Wow. That is awesome. I’m slowly packing my house up. I cry a little, curse a little, and pack some more. Im trying g to stay good but I like to drown my sorrows in cake and chocolate.

Geez, I’m sorry honey. Do you have a move-out date? The movers finally delivered my cousin’s stuff which took 2 1/2 weeks… Now, of course she’s got a tremendous amount of work to do, furniture was damaged, etc.
Did you do anything for Mother’s Day? Zach & Victoria & I wound up going to Andretti‘s Go-Carts & gaming… If I had known that’s where we ended up, I wouldn’t have worn a dress, but I borrowed a pair of shorts from Victoria so I didn’t flash everyone climbing in & out of the go-kart!
I’m scheduled tomorrow night to go do my sleep study which I’m really not looking forward to, but I hope it yields good information & more importantly, some therapeutic options. Last night I stayed up too late, which always throws me off with trouble getting to sleep.

I had an uneventful Mother’s Day. My son came to stay with me for the weekend that is turning into a week. His tire is flat and I have a flat on my lawnmower. Davey too them to our tire guy who is really busy right now and will call us when he gets to our tires.
My sleep was pretty good last night
food has been better. I’m trying to stick to the plan.

My weight has bumped up 2 lbs since I ate Italian at our meeting last night (spinach & artichoke dip, lasagne)
Hoping I’m exhausted enough to “sleep” at the sleep lab tonight so we get some good data… Still scheming about how to smuggle a lil’ dog in 😉😜😂 as I soak up a few more precious minutes with ‘em.

I can’t wait to hear how the sleep study goes. Your part and what they find.

I’m too tired to post coherently about my sleep study right now - let’s just say 0/10, do not recommend! I didn’t get any sleep in the sleep lab, finally packed it in at 2 AM** to come home & get a few hours’ sleep in my own bed before my other doctor’s appointment. I thought I was being so damn efficient, having my follow-up appointment with my GP this morning & then trekking across town to go back to the dermatologist this afternoon.
** to quote from Cool Hand Luke: what we have here is a failure to communicate! While I was anticipating a night of data collection - they did wire me up with all the electrodes & chest strap, their stated purpose was to get me fitted with a CPAP device… I don’t think there’s any way I could ever be comfortable enough to sleep in one of those contraptions, but I did give it the old college try: I laid there for two hours with the first model (which was supposed to be the most comfortable) then tried the other two for respectively about an hour each.My FitBit is a damn liar - I know I didn’t get any deep sleep, although I may have dozed lightly a little bit. I listened to my meditation app and then a yoga nidra video…
My at home stretch looks pretty miserable, but believe me it was infinitely more restful than the sleep lab - I think I was just holding extremely still for them because of all the wires!
Again, “Fair” in a pig’s eye! I would’ve scored it about a 38; getting ready to stagger off the bed right now…

I’m sorry the sleep lab wasn’t what you thought it was suppose to be. I hope you got lots of sleep the next day.
My sleep was broken up last night. I don’t think it was great0 -
Yep; while fortunately on Thursday night I actually got a decent night’s sleep, I still feel as if I’m recovering from my so-called sleep study - dragging around these past couple of mornings like the walking dead! I forced myself to get out & go for a short ride yesterday morning, but then I basically came home & laid around like a slug until we went to a friend’s BBQ last night. We came back home by 9:00, definitely not among the party animals.
I’m angry at myself - with all the lapses in my diet, my A1c has crept back up to 6.1. A year’s worth of progress, gone like that! So today shall be a day of fasting & repentance…

You can get it back down. You will just have to be diligent. The older we get the longer it takes us to get anything done

It felt weird to buy Prime beef at Walmart - I picked out two nice-looking ribeyes & grilled them for us last night; they turned out pretty good. Hubby’s chore was to roast us some new potatoes, which he did in the air fryer - these also turned out good but I only ate two of ‘em…
I’ve been following lady a little older than me on Twitter, who has rebuilt her health with a carnivore diet. “Just 10 more steps” is her motto, but she’s now weight training & taking long hikes - she looks fabulous & is a good role model for sure!

