@RichardHaw Amazing to connect with a doctor that has such clarity. If you are looking for lower impact cardio, you could try speed walking. I have walked a few 5k's and beat plenty of runners (no the good ones :P ). My best pace was roughly 13 min mile and was this past spring. Now I have only walked 3 times since May 1st. I need to get back to it.

@Skyleen75 Bravo for recognizing that the 5 lbs is an impossible fat gain. It would mean an overage of something like 16,000 calories. Tracking helps me to understand what fluctuations are real or not. I am guessing tomorrow will look better.

@Utmom81 Sorry about your father's fall setting you back. My dad fell Oct 2021, and it was a trigger as well for me. Fortunately (if you look at my spoiler), I came back Jan 2022 and was only up 7 or 8, but the scarier part were all the returned habits that I had to overcome. Dad now passed away Oct 2023, and mom has dementia, I am DPOA, executor, trustee of estate, and the one handling all bills, medication, interfacing with the private aids and facility, most medical intervention, resolving all assets (including two hoarded homes), etc etc. So easy to forget about yourself. Bravo for looking out for you!

@khahn2856 Happy Birthday! I hope it is wonderful!

@Anabirgite The cleaning you are doing is difficult but ultimately is a gift to yourself. I am actively still trying to de-hoard the second of my parents homes (one done and sold). So far I have take 15 full GMC Acadia truck fulls from it. I expect to need to take 9 more out before I can meet with a RE agent. Seeing my parents' situation, that is landing on family (mostly me) and not them, is motivating me to remove all that is not actually needed from my home bit by bit. The gift of being older now is that I have less of "Maybe I'll use that in X years". I do not want my kids to be going through what I am going through. Good luck, you can do it. Isn't there an expression "how can you eat an elephant?" "One bite at a time". You will get through that clutter.

@deepwoodslady Saving Private Ryan introduced the acronym FUBAR to audiences, sparking speculation about its authenticity as a World War II expression. FUBAR stands for "F*****D Up Beyond Recognition" and is used in the film to describe missions or events that descend into chaos.

@deepwoodslady I still feel it isn’t “right” of your DD to place this temptation in your path.

@quiltingjaine Okay, you got me! What is FUBAR?
In regards to daughter, I agree. I mean, I know it is just her way. She actually carries her totes EVERYWHERE she goes. I think she got into the habit when DGS was small with diaper bag maybe (to hold his snacks?) I'm not sure, but she is so tiny that the bags are bigger than her! No, I don't need her pulling stuff out and offering it to me. Sometimes I'm strong and say no to her fancy chocolates. "No thanks, I have some dark cacao. I'll have a square of it later after dinner". etc. But when I'm going through these weak times, its rough. Time for another talk! I hate to deflate her, but I don't need to be INFLATED with calories and carbs!

I feel the parent pain Donna! kids can be perfect in 1000 ways and still be clueless sometimes! They're all very comfortable taking us for granted. My son included!! I think most parents have felt the same. I'll give them a pass once or twice, but if I get to 3? Houston we have a problem.

That means you're not listening, understand how vital this is, or care enough to make an effort.

I've had to tell my own son a version of ~ I love you dearly but why do I have to keep telling you how your choices are stressing me out and literally putting my health at risk? You should be supporting and encouraging me, not making a rough ride worse! I know you're not doing it on purpose and I'm not trying to make you feel bad. I'm reminding you I'm your mother and I need you to do this. (EYES LOCKED) --- ARE YOU. HEARING. ME? You don't have to be perfect, just on your A-game about this. Can you do that?

I'd be disappointed and HURT if he didn't make @ least a solid B effort after all of that!! but hope I haven't overstepped. Kids need to be called out on their sh%t, and we need to stop making excuses for them.

@reshii_devi so Well Said and so True!~!

    Today, I am focusing on……………
(IM) Intentional movement: getting up and walking every hour or two with a minimum of 30 min. daily (in any combination of minutes/sessions).
(IE) Intentional eating: Recognizing the food on my plate, taking small bites, putting down the utensil, consciously chewing, tasting the flavor, feeling the texture and stopping before I feel full. Giving myself time to recognize the difference between hunger and satiety.

@Onewomanswalk I need more IM and IE. Especially the IE part. I still eat like I'm starving, working in the factory and on a 10 minute break with 500 others and a long walk to the breakroom (true story). I really shouldn't be swallowing everything whole so often!

    Round 267
    Richard, male, 67.
    6' 1"
    HW 235
    GW 185

Round goals: > 3 miles/day walking (1:00 time wise), more stretching as I'm having some aching and aggravation of knee and back issues, and trying to get better at golf (this is my year to actually learn how to play the game).

7/25 Thu: 193.7, walked 1:04, hit the driving range for golf. Still having problems with right quads and knee.
7/26 Fri: 196.2, walked 1:25, 9 holes of golf. Can't seem to shake leg muscle issues.
7/27 Sat: 193.4, no walking as spent the morning helping friends move and aft/evening on a casino bus trip. Didn't over indulge diet wise so that was a plus even if the aerobic exercise was missing. Got some strength work in moving appliances though.

@RichardHaw Awww. I miss the casino bus trips. I used to drive out to Grayling or to Gaylord to hop on but they have cut those stops. All the other stops are just so far! Miss the U.P. It sounds like you burned a lot of calories helping the friends move. And I know there is always a lot of walking in the Casino. Nice drop on the scale today! I hope you won, or at least broke even!
