Recap 7/19 F ~ even though weather was good, skipped dog walk this morning... I get that way after so many consecutive days of long walks, and I'm walking in a 5K race tomorrow morning
    1) Pasta with shrimp & asparagus for supper / no crazy snacking / log all food / 80 oz. water  good day
    2) PT exercises / min. 7,500 steps only 5,700 I'm ok with that on top of PT
    3) Race packet pick-up starts 3:00 / phone tag w/ tax analyst / text PZ / call Mom <3 / read / prep race clothes, car key & farmers market cash & totes for tomorrow / charge Fitbit at bedtime / set alarm for tomorrow's race / other? digital declutter, checked yellow roses & drowned more beetles  TA-DA!

JFT 7/20 Sat. ~ gorgeous day, if a bit hot :sunglasses:
    1) Packers 5K race 8 a.m. chip time 49:15 ave. pace 15:51 overall place 1784/2371, F 858/1228, division F65-69 29/60, passed by 78 (likely started in walking corral behind me) & I passed 191 :star: [logged my race event on MFP, which listed 349 calories; walking app has my cal burn at 309 & Fitbit lists 645 calories ~ the numbers can be so different, which is why I don't worry about every single calorie on my daily food log all the time]
    2) Log all food (a few guesses necessary for after race) / no crazy snacking / 96 oz. water
    3) Farmers market after race / clean both birdbaths & refill / empty kitchen compost into bin / check roses & kill beetles / have hubby reorder vitamins (he has online accts, I don't) / read / anything else is bonus

After years of me leaving for early morning race events, I finally learned how to trick dog so she's not disappointed that I'm dressed for walking but leaving without her. I have all my clothes & gear ready the night before as usual, but now I put the stuff in the family room on our first floor. Then when I get up, I do my morning ablutions upstairs, throw on my usual daytime clothes & go downstairs. I feed the cat & dog, let the dog outside, then fritter some time downstairs. After a few minutes of that, the dog gives up & goes back upstairs where hubby is still in bed. Once dog leaves, I quickly change clothes, put on my walking shoes & leave the house. Easy, and dog doesn't know anything until I'm already gone. No sad dog eyes in the window following me in the car going down the street. Happy me.

@cschmitz oh the subterfuge! :) I wonder if the dog will ever work it out lol.

    Log everything βœ…
    Stay in the green βœ…
No snacking ❌ 16/23 a handful of crisps in the evening
    PF exercises βœ…
    General exercises βœ…
    Walk βœ… 36 mins

Got very wet on my little walk. I was going to go earlier, when it was dry, but was waiting on grandson arriving as I'd been asked to look after him. Got told at the last minute that I wasn't required any more, that's the second time in a week that I've agreed to extra babysitting and haven't been told when plans have changed. I hate it when I'm just an afterthought!

    JFT Sunday 21st July

    Log everything
    Stay in the green
    No snacking
    PF exercises
    General exercises
    Walk
    Cut hedge if dry

Have realised that my small loss so far means my BMI is overweight, and no longer obese :)

Glad I could entertain some of you with my "trick the dog" and "ladder on top of picnic table" stories lately. Really, that made my day. Reminds me of when I managed a work team, and I used to relate similar stories to entertain my staff. It always made the workday brighter when we could have a laugh or two.

Good morning! Been sick with a cold for over a week. Ugh. It seems like there’s always something lately. So frustrating. I’m over 100 posts behind so I’ll have to catch up a little at a time…

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

    Just For Today:
    1. 24 hour plan & assess
    2. Log every bite & close diary at end of day
    3. 64 oz water
    4. Close 3 activity rings
    5. Dental cleaning
    6. W.T. at 3:00 pm
    7. Early bedtime. Evening routine.

Recap 7/21 Sunday ~ not as hot with hazy skies and no big goals for today
    1) Church 9:00
    2) Decided not to log food since hubby & I went out for brunch & all guesswork / eat sensible rest of today / no crazy snacking / 80 oz. water  think I did ok
    3) No workout planned, but maybe PT later (or not) :p nope
    4) Whatever gets done, or not, is fine with me today  actually did a few tasks in yard & around house, including washing all the dishes ~ TA-DA!

    JFT 7/22 M ~ beautiful day, a bit warmsy
    1) Walked dog 3.96 mi :sunglasses: happy dog & happy me
    2) Log all food / no crazy snacking / 80 oz. water
    3) Clean Kitty's hallway / usual Mon. garbage collection chores / put away all the clean dishes / read / other?

