@exermom I mainly do strength training. Beaxhbody. Presently doing some CrossFit style and cardio thru a 6 week program called the work.
Today was a good day. Food felt like it was on plan and within calories. I hate tracking every bite all the time. Today I just went off of “am I hungry” and stopped after I was satisfied.
Thanks for the welcome.
Y’all post a lot. I like it!3 -
Barbie - prayers for Jake. And. At least he doesn't have to go in soon.

gratitudes:
Saturday: Joe telling me about Shadow responding to his call, after checking the yard and drive. He’s really becoming more patient with her, understanding her behaviors, even appreciating her devotion to guard duty.
Friday: voted and grateful for the privilege.
Thursday: Did balance games, knee pt yay. Got some steps in, but not enough for the “move more than yesterday” goal. [sigh] Way way way too many sweets before bed, foo.
Barbie you and Jake did better than Joe and I with our nephews. Did you and Jake include his sons when crafting of those rules? We failed to provide nephews with united guidance, only one of our many failures.
Tracey yours to Debbie about her DH and MIL’s opinions of her. Truth.
Lisa ‘but being polite to your neighbors IS still a thing.’ A challenge when they’re burning stinky trash, or (as in our case) firing off “practice rounds” in the middle of the night… Big part of his charm. What a blessing it didn’t make him conceited, arrogant, a jerk, like sooo many of handsome guys. Hooray for the good BIL news!
Heather hooray for comfort! And writing more and more words. And Finley’s safe arrival. Hip hip hooray!
Lanette, when I left Joe, I took the dogs with me. I think initially he was more upset that I took Scooter, than that I left . . .
Margaret, very very very well done. Agree, you can pay the grocer or pay the doctor, your choice. You inspire me to try making my own yoghurt, need some high protein breakfast, don’t like eggs. Just hope it doesn’t plug me up like cottage cheese used to.
Allie well begun is half done! One foot in front of the other.
Rita can you call the Dr and ask why the Jardiance? National cherry cobbler day, yum! Well done on the food research/spreadsheet.
Tracey, before he retired, our appliance repair guy said the same thing about Samsung and LG appliances. Recommended GE or KitchenAid for stoves and Whirlpool for refrigerators. the nativity! What you said about bottling things up, not wanting Joe to be upset with me was my share of our troubles. When we reached the breaking point our counselor gave us a vocabulary, series of code words, to open communication lines in a non threatening productive way. Honestly it was easier for me than quitting smoking, didn’t have to be hospitalized or on oxygen
Annie ((hugs)) Thankful for the kind stranger and the welfare check follow up and that you hid the key. If he asks, can tell him it’s in the shop? Hope the Dr. helps your Dad understand he can no longer drive or walk by himself. Maybe he’ll have recommendations about memory care. Hard times. ((hugs held extra long))
Carol how frustrating and scary! How long does he have to wait to see the gastro? Could they give him the camera tablet immediately?
Debbie it took a straw breaking the camel’s back incident for me and even then I didn’t communicate well, just said “I will NOT!” and left. As awful as it was, it got us to counseling and the last nine years have been so much better than the previous ten.
Michele “Vince found 4 of the kittens” Sorry I must have missed that. Did a queen deliver somewhere on your property? He has a loving heart! How does Shadow do with kittens? Better to be sensitive to chlorine than to sauerkraut. . . imho
Barbie it’s so hard for me to understand not needing treatment yet. It was so pounded into my head that early detection and treatment were the keys to success. Now I wonder if the bean counters are hedging their bets, withholding treatment hoping we’ll “age out”? With me it’s the siren song of B&J’s NY Super Fudge Chunk. . .
Welcome @SherryRueter Sherry in TN. Hop right in wherever. This is a wise, wonderful, supportive group.
Machka thanks for sharing your Grandfather’s and Rowan’s experiences. “The thing is it’s not his fault. He needs protection.” Truth. Will be very hard to do, but truth.
Terri I’d go mad to be without my phone for that many days. Hope you get help to get it fixed soon.
Beth “hurts,” “sucks” and “heart breaking.” “Sleeps all the time?” Is hospice a consideration? ((gentle hugs held extra extra long))
Rebecca glad you were able to simmer chicken. How soon after the floors are done will you get the rest of your kitchen back?
Kim thank you for sharing your info. Knowledge helps to ease the anxiety, even when it’s a shocker. How do you determine which facilities are good?
Flea “scanxiety” great word. Prayers you get a miraculous “all clear.”
Time for balance games and pt before breakfast, then take Shadow early to dog group to work off her tendency to pull. “Leash arm” may have been one of the precursors to the tear in my shoulder.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

