But .. I am so proud of you ... your a fighter, and you've got this! But ... your remark about having a "pity party" is kinda the kick that I myself need.
Its going on 3 weeks that I've had this awful chest cold. Yes.. I know.. I should have gone to the doctor, but I didn't . But.. I am starting to feel better, and went to the gym this morning.. 1st time since before Easter. It felt good to see my old friends, but also sad to hear about health issues that so many of them have.
Its also been a very sad week for me. My very good friend and neighbor, who was only 66 years old, passed away April 16th, which was on our wedding anniversary, from a brain aneurysm. It was a total shock.. its still is a total shock. Life is short my friends... grab onto it, hug and tell your loved ones that you love them, and never take a day for granted. This person was the last person I would think would be gone. She and I walked a lot together, and went to the gym always together.. laughing and talking while on the treadmill. Her husband just retired in August, and they were looking forward to traveling. So we never know when God will call us up to Heaven.
So... like @PackerFan001 said -- enough of my own pity party. All I had was a stupid chest cold ... I am over it now... it is up to me to get my health back. I still get out of breath very easy, and in May for our physicals I will request a chest xray. Its up to me to stop carrying around 20 extra pounds, which is not good. What am I waiting for! So.. back on track tomorrow .. and the rest of today. Back to logging my goals, and sticking to them!
    JFT, Tues, 4.23
    1. log ALL Food
    2. go to the gym
    3. go for a walk.. all my exercising is not very long, but a lot of short periods of exercise I will rebuild my lung power
    4. concentrate on water. Helps with flushing out the kidneys, and helps with so many other things
    5. Tomorrow we are going to my friends visitation, and afterward hubby and I are going out for dinner. Make good choices.
    Name is Joan. Age 73; 5'11". Been married 47+ years, 2 children, 2 grandkids ( + 3 step grandkids)
Lives in Missouri. I love to garden, go for long walks, quilt, sew charity stuff. My goal is to stay as "young" as I possibly can... to not only look good, but to feel good, have energy, be able to continue to get up and down gardening, biking, and walking.

@Bex953172 Congrats on the size Medium! That’s awesome! 🥳👏🙌

@mytime6630 I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been sick for such a long time. And I’m very sorry to hear about your neighbor! That has to be incredibly difficult for her family also, coming out of the blue like that.

We cannot predict the future, that’s for sure. But we can try to make good choices for ourselves…and nobody can do it for us. It’s very humbling to look at how quickly things can change, isn’t it? Hugs to you, my friend! 🫂♥️❤️‍🩹

Note to myself.. stop eating!! Today I am just down, and while all day, we ate pretty good.. I just gobbled down a bagel without evening thinking. Its that emotional eating again... and did it make me feel any better. No.
So ... I'll grab my water, and the kitchen is now closed for good.

Joan, I think we have been hushing our emotions with food for so long that it’s just something we do on autopilot! I do the same thing—especially at night! At least you realized it and are realizing it didn’t make you feel any better! That’s a great step in the right direction. We are on a journey to better health, and I know we can do this. I am praying for you to feel better soon and for God to bring you peace. 💞🫂♥️

@Bex953172 now I'm curious which plants you chose! By the time they've grown in the summer it should look great.

@mytime6630 I'm sorry about your friend. You are so right in that we never know the day... I know I worry about this stuff too much, since the last difficult years with my parents.

    JFT Monday 22nd

    THINK before I eat ✅
    Log everything ✅
    Stay in the green ✅
No more than one snack ✅
    PF exercises ❌
    Back exercises ❌

It's a childcare day, so thinking we might take a picnic out. Still chilly though, and we're still both coughing.

Picnic went down well, was really too cold to sit about though. He wants to do it again today.

    JFT Tuesday 23rd

    THINK before I eat
    Log everything
    Stay in the green
    No more than one snack
    PF exercises

    5lb challenge

    CW 2/4 181
    CW 9/4 181
    CW 16/4 180.5

Really annoyed at my weigh in this morning. I feel all the effort I'm making deserves at least a small decrease. I'll try and remember to weigh again tomorrow to see if it was a blip as I was lower a few days ago.

@pridesabtch and @Bex953172 - I'm with you on the gardening. I truly don't like it at all, DH likes to see the flowers, but he doesn't want to be the one to take care of them so it's left to me. I am usually over it, but the end of July first of August and just want them gone. Like you Bex, I did plant some perennials last year and the year before in my front flower bed to ease my pain I see that the bleeding heart and lily are starting to come up already though.

@PackerFanInGB - It's so frustrating when our bodies fail us. I haven't been able to walk consistently since 2019. I finally got my hip and back able to handle it and now my foot is not allowing it.
The practicum is helping me get some steps in though.

@mytime6630 - I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend.

The night time snacking gets to me too! Mine is almost always boredom, tonight and tomorrow night I have a plan to do some scrapbooking though. I won't eat while I do that, it helps a lot!

Off to the chaos of middle school!

Started my day out with going to the gym. There is nothing like seeing good friends, and because of these friends.. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill. Ha.. even though we talk and laugh, its still exercise. Hubby says I can't be working out that hard if I'm talking.. but better than nothing.
I wasn't able to do weights much .. got really out of breath, but its one thing at a time. But... it starts my day in a positive way.
So I already tracked my breakfast.. aiming for more protein and more water today. This afternoon we will go to the visitation for my friend. It will be hard, but she is now at peace.
    JFt goals, Tues, 4/23
    1. log all food .. no matter what. Be accountable to myself
    2. concentrate on water
    3. work in the yard. Ha.. to you who hate gardening.. if I lived closer I would do it for you! It is my favorite thing to do. If I had the energy I would be out in the garden all day long! I'm planning on planting my seedlings.. hoping we are finished with the freezes!
    4. start FMQ quilt. I plan on making 7 quilts this year for xmas.. 2 finished.. just need to FMQ them. The others ones are going to be harder to challenge myself.. making a bargello one, a pattern called labyrinth, which is like a 3d optical illusion quilt, and a pattern called exploiding hearts. Stepping outside my comfort zone!

