I went out to eat for my birthday and only ate 5 french fries. I usually can't stop with fries so I don't order them at all. But I was able to have a taste and enjoy a small amount.

As someone who only eats french fries occasionally that is brilliant.

Mine's a confidence one. Last week on holiday we went out on sea kayaks. I was a bit nervous as had never done it, although have canoed on rivers. Hubby and son were in one, I was on my own in another. Son has autism and he was nervous about getting in I held his kayak while he got in. By the time I'd gone back and got mine into the shallows everyone else was about 15m out (tide was in so very shallow for quite a way). Even though it was not very rough I just couldn't get my head round how I was going to get into the kayak without it tipping over, and the more I thought about it the more freaked I got, and there was no-one nearby. A couple of years ago I would have given up at that point and just said "oh I just decided not to do it" and sat on the shore. I took a deep breath, and shouted to the instructor that I needed a hand. At that moment someone came from the shore to help, and then the instructor came back. I got in and was off.
So the NSV is that I didn't give up, I asked for help (even though it was a bit embarrassing) and then confessed to the instructor I was nervous. I felt the fear - and then I did it anyway - when in the past I would have given up! I really enjoyed the session after that!

Well done and keep going with that attitude.
  • I CAN FIT SMALLS NOW! :D My size 9/10 jeans are loose too! I can fit smalls WITHOUT tanks under them for extra "layering" to keeps a few Oklahoma rolls from showing :P
No extra help, just one layer, and that layer is a SMALL! Ahhh So happy. I started at a size 12/14 in jeans, and a size XL in shirts!
On days I don't feel like going on, I just remind myself this, and remind myself that I have come a lot further than I have to go.
  • I needed a new pair of pants for curling. I found the perfect pair on the rack at Target, crammed in among dozens of other pairs that all matched one another but not this one. I looked at the tag and they were XL. The reason they didn't match any of the other pants on the men's rack was they'd been misplaced from the boy's section.

I comfortably fit in a pair of pants made for a teenager. A husky, tall teenager, but a teenager nonetheless.

I also bought two pairs of 30-inch waisted jeans off the clearance rack while I was there.

I was eating my home brought lunch of chicken salad and my coworker at my new job (whom never saw my "fatness") said I eat really healthy. I told her I was trying to watch my diet.

Next thing she said was, "...but you're skinny!"

I almost cried on my lunch. First time ever someone used the word "skinny" and applied it to me. *sobbingtearsofjoy*

I went to a local amusement park and was able to ride a wooden roller coaster without it killing my hips and butt! Last time I rode it I had bruises from the tightness of the seat. Not this time! I actually slid around a bit in the seat.
Also, for the first time in my life I tubed down a water slide. I've always had a 'fear' of getting stuck in the tube (like that kid in Willy Wonka)! I don't have that fear anymore.

I went ice skating this afternoon for the first time since February. I skated non-stop at a brisk pace for 30 minutes straight (followed by a 10 min. zamboni break). Then I skated again at a good pace for another 18 minutes straight.

I'm so happy! Early last year I couldn't ice skate for more than 5 minutes at a time without getting winded and needing a break.

Now tonight after skating for 50 minutes and doing a Jillian Michaels video early this morning I'm not tired, sore or exhausted at all plus I burned 748 calories today. :)

Mine is only small but on my Lunch hour I walk two miles and normally it takes between 39 to 40 minutes but the last two days I have been under 39 Minutes 38:45 and 38:06. I was so closte to breaking 38 mins. yesterday when I didn't even feel like doing my walk. I am jelious of those who can run but at 414 lbs I well I am doing good at 3 mph.

I think you're doing awesome! It would take me this same amount of time to walk two miles and I weight much less. I have a friend who probably weighs about what you do and she can only get around using a mobility scooter. Way to go!

The pants I bought in Feb to wear on holiday are absolutely huge now. I will have to take them to the charity shop.
When I bought them I was so delighted to get into them, (they are black straight leg jeans), because I hadn't worn jeans for 23 years. I had loads of photos taken on holiday strutting my stuff. Now I can take them off without undoing them!

I have just bought some "treggings" on line and hope to wear them out. They are 2 sizes smaller than the jeans.

This morning I beat my pb for a plank. 2mins 40 secs now. A year ago I couldn't even heave myself off the floor!

Jeans and capris that were tight when I joined first week of July are now too big to wear, I fit easily into the next size down and the size below that, I can zip them up but wouldn't want to wear them out until I am down a few more pounds. But I can get them on, so two sizes since July is pretty exciting stuff for me.

Those tight pants were a big motivator for me joining MFP.