The a/c guy was here. As I returned from my walk, he told me that it was a plugged drain so he cleaned out the stoppage and it seems to be fine now. Vince was thinking that he may not be able to go see PJ (I would go) since he needed to be home for the a/c guy, but that’s not the case. He’s Mr. Pessamist whereas I’m Miss Optimist
Barbara – the story of the kittens is that our vet was having lunch at a cemetery next to the practice. It’s just a quiet place for him to go. Anyway, while he was there these 13 kittens came up to him. So he called the office and they came and got them. 3 of them were so bad that he said that if he hadn’t found them, they probably wouldn’t have made it the night. Anyway, Vince had to take Shadow there for an ultrasound and while he was there he saw the kittens. It appears that 2 of them bonded and another 2 bonded (not all 4 together). I can tell that he really wants these kittens. We know that they’ve been well taken care of. They aren’t old enough to adopt yet, they need their shots and all. For all her life, Shadow doesn’t get along with any other cat. Dogs are no problem. She got along with Lance (Jess’ other cat who passed), but no other cat. Poor Clyde (before he passed) wanted to be friends so badly. Shadow would let Loki investigate the room she was in, but under careful scrutiny.
Mcmillionmail – what kind of snacks do you bring on your road trips? I’m always looking for new ideas, maybe you have some
Jess and Colby came here, got Shadow and went back. We had the rice and bean Mexican casserole and I gave the rest to them because there is no way Vince would eat it. I also bought too many bananas (I forgot that we weren’t going to be here part of next week) so I gave a few to Jess.

Michele- great news with the AC guy. It is so nice when something comes out that simple.
I too am married to a Mr. Pessimist. I am usually the optimist but sometimes it does get hard after being around him for so many years(almost 32yrs married-9/19 is our anniversary)
I cut the bushes at MIL's house in her front yard this morning after I walked her dog. I just stayed outside as much as possible, away from her.
Kittens are doing great- very cute and cuddly. Still haven't seen the other two. The mom has stuck around and eats on the porch each evening.

Lisa - how wonderful that Corey’s brother is proving your fears wrong.
Beth - hugs to you.
My grandmother was so concerned about losing everything in the event she needed care she had nothing in her name 4 years before she passed. She never did need care although she chose to move into a boarding house for seniors, they helped with meds, personal care and provided meals.
I’ve read through, but was yawning so much I didn’t take notes. I think I need to go to bed.
Michaela is here for her sleepover, she chose the meal tonight, we had burgers on the BBQ, corn on the cob and strawberry shortcake for dessert. She is a hard little worker, she helped make the biscuits for the shortcake, she cleaned the table after supper and made a good start on the dishes.
She has decided we are going swimming tomorrow. I haven’t been in the pool since my last swim lesson in 2019. I don’t know if I remember how.
She also wants to go buy some flip flops, she has her own money.
I’m off to bed,

Good morning, chicadees. Enjoying a quiet few minutes in the morning sunshine, watching the world go by. I love this time of year when the morning sun wakens me. DH is downstairs making tea.
Barbara: I still have one avenue to explore, then I will go up to Belfast to the Apple Store and see if they can sort it out for me. It a right pain, but at least I can still use the iPad or laptop.
Sherry: It sounds like you have a good plan there.
Michele: Yay! For the a/c guy.
Tracey: Enjoy those times with grandchildren while you can. They grow so quickly.
My darling granddaughter is due home for 9 days tomorrow. We will spend as much time with her as she has available. This afternoon we will visit elder daughter. Younger grandson is due home sometime next week. He’s the least communicative of our grands. 😂

My hearts go out to those dealing with dementia. I read every word you write with compassion and sympathy. I hope your knee is OK Beth. You don't need that on top of everything.
Lisa - Wow! That worked out! So far, so good.
Tracey - Sorry about your no good burger. I make it a rule not to have anything out that I wouldn't or couldn't cook at home. I would certainly have a top quality, char-grilled burger, but a meh one, no thanks. I also have fish and chips, wood-fired sourdough pizza, and charcoal grilled kebab. If I can make it better myself, I can't see the point of spending the money. I know you don't like seafood, but that's another thing I eat out that I rarely do at home. Octopus, mussels, scallops. You have to trust the restaurant, of course! High thruput.
We were very disappointed with our pork last week. And the price!!!! (We didn't choose the restaurant) .
Do you have good places in town? Any great pizza places?I think you deserve another go.
I'm sure Michaela will love the sweet nativity. All the characters are there. I hate it when they miss some out.
Our whole house still smells of kedgeree! It was just fabulous, but far too much of it as John bought an enormous half of fish. One of our favourite things. I add frozen peas to the traditional recipe. I insist on undyed smoked haddock.
I'm spending a lot of time, even in the middle of the night, looking at decor videos. Comfort food for the brain. We won't be doing any decorating! I just need something cheerful to take away the discomfort.

