Good morning ladies!
Tracey good job on both logging and decluttering! You rock!
Debbie good job on logging! You do so much walking and Zumba. You are very active!
Heather and Lisa you are both navigating your health challenges with intelligence and diligence. Good job!
Well I bought a pedometer but it turns out you have to put it on first thing in the morning when you wake up. I missed that part. But I am weighing myself in my pajamas, and Teddy seems okay waiting the extra minute.
I had the iced tea yesterday but I slept through the night until five am. Yay! Could have been much worse.
The Rubin book is excellent. I think I should read a diet/ habit book every month. So I lined up a few in my Amazon cart. But I didn't buy them, I did save for later. So that's progress. I like having that little voice of encouragement. I should probably read later in the day when my motivation gets weak.
Speaking of habits, Teddy has decided to be a lap dog. It's a great way to start the day. A warm lump of love. And hot tea.
I will buy groceries later today. But before that comes the second instance of my new habit routine: 9:00 yogurt then dress then bike. When I am done with Noom I will start a habit tracker app so I can see my streaks. This week is just practice and getting it right.
Have a marvelous day ladies!

Good morning ladies!
Sorry I have been MIA. Mentally was a hard weekend. DH was "difficult" and "needy". I read my books lots! Finished another and am halfway through number 6. Migraine was bad on Friday as the snow system came in. Took med, drank liquid IV, hit water goal, fell asleep in chair at 730. Closed shop early on Saturday. Lots of ice and no customers. The phone didn't even ring! Went to Kentucky. Cleaned out two dead mice, lots of dead bugs, and two mouse nests from boxes. Then worked on filling in more holes with aluminum foil and caulk. Did enjoy time with friends Sunday evening even though I really didn't want to go. Not sure what the deal was with me but felt better yesterday.
Thank you Ginny for reaching out. I really did appreciate it.
Weight the same for second week. Having just said that, stepped on scale and down a pound.....hmm. Scales- if have batteries, try changing if scale acting funky. My February calendar has too many blanks. Need to get my act together.
Celebrations I have consistently hit 3 of my six goals for the month-Bible reading, face washing 2x a day, and reading.
Refections Water, 7500 steps, and 25 mins exercise still struggling.
Head to Cincinnati tonight to see Book of Mormon with oldest daughter. Not sure I am interested in it, but will enjoy time with daughter. Late night....
Welcomes!
Congratulations on the successes!
Healing thoughts!
Hugs!
Loving the decorating, crafting, and decluttering!
Only took two hours to catch up!
Love to you all!

Thanks for the comments on the health stuff. Pleased that so far it's all reasonably positive, and hope it continues.
Jeda - Welcome, and welcome to anyone else who's knew.
Vicki - Thank you for that. I'm not sure why it makes us feel better to know that others have gone through the same thing, but it genuinely does. Supportive and understanding family really help a lot in times like that.
Tracey - Well done on tracking! When I can own what's going in my mouth, I feel like I can gain control of it. It takes me about a week to stop fibbing to myself about how much of something I ate and start being real about every single thing, though. My self-sabotage runs deep.
Heather - You can always take a photo of things like the postcard, too. Takes no real space, and might bring a smile a year later when you're scrolling through your photos. Enjoy the sleepover with the kiddos.
Annie - Well done on the habit stacking and tracking, dear heart.
The weather is just skimming freezing temps right now but is supposed to be more than 30 degrees higher by mid-afternoon. So I'll start with a t-shirt, then a hoodie, then a coat, and peel layers off as the day progresses.
I've got a half-hour more this morning than yesterday, with a slightly later appointment, so I think I'll get started on that electronic decluttering I've been promising to do. That way I can only wade through it for an hour and a half, and won't get exhausted with it. I've got ten years of files that just got pushed from one computer to the next without any weeding out, six of which I was working and/or writing, so there's a lot!
On the way in, I'll call my sister and let her know I'm doing better. She unfortunately (for her) picked up the phone on Friday when I was at my wit's end. However, her new dentures will be in tomorrow, and she's excited for that. I hope it goes well.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Annie, I have read lots of books about habits and food and exercise over the years and they have been valuable inspirations for me and good learning to carry around. Having the right thoughts pop up immediately is one of the benefits of all this reading. About your pedometer. I get dressed immediately in the morning to walk the dogs so I have a pocket for my pedometer, but my husband had me sew pockets into his pj's so he could carry his pedometer in the morning before he showered and dressed. Counting and keeping track of steps has been very helpful to me.

