It was interesting to write it down as if it were TV Series Seasons. I had never thought of my life as a story before doing that!
I hope you feel better very soon.
I've been struggling this week ... never have a flu shot and dental work at about the same time. Urg.

I really can't wear a conventional bra, as I have a very broad back and ribcage and always feel as if the life is being crushed out of me by a vice, whatever size I buy. My breasts are not big, so I've been using tight fitting camisole tops to keep everything together. It works reasonably ok, but, in the summer, I don't always want that extra layer. So I'm going to try a new type of very light stretchy seamless bra, in a flesh colour. I have no faith this will be any better, but I can always return it. I've seen it loads of times on YouTube, and the reviews are good. Not sure about my size, but I've gone for XL. I will probably take the padded cups out.
Wish me luck! It will be a game-changer if it works.

It was worth it for me to get professionally fitted.
But for more casual purposes, I go with Bonds.

LisaInArkansas wrote: »Tracey - I haven't shared all my food fussiness by any means. A short list:
- I like the taste of onions, but hate the texture, so Corey's learned when he's cooking for me to chop them up very small or very large so I can pick them out.
- You already know that green vegetables taste like bitter dirt to me.
- I despise green peppers in particular, they take over everything they get close to, and I don't like the flavor to begin with.
- If I eat lettuce or spaghetti they have to be chopped up very small so they don't stick and make me upchuck later (for those who are new, I had a gastric bypass in 2005).
- Any kind of meat I do eat has to have some kind of sauce with it, or I also have issues with them sticking.
- I do not like bone-in or skin on chicken, hate the tendons and bits and weird bones, they make me gag. Most of the time, I prefer not to know what the chicken used it for while they were alive. Pretty much the same with cows, too. Much prefer ground beef to any other kind of beef.
- Won't eat hot spices like peppers, but do like horseradish, especially in cocktail sauce.
- Cooked fruit is generally nasty. I've learned to put some in cookies for the moisture they bring, but will often pick them out as it's like biting into a blister. Urk.
- On the other hand, I crave salt, and can literally sprinkle it on my hand and lick it.
- I crave sugar, as well, but the gastric bypass left me with a bad reaction to it. Still eat it on occasion, but I do it knowing full well I'll pay for it in the end.
- I am also vividly and stinkily lactose intolerant, as well. Unfortunately, lactaid and beano and the like all make me feel like I have to fart and I can't, and it just gets horrible.
That's all I can think of at the moment.
Whoops, really didn't mean to write a book on that one. Any other fussy eaters?
Hopefully a more productive day ahead. Chillier outside than it was yesterday, so I need to get myself occupied inside this morning. The only excitement this week is my second Skyrizi infusion on Friday. Not sure if there's a third one coming or if I'll move to home injections starting in June. Should know before I leave there Friday. The gastro office is not good about making sure their patients know what happens next with their care, so I have to find out where I can.
Later, my punkins,
Lisa in AR
I couldn't read your list the other day ... I was already feeling too sick. I took one quick glance and saw "green peppers", and had to close your spoiler down or I would have been bringing it up!
I can be a bit fussy too.I like most fruit. I've never had durian, so I'm not sure about that one, but everything else I've had is all right. Prefer raw but cooked is OK.
I like most veggies except green peppers (and I'm not so fond of red or yellow or any other kinds of peppers either) and cooked tomatoes (raw is OK). Most other veggies are OK.
I do not like fungus (mushrooms). Nope. Nope. NOPE!
Grain products are good.
Love nuts, but my body isn't keen on them. They're a great way to speed up my digestive system to a mad sprint.
Dairy is similar ... I like certain kinds of hard cheese and yogurt, and they are OK. But not milk, cream, sour cream, butter, soft cheese, or real ice cream. I used to love going to Old Spaghetti Factory and getting the Fettuccine Alfredo followed by cheesecake with ice cream ... but I couldn't even leave the restaurant without the mad sprint. Oh and all milk smells and tastes sour to me. It could be the freshest milk available, but it still smells sour.
As for meat ... I try to avoid most of it. I'll eat a bit of chicken breast and chicken mince. Occasionally I'll have a bit of beef mince. Once in a while I'll have fresh fish at a fish and chips place. That's about it.
I am not keen on most sauces either ... hate BBQ sauce, tomato sauce (ketchup), sweet & sour sauce and that sort of thing. Most of those sort of sauces are too sweet for me. And I don't like it when people try to hide meat in a sauce. I want to see what I'm eating. If I'm faced with that sort of thing, I scrape the sauce off and cut the meat into tiny pieces so I can analyse it.
But I love Indian food because they have many vegetarian options, the sauces are good (not sweet), and they have the same opinion as I do about mushrooms. Mushrooms are considered a dirty fungus, so they're not included. Indian food is a safe food for me.
I also like vegetarian options of Mexican food - rice, refried beans, lots of veggies in a burrito.
I like salt ... but don't often crave sweet.
And I eat basically the same things each day.

