I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I too have been ill for a few days now. I'm coming through okay now, though. I hope you are feeling better soon. It certainly does not work to be dieting and not feel well. I always try to make myself feel better by eating or drinking something I shouldn't. So, I put myself on a sick diet. I mentioned it before, but it's several pages back now, so I'll mention it again. I went on the BRAT diet: bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. It's what the pediatrician always told me to feed my kids when they were sick. On my own I add a serving or two a day of yogurt, just because I'm a big girl and not a little girl. Those are all foods I can keep down when I'm sick. Maybe this can keep you from going for that chocolate.
My hubby bought me some chocolate for Valentine's Day, but I couldn't eat it today, not because I'm sick (which I am,) but because it's Ash Wednesday, lol. What timing, huh?
Happy Valentine's Day everyone and a joyous beginning of lent.
Michelle in NV@anmlmzdiet
Thank you for your words of encouragement! I have yogurt, bananas and applesauce at home. I will get some applesauce now.
My husband went to church and got his ashes. He also fasted. I had fever until 3:00pm so I guess I did not know what to eat. He made his first chicken soup for me and it was very good! (it was for dinner after the chocolates).
Have a wonderful evening!
Paz
When I am sick (like I was for weeks over Christmas with COVID), I like chicken noodle soup (cup a soup, raman noodles, and maybe Campbells) and if I am ready for more solid food, I might go for cheese, crackers, maybe toast. Foods that tend to be on the salty side.
This time, with COVID, I started craving soda crackers (saltines), and I began eating them every time I felt a bit nauseated.

Work: wrapped up things with regard to recent report. Started next project.
Walked a bit at lunch and again after work.
My husband came into town and we went out to dinner at our favourite fish and chips place. We haven't been there in ages!

Our evening walk:
I have a 3-day weekend!! Yay!!

Good morning ladies!
The smallest place I lived was a closet under stairs. It was that or share a room and I really didn't want to share. That was one summer during college.
My aunt is home, with some at home nursing care for pneumonia.
I gave in to the Valentine's Day sale at Our time, a dating site. I had a lucky guy in mind from the previews. As soon as I posted a picture of me, he ran off. Boo! So that was a waste of money so far. And more motivation to quit eating so much. My face gets lumpy. So that was disappointing.

@Machka9
Oh yes! I remember vividly when I was a child and sick. My grandma would make me eat saltine crackers. I just wanted real food, lol, but since I was sick, that's what I got, all you can eat saltines and tomato soup for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Sounds like you would have got along nicely in my place. Thanks for unlocking another memory for me. I have been writing them all down lately as I remember them. My cousin and I are working on a family memory project. This is a great one.

Morning, all, as the day dawns on what is supposed to be another sunny day here in Arkansas,
Welcome to everyone new!
Our son and fiancée made it in fine last night, walking in the door as Corey was driving through the gate, so that worked out. I made butternut squash and baked potatoes for Corey and John, and Corey grilled the shrimp I had peeled and cleaned, and steak for everyone. Well, not me. Steak tastes like liver again to me. But it was a lovely meal, lots of laughter and talk. Bless 'em, they were both wiped out. Fourth day of a five-day car trip, even in four to five-hour days, is just exhausting.
They're both excited after ten months in a dilapidated, rundown rental in Las Cruces, NM, a town they grew to dislike, to move into an apartment in a greenbelt between two large towns, a bit over an hour north of us. I'm looking forward to seeing them a little more often. Right now, they plan to be back down here for the eclipse, and my best friend loves my son and is itching to meet Soraya, so we'll have a houseful of people.
Happy Valentine's Day to those who celebrated. We largely ignored it, as usual. I usually get a tree for my birthday, and that makes me happiest. I've got a fig, a mulberry, and a redbud tree in recent years. Cor can get almost any tree I want at wholesale prices, as his company does landscaping and maintains big properties. Still trying to decide what I want this year.
On memories of what to eat when we were sick: With stomach flu or anything else, it was always saltines and 7-up with the bubbles flattened. We never got soda, so it was a real treat. If you were also congested and snotty, it was Vicks VapoRub under your nose and all over your chest, and then a t-shirt put on you which immediately stuck to that smelly stuff. As one of four to seven kids at home at any given time, attention from my mother was precious, even if her hands were so rough it felt like you were being sandpapered. 😯😂
Well, one of them is up, and I'm off to be hospitable,
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

John and I had fun this afternoon, testing out our new marker pens. I just messed about, enjoying the freedom. Made a little collage out of the results for Instagram.