Good morning everyone ☀️
Laundry day for my husband and I. I still don’t have the strength to do housework on my own, but my dear husband is a blessing to me and does the majority of it. I still try my best to do what I can, and hope my health continues to improve so I can take those chores over again. I’m sure my husband won't mind. 😉
Catching up with the group as I make some hard boiled eggs for breakfast.
Michele - I agree. I don’t want to hear my doctor say, “well, at your age”. No, let's figure out the problem and do something about it.
PIP - Your living room looks nice, rearranging everything really opened the space up! Your new light is really nice too.
Barbara - I’ve never heard of using milk thistle for liver support. I will definitely talk to my doctor about it at my next visit. I’m on several different medications, so I have to make sure there wouldn’t be any reactions with them.
Lisa - Looks like I’m not the only one who has trouble with certain kinds of dairy. I’m still doing research on it, to see why I have different reactions. No luck yet.
Deb - I think Barbie gave you some good advice. Go by how you feel. If you feel strong and energetic, go with that instead of calorie goals. I wouldn’t go below 1200 though. Our bodies are just like a car, it has to have fuel to run.
Tracey - Logging my food has been a game changer. I didn’t want to at first, but when I realized just how many calories I was getting from, a spoonful of this and a nibble of that through the day, I was shocked. And what a cute helper you had. I love when my grandchildren visit, they bring so much joy and energy with them! And congrats on a successful day of logging your food. It gets easier and easier the more you do it.
Machka - I don’t eat nuts very often. But when I do from now on, I will definitely remember your post!
Annie - Congrats on reaching your new habit routine goal yesterday! Keep up the great work.
Lanette - Liver damage typically has four stages, beginning with inflammation (stage 1) and progressing all the way to cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease. (stage 4) I’m at stage 3 which means significant damage has occurred. Fibrotic scar tissue has crowded out quite a bit of the healthy tissue, making it much harder for the liver to function. Left untreated, moderate-to-severe fibrosis can lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer. But it still may be possible for the liver to heal at this stage. Fortunately the liver can completely repair itself, if you lose weight, eat healthy, and exercise. That’s why I am giving this new way of eating and living all I’ve got, and will be sticking with it for the rest of my life. The alternative is bleak indeed.
RVRita, yes, I am interested in the name of the blood test. I have been tested twice in the last 10 years (skin test) for food allergies. Even my doctor acknowledged they’re not the most accurate though. I’ll PM you soon.
Vicki - Sorry for the loss in your family.
Kristen from Maine - Welcome!
Jeda CA - Welcome!
I’m making BBQ ribs for my husband and I tonight (plain for me) so I need to take them out of the freezer to thaw.
Have a great day!

It was my dog Drew that got me so interested in looking outside the box for health care. Here is the US big pharma is heavily involved in the Med schools. So a doctor in order to pay off his 300,000+ loan has to go into a practice where he might have 8 minutes a patient and is informed by the big pharma sales rep on the latest drug to give for some symptom. DH was on 10 drugs at the end and our cost was 1000+ a month. I have made up my mind that I will not get on that trend mill. Thus my quest for knowledge to keep myself as healthy as I can given the environment we are living in today. I am currently listening to a Summit on Vitality. One of the speakers Dr. Tom Brady who the book "You Can Fix Your Brian." talked about just starting by making small changes to improve your health. The recent ones I made was to eat an organic orange instead of orange juice for breakfast. My triglycerides were creeping up I think the OJ was part of it. Fruit juice is loaded with sugar! I also now turn off my router at night to lessen the EMI pollution. They did recently switch us over to smart meters and not much I could do about that. I am also becoming more mindful about using a cordless phone and a cell phone for talking to someone. In other words I am trying to become more aware and do the small things I can do to help my health.
He did also touch on emotions and how they can negatively or positively effect health. He also talked about your tribe who you hang out with can have a huge impact on your health.
Another speaker talked about the importance of being an empathetic listener to start. We all need to feel like we are heard. Then it is important to start pushing the conversation towards healing and ways that a person is moving towards solving their own problems.
Our group is very good at doing this.
Currently because of my situation I do get the "HOW ARE YOU?". I now am at the point where when they ask me I start talking about the volunteer work I love doing, I am looking forward to getting into the dirt again to garden, I just love our choir director at my church and the wonderful music we are making together at our church. Then asking them "What are you doing or looking forward to doing soon?"5 -
@ Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD, I downloaded the “Free” cookbook. I liked the looks of the recipe but don’t have the cocoa or honey needed. Thank you!!