Good morning, dear girls. I have 2 whole days of no planned activities. I have a minor drama unfolding. I got locked out of my iPhone this morning. It seems that I may have to reset the little blighter, so not looking forward to that.
Barbie; We had our 21 yo niece stay with us when she came home from N Zealand to live. She was not the best guest, so we were glad we set a time limit on the length of her stay.
Tracey: Well done on getting through your practicum with flying colours by the sound of it. I knew you would be good at it. You’re so empathetic.
Heather: I have a love/hate relationship with bras. They seldom feel comfortable. I also have a broad back, and getting one long enough with my cup size seems impossible. I use bra extenders, but they are still not uber comfy. Even getting professionally fitted didn’t help.
Beth: So pleased for you. I hope things continue to go well.
Yesterday I started planting up my summer containers. Hoping to get some more done if the weather holds.
We are going for a booster tomorrow morning. Also looking forward to having granddaughter home from 20 - 29 May. Younger Grandson is also due to come home sometime next week. It will be great to have them all together again.

Good morning ladies!
Beth so wonderful!
Tracey hope you feel better. You can really make a difference just with a little listening!
Heather so glad you are able to write!
I've been fighting headaches lately. It feels like a consequence of the weather, but I need to get my glasses checked. So draining. It makes me impatient with my dad.
The mowing service has been lousy so far. They only came once, missed most of the fence, and charged me an extra five bucks. The whole point is to keep my dad from doing it, and he did the whole back yard. The front yard looks pretty bad right now because my dad mowed maybe a third of it and the rest is really long. So maybe the service will come back today. It has been quite wet.
I ordered my bras from Amazon. It was a leap of faith, but I'm a larger rib cage with a small cup size too, and forever wireless. So I got one Warner's cloud nine to try, and then got four more. I need to toss the old ones in the back of the drawer.
I read "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" yesterday. An excellent book! Now I've been looking back at my marriage and the seasons of my life. Mostly good, but always some discomfort.
We were part of the change from women as limited people to expanded horizons, and that was challenging. I tried so hard to get a computer security job, got the education and certifications, but nobody would trust a woman for that at the
time. I went through lots of sexual discrimination and harassment. But hopefully I changed expectations somewhat for future generations.
Have a fabulous day! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Morning all
Im going to get dressed and go pick up groceries.
In my defense I drink a 46 oz of ice water 3-4 times a day so that helps ,Ive lost 4 lbs since yesterday..water im sure..next shot is next Wednesday.3 -
I got walk (in a different area), meditation, some writing done. It got up to 99 degrees yesterday and I’m not acclimatized to it yet so was lethargic from the heat. Forgot to do my Duolingo, and didn’t do my yoga. I really need to get more steady with those two! DH made lamb/veggie soup for dinner yesterday with the left over lamb from Sunday. Yummy!!
I am giving up the wine as one glass a day has expanded too much and now I’m gaining weight rather than losing. I know it’s the wine triggering my night-time hunger. Writing it here so I can be accountable.
I was looking into a program on Foodmap and the gut/biome relation to get healthy. Well I went so far as to schedule an informational video when the program manager emailed me to inform me the cost would be $875 A MONTH!!! I thought it was a misprint so laughingly wrote back “$875?? No Thank You.”” It was not a misprint. So will definitely NOT be trying that!! I was looking for a nutritionist that my insurance would cover to help me figure out a proper diet addressing: diabetes/colitis/CKD. Tricky. I made a spreadsheet comparing all 3 and a list of what I can eat meeting all 3. I need to modify it a bit for easy reading, but will post it here when I get it figured out. Since there are no dieticians or nutritionists near me, this is the next best thing. I’ll figure out my own diet and stay with 1200 calories a day or less not adding in exercise. In theory, that should work. Make my own diet plan! LOL.
Kidney doc in a couple hours today and a small shopping for necessities after and PO. Temperature is supposed to be much lower today, in the 70’s, so I can walk when I’m done with the appointment.
My goals I’ve begun mid-May: Duolingo Spanish daily, Yoga 3/5 days a week, Walk more doing one of the trails here, lose the first 10 pounds starting at 186 by August (if not sooner!). Final weight goal is 150. I feel good there but find it hard to stay there!