    About me:
    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.
    Height 5'4"
    66 yrs old
Reside in Green Bay, WI, USA

    2024 Goals:
    1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be thrilled if I can get back down to 160# this year
    • Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    • Take measurements & log on MFP every month end
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26 but no new recipes yet.
      * lentil rice sausage tortellini soup (internet) ~ very good, recipe is keeper
      * glazed lemon cookies (internet search) ~ everyone loved them at Easter dinner
      * rhubarb cobbler (in my first ever cookbook BH&G) ~ very good, I want to try with other fruits this summer
      * yellow cake (BH&G cookbook) ~ I followed instructions closely & blended well, very good with rhubarb sauce
      * white chicken enchiladas (newspaper) ~ very good, although 2 tortillas with recipe as written 846 calories (created in MFP recipes)
      * Greek yogurt almond butter breakfast parfait (newsletter) ~ terrific, if high in calories... maybe tweak
      * garlic scape basil pesto (internet blog) ~ excellent! tried as recommended with pasta (used up my radiatore)
      * summer squash, zucchini, mushroom casserole (TOH) ~ excellent! & good way to use squash & zucchini
      * zucchini meatloaf (sister) ~ good but hubby prefers classic recipe
    3) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x):
January: 5 days x2wks, 4x1, 3x1, 1x1 [1 wk lots of snow & 1 wk bitter cold so shoveling, treadmill & PT, 1 wk 4 day trips out of town]
    February: 6 days x1wk, 5x1, 4x1, 2x1 [2 wks overnight trips to visit parents]
March: 5 days x1wk, 4x1, 3x1, 0x1 [ack... prep house & food for Easter dinner; 1 wk overnight trip to visit parents]
April: 4 days x2wks, 3x1, 2x1 [lots of lousy weather, plus 1 wk overnight trip]
May: 6 days x2wks, 3x3 [fit days in around 2 overnight trips & visit on Mother's Day]
    June: 6 days x1wk {including Bellin 10K}, 5x1, 2x2 {either very rainy or hot for 2 wks}
    July: 5 days x1wk {including Packers 5K}, 4x1, 3x1 {some very hot/humid days}
    • Walk dog 3-4 miles, treadmill when necessary in winter, weights/my home version of circuit & other x-training
    • PT (physical therapy) exercises to strengthen arthritic knees & hip flexor
      Jan 4x; Feb 1x; Mar/Apr 0x; May 1x; June 4x; July 1x
      4) MapMyWalk app You Vs. the Year 1,024km challenge started on Jan. 1
      • In 2023 I logged 726.88 miles, or 1,169.8 km & completed yearly challenge 11.14.23 :star:
      • In 2022 I logged 500.4 miles, or 805km (knee issues).
      5) At least 7,500 steps per day
      • I can earn $10 every month on my Medicare Advantage Plan with 10+ days of 7,500 steps [noticed 7/12 that requirement reduced to 5,000 steps, but I'll continue with goal of 7,500]:
        Jan / Feb / Mar / Apr / May / June / July
      6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run
      • Registered early (shoot, didn't get selected randomly for waiver of fee) on 12.29.23 for 6.8.24 Bellin 10K race ~ light rain most of race, steady rain last mile or so :star: chip time 1:42:35 ave. pace 16:31 (first half 16:50 second half 16:12) overall 3,136 out of 3,463 / females 1,560 out of 1,792 / F65-69yo 30 out of 48 ~ not as fast as I used to go, but still finished my 27th Bellin overall (their 48th year)

      • Registered for 7.20.24 Packers 5K ~ sunny & very warm :star: chip time 49:15 ave. pace 15:51 overall place 1784/2371 / F858/1228 / division F65-69 29/60 / passed by 78 (likely started in walking corral behind me) & I passed 191
      • Registered for 10.5.24 Bellin Women's 5K
      7) Be considerate and loving to hubby and have fun together
      • Always a good idea
      8) Make efforts to keep in touch with parents, siblings and friends (most live in other towns or states)
      • Visit parents 1-2 times each month, phone calls in between ~ they're in their late 80s and live 85 miles away
~ canceled visit 1.12-1.13 due to blizzard
~ canceled visit 1.21-1.22 due Mom's bad cold
        ~ Mom's bday visit 1.31 with all siblings, in-laws & aunt

    JFT - Tues July 23rd
    Log all food
    1.5L of water
    Move 20 minutes

Well I did meet all my goals the last two days even without posting them.