Tree allergies are taking a toll on me this week. Willow, Juniper, and Elm pollinating here triggering my asthma, sinus, headache, and overall blurry feeling. I’ve taken claratin, prescription nasal spray, and Tylenol (for arthritis in foot). Waiting for it all to take effect. I need to go to town today and do the reservations here so hope the meds work for at least 4 hours (supposed to be 12 hours meds. We’ll see.) Need to get more allergy pills. I like the Claritin ready tabs. They seem to work for me the best. Believe me, I’ve tried them all!!
Made some eggless, low carb blueberry pancakes this morning. No recipe, but they came out great! I usually have get hockey pucks or crumbles, but this time worked. I need to write down what I did so here goes. Feel free to try it!
1/2 cup half/and half flour
2 TBS. Coconut flour
Dash of Zanathan Gum
Tsp. Corn starch and baking powder
2 TBS. Powdered Stevia
Stir all the dry ingredients together, then in another bowl
6 TBS Just Eggs liquid egg replacement
1 tsp vanilla
Dash of olive oil (about TBS)
Almond milk to thin add about 3 TBS to liquid mixture
1/4 cup blueberries.
Mix liquids together then add slowly, while stirring to dry ingredients. Use almond milk to mix as needed to get a thick batter, not too thin, not too thick. The correct mix here is what makes the pancakes thick or thin. Cook in light olive oil in fry pan.
If anyone tries this, let me know what you think!!

I looked there twice, last time moving both front seats all the way forward then all the way back. Found 2 quarters and a chap stick but no watch. Disk the hatch/trunk area too where I put the bags. DH did all this as well. Next, when the meds start working and I’m done another trip to town, and reservations are done, I need to strip down the top of the table where we sit all the time. Lots of ‘stuffs’ on there. If no luck, then next try is the ‘keep til needed’ pile. I told DH I was going to strip that next and he wasn’t too happy. I did ask him to do it several times but he has not, so it will be me! I promised him I wouldn’t through anything away, just re-arrange the area to look for watch. He still was nervous. Weird….

Today is a day for gumdrops and Werthers butterscotch candies! Short story about earthworms. The first summer we were in our RV, we stayed at my brother’s house so he and my DH could fix the water pipes which leaked everywhere (the camper had not been winterized in CT!!). My brother and sister-in-law were making some pocket money by sorting earthworms and putting in containers for fishing. Each container had to have a certain number of worms so they had to be handled by hand wearing gloves. My DH and I helped them with this while they were doing this. It was gross, but interesting. I’ll see if I can find a picture. Found it! In spoiler

Hello ladies!
Yesterday I had fixed breakfast burritos for the boys, and I had two hash brown patties for my breakfast. My youngest had 4 panko breaded prawns as well. He sure does love the Asian ish food for breakfast lunch and dinner. When he gets back to Japan sometime this summer, he will acclimate in a NY minute! He said he's looking forward to more seasons, not like Cuba where its just humid.
Our Asian food place gives so much food! I had prawns and teriyaki chicken over fried rice. It comes with a small salad.
This was after I had my fill! We all have Tupperware in the fridge with our names on them. I suspect the boys will eat theirs when they wake up.😁. While we ate last night, we watched "the Sand Pebbles" with Steve McQueen and Candace Bergen. We will watch the rest today, as its a 3 HR movie. Today we're trying out a new restaurant in old town Oak Harbor. Hopefully it is good. Its easy to get tired of the ones we have around the island, so always nice when a new one pops up.
My hair is really growing out!

Today’s gratitude: power, internet and woodburning stove.
Yesterday’s gratitude: Joe’s help with racerback bra, seatbelt, oh and red wine an dark chocolates!
Line dancing cancelled for the rest of the week, J’s sick. Yesterday’s strategy to get steps in by Jeopardy walking was not successful, too tired/relaxed after massage. Today will start earlier ;}
Annie your reluctance to extend care to your aunt is entirely understandable, especially in light of your father’s current situation. Thankful she has daughters and a gs in the area. ((hugs)) “. . . I love you, my friends! You are a big part of my life.” Ditto. ((hugs held extra long))
Lisa I woke up in a rage from a nightmare and thought of you, Corey and your different approaches to keeping/getting rid of things. In the dream I’d chided Papa and the boys (?what boys?) for not emptying the dishwasher EVER during the two weeks Mama and I were traveling. He avenged himself by bringing in ALL the Christmas decorations from the garage and piling them in the living room, telling me to get rid of them. I shrieked “I’ve already sorted and purged them three times, these are the ones I want to keep!”Woke up with adrenaline anger warring with grief, Papa has been gone since 1988, Mama since 1995. Your “wasn’t the hill…” choice made me sigh with relief, and hope that one day the boat will either float, or float away . . . I still turn to Vicks for congestionOh, and I now have 3 grands with learner permits!
Tracey, thanks! Was familiar with IEP but not the IPP equivalent. How’s it going?
Heather and Vicki your ideas for incorporating Lisa’s yard art into the landscape.
Lanette kitchen queen, wow! A wood burning cookstove ?!? Joe and I have agreed to let Aunt Elsie’s Wedgewood go in the spring, if we can find someone to take it. Very heavy. Also to donate the antique (came around the horn?) table with leaves I bought decades ago. The chairs have all been trashed. A bit of a wrench but will give Joe more space in the garage so he doesn’t have to dismantle the trailer every winter. Would be no room for them anyway if I moved into smaller quarters, trying to develop this approach.
Welcome @Paz922 ! Hope you feel better soon, it’s so hard to make good food/activity choices when we have the flu. Have you tried ginger ale and dry toast?
Michelle in NV your soup pics/recipes are making me crave “beer soup” again. Might just have to make a batch . . .

