    Dec. 15th, Sleep and Meals

So sleep sucked. It took 2 hrs plus to fall asleep and I had less than an hour of deep sleep. I hate insomnia. 7pfcgj3spzuv.jpeg my meals on the other hand were great. I cooked a small prime rib for myself and that is what I ate. Stayed under calories but I only guessed at the ounces because I forgot to measure. 8tpjon5jqua4.jpeg
The scale was down 1 pound. So I’m happy.

LOL’ing at Jacques & his granddaughter flipping crepes tonight…
My cousin & his wife successfully caught the semi-feral dog & delivered her to my clinic for her surgery mañana. Dee brought beef stew, spaetzle, & a very rich chocolatey-brownie creation. I only had like 2 T of the spaetzle (pure carbs!) but a brownie square also. Oh well, I’ll take the leftovers to my girls mañana.

I used to be a real carboholic - still eat more than I should! - but I’m happy to say the cravings are nowhere near as bad as in years past.

My sleep last night was fairly decent - pretty good for the first half with restlessness in the early morning hours. And, as I mentioned, diet was indulgent so no surprise that the scales are up 2 lbs this morning…
I woke up to the text and I’ll be shorthanded again today. I understand that K is struggling after losing her mom 3 wks ago. They did not have any funeral/memorial service which of course is not for the deceased but for the living family members left behind. (Dana was cremated and she had some memorial jewelry made) I’m glad that my mother’s arrangements are all pre-made; I’ll just have to go through the motions.

    Dec 16th. Meals and Sleep

Meals yesterday were good. Left over prime rib. I also had cheese sticks only because the weather here sucked and I hurt everywhere so I wanted to take Aleve and you need to take it with something in your stomach. odyuvxneop9c.jpeg Sleep wasn’t as good as I would want but it was better than the night before. My weight is hooding at 223. Which is better but not as good as the start of October. slxbpdc3ptax.jpeg

Since getting up this morning I’ve been accomplishing several things. One blood work done. ECG. An X-ray on my shoulder. Tomorrow I am having ultrasound on my shoulder.

I went to get some groceries. More frozen dinners. I got my lotto tickets for the first half of the week.

Here we are, 1 week before Christmas - ho ho ho!?! (I’m noping out). My car has another coolant leak so I’ll see about dropping it off at mechanic’s this afternoon; let’s hope it’s nothing too tragic. Heard nothing from my son during his “weekend” (he’s off Mon/Tues, then he forewarned me he’ll be working 12 days straight - his own version of The 12 Days of Xmas!?!), and we’re having our clinic Xmas dinner tonight with my staff…

    Your day sounds very busy.

I had my ultrasound today on my shoulder. My Dr. called to say my blood work came back great. My cholesterol is just below borderline and since I’m losing weight she doesn’t expect it to get worse and the ECG came back fine and now we have a baseline in case my heart rate goes low like my dad‘s dead. He was in a 70s and his heart rate dropped down to 30. I’m 10 years from being 70 so it’s good to have that baseline.

    Dec. 17th. Meals and sleep.

Yesterday I only ate the one time. I had four fillets of fish. They were breaded though, but that’s I ate. I did however, have three alcoholic drinks. They were really good. I have to special order my Tia Maria for pick up so I’ve ordered four bottles. I’m hoping that I’ll get me through Christmas and New Year’s.mxawh0qyqngm.jpeg. Sleep on the other hand was awesome. I fell asleep pretty fast and according to my Fitbit I got over two hours of deep sleep. I can’t tell you how much I needed that deep sleep. I got a sleep score of 91. I don’t think I’ve ever had a sleep score that high before. ojyv9s040hck.jpeg

    Dec. 18th. Meals & Sleep.

I made homemade chicken vegetable soup. I made it from six chicken thighs, two onions, the sweet kind, celery, and carrots. I ate it for brunch and supper. I have no idea if the calories are correct. I don’t know how to breakdown my homemade soup into calories.1l2fkpddewso.jpeg
Sleep was good. I got a score of 90. Got over two hours of deep sleep. And 11 hours total of sleep. My personal experience with this sleep is something a little different. The first two hours felt like I was falling asleep not actually asleep. Then I got up to pee, and then after that, I think I slept solidly until I had to pee this morning.jt0hrwyawj0n.jpeg

I scored an 85 last night, which is about the highest for me… I lounged around that last hour & a half or so, just snuggling with the little dogs, not fully asleep. But I was holding really still since Izzy had her head on my forearm, I didn’t want to disturb her ;-)
Dropped my car off with mechanic this morning, hoping he doesn’t find anything serious but he’s pressure testing everything so it won’t be ready until tomorrow.
I’m fasting today since we stuffed our faces at my clinic Christmas dinner last night which hasn’t been difficult at all, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Just starting to feel a few pangs so I’ll probably defrost a steak to go full carnivore.
Those calories look high to me for chicken soup as long as you didn’t add any oil or butter?? 6 chicken thighs should be about 600 calories, the vegetables are negligible

I’m pleasantly surprised that my ol’ carcass does work correctly sometimes if it’s given the proper tools: my weight is down 2 lbs this morning after a single day of intermittent fasting so I’m back down to 191.
But what isn’t cooperating this morning is my coffee maker I always set it to brew “strong”, but my coffee came out very weak & watery this morning - I had to add some espresso powder!

    Dec. 19. Meals and sleep

My meals were higher in carbs but under calories. srbh0abu8h69.jpeg Sleep on the other hand was good but not great. I woke up in the middle of the night having to pee and it took quite a while to fall back to sleep and that’s what it shows my restlessness in the middle of the night. But I still got a score of 80. I had over an hours worth of deep sleep.adryghuq9qnf.jpeg

Well, let we just saying I am not a fan of the “quick n’ easy, cook a steak in your air fryer” method I read about somewhere!
I had read about popping a frozen steak in the air fryer & cooking it in about 20 minutes but that did not out work for me… I had to finish it off on the grill and it seem to toughen the meat besides. The dogs got a few bites but I was not wasting a $20 ribeye.
Zach called me last night for a nice long chat since V was working (I never know when these little opportunities are going to crop up) - V’s grandfather is not doing well, his cervical vertebrae as well as his esophagus are damaged from his radiation treatments & the VA says nothing more can be done, he’ll never be able to discontinue that feeding tube. All week long they’ve been pushing back releasing him so I don’t know what the long or even the short-term plans are now??
We have lined up extra nursing care, PT & occupational therapy for my mom, but I’m doubtful as to how much meaningful recovery we can expect for her either. She is so weak & frail.
Zach is doing his own “12 Days of Xmas” since he’s scheduled for 12 days straight including Christmas Day, but hopefully he’ll be done by noon’ish so I’ll get to see him Christmas afternoon? Let us hope - a few more of the items I mail ordered have been trickling in. I got Z some night vision binoculars & a portable coffee press that I saw advertised on FB. I still need to get tokens for V’s grandparents & my mom…

Izzy claimed that prime “center lap real estate” this morning 😊❤️💕
