@quilteryoyo I’m a bit late but I like Cardiac Crest.
@martaindale Following ur recommendation I’ve watch a few episodes so far of the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders & yes it’s interesting. I have to admit I had put cheerleaders in same category as beauty pageants queens.

Shoot. I had part of a post typed and went to look back a page and apparently forgot to save it, so it's gone. Darn it. And I was so insightful too.
You're doing great @henridw2095 .
@martaindale Great running in those conditions. Some days I just want to be outside, regardless of the temperatures. Some days not so much. I'd probably use the treadmill, but you know how you felt today and whether you think you can do that plus three miles in the same conditions.
Sounds like you on vacation @yirara . I must have missed that post. Enjoy your sightseeing tomorrow and great running today.
@kgirlhart Happy Birthday to your mom. I'm glad she was surprised and you all enjoyed the sleep over at the lake. That is a lot of cats. Do they have a catch/spay/release program there? It sounds like that is what is needed.
Nice run @Laurz9191 . That's funny about the cyclists. Oooops about being late for work.
Nice running @mari333a . Those storms sound really strong. I hope you didn't have any property damage.

I went to the gym this morning. Nothing new.
I had some on-line training I needed to do for the day care job. It was supposed to have been done last month, but really, really needs to be done before the state licensing visit in early Aug. Since I'm going to be really busy most of July and this week was fairly appointment free, I decided to get it done. I did 3 training sessions earlier in the week and had two left. Thankfully, we do get paid to take them (minimum wage). So, I figured out that I could fold my computer (it's a Lenovo Yoga) and set it on the treadmill console securely. I made the print bigger so I could read it easier and walked while I did the training on detecting and reporting child abuse. I finished the session at a little over 4.5 miles into the walk. I finished up the 5 miles before taking the test. Total time was 1h19m06s. Multitasking at it's best.
Proof under the spoiler that I sweat a lot and at "nothing."
My shirt after WALKING 5 miles on the treadmill in the Air Conditioning.7 -
@quilteryoyo @martaindale I thought it was fairly normal to prohibit hydration vests. They don't exactly look safe in a public event given some history in the US. To quote the rules, they don't allow CamelBak type vests. The language seems to imply no hydration vests since they exclusively list things like bottles being safe.
Also, yes. It really does feel like being called in to the principal's office! Especially when the clients are those whose risk we measure on a scale of 100s of millions of dollars.
I've been very out of it this week. 7 miles completed so far. No speed work. Thursday morning my body was primed to run so I did a Z2 run.

Not exactly fun either. Maybe I should just bring a metronome again and play the cadence game.
5 Mile run or 6 mile pacer tomorrow--I forget which. Then long run Sunday. I went to the arcade today totally thinking I would kill it. Absolutely not. The pads were sticky, I kept tripping on the brackets in between the step panels which threw off my timing and made the holes in my shoes bigger! I should've brought baby powder. Did a cycle of streams to help develop twitch muscles. They felt twitchier two weeks ago. I am sad.

Neighborhood 1Mile (at 12"18 pace). streak day 59
The first GLP-1 arrived today. We'll see what happens.8 -
Good morning everyone!
I ran a very comfortable 9km this morning to probably end the month. 203.9/200km for June. It was very enjoyable and a nice way to start the weekend.3 -
Morning all.
Got in 6.24 at 09"40.
@quilteryoyo sweaty 🥵
@Laurz9191 well done on crossing 200k
@chris_in_cal well done on streak!6 -
Sorry you are sad @VO2Maxlet . Maybe you need a rest day since you are ramping up the mileage so much. I hope today's run goes better for you. Re work - yeah, you don't want to be messing up on that account.
Great running @chris_in_cal . I hope the meds work for you.
Great running @Laurz9191 ! Congrats on exceeding your goal.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA .3 -
@quilteryoyo We don't have any kind of spay and release program for cats. I wish we did because even though I like cats, they are a problem.3

Ha, no! Not again. Been on so many trips this year. Just a Saturday ride and then walk to an area some 50 minutes from home.4 -
@Mari33a I'm happy to hear you are liking the DCC documentary. Growing up in TX, cheerleading is an institution but professional cheerleading is a whole other thing. The level of competition is nuts!2

So Saturday is a rest day for me this week, timed because we flew to Rarotonga first thing. Now we’re here, I’ve just woken up but it’s Saturday again, so, another rest day… 😜

