My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 64 years old and from Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
    250’s; 240’s; 230’s; 220's; 210's; 200's; 190's; 180’s; 170's; 160's; 150’s

This Challenge Starting Weight (from July 31st): 188.4

    Total Lost/Gained this month: xxxxx

**********************ONE DAY, ONE STEP, ONE DECISION AT A TIME********************

Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

08/01-188.6-(Trend Weight 190.2)- Just a fluctuation likely caused by an extra early weigh-in. Siding crew has been arriving very early and they are making progress Fast! I have 7 more windows (all upstairs) going in soon and I believe they are going to help with that project too. My Contractor is impressed with their speed. They are also working on a quote for me to replace the roof (badly needed). Glad to be getting some of these outdoor projects done while the weather is good. DD and DGS arrive this evening for their 4 day stay. I will commit myself to staying strong!

08/02- DNW -(Trend Weight DNW)- No weigh Friday for me due to medication and early rise day. Decent day yesterday but not perfect ( chocolate snacks). I had no real exercise other than being pulled this way and that with work crew and then DGS. Staying on track today so far. The heat is almost unbearable and with no air there is not relief! My guys are finishing up the 4 smaller windows on the (doghouse) dormers on the upstairs roof. Next week they will install the 3 larger windows on the two reverse peaks and the front of the garage. I feel sorry for them in this heat. I would love to get in some exercise later but I probably won’t because its just too hot inside and out. At the very least I could try to AT LEAST stick to my eating plan.

Hello I'm Darlene. Retired, 63-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty), back for another month with this supportive group. I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023, and with this group since April 2023. I have lost 84.5 pounds since the beginning of my journey. This group (along with a couple others I am in) has played a very important part in me reaching my goals. Thank you @jm216 for setting it up again this month! I and working on my last 10ish pounds to goal (may change that when I get there). Happy to be back for another month.

    Starting Weight 228

My July Reflection for anyone who cares to read:
    July Reflection

July was a tough month for me. I do not really understand why I lost motivation this month, but probably a combination of not being able to do my normal exercise routine coupled with getting close to my goal and self-sabotage.

I lost 1.5 pounds this month. My goal was to at least lose 2% of my body weight which would have been about 3 pounds. I got close for a couple of days – but then went over the top and gained some back. The good thing is that I got back at it right away and did not allow the one-day binges to continue into a weekend, or weeklong binge. Down 84.5 pounds since I started this journey.

Exercise was different for me this month as well. The doctor asked that complete non weight bearing exercises, so no real walking. My strength, cardio, stretch, and steps were all done in the chair most of the month. I did get the green light to start up again at the end of the month and am slowly transitioning from chair to standing.

Now for the good news – I reached the 1,500-mile marker on my quest to walk 2,024 miles in 2024, logging about 150 miles in July (mostly seated). I found a place on my Garmin app which gives me the total intentional exercise time – so much easier for me to track my second goal which was 2,024 miles of intentional exercise (I count 20 minutes as a mile). I was previously doing it on an excel spreadsheet – which probably wasn’t too accurate. With this new calculation I am at 1,181 miles to date – just where I should be to complete it for the year. I can do it.

There are a lot of obstacles in my way for the month of August. Family picnic this weekend, followed by my birthday, then a three-day girl’s trip to Turning Stone Casino, and then finally a three-day trip for my wedding anniversary. With that in mind am going to keep the same goal as July – a 2% loss. Yes, I would love to see that ideal number (3.5 pounds), but that dangling carrot hasn’t helped me with my goals, so am going to shoot for that in September when it is much more reachable. It is also break time for both the Hogwarts and BLC challenges – so need to motivate myself – not as easy to do.

I have thought a lot about what my final goal should be. My initial goal was five pounds under the ideal range or 135 pounds. But when I look at myself, I still do not see fit. So am adjusting it to 100-pound loss or January 8, 2025 (my two-year starting date) whichever comes first.

    My Goals for August:

    • 2% loss for the month (about 2.5 pounds)
    • Alternate Cardio and Strength
    • Average 11K Steps per day
    • Continue Physical Therapy Knee exercise – every other day
    • Reduce Calories Gained by Exercise to 25% of earned

My Before and After for July

    ldfkboqhv5kl.png

    👣 📝 🥗 💪🦵 🧘‍♀️ 🫀 💦 🧂

Aug 1: 142.8 😁 👣 📝 🥗 💪 💦 🧂 I'll never get it - didn't really do anything different - but a nice swish. Nothing exciting happening - end of the month is reflection and budget day so spent a good amount of time at the computer. I added a new goal this month - declutter - thinking one declutter thing a week. We'll see how that goes on my goal to become more minimalistic. My Aunt cancelled the family picnic that was planned for this weekend. My other Aunt is up from Florida and we were all going to get together - but it is supposed to rain all day so she cancelled. I'm sorry to see it because I haven't seen a couple of my cousins in a long time - but one less temptation this month is probably a good thing as August is filled with one to many for me.

Aug 2: 142.7 😁👣 📝 🥗 🦵🫀 💦 🧂Nice day yesterday, went out on the boat, a little dip in the water. I love our little lake (which only town resisdents can use). I counted the boats that were on the water - 2 boats, 1 jet ski, and a paddle board (plus us). My knee was feeling great yesterday, and I got in 17K steps. This was my daily goal pre knee injury so was so happy to see it. I'm feeling a little sore this morning though, so will curb it a little today.

Aug 3: 142.4 😁👣 📝 🥗 💪 💦 🧂Hot and Humid in Connecticut yesterday. Got our walk in, but was super sticky. We harvested our first pot of potatoes (we picked the little one to see how they were doing) and got seven good potatoes from the pot. Super happy with that. After a terrible garden year, it was nice to see some profits from our work. We talked about next year's garden and all we can seem to grown this year is tomatoes and potatoes (and ok arugula). Even the fruit trees - no apples, no pears - we do have peaches but the squirrels are taking them one by one before they are ripe. No big plans for today - it's also going to be a hot and humid one.