Heather: DH and I rarely eat out these days. We have had so many disappointing meals out that didn’t match up to our home cooking. So many places smother their dishes in rich sauces, often laden with cream which does not agree with my digestive processes. 😜 However, the lunch on Thursday at the restaurant staffed by the catering students at our local college was excellent, although the courses were rather large for a tasting menu. One has to book quite far ahead to get in there.
🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Terri - My son, who used to be in the restaurant trade and is now selling wholesale non-alcoholic drinks, says that times are extremely hard for restaurants. All the places we go to are of long-standing and must be doing something right, but it is so easy to get it wrong. Just a small thing can put you off for ever. For me, a good atmosphere and service is vital. People are voting with their feet at high prices and second-rate food. I am always disgusted by the price of wine, but my son says it is the only thing they make money on. Our European cooks and waiters are disappearing after Brexit. Food costs and fuel costs have doubled. Rents are sky high. I would not want to be a restaurateur at the moment. Hard times.
Love Heather, xxxx who has written 180 words on a Sunday, because she won't be writing tomorrow morning.6 -
I agree with @TerriRichardson112 eating out - while somewhat fun, I have better food at home. So hard to find a restaurant that serves dishes that done put my tummy in distress…..and equally as hard to find one that serves a green veggie ( that is not lettuce) and a fruit. Let alone if you are vegan or vegetarian. I think some people / places are starting to pop up though. I eat / try to / have one-2 meals a day that are vegetarian. Leaving one meal that has some meat in it.4

Good morning ladies! Thank you for all your support and kind words! This forum is my refuge.
Lanette that's more than I thought for a car. Hmm. I was thinking of giving it away as a wedding present for my cousin's daughter but maybe not.
Kim, my sister got a quote here for memory care starting at $6420 a month. I didn't know about the down payment. Thanks!
Debbie Terri and Margaret, yes the adult day care is something for us to look into. There's a limited one in town here and an excellent one 45 mins south in the next county.
Thank you to Lisa Barbara Allie Barbie Flea Ginny Heather and Mcmillonmail (sorry I missed your name) for thinking of me. You are my tribe! It's sad and yet reassuring how many of us are dealing with this.
Flea glad you are getting the scan. More information always helps.
Rebecca hope you get your kitchen back soon!
Barbie I am with you on not buying extra food anymore. My mom used to buy everything they had!
Welcome to Sherry!
May you have a great day, and may you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Good morning from the lovely, cool, Arkansas River Valley,
The boys (DH and DBIL) are just getting up now, and then off to get my DBIL's camper/trailer and drag it to his new temporary home. Corey and I really enjoyed looking at houses for sale online for him last night--it put us in mind of the house hunt that brought us here six years ago now.
Family stuff:Over the last few days, I realized that, in many ways, I've never really known Patrick--not least because I have found out much I didn't know about his now-ended, 27-year marriage. Made much more sense of the man I thought of as a pale shadow of his brother, who drank a lot and didn't say much. Not anymore!
As Thoreau said, "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation." Both he and Corey did that through their first marriages, and when they broke free became much happier people.
He's now utterly, blissfully single and with his three daughters grown and a little money in his pocket, he is feeling truly free to do what he wants, be what he wants and accomplish what HE wants for the first time in more than 30 years.
I was in almost exactly the same place 15 years ago when I met Corey, and I remember how glorious it felt. I was 48 when I left my marriage, and Pat was 49 when his wife bolted--and I had also been married 27 years, and had to figure out who I actually was. I feel as if I'm finally meeting Patrick, rather than the husband or the father. Interesting guy. Hums a lot. Laughs even more.
Then there were the things like him cheerfully helping me set up a couple of planters for my strawberries while Corey was cooking dinner. After we ate, he visibly enjoyed just sitting in the sunroom with us and talking and laughing, watching the hummingbirds and the rest of the birds visit the bird feeders. There's a lot of joy in him, the same thing I sensed and loved in Corey.
So, for those of you ladies who've asked if Corey has a single brother, the answer is now "Yes."
After the two of them leave for their eight- to nine-hour marathon drive into and back from the mountains, I'll get out in this lovely cool morning, get a few things done and then get the lawn mowed. Corey knows I don't mind doing it, and in fact, enjoy it, so he left it for me to do today. Needs doing before noon, though, as it's supposed to be up near 90°F (32°C) by 2 p.m.
Hope it is/was a lovely Sunday for all concerned...
More later, my chickens,

