    Recap 7/22 M ~ beautiful day, a bit warmsy
    1) Walked dog 3.96 mi :sunglasses: happy dog & happy me
    2) Log all food / no crazy snacking / 80 oz. water
    3) Clean Kitty's hallway / usual Mon. garbage collection chores / put away all the clean dishes / read / other? finance chores  TA-DA!

JFT 7/23 T ~ rain & thunderstorms last night and off/on all day, so far 1" in the rain gauge
    1) Log all food / no crazy snacking / 80 oz. water
    2) PT exercises
    3) Call Mom / read / other?

We got a call this morning that the veterinarian we've had for almost all of the dog's life, and Kitty just as long, is moving away to another practice. We're scheduled for an appt with her for the dog this week, so that's ok. But we've had to reschedule for a new vet next month for Kitty. Since cat is on special diet, and we've had some concerns, we need to check into that with outgoing vet this week. Makes me nervous to change after 11 years, but I'm sure all will be fine (is what I'm telling myself). They're like our children... we've had both dog & cat for 12 years in Sept.

    About me:
    I'm Carmela

    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP

      * Greek yogurt almond butter breakfast parfait (newsletter) ~ terrific, if high in calories... maybe tweak
      * garlic scape basil pesto (internet blog) ~ excellent! tried as recommended with pasta (used up my radiatore)
      * summer squash, zucchini, mushroom casserole (TOH) ~ excellent! & good way to use squash & zucchini
      * zucchini meatloaf (sister) ~ good but hubby prefers classic recipe

    JFT Tuesday 23rd July

    Log everything ✅
    Stay in the green ✅
    No snacking ✅ 19/26
    PF exercises ✅
General exercises ✅ but not enough
Walk ✅ 60 mins with friend, then 35 mins in evening

Stepped out of my comfort zone yesterday and attended a town meeting. I don't do joining groups at all, so hope this works out. It's to try and clean up our town, there is no money for things like litter picking, weeding and cleaning any more so volunteers are needed. And...I walked there and back instead of driving :)

    JFT Wednesday 24th July

    Log everything
    Stay in the green
    No snacking
    PF exercises
    General exercises
Cut grass, gardening (dry day :) )
    Walk, if ok after gardening

Have a funny dog story for you all aswell😂
We were all upstairs doing various things, girls in their bedroom watching TV, Ash in the bath, I was speaking to Ash and Casey was downstairs.
She then comes upstairs and Ash offers the bath for her as she was getting out and it was still hot.
So she jumped in, I've come down the stairs to start dinner some time later and the dogs on the stairs. Ive told him to go down, he wouldn't? I said go down again and he went down one step and stopped. Basically being really peculiar.

As I've got down further I realise his lead is on and someone's put the leash handle over the top of the bannister post.

Casey apparently was playing "walk the dog" in the lounge. 😂 She's then come up to us, we've said get in the bath and she's forgot he was there 😂😂😂 he must have been there for atleast 20 mins. Gave him a treat, couldn't even tell Casey off. I was going to, I said "who's done this, that's really mean!" But when I found out she was playing with him I couldn't be mad lol

Need to start logging again, I'm not getting anywhere.
I'm not exactly calorie counting anymore, but I am going to do it as a backup. So even if I stray from the diet plan, if I'm still within calories then it should still work?

Either way I'm hoping it will keep me more mindful. No gym today. Me and Ash are knackered. He's got a sore forearm, I've got a sore leg. I tried the leg press yesterday but after one set I knew I should stop. Still fatigued from the other day so just need to rest. So yesterday we did chest, I can only lift the bar at the minute 😂 which I thought was pretty lame at first UNTIL I saw the bar itself weighs 20kg!! So then I didn't feel so bad about it lol

    No snacking ❌ 19/27
    PF exercises ✅
    General exercises ❌
Cut grass, gardening (dry day :) ) ✅
Walk, if ok after gardening ❌ not ok!

Gosh, cutting the grass was hard yesterday. It was long and a little damp, the collection box on the mower is faulty, and I got stung by a wasp. It should have taken a little under an hour, but it was almost all afternoon (with a break to ice the wasp sting). Then the rain started before I'd finished clearing up. So glad I got it mostly done, but was much too sore to walk as well.

That's 4 weeks done, and I'm 4 lbs down. (some days 5lb but not today unfortunately!)
    20 days with no snacking.
Going for more walks (not sure of number)
I only wish the pounds came off quicker, it's hard sticking to such low calories! I eat around 1200 - 1400 a day.
    Onto month 2...