The diabetes prevention goals look like the goals we all have. We all want to lose weight, get healthier, and keep the weight off. The trick is to do the exercise, eat the right foods, stay away from the wrong foods, and be careful about portion size. Everyone knows that broccoli is better than Ben and Jerry's chocolate therapy ice cream. The problem is how to make myself make the right choice. I'm sure your class will address that soon.

Barbie - yesterday afternoon, our Diabetes Prevention class leader sent out the lesson for next Monday. Details if anyone is interested:The topic will be activity, getting to 150 minutes per week. These days, I get that knocked out in a few days. But I remember a few months ago when I was on limited walking due to my injured foot, I barely got 3,000 steps per day and none of that was at a moderate to high activity level. Maybe 15 minutes on the sitting elliptical was the activity for the day.
I'm intrigued that she's starting us out on activity instead of diet/nutrition. This is a proven plan, has been going on for several years with mostly successful "graduates".
I also like that we self-report our weight and activity level to her each week. I like having accountability on a regular basis, along with guidance if needed. Unlike WW, where I would struggle and feel like a failure if I weighed in at 1/4 # higher than the previous week ..... and once in maintenance would have to pay if I went over the 2# range, this plan is based on positive enforcement. And support.
Beth - that's great news about your implant. Sounds like you are getting the kinks worked out quickly. Hope that continues.
Annie - very good points that our struggles as females making career inroads in traditionally male fields will help other gals in the future. I look at it that way too. Sorry that mowing service is a disappointment. Is there anyone in your neighborhood that has a more reliable one that might need new customers? I know this is a busy time with lawns. Out here, once the mowing slows down, they offer roof cleaning, pressure washing and other services.
Seasons - I haven't thought much about this, perhaps I'm still in Season 1.
Heading out in a bit. Need to get chicken feed, a few things at the grocery, and then meet my friend M for our monthly lunch. I'm looking forward to the Caesar salad at the little restaurant we always go to.
Make it an awesome day!

This is the bra I'm going for. It's the same kind as Annie and Machka wear, I think. Amazon suggested L, but I went for XL, as no one ever understands how wide my back is. I may regret that, but I can send it back I haven't worn a bra for the majority of my life.
Cuddles good. One of my better ideas, to schedule sessions. I have to say, like the painting session on Tuesday, it was the last thing i felt like, but that first step .... . Then John went out to the Co-op for his weekly veg and fruit shop. We are voting with our feet against our local mini Sainsbury, which is always out of stock. I asked him to get British asparagus, which they had. We are having Tandoori chicken tonight, with asparagus, which I call, 'sparrow grass'. Also rice with tomato, and a yoghurt sauce. The shop also had apricots in, which John will cook. Love them. They do very nice sourdough bread.
It looks like our lettuce pot is sprouting, but nothing from the other two yet. Early days. The rain has now dried up. It rained all morning. John went out again and called in at the fish market for smoked haddock, cod, and brown shrimp. They are in the freezer now. I see a kedgeree in my future.