Annie - it took me a while to remember to stick the pedometer in my pocket first thing in the morning. Sometimes I still forget to transfer it when I change into my "go to town" jeans or put it back in my sweats pocket when I get back home. You'll figure out a system that works for you. I see Barbie has a system similar to mine.
April - thank you for the liver info. Sounds like you are on your way to better health which will help your liver! Love hearing about your day, your DH is a keeper for sure. What part of Indiana are you from - southern, middle, or north? You probably said and I missed it. I was raised on a farm in northern Indiana surrounded by corn and soybean fields and flatlands. Moved to the Pacific NW in 1977 and am now surrounded by evergreens and moss and mountains.
Ginny - good luck with the interview. Hope you can get an applicant that "clicks". I'm having lunch with my old 911 pal M today. After not seeing each other for nearly 25 years we still have so many shared memories - some war stories, but more the interesting people who were our peers and the staff at the state office.
Kylia - glad you popped in, what a busy weekend for you. I figured you'd gone to Kentucky and/or had a migraine. . Hope you have a great week.
Lisa - hoping your appointments are smooth sailing.
News tidbits regarding health I ran across you might be interested in -put in spoiler so they don't clutter up your feed:From the New York Post this morning: Researchers believe 80% of Americans have been exposed to the plant pesticide chlormequat, a toxic agricultural chemical linked to fertility and birth issues in animals. The pesticide was found in popular oat-based breakfast cereals like Cheerios and Quaker Oats. I eat oatmeal nearly every day, Quaker. Either cooked or overnight oats. I'm not worried since I'm way past fertility and birth issues, but I'm still going to start substituting Organic. Horribly spendy but a large package, which would be at least 30 servings, still costs less than a single bowl of oatmeal at a restaurant.
From the latest issue of "Brain & Life" - Coffee may be good for our brains. Researchers have found a link between coffee and slowing brain aging including less accumulation of tau protein attributed to causing Alzheimer's. Sounds like 3 to 5 cups does the trick. Other sources of caffeine like energy drinks don't do the job. Has to be the real deal. Coffee is my drug of choice to combat the aches and pains when I first get out of bed. Time for another cuppa Joe.
Also from Brain & Life - there seems to be a very small correlation between Rosacea and Parkinson's. I was on tetracycline for years and "older adult pimples" and flushing/blushing were present on both sides of my family. My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's in his late 80's, and his main symptom was drooling! I attributed it to all of the farm chemicals he used for years, and I'm pretty sure that was the case. Not worried.
By the way, that "Brain & Life" magazine is a free bi-monthly publication about brain health and diseases of the nervous system. They also have the info on their website: https://www.brainandlife.org/

Diets I tried In order I tried. They all worked for a while but when I stopped, all the weight flew back on. Now making a habit of no sugar, and 45 grams of carbs only each meal (Diabetic diet). This is a necessity now and works. I just need to continue!
Just eliminating sugar, Slimfast, Atkins, a diet similar to the South Beach Diet (Can’t remember the name of it, but company is now defunct), Weight Watchers a couple of times, KETO, LCHF (low carb, high fat. This is kinda what the Diabetes and Kidney diets do), NOOM, My Fitness Pal and been in the background for the last 15 years or more. When I’m diligent about logging, I do very well on ALL of these diets. Now working on using MFP to address my Kidneys and pre-diabetes/high blood pressure.
Thinking about it, I sure was a YO-YO dieter in the process of finding something that works for me and I can keep up the rest of my life: A Way of Life!!
RVRita5 -
Today has a LOT of good things to celebrate Loving your pet, cherry pie, muffins: but you will NEVER find me in handcuffs! And I won’t celebrate Allergies as I have been dealing with tree pollen the last month and will only get worse!!
PS: My liver healed from using the KETO and LCHF diets. I have/had NASH (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. —Fatty Liver). My Gastro checks my liver every time I go in (every 6 months) with a once a year kidney scan which has been normal the last 2 times. NO MORE NASH! Removing sugar and wheat replacing what I can with nut flours helped me here. Now to find the way to prevent kidneys from getting worse (can’t heal kidneys). Doc says the Metabolic Acidosis can be cured. I will see about that!

Hi Gals,
I woke up yesterday with a dozie of a cold…. I have not had a cold since 2019, so drank herbal tea and slept yesterday. Went to the store this morning and got some drugs. I really can’t take any more time off of work, so need to be able to function. Luckly for me since I take so little meds I respond quickly. I did get on the scale this morning and lost 2 lbs…. not the best way to loose but a silver lining. I am feeling a bit better today, but will not push to hard. Just going to the store was enough to make me think about a nap.
I had moved all my client appointments to the garage because of the pandemic, and just recently because it has been so cold and wet, I have had client appointments in my kitchen – I wonder if that is how I caught this cold. I am moving appointments back to the garage.