@littleblackskirt Congrats on sticking with 4 weeks and 4# down! You've inspired me to check my settings, and changed a few for realistic progress. Now to follow the plan LOL.

Recap 7/25 R ~ very nice day, sun is shining, not so hot & humidity is low YAY

    3) Wash dishes / dog to vet for annual check-up 3:00 & remember to ask questions about Kitty's diet / pick up supper for hubby / concert at garden 6:00 / read / other? bought bday cards for next week, completed 5K race survey, scanned & submitted dog's Simparica invoice for cash rewards card  TA-DA!

    About me:
    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.
    Height 5'4"
    66 yrs old
Reside in Green Bay, WI, USA

    2024 Goals:
    1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be thrilled if I can get back down to 160# this year
    • Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    • Take measurements & log on MFP every month end
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26 but no new recipes yet.
      * lentil rice sausage tortellini soup (internet) ~ very good, recipe is keeper
      * glazed lemon cookies (internet search) ~ everyone loved them at Easter dinner
      * rhubarb cobbler (in my first ever cookbook BH&G) ~ very good, I want to try with other fruits this summer
      * yellow cake (BH&G cookbook) ~ I followed instructions closely & blended well, very good with rhubarb sauce
      * white chicken enchiladas (newspaper) ~ very good, although 2 tortillas with recipe as written 846 calories (created in MFP recipes)
    3) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x):
January: 5 days x2wks, 4x1, 3x1, 1x1 [1 wk lots of snow & 1 wk bitter cold so shoveling, treadmill & PT, 1 wk 4 day trips out of town]
    February: 6 days x1wk, 5x1, 4x1, 2x1 [2 wks overnight trips to visit parents]
March: 5 days x1wk, 4x1, 3x1, 0x1 [ack... prep house & food for Easter dinner; 1 wk overnight trip to visit parents]
April: 4 days x2wks, 3x1, 2x1 [lots of lousy weather, plus 1 wk overnight trip]
May: 6 days x2wks, 3x3 [fit days in around 2 overnight trips & visit on Mother's Day]
    June: 6 days x1wk {including Bellin 10K}, 5x1, 2x2 {either very rainy or hot for 2 wks}
    July: 5 days x1wk {including Packers 5K}, 4x1, 3x1 {some very hot/humid days}
    • Walk dog 3-4 miles, treadmill when necessary in winter, weights/my home version of circuit & other x-training
    • PT (physical therapy) exercises to strengthen arthritic knees & hip flexor
      Jan 4x; Feb 1x; Mar/Apr 0x; May 1x; June 4x; July 1x
      4) MapMyWalk app You Vs. the Year 1,024km challenge started on Jan. 1
      • In 2023 I logged 726.88 miles, or 1,169.8 km & completed yearly challenge 11.14.23 :star:
      • In 2022 I logged 500.4 miles, or 805km (knee issues).
      5) At least 7,500 steps per day
      • I can earn $10 every month on my Medicare Advantage Plan with 10+ days of 7,500 steps [noticed 7/12 that requirement reduced to 5,000 steps, but I'll continue with goal of 7,500]:
        Jan / Feb / Mar / Apr / May / June / July
      6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run
      • Registered early (shoot, didn't get selected randomly for waiver of fee) on 12.29.23 for 6.8.24 Bellin 10K race ~ light rain most of race, steady rain last mile or so :star: chip time 1:42:35 ave. pace 16:31 (first half 16:50 second half 16:12) overall 3,136 out of 3,463 / females 1,560 out of 1,792 / F65-69yo 30 out of 48 ~ not as fast as I used to go, but still finished my 27th Bellin overall (their 48th year)

      • Registered for 10.5.24 Bellin Women's 5K
      7) Be considerate and loving to hubby and have fun together
      • Always a good idea
      8) Make efforts to keep in touch with parents, siblings and friends (most live in other towns or states)
      • Visit parents 1-2 times each month, phone calls in between ~ they're in their late 80s and live 85 miles away

Was fine all day, and then snacked in the evening. I don't even know why.
Not feeling the love for dieting today, but will try my best. Missed my morning cuppa as was needed for a small vet emergency. Just got back home at 11am after taking cat home. It's wet out so thinking I should do my tax return, I know I've said that before lol.
