Oh wow. Do you think your son might be having second thoughts?……

My diet is so poor right now. I have stepped on a scale for a while. First I would have to find one, I have 3 somewhere in a box or 3 boxes. I only have one pan right now. I found a spork to eat with and some spoons. I have paper plates. Most of my frozen food is either at my ex’s house or my girlfriend’s house. I have some stuff in my fridge freezer I’ll eat for a while. My plumber was here today to look at all the stuff I need to get done. The fence is going up slowly. Why do people say it can go up in a day and yet take a week. He is working by himself. The plumber is lacking workers as well.

My bedroom bathroom needs an overall. Everything is too old. So Thursday I’m going to pick out a new bathroom vanity a new toilet and a new shower stall/bathtub I don’t know if we can get something bigger in the space.

I had a really good sleep last night but less than an hour of deep sleep

I, too, got a fairly decent night’s sleep but still feeling sluggish this morning - I need to get my azz in gear… Gotta get tires replaced on small horse trailer as I sort out “the plan” for this weekend. My friend Christina would like to meet up & while it wasn’t really in my plans to haul off that far, I don’t mind the driving being a little disproportionate - she’s got teenagers and I no longer do!

I almost scored those miraculous eight hours! But I wish a little dip in the scale did not cause me to reflexively eat junk food - I complain about being stuck on this 190-lb plateau but then I ate enchiladas yesterday!

I’ll be fasting today since my friend & I are going to a special dinner showing for the 50th anniversary of Jaws - we saw the original as 11/12-year-olds; my mother was absolutely horrified that she’d let us talk her into it! She wasn’t terribly fond of the ocean/swimming to begin with & I think that gave her a permanent phobia…

I was charging my Fitbit and forgot to put it back on. But I believe I got 7-8 hrs last night. Food still sucks. I’ve decided to start fresh on Sept 1. I still have too much going on to keep track and not stress eat.

The “mini cold front” rolled in last night with scattered rainshowers, dropping the temps into the 70’s… I took my friend Toni to a special 50th anniversary screening of Jaws, which was dinner & the movie. (I’d asked hubby but he was completely uninterested!)

They served Narragansett lager, which is the beer can that Quint crushes, shrimp & cod with a very good spicy potato wedge, then strawberry cheesecake for dessert. We had a great time - the theater was about half full of old farts like us who remembered getting the beejesus scared out of us as kids when we first saw the movie. A good time was had by all!

Even better, the scales sat at 189.6 this morning since I fasted all day yesterday in preparation for this. No big plans for the holiday weekend but a lot depends on the weather.

That is really cool. I got some sleep last night but I also was awake a lot too. It wasn’t a great sleep but better than before.

I slept so badly last night it didn’t even register on Fitbit

So I say sleep sucked last night.

So I got some sleep last night. The deep sleep is still under an hour. I don’t know how to improve that yet.

Ugh! I lounged around this morning, always a luxury when I don’t have to set an alarm! (More rain; I left the trailer hitched as I can hold out for this afternoon or tomorrow if it clears out**)

    0094EE25-AB8A-4B59-8EDE-0CF98A0913C2.jpeg

Even so, I didn’t quite reach that magic threshold of 8 hrs! (7 hrs 45 min)

I offered breakfast to Hubby, he politely declined. If I can hold the line on my OMAD routine through the holiday weekend, perhaps I can get off this plateau! 189.6 this AM - I might go take a sauna, been meaning to go for months!

** no one can say I don’t stick to the plan - I picked up Tony & we hauled out to Mineola yesterday, rode in the rain! It wasn’t bad, even though the ponies got spooked by some of the deer in the woods 😳😜

Wow. Rainy weather is not comfortable when having a riding weekend.

I find OMAD is difficult for myself until I have done 2 weeks of no sugar. So I have brunch and supper but I’m retired too so it’s easier. When I was working I found it hard to only eat OMAD.

My sleep was worse than it shows. I was up every 2 hrs to pee. But it doesn’t show all the times I was up.

    IMG_3357.jpeg

Today, being the 1st of the month is a good day to start fresh. So today I’m starting fresh. No more bad food. Smarter choices ahead.

How about you? How are you going to start the rest of the year?

I had a nice, if someone foreshortened ride today with my friend Karen & her middle daughter Courtney. Unfortunately Courtney got tossed, probably cracked a rib so we had to circle back early - only rode 5.5 mi. But I did at least I did get to express my concerns about social media posts her eldest daughter Melissa (23) has put up which proves binge drinking if not true alcoholism. (Actually both Karen & Courtney don’t have any problem calling Melissa an alcoholic - not even a “functional” one at that!) She disappears for days on end, leaving Karen to care for her 4-yr-old. Yet Karen can’t rock the boat because A.) she can’t get her husband on board & B.) she’s most concerned that Melissa would follow through on her threats to disappear & take Aleigha with her…

No. Good. Answers! Maybe it has allowed me to take a slightly more philosophical view of that final disastrous custody battle & Michael’s insistence on imprisoning Zach at that awful rehab facility… A parent can do that to a child, of course, but you cannot force an adult to get treatment unless they cooperate. I would’ve followed the expert recommendations to let him flunk out of outpatient therapy first, but perhaps this experience “scared Z straight”?!?