Thank you!
I enjoy walking the wetlands and Zumba-nice to get out and do something for me. Miss walking as much as I was before-will work on it.
Just wish the scale would move in the right direction.
When I am tracking my food, it is easier to stay at 1000-1100(I know- should be 1200 but I keep it at that in case I am not tracking exactly right)
I am working on uping my protein like has been recommended here. I actually was over on it until I had class and then had 7 more I could have used but didn't
No walking today. It is raining again/still it seems. MIL won't let me walk the dog in the rain.
I will have to make up my exercise either doing it inside or on Saturday-If it isn't raining I can walk how ever much I want because dh will be gone all weekend but I have a LOT of decluttering I want to do while he is gone. Main thing is my kitchen table- I want to get some of my little AeroGarden /hydroponic things going. I have one tray in the window sil and an excited to get more done- just hope the cats stay out of it.
Need to get the roses and raspberries pruned(another thing on my list). Started last week but then got rained out.
Ordered a bunch of seeds- looking forward to a bit warmer weather so I can start planting in the green house. Ordered 7 kinds of tomatoes, (have one coming up already in the Aerogarden), 2 kinds of peppers(1 in the Aero) and 3 kinds of cucumbers(a friend from Zumba just gave me some for another kind). Already have left over seeds from last year.
Need to buy better potting soil to start them though- didn't have great results on some. Hoping that is what the problem was. I will plant some in my little green house and then most at mom's. She wants to plant this year so I am getting friends lined up to go help get it going as soon as she is ready(ordering the potting soil is the main thing she needs to do). My nephew is coming from CO next week to work the garden with the tractor for the first run and then a friend will do it again when it is time to plant i think.
Having my tea and waitng for dh to get back from his mom's and a hair cut- going shopping- of course(we shop every day for something- that is his favorite hobby it seems). Need to pick up more cat food- found some at a great price so tried it- they LOVE it so going back to get more. They love the chicken, salmon, not so much. With 9 in the house and one stray that stays here outside, we need to get the deals when we can.
Thinking I will make breakfast for dinner- pulled some corned beef I cooked then froze from the freezer so chop that up with some diced baked potatoes for hash, some scrambled eggs(over easy for dh if he wants them) and maybe waffles-haven't made any of these in a long time.
Have a great day
Enough rambling for me- sorry- I tend to do that too often

Just listened to Dr. Singh on the Vitality Summit. He is an integrative doctor. He uses both conventional and holistic medicine. I liked what he said about if you have a set back with an illness it is a process in restoring health. His approach is to start where the patient is. If it is a patient who has been eating the American diet low in fiber high in processed foods he does not suddenly change them to a high fiber food and then throw all kind of fermented foods on top of it. He introduces the process to healthier eating slowly. He also acknowledged you could have a healthy system then something out of your control happens like an infection, a heart attack. This is the time to possibly use the big guns to stop the infection and or heart attack. Once the danger is past then it is time to look at lifestyle choices that can keep you vital and healthy. In his practice he said the ones who recover more quickly are those who make it their intention to get better and as another speaker said not fall into the victim trap and have an attitude there is nothing they can do.6

My husband has a job. At least it appears so. He signed the contract about 10 days ago, he received his computer yesterday, his background check cleared this morning. His first day is Monday. This has been a tough year, but this is a good job with a reliable tech company. He knows 6 or 7 people there all ready, including his direct manager. We are still nervous, after the year we've had, but this appears real. We've been paying for Cobra the last 10 months or so, so having employer contributing health care is probably the best thing about it. Along with the pay, bonus, and stock. It is the job he wanted.
We should close on my mom's house in two weeks. The side property is also under contract, and hubby sold a domain name at the end of last week for a nice bit of cash, so things are looking up.

