Hi, I'm Charissa, back for another round. On vacation starting 7/31. I haven't found my travel scale, so I probably won't have access to a scale. Not sure if that's good or bad

7/29 206.2 As July comes to an end once been reflecting on what I’ve done and what I need to do. I’m pleased with my progress, but finding areas I can improve like mobility and core. So for August I’m going to working on increasing my mobility and building my core strength with a focus on abs.
7/30 206.6 The past few days have been rough. I’m not eating during the day because I’ve been busy running around, so I’m finding myself really hungry at night and I’m eating more than usual for a single meal. I’m staying under my calories and within my macros, but I think I’m eating too late. I’m not giving my body enough time to process everything. Tonight I’m limiting my carbs, this is a killer for me at night, and I’m going to do better about eating lunch tomorrow. It’s about seeing patterns and adjusting.
7/31 206.6 I’m hoping this is water retention from weight lifting and an increase in core workouts. Or it’s that I’m not drinking enough water given the heat wave.

Tomorrow and Saturday the only thing I'm nearly guaranteed to get points for is my "cardio" which is walking the dogs. I'm going to work hard to meet my macros, though! I need to go pack and gather my snacks and protein shakes for the road to give me the best chance possible. This will be my last check in this round and tomorrow morning will be my last weigh-in as I'll be heading home on the 3rd. See y'all next round!!

Previous Day's Comments7/25 - Dropping off the last of the TOM-related bloat/water weight I think. I've been behaving really well lately. My coaching program has a 4 week "summer shreds" challenge starting August 1st. Since I'm already in coaching, it's not much of a change except now my goals will have a point value behind them and there are rewards for the highest points after 4 weeks ($500 cash and $500 in coaching gifts). It will be a challenge since I'll be traveling to take the kids back to their moms (up there Friday Aug 2nd, back home Saturday Aug 3rd). There will also likely be some work travel, they weren't happy I wasn't available in July so they're likely going to be pushing for it to happen early in August. I just need to do some work ahead of time planning and prepping with travel snacks and such to get me through as best I can. We have dinner out tonight since it's the last chance for Fam to see the kids before they go back to their mom's (Fam is leaving tomorrow for one last vacay to see family) but dinners are planned out through Sunday so that's helpful. I will need to improvise lunch tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday but that's much easier to do when I already have dinner logged.

7/29 - Busy busy final weekend with the kids. Friday I ended up squeezing in overtime after our workout before StepDaughter and I headed to town for our rain-checked girls date. Saturday BigBro came over to hang out one last time with the younger two and we had a nice dinner together but I spent the day grocery shopping and doing household tasks. Sunday was meal prep followed by a little get together to say by to the kids with our friend group. Back on track today. Should know this afternoon if I'll be driving the kids or if BF is cleared to drive them up to their mom for the school year (Friday/Saturday). I also just found out I'll be traveling the week of the 12th for work. Right smack dab in the middle of my Coaching Summer Shreds Challenge so it'll make things extra challenging for me. Ugh. It's a 2 day site visit. I'll travel down the day before (Monday), site visits Tuesday and Wednesday. Hopefully we'll be done with our second site visit early enough I can catch a flight home that night (Wednesday) rather than have to stay over and fly home Thursday. We're still hashing out details now that we've gotten the dates figured out. Meals logged for today with some buffer - waiting to get my updates from Coach since she was leaning towards lowering my macros a bit more this week. Rough workout but my back was bothering me at the fusion so I let myself go easy and stop anything that hurt. Still not easy to mentally handle, but I know it's best for me to allow my body to tell me when enough is enough.
7/30 - Well, BF is going to try to drive the kids back but he requested I go with in case he needs a break. He's going to see if BigBro will come watch the dogs Friday night while we're gone. Good thing I assumed I would be traveling and bought macro-friendly snacks and some protein shakes. Coach didn't change macros since she didn't have time to review my hormone panel and wants to make sure she changes things in a way that's helpful based on what is going on with my body. I haven't gotten anything yet, but hopefully early enough in the day to adjust to meet macros without needing to do a full overhaul of dinner (which is a family favorite I'd rather not miss). I think I'll wake up and do bodyweight at home with some walking on Friday rather than try to hit the gym and then drive. That early of a wakeup was not fun last time (even though I did nothing but sit because BF's surgery).
7/31 - I'm not quite sure what caused this uptick. I woke up feeling quite lean and feeling good. Coach sent an email about some concerns with my hormone panel - apparently my TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is a bit lower than she'd like. She wants me to make some minor changes like household items and soaps. I did some basic research - my shampoo and conditioner doesn't have the chemicals that pop up repeatedly on the search. My handsoap, however, does. I have an abundance of that so I'll slowly use that up and switch to something without those chemicals. It also includes using my glass food storage rather than my plastic (though my plastic has dividers that are useful...ugh). I at least do use my glass more often when I don't need to keep things separate. Also my Free T3 is arguably a bit low but not to the point we want to make drastic changes. But my Vitamin D3 is also a tad lower but still within range. I do take a calcium with Vit D supplement but I may not be absorbing it or it may not be enough so she's going to send me a supplement that is easier to absorb. On that note, I haven't seen any changes to my macros so I'm aiming to meet my current macros as they are and adjust if she does change them by tomorrow. With travel Friday/Saturday I may not meet macros, changed or unchanged (sorry Summer Shreds), and I'll submit my check-in Sunday for updates on Monday. I will still aim to meet my goals but I'm not going to fall prey to perfectionism, either.