Did Cathe High Step Workout DVD. Also did part of her Hardcore Extreme DVD but decided that I really don’t like it, too high impact and too many fast changes of moves for me to follow. Then went for a walk around the neighborhood. Iced the cake for tomorrow, now getting yogurt ready for the IP, then I’ll probably start to get packed to go to Denise’s.
Debbie – Vince and I have been married 47 years and, honestly, I don’t find his pessimism all that much. I just ignore it and decide that I’m not going to worry about something until there’s something to worry about. Like he was worried that he couldn’t go to PJ’s graduation. To me – let’s wait and find out. As it turns out, he can.
Had too many desserts yesterday but plan to get back on the wagon today.
WalMart seems to have discontinued the shirataki noodles. Boo! I’m going to try another WalMart and if they don’t have them, looks like I’ll have to take a walk to Food Lion to get them.
Terri – when we go out to eat, I usually ask if the vegetables have butter or a sauce on them. If they do I ask them for the veges without the butter/sauce
I’ll bet Vince wants to cut the grass today. Tomorrow is bowling and then ceramics, Tuesday we leave. And if we leave the grass for two weeks, we’ll come home to a jungle.

I drove Dad to church this morning and dropped him off. He said he would either catch a ride home or walk or go out to breakfast. Well after the service he spent half an hour looking for his car before catching a ride home. He was safe the whole time but confused.
I'm looking at a GPS tracker for him. Angelsense seems to be the top brand, so I'm looking to see what might be cheaper. We need a range of about five miles. If he had one, he might have called me. But if he doesn't call me I can't tell that he needs help. We cancelled his phone because he couldn't remember how to use it.
I get upset thinking about him losing his independence. So sad. So then I think about young Corey being so handsome, and his single brother, and I cheer up!

Summer has come early here this year! We had the Topless at Bottomless jeep rally here with over 100 jeeps this year! On top of that, birthday parties and graduation parties at the beach. The temp got up to 102 as well. First triple digit day of the year. Too early! I didn’t have a chance to acclimatize to the 90 degree weather as it skipped the 90’s and jumped into the 100’s!! Allergies messing me up too. Working in the pay booth yesterday wiped me out. I’m still tired, sore, headache and coughing. I think I will beg off working the booth today. They need the help but I just don’t feel up to it. I hate how I get tired so fast these days.
My food yesterday was Corn Flakes with Almond milk and a banana for breakfast, ham beans and mashed cauliflower (DH’s first attempt which turned out awesome!) for dinner, and avocado toast a slice of cheese and 1 slice of bacon for supper. I also had a protein no-cook oatmeal-peanut butter-honey ball for a snack. All told 450 calories over! I’ll have to review to see where I went over the most. I think ham and beans as I had 2 servings. I was starving after working the booth for 3 hours and no food for 6.
I’ll try to do better today. Perhaps the doc is putting me on jardiance to lose weight. That is something I can’t control right now.
RVRita is a hopefully cooler day.4 -
Today is Devil’s Food Cake day!! And some info on Praia.

Lisa - Nothing more crushing to the spirit than a bad marriage. Or even an indifferent marriage. They do say our happiness depends on the five people we are the most close to, so choose your mate and your friends carefully. I hung on to my marriage for far too long. It quite literally is 'soul-destroying '. Life is not a dress rehearsal. Carpe diem. The only mystery to me is, why do we stay so long? And far too many of us do
John went out and bought a few red pelargoniums for our outside pot, and put them in yesterday. He bought the trailing type, but I'm sure it's all fine. I wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. Our lettuce and arugula are sprouting happily in the pots. I just give the orders!
I have a phone call with my friend L at 4 pm. Then put the duck legs in to roast. We've been so fishy recently! Having them with mushy peas and sprouting broccoli. Then stewed apricots.
I had a huge Amazon delivery today. Nearly all things for my health before the op. Cranberry juice, spray unperfumed deodorant, (not allowed to use roll on!), gentle laxative, foot file, etc. I've got to use antiseptic shower gel for 5 days, and nostril cream, and wear clean clothes every day!
Tomorrow is my in person check over. Bloods, MRSA etc.