So you asked me about my plans for the rest of the year - I am also trying to turn over a new leaf, back to Dirty Keto for me! Defrosting some ribeyes for tonight - I did grab a biscuit sandwich at the gas station this AM, but have fasted the rest of the day. Hopefully as I continue the shockwave therapy treatments for my knees (this week starts 2X/wk), I’ll be able to walk & maybe even cycle when I bail out my trike next weekend. (I won’t be tackling any of the hills around our neighborhood - I will haul to some of the local bike paths)

& my sleep was better than what last night’s screenshot shows: I actually had another short period of REM sleep, bcz I had a rather vivid dream - I was with a large party in a restaurant, we were being ignored in a side room so one guy set a fire to bring waitstaff running!

    54F9CBCD-EA7C-41CA-B53F-CA4596531DEE.jpeg

I guess 2 hrs + of REM + deep sleep pushed my score into the “Good” category w/an 84

Ugh! Apparently 1 biscuit + 1 soft pretzel = 2 lbs?!? But honestly, I think there’s at least a pound of aggravation & stress bundled into that…

I only got to enjoy about half my steak because at that point, a good client had been texting me back-and-forth for hrs about her poor sick old dog. (I had told her months ago that yes, I would make a house call euthanasia when it was time but my oh my! was it a tedious process for she & her husband to make up their minds!) Just when I thought they had decided to ride it out last night - I had proceeded with grilling steaks & so forth - she texted me because Maddie had another spell… There went the rest of my holiday weekend, not that I had any great plans other than sitting down & eating a good steak w/Hubby, maybe even - “gasp”! - having a conversation about the future which will be fast upon us?!?
So that little errand of mercy took me about 2.5 hrs; I wasn’t home terribly late, just feeling sorry for myself - hence the soft pretzel from the gas station - & once again, no exercise!

Oh dear. I feel bad for the couple and you. That is quite the ending to your weekend.
My day went better food wise. I’m back to using MFP to keep track of my meals. Let’s see how long I use MFP for my meals. I usually seem to forget to use it.

I found a scale. It was outside. How the hell it ended up with gardening tools I’ll never know. I weighed myself it was before supper. I’ll weigh myself in the morning to get a more accurate weight. My weight mid day was 226.

  • endurovet
    endurovet Posts: 802 Member

And I wish MY scale was MIA, although it’s no shock that picking up Taco Bell for a late lunch yesterday results in another pound of gain today! I realize that it’s not 100% fat - I’m bloated & miserable; hopefully that will start to disperse today.

Also laying awake at 4 AM about how I’m gonna juggle all my upcoming responsibilities: I have my friend’s son’s baby shower this weekend (gotta go shopping for that), next week my mother‘s 94th birthday right before I have to go out of town to judge a competitive trail ride. (Her actual birthday - the 12th - is Friday but we’re going to celebrate it Thursday because my deep dark secret is: when I made this commitment 6 mos ago, I didn’t know if we’d be celebrating another birthday for my mom! Honestly I don’t know at this point if she will recognize it - while she still recognizes me, she gives me these deep, penetrating looks which appear to be “the lights are on but nobody’s home”)

Oh wow. You do have a very active September. I’m just waiting to have all the work done. Electrical, plumbing, wood work. Once appointments have been made I’ll have some clarity on finish dates and when I can start putting things away.

Last night’s sleep was the best I’ve had in weeks. Over 2 hrs of REM and finally over an hour of deep sleep. I feel rested. I hope I can do it again tonight. Scale said 225. I’m having my suspension looked at today at 12:30. I hope it doesn’t cost me and arm & leg to fix. I have air suspension bc my truck can raise and lower for things I probably didn’t need.

Last night’s sleep was fairly decent, even though I was up a couple of times to urinate..

    0ACF895D-578A-4407-91AD-FD54A4447C83.jpeg

About 2 hrs 45 min of REM + deep sleep, more importantly I wasn’t struck by ruminating panic at 4 AM like I was Tuesday night! I had all of the best intentions to fast today, but succumbed to Chick-Fil-A for lunch as I was out running errands…

Let’s hope the great weather holds for this weekend, but rain is predicted for Sunday. Had my farrier out this AM to pull loose shoes & trim my boys up, looks like I’ll need to get up early Sat to get in a quick ride before Sat-afternoon baby shower…

Tomorrow we are expecting heavy wind. I have to make a trip to the bank and to my sale rep for vehicles I don’t know what I want so I’m t at driving a van, jeep, and Durango. I don’t need the truck without the ranch so I’ll trade in the truck for something else.