My CICO numbers show I should have lost 2-3lbs, but I gained that instead. Feeling bloated after long hours with too much stress, too little sleep and too many processed foods the past few days. Even staying within macros, I'm back on the border of onederland and (shockingly) could care less. I must be more tired than I realized.

July Goals: Starting over 7/12 ~ lost six weeks of progress and regained 7 pounds adjusting to new third shift work schedule. They call it graveyard for a reason!!! My exercise, water and step count have all also dropped considerably. Goals this month are simply to lose as much as possible building momentum and getting back in the groove.
June Goals: Having gotten as low as 193 in both April and May, I'd like to drop below that in June. (FAIL)
6/5 - 196.8
6/6 - 195.1
6/7 - 195.3 (LAST DAY REPORTING)
MAY 1st SW: 197.3 | EW: 196.8
MAY Goals: Lose 6-8bs, 2-3 inches and 1-2% body fat ❎❎❎
May 22: I had packed some shorts to change into after swim without trying them on. They were so tight last summer, I expected the fit to be better ~ but when I put them on ... wow. I was in front of the locker room mirrors and was like omg, that's you. How long has it been since you looked/felt like that? I was spinning around looking at myself for a good 2-3 minutes, y'all, lol ~ my New #1NSV
May 4: 10 of the 20 inches lost was off my belly! No pics, no proof, lol ~ I love/hate taking photos because they've become one of my best tools. You can't lie and you can't hide. Putting myself on blast 1) creates incentive to increase effort and 2) highlights new areas to focus on. Still a long way from my ultimate goals, but its nice to see muscle memory is real! At a size 15, I haven't been this small in more than 10 years.
APRIL 1st SW: 198.2 | EW: 197.8
Goals: Lose 6-8bs, 2-3 inches and 1-2% body fat ❎❎❎
Lost less than a pound, 1.25 inches combined on arms and legs | regained 0.2% body fat and 1/2 inch back on my belly. Starting dietary 200-400 calorie deficit and Intermittent Fasting 18-24 hrs. Breaking fast differently, including more protein, and continuing to look for new ways to increase step count and add more strength in May.
January 1st - April 1st, I've lost 17 pounds and a total of 20.8 inches from 11 areas. 🥳 Thrilled to see my hard work reversing prediabetes and years of physical damage. Getting leaner and stronger and chair dancing proud of myself about it!! 57 and hormonal, it's taken longer than expected and a much rougher road than my youth.
Reaching onederland (March 13th) meant the end of 10+ years and up to 80 pounds!! gained and relost too many times to count. Yo-yoing is the main reason for so much body fat!!! Determined not to continue to self-sabotage ... I need a new target!! If I should lose an additional 8% body fat to reach the "standard" for my age, height and sex ~ and up to 15% more to reach excellent ~ that's @ least another 8-15 months of work before I can begin to relax and think maintenance.9 -