I like the carnivore diet. It works for me. When I’m not stressed

Sorry about the blank comments, I was trying to fix the link for Mimi?? Didn’t have the energy to take 10 more steps towards anything last night - I basically collapsed in my recliner (again), but I did a few stretches on my yoga mat this morning… That’s gotta count for something!
Marinating some chicken thighs to grill tonight - one small step I can take is getting back in the habit of cooking at home.
0 -
My son has left and I’m now by myself again. I also will take baby steps to get back to where I was before October. I have my annual check next Friday.
0 -
Baby steps are certainly all I’m capable of right now - Dr P just rechecked my bloodwork & thyroid levels are fine - I don’t understand these late-afternoon episodes of extreme fatigue?? It’s very annoying when I’ve got “things to do” - dragging around at what feels like half-speed since I made my vow to try to get back to cooking at home as much as possible… (I’m grilling some chicken & hubby will make roast potatoes again) Simple stuff but far better than picking up fast food!

Maybe what you might need is a Vitamin B complex supplement.
B vitamins are essential for various bodily functions, including converting food into energy, creating new blood cells, and maintaining healthy skin and brain cells. They are crucial for nerve function, immune system support, and may even help destroy free radicals.
Here's a more detailed look at what B vitamins are good for: 1. Energy Production: B vitamins play a vital role in breaking down food for energy, acting as a helper in metabolism. 2. Cell Function and Metabolism: B vitamins are essential for the proper functioning of body cells, including those in the brain and nervous system. 3. Blood Cell Formation: Vitamin B12, in particular, is needed to form red blood cells and DNA. 4. Nerve Function: B vitamins are crucial for the health of nerves and help maintain the myelin sheath, which insulates nerve cells. 5. Immune System Support: B vitamins help the body produce white blood cells and T cells, which are important for fighting off infections. 6. Brain Function: Adequate amounts of B vitamins are essential for optimal brain function. 7. Red Blood Cell Production: B vitamins are involved in the production and maintenance of red blood cells. 8. May help reduce risk of heart disease: B vitamins may contribute to healthy cholesterol levels, potentially reducing the risk of heart disease. 9. May help destroy free radicals: Some B vitamins may have antioxidant properties, helping to neutralize harmful free radicals. 10. May help improve overall health: B vitamins may contribute to improved energy levels, brain function, and cell metabolism, leading to better overall health.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I’ve been on B-complex for several years now - however, in January I added the methyl folate since Dr P said I wasn’t converting it properly. I’ve taken a whole round-robin of supplements over these past few years - some seem to help, others not so much but I’m down to this core group:
B-complex + methyl folate, blackseed oil caps, berberine - just started methylene blue capsules** a couple of wks ago, can’t tell that they’re doing much? ⇒ AM, about an hour after taking my Synthroid
Magnesium glycinate, theanine & CBD ⇒ PM
I’ve tried a whole panoply of herbal supplements - there again, couldn’t discern any specific benefits & I was obviously allergic to some of the components - today, for instance, I’ve got red itchy eyes & a runny nose because I was using up a stash of herbal powder that I used to mix in my morning coffee. It did seem to help as an appetite suppressant when I’m fasting…
I managed to make it by Brookshire’s today before they sold out of the BOGO specials they run on ribeyes at $14.99/lb periodically, so I’ve put 6 beautiful steaks in my freezer. I haven’t had any luck posting a link to the marinade I made for the chicken thighs which was FIRE! But it’s on the Seasoned Mom website - basically soy sauce, Worcestershire, olive oil, a dab of honey, oregano & rosemary + salt & pepper to taste.

I could’ve sworn I wrote something yesterday obviously I did and didn’t post it so I screwed up somewhere along the line.
I made this long post but basically it said why don’t you get yourself a B12 vitamin that’s not time released that you can take when you’re feeling your energy drain it’s a healthy way to get a kick like caffeine.
DAY 3840 WEIGHT 220. My weight is coming down again. I’m still packing my house and I’m still not ready for this. Some days I can’t seem to motivate myself to do anything.Sleep last night doesn’t show that I thought I slept better than it says I did