Hey all.... I have been having a lie in as Heather calls it.. I figure if i stay in bed I wont eat.lol
I had an english muffin with a slice of cheese on it and a cup of hot chocolate. Which I'm trying to steer clear of because of the dairy..
Yes im lactose intolorant.. only within the last few years..
Im going to hop in the shower and then go get the mail.
Tracy is well she has 2 more trips down to the IVF drs tomorrow and next Wednesday and then will be transferred to the OB and neonatal specialist after that.7 -
Heather - Take the appointment! The NPs here are much more likely to hear you out and the biggest difference is honestly just a few years of school and tremendously less ego. Again, it might not be like it is here, but the NPs do the prescribing of therapy and any needed meds, they just need doctors to sign off on their orders.
Flea - So good to hear good news for your husband! I know you'll be relieved when the house is done and dusted, as well.
Kim - Sorry about the cold, dear heart... take care of yourself as much as possible.
It was a good visit with the new cardio guy. I had to get over how good-looking he was, but he was also very good at explaining it all, and the biggest thing he explained was that he wants the Crohn's controlled before he does the heart procedure, for obvious reasons.
He's honestly the only one who's wanted to know the whole of my outlook and not just their narrow little specialty. I was so overwhelmed by someone who was actually hearing me that I began to cry. I hate that. *sigh.* Didn't help that he had a charming accent, a wonderful delivery and a puckish sense of humor. None of these will I tell my husband, who also has a charming Alaskan accent, a wonderful delivery and a puckish sense of humor. 👀🙃😂
I guess it's just because it's been more than four years of this, and Friday put me on tilt more than I like to admit. I can't remember who asked, whether it was Lanette or Barbara, but yes, I will be seeing the gastro APRN next week, I was able to get in on Wednesday. (APRN is almost the same as an NP, just one more degree). That means next week is the nuclear full-body bone scan on Tuesday, gastro on Wednesday, and I'll need to fit acupuncture in there somewhere if I can.
Tired of me again,
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Did not go to water exercise this morning. I have appointment with podiatrist this afternoon to check up on the tendonitis. Ankle is feeling much better and much more stable.
Critters have decided spring is near. Horses and goats have both begun shedding winter coats. Crocus are up and blooming, daffodils are up and have buds, bluebells are up. The apple tree has been pruned and I hope we get some apples this year. Last year we had a hard freeze right as it was budding and got no apples at all.
Lanette - ran across a book called "Under the Influence" by Tove Danovich. You might enjoy it.

Hi Gals,
Flea – money worries are so draining – glad things are looking up and DH will be happier if he is contributing and doing something he wants to do.
Allie – Staying in bed so you don’t eat is a different strategy, but one that I don’t think will be successful. LOL I know you know how to do this, log everything thing you eat and drink and up the exercise. I realize you have found this difficult, we all go through these times where we can’t seem to make a decision that gets us to our goals. Is there anything we can do to help? Being on the west coast and being an early morning gal, I am probably up when you are. Would it help to call or text me when you are tempted to make a choice that will not get you to your goals?
Love ya all,
Kim in N. California

Flea- ah, such good news on your DH's new job. Hope he enjoys it. Takes a lot of pressure off, for sure. And with the sale of Mom's house - things can finally settle down a bit in your life. So happy for you.
Margaret - thank you for sharing what you run across regarding alternative medicine and how we can take back control of our health. I think you have the perfect answer to folks who want to know how you are doing.
Heather - I don't blame you for being miffed. Like Lisa said, hopefully the NP will take the time to listen and be able to immediately get you scheduled for any more tests or exams you need.
Lisa - as you described your cardiologist, my heart started going pitty pat and I think I need to schedule an appointment with him ASAP. Seriously, so happy that you have a doc willing to listen and is interested in YOU not just your heart. Sending good luck charms for your test and appointment next week.
Rosemarie - have fun babysitting your son's pup. Sounds like a great companion.
Kim - sorry about that cold. I bet you'll have it beat in no time.
Sue in WA - my library had the book, and I just downloaded it onto my Kindle. It looks good - one of these days I'll share another funny chicken story. Happy to hear your ankle is doing better.
Had a nice lunch with M. Still full and won't need much supper.
I wasn't planning to start any tomatoes from seed but popped into the neat little garden store for a couple minutes and walked out with seeds for 2 "bush-type" tomatoes. One is Glacier - for cooler climates, and the other is a patio-type called Cherry Falls. So we'll see. I won't plant them until the end of March - I generally can't get them planted outside until late May or early June it seems.

It's not the NP I mind, it's the phone consult. I have emailed them with my thoughts. Don't expect any reply.
I managed to walk from the school to my son's house, but was in quite a lot of pain. Lots of sit downs. No claudication though.
John is out for lunch with his cricket friend tomorrow, so I have a few hours to myself. Going to make an easy dinner as he will have had a substantial lunch.
I'm scheduled to ring my friend L tomorrow late pm.
I will attempt to get the Hovarian questions answered for the article.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxx4 -
Lanette - when I was working in the camp garden, I would start tomatoe and pepper seeds in early january so they were ready in 4 inch or bigger pots to go out in April. Your growing season is a bit later than we are down here but you might want to pot those seed up asap if you have room so you have bigger plants for planting out... That always means a sooner harvest. I am aways ready for the first tomato harvest before it is here. LOL