My 37th round and will celebrate ONE YEAR of this challenge on 7/31! I’ll be crunched for time over the next few days because of family and stuff that rarely happens. Won’t be including my history, “July Level up” etc. until later this challenge (probably this weekend). I do plan to evaluate my year and create new aspirations moving forward. I’ll re-read my journal. I’m glad that 7/31 is my Anniversary and 8/1 is another FRESH NEW START. I have learned that each 10-day challenge is not a simple roll-over from the previous unless there is a conscious decision to make it one. After all, this is a 10-day challenge! It’s the opportunity to tweak the previous 10 days and re-commit to forming new habits. I’m really excited and thankful! Also, I am a totally 💯 different person than I was a year ago. If you would have asked me one year ago if I would do this …. Every 10 days… for one entire year, I honestly would have said no way would I do this for one whole year!!! But now, I 💯 would do it all over again! I never missed a day, I never stopped working on “Me”…. I’ve learned more than I can imagine… So for those just starting…… One day at a time, for 10-days WORKS! Good luck to all! And thanks for being REAL! I learn from EACH POST!
7/26 ✅July Level Up but no reading or journal. P:E 1.4:1 Pg 125. Good day. Ate salad for first time in a year and won’t ever again. Leafy greens are my enemy. 🎾🏋️♀️. Family leaving today.
7/27 ✅July Level Up however still no reading or journal but now that family left late yesterday, will get fully back on track. P:E 1.2:1 Pg 120. 🚶♀️10k
⚖️ The scale reflects four days of irregular schedule and total discombobulation. I give myself a B+ in nutrition. Looking forward to getting back in the groove!
I will do at least one thing that challenges me big-time today. Step out of comfort zone. I’ll get a taste of what’s in my realm of capability…. Becoming #HSF

Positive day! Stepped out of my comfort zone with 20 lb weights. Great ST work out!
Protein too high. Two eggs before tennis, 8 Oz boiled shrimp @noon, protein shake mid-afternoon, and a tomahawk pork chop @6pm… All Under 1200 kcals…. I could’ve skipped the shake in the afternoon but forgot to log it and then big surprise last night! Will track track better today.
Slept like a rock last night… thankful! Almost back in the groove! #HSF

Scale has leveled although I still feel bloated. ReFocus on 💦 this week. Grateful.
Sleeping well - another 8 hr night! … . Protein still too high… ST rest day - calories on target.
Will be active today and stay true to July Level up! Looking forward to a great week ahead!

Hard, really hard to believe I’ve kept this up for a year. Sincerest appreciation to JGMTD participants. Thank you! I often refer to my mission DAILY and to this group during the day each

Low calories and protein yesterday and no 🏋️♀️. I wiped out early yesterday because of the heat… Too much 🎾.
One last day at the gym with DGS…. Really felt like an OLD-Lady MawMaw yesterday! 💦good but heat bad. Too early right now to plan activity for the day, but will be more relaxed. I’ll definitely 🏋️♀️…. Want to finish 💪🏻.
One of my longtime girlfriends from my “group” celebrating her 65th tomorrow … need my shield of armor to deflect the debauchery. A crab boil - with all those yummy appetizers that are 1000 cal per bite & sweets w/ 10million carbs. 🤣. I’ll figure it out. Stay determined this weekend! A new month!

@SModa61 Feeling overwhelmed is very triggering for me as well. It’s a hard one to get out of as we can’t add more hours to the day!

7/25 169.4 Got in an outdoor walk between rain showers yesterday. The temperatures felt amazing all day, and we sure did need the rain!
7/26 168 Walked between showers yesterday and also got in an exercise bike workout during the rain with DGD on her own exercise bike. We had so much fun together with that! It’ll be good for both of us because she has our genetic tendency to hold weight.
7/27 168.8 Guess that’s the rebound after a pound and a half loss, because there’s no other explanation for it. It happens. Almost always. It’s fine. Was more active yesterday in activities with DGD and then got in a good walk in the evening too. Good day!
7/28 168.2 Another good day. Spent the afternoon with Dad here and made him one of Mom’s favorite recipes, her spaghetti, but ate well all day and got in a long walk in the evening. I was thinking just now that I am now about 4 lbs less than when I was the night I got the call that Dad had fallen and broken his hip. Everything about my life was changed at that moment, but I didn't know it yet. Ended up retiring to care for him here in my home until this past April, and lost total control of my own body, blowing up like a balloon to the high of 191. It feels so good to have regained control of what I eat and how I move and to be back closer to a healthy weight. I feel sure I can reach my goal weight now and will probably lower it to about 145. Feeling good! I am thankful for this group and the support and accountability each of you provides.
7/29. 167.8 Had movie theater popcorn for dinner last night, so I expected a sodium bump. It’ll probably come tomorrow. But for now, I’ll take this!
7/30 167.8 Good day yesterday. Need to get out in my flower beds some today and get rid of some weeds and the old stems from my day lilies, if the weather gives me an opportunity. If it does, I’ll get in a walk, too. Fingers crossed!
7/31. 167.2 Had a really nice walk yesterday morning at a new walking path I’ve not been to before. Will definitely be returning to that one! NSV: I’ve gotten off 2/3 of my blood pressure medicine this week. Doctor told me last visit to come off if it started being low, and it IS! I’m trying to find just the right dosage that prevents the symptoms I’m having, but I’m encouraged by this development! Here’s to a healthier version of ourselves!!!
8/1 168 Longer walk than usual yesterday, and a bump usually happens when I do that. Food choices were fine. Part of it! Will be eating out tonight, though, so sodium bump could be in my future right here at the end of the round. Fingers crossed.
8/2 167.8 Unexpectedly needed to keep my grandson who was running a fever, so didn’t really get any extra exercise. He was so sweet to be with though, and we had a good day in spite of the fact he didn’t feel his best. Food ended up fine for the day though, even though my choices could have been healthier.