Good morning from these cuties
They are doing great-haven't seen the other two that the neighbor says are out there.
Up early, fed all the cats in the bedroom and the one in the kitchen then the kittens in the living room. Put them in the big tote to eat while I cleaned their playpen out. I had planned on having them sleep in the tote again last night where they have been sleeping but they were all cozy in the little cat bed in their playpen so I let them sleep.
Church this morning then need to go to Walgreens to pick up an order(laundry soap 4/$10, bought 8). Going through a LOT of it with all the washable pee pads between the kittens(their playpen is lined with them) and the old momma cat that doesn't use a litter box anymore, just the pads and she goes through a LOT of them daily. Then to FoodMaxx- need chicken to cook for the cats and maybe some for me along with some ribs that dh wants. We picked up some marinate yesterday that he wants to try.
Ordered the galvanized raised beds from Amazon yesterday- half price so only $19.99- ordered 4 so will be moving pots, cleaning that area up and setting up the new raised beds this week. Not as deep as the pots I have been using but these will look so much nicer than the black pots. I will still use them just not right up front.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1SN6ZWC?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
Going to make another cup of tea and catch up here then get ready for church. Have one hour until I need to leave.

Beth - wow, what an ordeal with your mom. Sadly astounding at how goofed up the medical system was. Sending big hugs and hope your knee feels better.
Annie - hugs to you as well. Lots of good ideas being shared here about how to best deal with your dad. If you were to find a buyer for his car, would he be able to sign the title over to someone if it's in his name?
Ginny - sorry to hear about your brother, glad you were able to have dinner with him. My DH's delirium was a shocker - I'm guessing he had a UTI which got getter on its own, but that episode did make his memory loss a bit worse overall.
They say this getting old isn't for sissies and I agree!!
Lisa - so happy things are working out well for Patrick and you are getting to know him better and enjoying him. Corey is and will be a good influence on him. Nice to have a couple like minded brothers when it's time to get things done around your place. Oh, and I was going to comment - someone in my neighborhood decided to do a sneaky garbage/plastic burn early yesterday morning. . Hope someone spoke to them about it, it used to happen a lot up until a few years ago. The air settles and the burn can be 1/2 mile away and we still get the stench.
Rita - thanks for sharing your food list, I can use it. Love that your husband is such a wonderful cook. Does he make up recipes, have years of experience and/or just looks things up on the internet a lot? I wouldn't get along with the high temperatures you are having. Sorry about your allergies, pollen is bad here too.
Debbie - those kittens are too cute. You are such a great kitty mom. Nice deal on those galvanized planters - how did you get them at half price?
Reminder - Weekly check-in tomorrow.

Hi Gals,
Heather – I wasn’t familiar with kedgeree so looked it up, it looked good but never remembered seeing smoked haddock at a store near me – some goggling and it has to be ordered at a pretty high price, it would be a very special occasion food at my house. The only smoked fish I could find locally is salmon.
Lisa – so delighted to hear how wonderfully it is working out with Patrick.
Rita – you do such a great job of figuring out what you need to be healthy and making it happen – you are inspiring.
Allie – you can do this! Baby steps. No one gets out of shape and heavier than they want to be overnight and we don’t get to our ideal weight and in shape quick, it all takes time.
Eating out - Always been a treat in my world, but it is so expensive. I get that things have gone up for restaurants but is really gotten crazy. I am thankful I can and like to cook.
Annie - there may not be a down payment in your area. But that and the length of the waiting list were eye openers for me.
Someone asked how I figured out which care facility was good. I did a few things, goggled it with the name of the place and reviews, name of the place and complaints, checked Facebook, especially looking for comments that were not from the staff of the place. Looked up heath department info. They are all licensed – is it in good standing. Called do they answer? Do they return calls? Then was a tour, if and made sure to “need” the bathroom some where away from the main entrance, I was looking for upkeep and cleanliness and I wanted to see everything… they have a beauty salon, can I see it? They have a gym can I see it? Asked everyone I could think of what they knew about the senior living locations. Of course, eliminating as I went. Then I found a place to park nearby and watched. Did folks coming and going seem happy, were residents getting outside, and did staff wear uniforms or could I recognize a couple of them. Then if I saw them going to any of the stores locally, I followed them and got in line or starting looking at something near them and struck up a conversation. Folks love to talk and if they have stuff to complain about regarding the place they work it doesn’t take long to get them to tell you. It is a research project, but it is hard enough to move a senior once, I knew I did not want to do it twice.
Thinking of you all,
Kim in N. California