70.70/80.0 mile goal
Mom and I trimmed trees along my driveway again. Three more Gator loads taken to the pile. It will probably take us 2 or 3 more days to finally get it done. A celebration will be in order when we do.
When we finished, I went out for a wun on the driveway. I thought about just doing one mile because I was short on time and energy, but wound up doing two.
Mom and I are heading out soon to my Aunt's house for a 4th of July party and to watch the parade that goes right past her house. It'll be a late night.
Non running stuff in the spoiler. This is the Aunt that broke her hip. She checked herself out of rehab today. We're not sure that is the best idea since the plan had been for her to stay until the 4th. She's doing well with the hip, but the underlying cause of her falling has not been figured out yet.
Well, they are almost sure it was because she was very anemic. They are pretty sure she is losing blood somewhere, but they don't know where. When she went in the hospital, her red blood cell count was 4 - it's supposed to be 12. The doctor said that it had happened over a long enough period of time that her body had the time to adjust. If you go from normal to 4 (not sure what the units are) quickly your body will go into shock. She was surprised my Aunt had been able to go bowling the week she fell (before she fell, of course.) They gave her 4 units of blood and 3 IVs of iron while she was in the hospital.
It's interesting that another of my mom's sisters had the same issue. She was in the hospital getting units of blood a lot, but they never did find out what was causing it. I guess I'd better be vigilant, since it may be something that is genetic. At least mom hasn't had any issues with it.
Her daughter was planning to work on finding someone to be with my Aunt for a few weeks, get her a primary care physician set up, and order some home equipment next week. Now, she is coming home with none of that in place. The daughter was a little upset with her mom. I really don't blame her. The concern is that she might fall again and that would be disastrous, esp if there is no one there to help her get back up or call for help.5 -

Long run on the treadmill this morning. Conditions were terrible and then my watch called the dew point "oppressive". Decision made.
I did the longest run in the Japan series. It was on the nakasendo trail, which stretches over 300 miles through Japan. So beautiful! If I end up near the trail at some point during my trip I would love to get a run or two in.
That's it for June. Glad I got my goal. It feels good to be back to my usual routine. I think my yearly goal is a long shot at this point but that's ok. I needed some time off earlier this year and the illness was unexpected. Running is something I want to keep doing long-term so I have to keep in mind that goals sometimes require adjustment.6 -

I can't believe that @kgirlhart sees THAT many cats on her runs! Crazy.
June has been a pretty decent month and I feel strong as we head into the last day. I will hit 120 out of a 100 goal but my secret push was to try to avg 4 miles per day.
Thanks for posting July @AlphaHowls

As of today, I hit my 40-mile goal with today’s 3.8-mile treadmill walk/run & I have my 10K race tomorrow. 🙌🏾 Next month, I have a goal of 50 miles. I’m so excited 😆

@martaindale Great treadmill run! I hope you are able to run the trail in person. That would be cool. Congrats on reaching your month goal and glad you are feeling more like yourself again.
Enjoy your vacation @ContraryMaryMary . Very pretty there!
Congrats on your miles @SummerSkier . You did great this month!
Great job on meeting your monthly goal @steviebee888 . Good luck on your 10K today. Looking forward to hearing how it goes.
What a cool place to hike to @chris_in_cal . Who is your partner in crime?
Great running @tarun_yadavA ! I love how you snuck in the 200 miles you did last month again. Congrats on 180+ for this month.

@ContraryMaryMary crossing the date line?! That's cool. Enjoy your trip!
@quilteryoyo hahahaha! Unintentional sneak-in there; good spot! 😂4 -
Finishing the weekend strong and hope to keep it up for July
Another hot humid run but felt stronger and planned for 4 and got 5.4 in
Comparing progress to last year it looks like I am exactly on target to match the walking/running intentional miles of 2096 in 2023 total. Currently at 1051 with 759 running and 292 walking for the first half. I think I would like to try for 1600 miles for the year running but we shall see how things go. Happy to be playing tennis a couple times a week as well again this month.
7 -
@quilteryoyo I've been thinking so on rest but I need the mileage. My initial thought process was, if TRIMP or injury metrics are based on distance and HR, then if I pick a god and pray the HR is more weighted than the distance, I can decrease my risk for injury. This picture just tells me I'm overdue for an injury but so far I'm feeling really good. No hip pain, knee pain, or front quad pain. I've exchanged that all for boredom with these Z2 runs
@ContraryMaryMary this is the actual cheat for giving yourself more time to rest. Need to adopt this strategy. Definitely enjoy!
@tarun_yadavA I aspire to get to this conservative mileage. Nice job!
@chris_in_cal awesome view. Mountain trail runs are no joke. Congrats!
2 -
5 miler at Z2 yesterday. Super humid. I felt like I was dying and ran out of water during my last mile (luckily). Felt okay. I kept getting more angry at my HR level increasing out of zone. I recall this being a lot harder than it used to be when I did the Garmin 10K training which is an improvement, I hope.
Avg 125 BPM
Max HR 140
Avg 159 SPM cadence
11 miler today. Will be doing it at Z2 so I don't disturb the injury risk metric.6 -
Very grateful for the cooler temperatures today for my 10K. Now, for a shower and a nap 😴. Enjoy the rest of your day, everyone!