@cschmitz110515 - I love how you’re tricking the dog. lol

@littleblackskirt - I hope your son chooses to keep you better informed. That obese to overweight feels good. I need to get back there myself.

Hour commitment -Going to have my coffee early because the pet sitters are coming early. I have to train them for an hour.

I'm on vacation for about 6 days, so I won't do JFT, but will do hour commitments as needed.

    Recap 7/22 M ~ beautiful day, a bit warmsy
    1) Walked dog 3.96 mi :sunglasses: happy dog & happy me
    2) Log all food / no crazy snacking / 80 oz. water
    3) Clean Kitty's hallway / usual Mon. garbage collection chores / put away all the clean dishes / read / other? finance chores  TA-DA!

JFT 7/23 T ~ rain & thunderstorms last night and off/on all day, so far 1" in the rain gauge
    1) Log all food / no crazy snacking / 80 oz. water
    2) PT exercises
    3) Call Mom / read / other?

We got a call this morning that the veterinarian we've had for almost all of the dog's life, and Kitty just as long, is moving away to another practice. We're scheduled for an appt with her for the dog this week, so that's ok. But we've had to reschedule for a new vet next month for Kitty. Since cat is on special diet, and we've had some concerns, we need to check into that with outgoing vet this week. Makes me nervous to change after 11 years, but I'm sure all will be fine (is what I'm telling myself). They're like our children... we've had both dog & cat for 12 years in Sept.

    About me:

May: 6 days x2wks, 3x3 [fit days in around 2 overnight trips & visit on Mother's Day]
    June: 6 days x1wk {including Bellin 10K}, 5x1, 2x2 {either very rainy or hot for 2 wks}
    July: 5 days x1wk {including Packers 5K}, 4x1, 3x1 {some very hot/humid days}
      • Registered early (shoot, didn't get selected randomly for waiver of fee) on 12.29.23 for 6.8.24 Bellin 10K race ~ light rain most of race, steady rain last mile or so :star: chip time 1:42:35 ave. pace 16:31 (first half 16:50 second half 16:12) overall 3,136 out of 3,463 / females 1,560 out of 1,792 / F65-69yo 30 out of 48 ~ not as fast as I used to go, but still finished my 27th Bellin overall (their 48th year)
      • Register for my other usual events, and add other possible events

    JFT Tuesday 23rd July

    Log everything βœ…
    Stay in the green βœ…
    No snacking βœ… 19/26
    PF exercises βœ…
General exercises βœ… but not enough
Walk βœ… 60 mins with friend, then 35 mins in evening

Stepped out of my comfort zone yesterday and attended a town meeting. I don't do joining groups at all, so hope this works out. It's to try and clean up our town, there is no money for things like litter picking, weeding and cleaning any more so volunteers are needed. And...I walked there and back instead of driving :)

    JFT Wednesday 24th July

    Log everything
    Stay in the green
    No snacking
    PF exercises
    General exercises
Cut grass, gardening (dry day :) )
    Walk, if ok after gardening

Have a funny dog story for you all aswellπŸ˜‚
We were all upstairs doing various things, girls in their bedroom watching TV, Ash in the bath, I was speaking to Ash and Casey was downstairs.
She then comes upstairs and Ash offers the bath for her as she was getting out and it was still hot.
So she jumped in, I've come down the stairs to start dinner some time later and the dogs on the stairs. Ive told him to go down, he wouldn't? I said go down again and he went down one step and stopped. Basically being really peculiar.

As I've got down further I realise his lead is on and someone's put the leash handle over the top of the bannister post.

Casey apparently was playing "walk the dog" in the lounge. πŸ˜‚ She's then come up to us, we've said get in the bath and she's forgot he was there πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ he must have been there for atleast 20 mins. Gave him a treat, couldn't even tell Casey off. I was going to, I said "who's done this, that's really mean!" But when I found out she was playing with him I couldn't be mad lol

Need to start logging again, I'm not getting anywhere.
I'm not exactly calorie counting anymore, but I am going to do it as a backup. So even if I stray from the diet plan, if I'm still within calories then it should still work?

Either way I'm hoping it will keep me more mindful. No gym today. Me and Ash are knackered. He's got a sore forearm, I've got a sore leg. I tried the leg press yesterday but after one set I knew I should stop. Still fatigued from the other day so just need to rest. So yesterday we did chest, I can only lift the bar at the minute πŸ˜‚ which I thought was pretty lame at first UNTIL I saw the bar itself weighs 20kg!! So then I didn't feel so bad about it lol