I don’t really notice how hot it is these days, I just schedule my days to be in as much shade as possible. But I am out working and sweating everyday. I’m one hundred percent positive I’m retaining water in reaction to the heat.
I just need to keep drinking lots of water. I’ll break through this plateau. I’m really proud of myself as in the past I did a lot of eating in my work truck between jobs. Always junk food. I’ve really kept that in check this year.9 -

I’m a serial dieter/gainer whose weight has varied by 50 lbs over the years; I’m working to change my relationship with food. I joined this group in 12/23 at 147, lost 22 lbs and reached my goal in 4/24. I’m now working to understand my patterns so I know where my pitfalls are. My goal is to remain within the same 3-4 lb range for good!

It’s DH’s birthday, so I’m taking him out for dinner. He wants fish, so I’ll be able to stay within bounds. I am baking him a cake, but I plan to give some of it away. 😊
7/27 - 196.6
I guess I did ok with lunch out yesterday. I did have birthday cake (red velvet with cream cheese frosting) last night, but it was essentially a “meal,” so my total calories were reasonable. I want to get out in my garden, but the Nextdoor neighbor is sitting outside smoking a stinky cigar and it turns my stomach. It’s an ongoing problem when he’s home in the summer. Luckily, he often cares for his little grandkids and doesn’t smoke in front of them. Anyway, my “gut” seems much better since I’ve stopped drinking coffee (waaa!) so I’m going to try a walk on the river greenway in a bit. Have a great Saturday!
7/28 - 196.6
I stayed up way too late reading. At least I wasn’t eating! I might need a morning nap. 😊 Happy Sunday, everyone!
7/29 - 197
Off to Monday brunch and knitting with a friend. Planning a light brunch. 🤪
7/30 - 197
I think this is artificially high as I ate late when I got home from “doggy school.” We’ll see tomorrow. 😊
7/31 - 196.8
8/01 - 196.6
Weird. I remember writing a post yesterday, but it isn’t here. I must have his Done instead of Post. I hate when I do that! Anyway, happy August!

8/1 131.5 Fasted 22:20 hours then ate under calories and macros.
8/2 132.0 Almost an hour at the gym, ate 3oz of burnt ends. DH has a meeting from 10-3 today so I charged the DVD player. This will be the first time in a loooong time since I have done these videos because Oskar didn’t like to share the floor space. I will not workout for 5 hours! LOL Maybe I’ll take some measurements, too.6 -

08/01 -188.6- (Trend weight190.2) Just a fluctuation likely caused by an extra early weigh-in. Siding crew has been arriving very early and they are making progress Fast! I have 7 more windows (all upstairs) going in soon and I believe they are going to help with that project too. My Contractor is impressed with their speed. They are also working on a quote for me to replace the roof (badly needed). Glad to be getting some of these outdoor projects done while the weather is good. DD and DGS arrive this evening for their 4 day stay. I will commit myself to staying strong!
08/02 -DNW- (Trend weightDNW) No weigh Friday for me due to medication and early rise day. Decent day yesterday but not perfect ( chocolate snacks). I had no real exercise other than being pulled this way and that with work crew and then DGS. Staying on track today so far. The heat is almost unbearable and with no air there is not relief! My guys are finishing up the 4 smaller windows on the (doghouse) dormers on the upstairs roof. Next week they will install the 3 larger windows on the two reverse peaks and the front of the garage. I feel sorry for them in this heat. I would love to get in some exercise later but I probably won’t because its just too hot inside and out. At the very least I could try to AT LEAST stick to my eating plan.