Terri - how true about how fast the grands grow, I think it’s faster than our children truthfully. I’m really noticing it with Jonah, he will be 13 on our birthday this year.
Heather - that’s a good rule, we don’t go out very often, I think this was the first time since last summer. I don’t particularly care for pizza in restaurants anymore, I prefer my own. I can’t get a burger to taste the way that burger at the truck stop in NB tastes. I have been thinking about it and maybe it’s the beef that’s different. Funny how it all works.
Lisa - it’s wonderful that you’ve gotten to know the true Patrick over the last few days. It sounds like he’s getting to know himself too.
Annie - hugs to you. Such a hard situation you are in.
Kim - that’s some thorough investigating. We don’t have many options here, but even private ones are regulated by the government.
I also found that the families that complained the loudest about anything were also the ones that just blew in, listened to every complaint that their loved one with dementia said, didn’t investigate for truth or not and then didn’t visit again for weeks or months. I don’t think that people with dementia and Alzheimer’s lie, their reality is just different. My Mom tells me my brother moved “up the hill in town” every time we talk, he has never moved. I just go along with her and tell her I hope he’s settled in.
Even with all of my complaints as an employee there, I would put my mom there because I know they take very good care of the residents and have their best interests at heart. I wouldn’t move my mom though, she is happy and content where she is and it would be unfair to move her at this stage.
Michaela has been asking me every 10 minutes when we can go swimming. It is quite cold out today and I’m sorry we are going, it will be cold coming out.
We may leave a little early to go buy her a hoodie, she didn’t bring anything to wear that is warm. She looked at the weather and thought it would be warm.
We are having homemade pizza for supper.
I may buy a cake for dessert.

Remember those four kittens I was telling you about that the vet found? Well, a few weeks ago we had asked Jess to be on the lookout for orange male cats (she volunteers at a shelter – something to do with helping to pay her student loans). Anyway, she called and wanted to facetime with Vince (huh?). It seems that they had 2 male orange kittens and she knows Vince is a real softie. One part of me feels bad because we committed to taking 4 kittens from the vet, but the other part of me feels bad telling Jess “thanks, but no thanks, we know you went out of your way”. So...what we’re going to do is take 2 cats from the vet and those 2 orange ones. Vince is sure that when he explains things to the vet’s office, they’ll understand. Jess thinks we can take all 6, but I don’t think so.
Debbie – thanks for the link about the raised beds. A gardener I am not, but I wonder if something like that wouldn’t work for the rebar that we have for the christmas decorations. I gotta run it by Vince, if it would be sturdy enough. It doesn’t look like it has any kind of bottom, but we might be able to make something that’ll do. Maybe?????
Going to cut the grass (what did I tell you? Only we won’t do a complete job, just enough so that when we come back we aren’t coming back to a jungle.)

Hey guys,
I'm back inside for the afternoon, too warm here already at 1 p.m. for me to work outside. That's OK, I got plenty done, including mowing the couple acres right around the house, front and back. I can get out and mow the other two acres tomorrow after the sun comes up and dries the dew, and before it gets too hot.
Before I mowed, I cleared the last patch beside one of the sheds that had gotten grown up. 60 minutes, 360 calories. Pleased with that. Even at only 75 to 80 degrees, with 80 percent humidity, I was literally dripping with sweat. I lost two pounds just from sweating - and I drank more than 24 ounces of fluid before, during and after!
Annie - Just for you, a picture of my boys this morning. Patrick's smile is the one blazing out on the left, which you probably knew from various pics of Corey I've posted in years past. I think he's 52 or 53. Corey's really looking forward to having him helping out at work. He's been asking for that kind of help for some time.
They should be back in another hour or two. It's been a really busy weekend for us. I'm calling it good - talking to y'all, watching TV and chilling.
Lanette, Tracey, Kim and everyone who commented--I'm ordinarily an optimist, but definitely wasn't in this instance. It was such a pleasure to to be wrong in what kind of person Patrick really is. I didn't know how much I didn't know about the man. So pleased, since he's staying in the area, that it all turned out better than I thought it would.
Heather - Part of me wonders why I didn't leave sooner from my first marriage, but I have no regrets... I think was living, too, that in that same "quiet desperation." I didn't think enough of myself to believe I was worth more. I left when I was mentally and emotionally ready--I don't think I would have been ready for who Corey was had I left any earlier.
Warm hugs and kind words to those who need them.
Love,