Hello, my chickens, from a grey Arkansas morning...
Only about four hours sleep last night, for no discernible reason, just popped back up at 1:30 a.m. and was wide awake. Read and wrote for a bit, tried to go back to sleep at 3:30, eyes wouldn't close, so got up and cleaned my craft/sewing area.... quilt batting is like Velcro for every bit of schmutz and stray bit of threads, not something you want inside a quilt for all time! Waved Corey off to work and got the pieces of batting cut and assembled with their front and back pieces, ready to free motion quilt on the sewing machine. Got one piece half quilted, and began to nod. Which I'm doing right now, as I've had to write this sentence three times now! Time for a nap, I'm thinking. Nice rainy day for it.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Nutrionist said to eat every 4 hrs as to not get over hungry, and to keep logging the food and aim for walking 10 min a day..its a start.4 -
Still wrestling with the iPhone. Technology is a doozy when it goes wrong.
I almost missed my “School’s Out! lunch out with my Latin Group, I was so focused on fixing it! It was 5 ‘tasting’ courses. At least 2 of them would have been a good dinner 😂 Luckily I am planning a salad tonight.

Beth--So happy for you about the hearing.

Heather - good luck on the bra. I need new ones myself and keep putting it off because it’s the worst thing to shop for.
Terri - I hope you get your order home straightened out. Apple products can be so difficult.
I’m sure DH will be at me in the next week or so to get some planters done. I really don’t want to do it this year, they are expensive and i would rather spend money elsewhere.
Annie - I hope the lawn service has just been off to a bad start and they work out for you.
I find it so hard to believe that women still have to fight for equal pay and rights. I believe there has been change but not nearly enough.
Rita - I love Excel for figuring stuff out like that.
Lisa - I had one of those sleepless nights night before last. Made for a long day yesterday.
Rodger and I are off together for the whole 5 days I have off. Very strange. Michaela is coming for a sleepover Saturday and Sunday nights, she has decided one just isn’t long enough I guess. 😂
Rodger just went to see if he can find a part for the lathe, a fuse had blown, but instead of waiting to make sure that’s what it was when they came in he tried testing the fuse with aluminum foil and fried his switch. 🥴.
He is taking me out for supper tonight for Mother’s Day, I am hoping to convince him to run into the city, there is a sofa on sale at the furniture store that does layaway. I want to go look at it. I swear I’m redoing my living room this summer. I need his help on a few things though so it’s taking longer than I would like it to.
I’m thinking of painting it white. It made such a difference in the rest of the house.
I bought Aspen a little poncho for her birthday last month. Raquel sent me a picture of her wearing it yesterday.
I’ll be back later

Tracey- such a cute picture- thanks for sharing.
Beth- exciting news.
Bras- I am SUPER picky with all clothes but especially bras. I usually don't order online because I need to feel them first. I wear mostly sports bras. Some are for every day and a couple are for class(need extra support for the girls during Zumba).
If the regular sports bras start to get any piling at all on them, I start wearing them inside out. Any little thing and drives me crazy.
Regular bras I wear rarely- have to be cotton lined, NO netting in the middle (WHY do they put that itchy stuff in their)
Skipped going to MIL's again today. Feel bad for the dog but after what she said about me to dh, not feeling like going over there. Refers to me as "that woman" .Asking him why he is always with "that woman"- she told him not to marry me but he didn't listen. Still saying this after almost 32 yrs.
So, I have the morning to myself and as dh was heading over there, he said he was heading up from her house to go have lunch with a friend. I have until 2 to myself.
Going to finish my tea then work in the garden, getting more planted then walk the wetlands for at least an hour before picking Ezie up from school.
So glad to have pretty much all the weeding in the back done. Son helped me Tuesday and I did more yesterday.
From a jungle to ready to plant. Still more clean up to do but both big yard waste containers are full- get picked up in the morning. Then I will clean the rest of the weed piles up and mow the grass. That Bermuda grass is the worst- most is 5-6ft long, one I pulled must have been 10ft long. I put weed block and a sheet of old paneling down under the pots to hopefully slow it down.