Congrats on your progress - my weight continues to fluctuate around that 190-lb mark. And thanks, I will pick up some B-12 on my next pass by my health food store… Last night’s sleep was pretty crap for me since I had to get up so early -
Today we attended my cousin’s eldest son’s HS graduation**, then I took P to see the new Mission Impossible movie. Not exactly “my thing”, but I knew P would enjoy it. Tom Cruise obviously wants us to see that he’s kept himself in shape (he’s 63, 2 yrs older than Yours Truly) since there were 2 stripped-down-to-his-underwear action & fight scenes - eye candy for those of us who remember his debut when he lip-synched to Bob Seeger as a teenager!!!
** it was a little awkward, since she has been separated from her husband of almost 25 years “for a while”… she has not shared any details with me, not that she owes me a damn thing! The father of her 4 children came, fortunately all by himself - he did not sit with his family, nor come to lunch with us afterwards. No doubt in my mind there must be someone else - middle-aged men don’t leave “just because” - but at least Robbie had the decency not to try to force the issue (not like my Ex-idiot, who truly acted for a while that my family should just wholeheartedly embrace the homewrecker) She knows most of the gory details of my messy divorce/custody battles since her parents & my parents were very close - I call her dad my surrogate brother. My dad was very fond of him, Clifford was undoubtedly the favorite of all his nieces & nephews
This weekend is the National Polka Festival in Ennis & my favorite band, Brave Combo, is playing tonight & tomorrow night. I can’t get P to commit to one or the other, but today has been a long day - I got up at 6 AM since the farrier was coming at 7:00; I asked my neighbor pretty please to let me have the first slot in his schedule since we had to go to Case’s graduation. I will likely hold off for tomorrow night, since I’m no longer the night owl that I used to be…

Slight progress for me as the scales read 188.6 this morning; hopefully I can keep things below 190 & slowly trending downwards… (Ate BBQ with my cousins after graduation yesterday, and then just had some cheese & crackers as a snack last night)
FitBit scored me 7 hrs 13 min of sleep last night - I didn’t set an alarm, had a hard time falling/staying asleep, yet my eyelids popped open at 6:30…

WEIGHT 219 it’s going down!!!!!
That is awesome news.
My sleep has been really screwed up lately. My deep sleep each night has been under an hour most nights. I don’t get it, unless this moving stuff is stressing me more than I can feel and is affecting my sleep. I don’t know what is happening with me. I have a Dr appointment on Friday. My blood work from a couple of weeks ago said thyroid and sugar was fine. I know stress can do this to a person, but I’ve never ever had this before. For me it’s worse than hot flashes. During the night I’d get hot and sweat, get up, bc now I have to pee. Now all that sweat is cold, I get back into bed to try and get warm. Then when I get up in the morning, I have to put a sweater on because I’m shivering. I’m taking new supplements for cholesterol so I’m gonna stop taking them and see if they’re the ones affecting my body heat.
Also, I’m having a real problem with food nothing tastes right the things that I enjoyed the most my chicken, my beef. I don’t like chicken wings, anymore and beef. Wow prime rib tastes flat on my tongue same with steaks. I don’t know what’s going on with me. Also, chicken was my thing. I ate chicken probably five days a week and beef twice and chicken wings & chicken thighs have no flavour anymore no matter what I season them with.
I have no idea why Fitbit seems to think I scored an 81 when my deep sleep was a whole 49 minutes. One time it showed a whole five minutes of deep sleep. My light sleep has been long even my REM has not been great.
I hope the week goes by uneventful for us both.0 -
I’m back to sweating profusely at night with the return of warm weather, so there’s that!
I cooked another pair of prime ribeye steaks but had the grill set a little too high - they came out a little overdone. IMHO medium well instead of medium rare ⇒ rare which is the way I prefer my steak. (P polished off his entire steak - I gave him the bigger one so that’s how I knew they were overdone!)
He drove me into town last night for the last night of the Polka Festival but only got him out on the dance floor with great difficulty; it was hardly worth it! Of course I had other things on my mind, with my friend Charles taking a turn for the worse…

I’m sorry to hear about your friend. This will happen to us more often now that we are getting back older. When my Aunt passed none of her friends were alive anymore so we didn’t have a funeral. We had a prayer service 2 yrs after she had passed. Only because circumstances and Covid.
I’m still not getting much deep sleep and it’s got to be bc of the stress I’m going through. Although Sunday morning I woke to my Aunt’s spirit on camera overnight and believe she is OK with my decision and the chance of something new.
For some reason, I can’t post the video here so I’m gonna post it in our Facebook group1 -
Shall I call another small increment of progress The Polka Diet?? Happy to see the scales at 186.2 this morning - no doubt part of that is dehydration, but we’ll see how much of it “sticks”…
We popped up to WinStar casino yesterday evening to celebrate Zach’s new job/early birthday - while he magnanimously gave me a $100 bill, I put a $20 of my own in the slot machine & wound up hitting a $470 jackpot! This offset Zach’s $300 losses at blackjack, roulette, & the craps table (I gave him back his $100 as we left for home)
Z & V have also decided to be married at Saint Monica‘s, which pleases me very much - we might even be able to talk Victoria down to a more modest reception at the parish hall?!? It’s a beautiful modernistic church…