8/03- 173.4 Wow this round went by too fast! Happy to be at a lower number even if it’s not my lowest. I look at my graph every morning and I see the tiny amount of progress that I’ve made over the last few weeks.
It’s not as flashy as the big drops from the months before but it’s a success! In the past I’ve gotten discouraged during long plateaus.
I haven’t lost my motivation this time. I do know I just have to keep hammering away until something shifts. I know that it doesn’t happen magically, that I have to change something I’m doing. It’s also not as simple as just eating less.
Could be eating schedule, specific foods or nutrients, water or when/what exercise I’m getting.
But for now until I have the Aha moment I know that if I check in every morning, get on the scale and stay present on this journey that I’m winning.
Today is Horsepower on the Hudson so I have to get in a serious cardio kickboxing class to negate sitting on the boat for hours watching races! At least the only good we have is what we bring so that should help!8 -

In order to stay within my health goals, I must continue to track all measures.

7/28 ✅July Level Up! 💯
P:E 3:1 Pg 166. 🚶♀️10k 🎾🏋️♀️💤
#HSF
7/29 ✅July Level Up! 💯
P:E 2:1 Pg 150. 🚶♀️13k 💤8hrs.
Scale has leveled although I still feel bloated. ReFocus on 💦 this week. Grateful.
Sleeping well - another 8 hr night! … . Protein still too high… ST rest day - calories on target.
Will be active today and stay true to July Level up! Looking forward to a great week ahead!

Crazy fun day with DGS. Trying to squeeze in end of summer fun! Was hungry all day yesterday and managed it. Ok with 💦. Slept well! ☺️ Repeat today and add 🏋️♀️.

🏀💦🏋️♀️ We enjoyed 2 hrs of gym time with DGS and topped off the afternoon with a snowball. (Sugar free of course!) 🎾 this morn…. And 💦🏋️♀️🚶♀️📝
Hard, really hard to believe I’ve kept this up for a year. Sincerest appreciation to JGMTD participants. Thank you! I often refer to my mission DAILY and to this group during the day each
8/1 ✅July Level Up! 💯
P:E 1.2:1 Pg 110. 🚶♀️8k 💤 8hrs.
🎾 two hrs. Took 3 hr nap yesterday. Guess I needed it. Uneventful day except for DGS quality time. Hopefully will be rested enough to pursue excellence today! And…. New month! Let’s Go!!🏋️♀️💪🏻
8/2 ✅July Level Up! 💯
P:E 1.1:1 Pg 119. 🚶♀️10k 💤 5hrs.

Quite bloated this morning. Went out to dinner last night spur the moment… ceviche, and a crabcake….. a glass of white wine. One bite of DH’s ooie-gooey cake😄.
My trend weight:
six months: 131.10…
one month: 130.70
(Per Apple Health)
Trend weight not provided for one week or one year…
This was a good, solid round. Grateful! I have a crab boil tonight and lunch with friends tomorrow… My nutrition will be fine, but my routine will be off- so we shall see how that impacts the scale, mood and my other functions😂
Y’all enjoy the weekend and see you next round!
NSV: “P:E” - I have tracked/ measured this statistic each day (WOE - in my spoiler) for six weeks+ and it seems to be working well for me. 🏋️♀️still not a habit but managing somehow. 🚶♀️Steps & Z2💗are ⬆️.6 -
I did not participate this round because I was out of town. It was a food fest, but lots of activity too. Damage was not too bad. Back in the saddle next round. I have a list of things to do as long as my arm, so it will be hard to review all of your posts this round. Hope all are well.5

I’m not ending this round where I’d like. Reflecting on the week, I’ve been stressed, it’s been hot and I’ve still managed to eat well, work out, and take care of myself. I’m working on having a little grace for myself that I didn’t lose much. One thing I have noticed is that I do better with the short rounds when I don’t make my goal a number on the scale. That was part of my stress for the 10 days. I was constantly thinking about what I should do better to lose more and at the end of the day, the answer was nothing. Tomorrow is a new round with new opportunities. Let’s go!6 -

Weird. I remember writing a post yesterday, but it isn’t here. I must have his Done instead of Post. I hate when I do that! Anyway, happy August!

Not a surprise since we had pizza yesterday. But my calories weren’t bad, so it will come back off. Next round!

A little progress! Headed out on a camping trip In the Sierras to a little town called Graeagle.. My three adult daughters and their families will join us as well as other friends. After much internal debate, I have decided to take my scale. I want to have lots of fun this week but I also want to stay on track with my weight loss goals. I would like to move into the 175's. My internet access will be spotting so probably won't post. Every one have a great week.