Did Bob Harper’s Totally Ripped DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do some HIIT
Paz – welcome. Feel better fast
Before exercise went to WalMart to get some kisses on sale (like I need them). Then exercised, went to Dollar General to get distilled water then CVS to see if they can fill a prescription for Vince and to check on mine. Jess and Colby went to DD and I walked with them over there. Made brownies for Jess and these lemon bars for Vince, Colby and me. Colby and I went to WalMart. What a difference in our shopping! I’m constantly looking for the store brands of things, he likes a lot of the name brands. Oh well…..
I completely and totally forgot that yesterday was Ash wednesday and had some ham for dinner. Oops!
Rita – I don’t know that I’d be able to keep from throwing just something away.
Carol – ANY picture of Rebecca is great. Some people are very photogenic, unlike me.
We’re going to go out to dinner, leaving in a few. Hopefully, I’ll be back

Rebecca - Love the hair, it suits you, and the smile suits you even more...
Heather - The marker images are quite kicky, and they look like you're having fun together. While you're playing, you should play with different paper textures - they act quite differently on different papers and surfaces from canvas to various fabrics as well.
Rita - Sorry I don't have advice on where to look for your watch. Terribly frustrating, I know, especially with something expensive. It was always quite helpful to make me do impromptu cleaning, though, if there is any silver lining.
Barbara - Waking up from those high-emotion dreams always leaves a sticky hangover for me, I'm glad that you were able to use my philosophizing to help, even if just a little.
Vicki & Heather - And everyone who commented on my contretemps with Corey and his preciouses... Mainly because of your suggestions, and just the fact that there was a possibility to change things, I called him today and asked him if he'd be willing to drag it down to the old stable, where so much of his collected stuff now exists. It would not be visible there from the house. He laughed and said we'll take a look at it. I'm OK with that. I can't believe it took me six years to ask for that...
Anyway, the kids have come and gone and I have pictures of the new apartment, which is not to my taste (dark wood, dark granite, dark tile - very modern), but is making them very happy. Plus lots of amenities quite near them. I hope they're very happy there.
I just woke up from a wonderful and badly needed nap which hopefully helped me recover somewhat from Tuesday's cleaning binge and then the overnight guests last night. Cardio in the morning, gastro in the afternoon, still debating whether to drive home a half hour to rest for only a couple hours in between. I guess I'll play it by ear.
Much love from sunny, balmy, Arkansas,
Lisa

Hit my 10,000 steps as I got back to the school to pick up Ezie after walking the wetlands. Super low tide so walked on the beach for a bit. Last week was super high tide plus the rain so no beach at all to walk on. Rain held off which was nice. Weather was overcast but warm enough. Wore a sweatshirt but got too warm so wore my tank top for 1/2 the walk
Rain will be back Saturday so will walk tomorrow.
Saw an amazing hawk while walking- just sat in the tree right above me
Dinner will just be left overs beings son and his girlfriend went out to eat last night and dh ate at his mom's so wasn't very hungry(did eat a little later in the evening.)
Made a huge pan of almond chicken and some mini spring rolls plus rice. I had a small bowl after Zumba class- very small amount of rice under my almond chicken- TONS of veggies in it.6 -
Ugh poor Tracy...she is just beside herself..

Went out to dinner. Had blackened salmon, black beans, unfortunately they were out of the veges so had a house salad (no dressing), just water to drink. However, I did have part of this chocolate dessert, sort of a mousse.

It is at trying times like this that people reach for whatever spiritual practices that provide guidance. I'm reading a book now called "Reasons Not to Worry" that is one school of thought on how to handle tough times. There are many others, including what you suggested to her.

On asking ... one of the things my mentor at work is encouraging me to do is to ask more. If I ask, the answer will might be "no" and things will remain as they are but I know where I stand, or the answer might be "yes" and I'll get what I want, or the answer might be a negotiation and compromise process and I might get some of what I want.
Just yesterday I asked about a work from home pattern. I knew I could work from home one day a week and that it had to be consistent. In other words I couldn't work from home on Monday next week, Thursday the following week, Wednesday the week after and so on as my whims desired.
I have Fridays off every other week, so I asked if I could work from home on the Thursday when I have Fridays off, and the Friday when I work the full week ... alternating days on the last work day of my week.
And my supervisor approved it!!