I’m so happy you had such a great day yesterday. Winning money and stopping is a great way to keep a jackpot.
Yesterday was an uneventful day for me sleep last night came in three parts and was absolutely awful0 -
Ugh, that’s rotten! This morning I had a (harder-than-usual) time peeling myself off the mattress: my sleep quality was “fair”, but the dogs awakened me at 6 AM. I gave myself a little extra time on my alarm, took advantage of every single minute…
Yesterday was miserable bcz I had 2 of my girls call in sick - of course, we were busy as hell after a holiday weekend! While I needed to go to the store, I staggered home to collapse in my recliner. Another worrisome thing is that Tina Fea has gone on a hunger strike - I’ll take her to work with me this morning to check her blood count & decide if there’s any non-heroic minor interventions I can try. She’s curled up on my lap right now - no other symptoms other than anorexia!?! You’re breaking my heart lil’ dog!!!
I was also awake in the middle of the night, worrying about my plans to visit Charles - I have no idea what I’m gonna walk into?!? I am hoping that Charles’s usual abilities to stay organized & line up household help when he needs it have stayed intact. I sent Z screenshots of our flight options but he has not replied yet.

Thank goodness my pal Bobbie texted me this morning - otherwise it would’ve slipped my mind that I promised her she could bring her horse in for my version of a lameness evaluation (still lacking the ability to do radiographs, but I have my decades of hands-on experience - as I said, thank goodness she reminded me or I would’ve failed to bring my little tray of hoof tools out of the barn)
So I did not take Tina Fea to work with me this morning; this evening she ate a few bites so I count that as progress. She certainly seems comfortable enough in mommy‘s lap!
How’s that saying go? I wish I were 1/10th of the person my dog thinks I am! She danced around a bit when I got home which tells me she’s feeling better…
There again, even though last night’s sleep doesn’t look too bad, I sure felt bad this morning. But I alleviated some of my anxiety by calling Charles - as I told him we were working out plans to visit, he reassured me that he does have a pair of sisters who come in to do housekeeping & cooking chores for him. He sounded very frail & weak again - we’ve got to get on down there 😔

My you do have a lot of outside the family and work stuff going on. Me, I’m still sleeping like *kitten* last night was really weird. I’m not even sure if I can of I didn’t fall asleep until four in the morning. That is highly possible. I’m not sure but I could’ve sworn I shut my TV off. Maybe I didn’t. All I know is I couldn’t sleep. I wasn’t sleepy after everything. I take to fall asleep, so I tried something different. I I made some tea. I used two one restful and one two into one glass and drink that and took some gravel. I was a little so I found some cookies to munch on and after both of I feel relaxed enough to fall asleep. My stomach‘s been I have a doctors appointment on Friday. I’m hoping to get some answers. It might be I’m not sure. Prior to deciding to sell my house. I could eat a lot of food. I food, but I could pack away the food. Now I’m eating far less because I seem to get fuller faster which for me is really really weird.. The only bonus to all of this is my weight is now down to 217. Three more pounds and I’ll be back to my to weight I was in October before 💩 hit the fan.

I’m sorry for your stress level, but happy you are dropping some weight - seems to be a case of “you lost it/I found it” 😉 My weight is up 2 lbs since I succumbed to a desire for waffle fries at Chick-Fil-A yesterday - so probably 50% inflammatory/50% caloric. If guilt carries weight, I’ve got more than a few ounces of that, too - I didn’t make it by to visit my mother yesterday. I picked up my horse trailer from the shop in Kaufman which is about an hour away; I had to go by the feed store, get the trailer repacked for this weekend (just meeting my trail riding buddies, not an official event), & make a Costco run… Yet somehow I still didn’t find the time to do the yoga workout I’ve been psyching myself up for?!?
More rain came through last night, but it’s supposed to dry up tomorrow. Of course with the merest threat of rain in the forecast, some of my trail riders were talking about canceling, but that’s why I have a raincoat!
my sleep pattern was unusual. My iPhone is not letting me post the screenshot, but my deep sleep was divided into its usual early period, & then a second short stretch early in the morning which there again is weird for me?!? I usually fall into deep sleep pretty early on, get about an hour if I’m lucky, & then spend the rest of the night alternating between light sleep & REM