A bit chilly now but will warm up some and will be perfect for walking in a few hours.

Well done, Allie! One step at a time. DON'T LET THE PERFECT BE THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD.
Progress is better than perfect.
Dinner was heavenly.
Maigret in French tonight. Hooray! A couple of times the signal has broken up on this minor channel and we have only got a portion of the recorded episode. Tonight's recording seems to have lasted the distance. We love Bruno Cremer as Maigret. Perfect.
I have my phone pre-assessment tomorrow in the late afternoon.

Heather - Whoop! Next step to getting to the surgery. You will be there so soon.
Allie - Well done! Four pounds is four pounds, baby girl. If it doesn't come back, it's four pounds gone.
Rita - $875 a month is seriously wild. Who can afford that? Hope there's good news from the kidney doc.
Tracey - So pleased you made it through your practicum, hope the next five days are awesome with Rodger, and that you feel well throughout. What a sweet picture.
My usual lunchtime call woke me from me falling over asleep at 9:30 a.m., and ended up that we now have my brother-in-law for dinner tomorrow... staying the night and going in to work with Corey on Saturday to meet the boss. Aiming to get hired and stay in the area. I'm not as agitated as I was, Corey knows very well how to give me time to adjust to any change, temporary or not.
Family doings:The landscaping company always needs people this time of year, and the boss, once he meets him and talks to him, is willing to start him like he did Corey, at a lower wage, and then bump him up once he shows his stuff. Took them two days to bump Corey's wage by $2 an hour, two weeks to bump it again, and then 30 days to bump it again. They think a lot of him, and treat him well.
Patrick's the same kind of man, in the working world anyway, as Corey. I honestly don't know him well, I think I've spent a few hours in Pat's company in the last 15 years, not much more. And apparently, he has walked away from the hard liquor as well. He told Corey he hasn't had any in more than six months, so I'm reserving judgment on the other side of things for the moment.
He's got a 22-foot travel trailer that he may need to park on our patch for a bit until he can find a place. I can deal with that a whole lot better than a long-term house guest. Apparently, though, he isn't busted broke, and even so, the company pays weekly, so it should be reasonably short term if he gets hired.
I have little doubt that Corey's boss will hire him. Corey and Patrick are men's men, instantly recognizable to similar males of the species.
One of the things I dug up a couple weeks back, blew up, got printed and hung is a picture of Corey at 17, just before he graduated high school. He was exactly my dream man at the same age, but unfortunately, was in Alaska and nine years younger... Below it is a pic of me that I've hung right next to it, time-lapse, 40 years apart, 1976 and 2016. And they are pixelated - Corey's, in particular, was from his yearbook, and I was blowing up small photos of me to frame them as 8x10s.
Later, babies,
Lisa in AR7 -
Finally saw babies at the wetlands today.
Swans, Canada geese and some little ducks. The picture of the ducks didn't turn out because she was too far away and in a straight line behind mom so couldn't see them.
Not near as many birds around there this year compared to last year. Was great seeing the first babies of the season.
As I was about done walking(rushing because I walked further than usual to see the geese and was running late to pick up Ezie from school), a friend of mine from jr. and sr. high school called me. Haven't heard from her in a long time. She is having more trouble with her eyes so she is no longer able to read text so she decided to call. Only chatted a few min. but will talk again soon.

Debbie ~ What kind of dog does your MIL have? And, WOW, you have a lot of planting going on!
We aren't quite sure what Kobe is- we think some kind of a terrier and chihuahua. He loves going for walks but MIL gets upset because I take him out for too long and was taking him every day. He loves walking but hates going back home.
She is always yelling at him for something- yelling at him to eat, to drink water, to go to bed, etc4 -
Working from home today. I may end up napping at lunch.
I mentioned a neighbour who was playing his radio or TV really loud, with the speaker turned toward an open window, to annoy his neighbour and who yelled and swore at anyone walking past ... the police took him away in handcuffs last night. Housing Services went to inspect his place and he went into a rage, they called an ambulance and he got violent with them, so the police were called and he got violent with them too. After he left, Housing Services spent a long time in his place. He's a hoarder so goodness knows what they encountered. Apparently he has been sending threatening letters to a couple of the neighbours here too.
We're hoping (for our neighbours' sake) that he gets placed elsewhere.
Never a dull moment!