My sleep wasn’t bad but not as good as night before.

I forgot to tell you about the Friday the 22nd. The day after the move I sent a picture of Shamie’s eye to the vet text line and got an appointment right away. This was Shamie’s eye that day

    IMG_3334.jpeg

now this is his eye one week later

    IMG_3354.jpeg

The vet determined it was only the outside of his eye that was affected and it was bacterial but she couldn’t tell me what it was or caused by. Tomorrow I’ll send another one. I have 3 weeks of medicine and I believe it’s going to take that long for it to completely go away what ever this is/was.

I thought being a Vet, you might find this interesting.

Whoa! This happened acutely?? How old is Shamie? In an older dog, I can’t help but worry about a tumor, that looks ugly!

Just got a text msg that my new teenage part-timer is quitting (effective immediately). It’s probably some drama in her all-too-hectic home life, the other day she was taking a steady stream of personal calls. I feel for her, but hope she realizes this makes her ineligible for unemployment.

    “It’s always something” 🤷‍♀️

My problem is my unhealthy attachment to Chick-fil-A waffle fries - and yesterday I got a perfect, 100% crispy, fresh-out-of-the-vat batch which makes it harder for me to hold the line when I drive past… (& yes, of course I’ll eat the chicken strips that accompany ‘em)

Last night I took my retired farrier/old friend & Tony’s dad Rodney out for a belated BD dinner, so there’s another 1.5 lbs to chalk up to that special occasion. Nothing else to do but buckle down today - my new’ish teenage assistant quit by text msg last night. I should’ve known there was something going on when she was continuously fielding (personal) phone calls Tuesday… So these worries wrecked last night’s sleep:

I was awake for so long (between 3:10 AM - 5:30) that my Fitbit wouldn’t link those two episodes of sleep (I went to bed about 11 PM so it also took me a long time to go to sleep initially) :

While I’m glad I got those extra 2.5 hrs (I certainly needed it!), it’s put me behind the 8-ball this morning - feeling groggy, stiff & sore & out of sorts… I had considered getting up early to get in a short ride before my baby shower event this afternoon, but obviously that’s not going to happen.

it appears my sleep was broken. But it think Fitbit has it wrong.

    IMG_3390.jpeg IMG_3391.jpeg

I don’t think I was awake from 2:52 until 5:11 I think I was just restless. But I do remember going to the bathroom and taking my thyroid pill around 4 am and somehow choked on that little tiny pil. Food was bad yesterday. Ice cream and pie.

Dull headache this AM; I lounged around in bed too long. Stated excuse being waiting to see if it’s going to rain before I decide if I’m going to go to a lunchtime CE meeting at JerryWorld or stay home & ride?

It’s not actively raining (gray & overcast right now, with my smart phone saying skies should be clearing this afternoon) so I think the answer is “Ride!”

& practicing OMAD with yesterday‘s baby shower, even though I ate way too much sugar! my weight is holding at 192. That’ll do, could’ve been worse if I had partaken of the punch! We were joking that it would make an excellent mixer: cranberry, orange, & pineapple juice with ginger ale.

We are sunny here with no rain in sight. But I am spending the day reading then watching Nascar. Right now I’m reading and watching Rosemary & Thyme.

While I did get in a short ride yesterday, I was out of sorts most of the day from the new gummy I tried Saturday night… (The young lady at the shop did warn me they were strong; I only took 1/4 of one) I knew something was dreadfully wrong when I got up at 4 AM to urinate & I was staggering around like a drunken fool. I had my alarm set for 7 AM with all the best intentions of riding AND going to the CE meeting but I turned it off as I was still half-baked.

    124EC3CC-5581-47DC-867D-07B94BC26BB4.jpeg

Finally forced myself off the mattress, lazed around drinking some coffee & got out about 11 AM. Felt mildly impaired for most of the day until my head cleared about 5 o’clock-ish - so it took about 18 hrs to get it out of my system! Next time I will take 1/8 much earlier in the evening.

Last night “unmedicated” was much better:

While I was actually dozing lightly between 3:30 - 6:30, my Fitbit didn’t record it?!? Still feeling pretty rough this morning, c’mon coffee!!!

Bad sleep, bad diet, zero exercise - no wonder I feel horrible! But at least we’ve got some crisp fall weather - I’ve had to put on a jacket these past two mornings going down to the barn (61°)

I know the longest journey begins with a single step & all, but I can’t even seem to string half of a decent day together.

I understand that too. I was not snoozing. I was wide awake until I wasn’t anymore.

    IMG_3397.jpeg

I love it when I sleep well but it really sucks when I don’t.