@PackerFanInGB - yes, those habits of mindless eating have been with my entire life I think. Its as if I think I will feel better by shoving food in my mouth. I am OK all day long.. why is it that in the evening I give in. Today I am trying to drink a lot more water. I think I am probably more thirsty.. I don't know! But it sure is a hard habit to change! And .. congrats on the weight loss!
@Snowflake1968 - You are doing great on the 5# challenge! I see all you guys are .. the numbers are going down! Ha.. my number have been going on, time to get with it!! But great job!!
@pridesabtch - where do you online thrift shop? I try and go to the thrift stores, but I don't usually find much. Online is so much easier.
@more_freggies76 - hope your eyes are healing. I tried to skim through all the posts.. I've know so many people with retina problems. Its amazing what they can do.. but the recovery time is not fun. Hoping your on the mend.

@mytime6630 - Thank you for mentioning me. I am doing better and I didn't have to position my head anymore this week. I still cannot go on my back, because then the gas bubble would hit the front of my eye where there are baby cataracts forming that don't need to be hit. (Boy does that limitation make me want to sleep on my back and snore away!! :p) However the bubble is getting smaller every week, should be fully absorbed in 4-5 additional weeks. The doc thinks everything looks good so far, but will do a better check when the gas bubble is gone. Not being able to do things certainly makes you put the simple things into greater perspective! I am so happy to be able to do some walking and drive to the store. ..and sleeping on my back and snoring will come soon! I see my doctor in a couple of hours for another progress check.

Hour commitment - I won't eat again until after 5 pm. None of the same foods at dinner as at lunch. Can still have my dose of metamusal.

OMG -- I don't think I could sleep on my stomach.. I am a back sleeper. I know my DIL's father had to have this done.. he had to look down all the time. so they put a tv on the floor for him.. but it was really a hard recovery, and that was all he did all day, was look at the floor and watch tv.
Thanks for updating us on how you are doing. I think it sounds like you are doing great, and it won't be long before you can sleep on your back again!! But taking care of your eyes is the most important thing.. hang in there!! Praying for a speedy recovery! And yes, boy, when we can't do the simple things that we all take for granted.. it makes us realize even more how important our health is, and how grateful I am for all the simple things we can do.

Thank you!! I checked them out.. very interesting. I can see though where you have to keep looking, as I'm sure their inventory changes.
Have you ever tried "Temu". I have a friend who buys from them.. super super cheap! As in, blouses for $5.00. I think its all made in China, and I haven't bought anything yet, because I just can't imagine it being of good quality. (Plus I worry about what kind of labor they are using when they can sell things for so cheap).
But.. its an interesting website to just browse. Earrings are like $2.00, shoes for $4.99, etc etc.

@Bex953172 now I'm curious which plants you chose! By the time they've grown in the summer it should look great.

@mytime6630 I'm sorry about your friend. You are so right in that we never know the day... I know I worry about this stuff too much, since the last difficult years with my parents.

I love Temu but not bought from there yet! However my MIL has.

I used to frequent Shein, which is also china. But I found it was hit and miss with the clothes. Don't get me wrong I've got some great ones but then some not so great ones. It's hard to get the sizes right sometimes.
I bought two really nice hoodies and when they arrived they were polyester. So not so great in the end lol! I can't even look at the dog without getting covered in dog hair that won't come out!

My MIL uses Temu for household small bits and bits for the girls lol

Ooo you're testing me now haha
The ones I know off the top of my head is, Hydrangea, Euonymous, Hebe, Red Robin, Lupins, Vinca Minor and a Cupressus Goldcrest which is the tree in back right corner.

The ones I've had to check the labels for are Virburnum and Kniphofia and I think the Kniphofia is going to be my favourite!

So yeah, quite the selection for such a small place 😂 but that's what happens when you have decision paralysis 😂

Yes, there's a lot to choose from! You have a nice mix, and good idea to get some shrubs for long term shape in your flower bed. The red hot poker will be lovely, I'm really keen on the reds and oranges at the moment, they're so bright and cheerful.
Just be aware the tree in the corner will need a lot of pruning in that position, it would get very large otherwise (both upwards and outwards!) and cover more than your whole flower bed.

If you wanted more colour this summer while the new plants are getting established, you could buy a cheap packet of annual seeds to scatter about. I did that last year and had orange Californian poppies, pot marigolds and others I don't know the names of come up. It was very cheerful.

What I like about ThredUp is you know the brands and the things I’ve gotten from there have been high quality. It is a little more expensive than Temu or SHEIN, but I’d rather recycle.

    1. log ALL Food :)
    2. go to the gym :)
    3. go for a walk.. all my exercising is not very long, but a lot of short periods of exercise I will rebuild my lung power >:) After the gym, I didn't get out again. .but did do a little yard work instead before the rain came.

    5. Tomorrow we are going to my friends visitation, and afterward hubby and I are going out for dinner. Make good choices. :) Well... dinner was 2 hot dogs, so I don't know if that was the best choice. But we were planning on going to the visitation at 3, and get a rotaissier chicken at Sams for dinner. It started storming, so we just ate at home and went to the visitation at 6.. hence.. hot dogs were a quick meal.