I'm not surprised they focus on exercise. Google 'prediabetes and exercise' and there are articles about how important exercise is.
Also exercise provides a feeling of accomplishment that adjusting the diet just doesn't.

At this morning's PT appointment hit a new personal best of 913 “steps” in 8 minutes on the seated elliptical Came home, made egg salad sandwich on whole wheat, finished yesterday’s artichoke and took a nap. Couldn’t make myself get out into the garden, “too windy” was my excuse but just really lazy.
Barbie “oh boy! Barbie chow again!” Likewise the holiday dinner song. Rotflmao. How long did Jake’s son live with you?

Tina it just stinks that regular folk can’t get tickets at face value but have to pay a middleman’s profit.
Allie my heart goes out to Tracey and Kyle. They will need all the help they can get. Are they planning on joining a support group for parents of special needs babies?
Lanette you are the Diabetes Prevention Program rock star!
Beth “hearing my laugh in digital form ... it sounds like the tickle me Elmo toy. So I laugh and then laugh again hearing my own laughter” Your joy shines out! Halelujah!!!
Rita well done on the spreadsheet, fingers X’d for the dr. appt “I got walk (in a different area)” no kidding!
Tracey what wonderful feedback from the teacher about those 4 girls. Well done! Aspen’s poncho pic
Debbie well done on the garden prep. Jealous of your sunny spot, but unwilling to sacrifice trees for sun.
Machka what a horror story about your hoarding neighbor. Hope your Housing Services are effective. Ours are non-existent.
Today’s gratitude: It’s never too late to start over. There are still 5 hours left today to play balance games, do knee PT and Jeopardy walk to get steps in. Standing up now . . .

Barbara Jake's son came to us at age 16 and stayed until he turned 18 and joined the California Conservation Corps where he learned some skills and got his GED. He attended alternative high school while he lived with us and made it to school daily because Jake drove him to school and picked him up. Another rule we made was that no matter what, he couldn't leave and we couldn't kick him out. It was a stressful time for us. It was right after my mother died so we had moved into her house which gave us enough space for an extra person.
Allie, I hope you can stay focused on your own needs and that Tracy and Kyle can find help and support from others.
Lanette, your diabetes program sounds a lot like the cardiac rehab program that Jake attended at the recommendation of his cardiologist---regular get togethers and lot of info and support for exercise and diet change. It helped him make huge changes in his life.
Heather, thinking good thoughts for you as your surgery gets closer.
Rita, good choice leaving out the wine also getting focused again on exercise.

Debbie - I think your DH should keep his mother’s opinion of you to himself. You don’t need to hear it all of the time.
Lisa - it sounds like your BIL will be easier to handle than you expected. Maybe he can help Corey with that fence project.
Machka - that neighbour is scary sounding.
Barbie - what a great rule, I bet it actually thwarted some issues that could have arisen.
Knowing there’s no out makes people work harder at relationships. In my opinion.
Rodger and I went through way too many bad years. From 2006 to 2018 It seemed that we both threw out that we were leaving way too often, in January 2018 I was packed and ready to leave the only thing that stopped me was that it was so cold the car wouldn’t start. We ended up talking without fighting almost all day. In the end we promised each other that we would never say we were leaving again unless we 100% meant it. It made such a huge difference in our lives. I’m so glad because I can’t picture my life without him.
I ended up going to ceramics and Rodger and I are going out for supper tomorrow instead.
I’m working on a nativity set for Michaela. I don’t remember if I told you the story about me asking her if she had one on New Year’s Eve. She responded with “no, only daddy and me love Jesus”. 😂 It’s not true, but Lauryn and Jonah don’t go to church often so I see where she gets that impression.
Anyway, this is the set I’m doing for her.
There will be a stable too