@cattherien - Oh no! How did he do in the crate? Sounds like Monty - but ours was at a VBRO. We rented a house in Florida for a month, my sister, her hubby and her pup came for a week of the trip. Monty was just a year old so, thought definitely wanted to play 24/7. Rex (my sister's dog) weighs all of 15 pounds soaking wet. I thought we should separate them while we were out because I didn't want Monty to hurt him. So we put Rex in their bedroom and Monty in mine. Well someone Rex got out and came to our bedroom door - Monty of course wanted to get out and Rex wanted to get in. Needless to say - it's a good thing we took the renter's insurance option. We travel with them a lot now - and never leave them apart. Rex is tired when we get home - but no problems with the places we stay.

@deepwoodslady Enjoy your time with DD and DGS. Your house with it's revolving door is such a pleasant thing to see. Even with all your renovations you still have them coming to visit a LOT. Shows how much love there is in your house! Be strong my friend. You can do it.

    @cinw1501 @andreajlnhe Welcome back!

@patti241 @canlfre921@brenM1985 Welcome to the group.

Hope I didn't miss anyone - but if so welcome to you too!

Hello to all the new members! I hope you guys like it here. It's a very warm, chatty group and very encouraging.

I'm Charlene, 59yo, 5'8", married 40 years to Allen, 6 kids, 9 grandkids, work as a caregiver for the elderly.

    August weight goal: 180
🥛= I met my water goal
✍️= I logged all my food
🧂= I stayed under my sodium limit
🧮= I stayed under my calorie limit
🥏= Disc golf (golf, but with a Frisbee)
    🚶= Steps (number)
    📚= I read at least 30 minutes

    Aug 1: 183.2 ✍️🧂🤦😬 🚶(5361)
    Aug 2: 183.4 🥛✍️ 🚶(4620)
    Aug 3: 182.5 🥛✍️🚶....? 📚 😀

A nice no-reason whoosh. 🎉 I was a little over on salt and calories again yesterday. I didn't put my steps in and added a ? because I wasn't sure I could trust my step count from my Amazfit smart watch; so I put my phone intentionally in my pocket or in my hand when walking, and had Google Fit open, and compared step count.

    Watch: 4751
    Fit: 2862

Wow, big difference! I'm leaning more toward trusting the Google Fit step count. But in all fairness, I didn't have precise location turned on for my watch but it is turned on for Fit; so I did turn that on for the watch this morning, and I'll give it a couple more days to compare, and then decide. I wear my watch on my dominant wrist, so I'm guessing some of the step count is just arm movement; I did my gel backfill on my nails yesterday, which means a lot of arm movement with a nail file. It's also possible the watch gyro is just subpar. If that's the case and I need to use Google Fit, I may have to get one of those belt clips for my phone if I'm going to do it that way, because not all my pants/slacks/skirts have pockets. Old lady nerdify, I guess. Another option is to just research basic pedometers. Or just use my watch but only count 50% of steps. Decisions, decisions.

@ilive2walk oh shoot, at a VRBO! That had to have been a big shock when you guys got back! I'm glad you had the insurance, too [phew]. Looks like you guys figured it out though, and that the two dogs actually do better when left together rather than separated.

Oliver handled the crate just fine. Well, lemme rephrase that: he was resigned to going into the crate when I put him there. And he didn't eat my house again. So it's a win. His "Grandma" picked him up last night. I do enjoy having him. But, I'm also glad he went home, and I have that stress of his emotional well-being while I'm at work, off my shoulders.

@deepwoodslady good for you on the smaller snacking - progress! I'm sorry you've got no AC, will that be something you're going to have installed? Or is it already there, but because of all the people going in-and-out, you have it turned off so that it isn't running constantly?

@ozdeelite hey, I see that scale drop! Good job. 🎉

@cattherien My house was not equipped with central air when I bought it a couple of years ago. I've never bothered with purchasing a window air unit, seems to cumbersome. I recently looked into an HVAC company that quoted me over $10,000 to install my 3200 sq foot home. I have too many projects and places that need that $10,000 more so it definitely won't be this year. I'll just have to make it through with the multiple fans. I'll be okay. I'm well-equipped because I actually grew up quite poor even if I have been a little spoiled since. :)

Aug 4: 142.5 👣 📝 🥗🦵🫀 💦 🧂One of my spare bedrooms has my treadmill in it and a weight machine. We had a twin sized bed in there as well (it was Allyson's room way back when). Finally decided to get rid of the bed. Also cleaned out the bureau - now the bureau is empty (going to move some things from my bedroom to make it so my closet isn't stuffed) and we moved the ab chair into the room. Threw away a big bag of stuff, another big bag going to good will and a couple bags of stuff for Allyson to go through. If she doesn't want it another two bags to goodwill. Now it is truely a workout room. 😊

    Hi, I'm Jill! <3
I'm 54 and have been married 28 years. I have 2 children-- a son who is 23 and a daughter who is 19. I work full-time selling new construction homes, and I absolutely love it! Yardwork is also one of my favorite things to do...from grass cutting to weed wacking...if I can be outside, I will be playing in the yard.

This is the month that I’ll get below 208 pounds. I can feel it!

    August 01: 209.8
    August 02: 209.4
August 03: 210.0 my daughter moves back to college tomorrow… happy for her, but sad for me. I will miss seeing her everyday.
    August 04: 210 moving day is here… 😁😌🙃🥰

    Hi,
I'm Cindy. I'm 50, 5'4" and 159.6 as of Aug 1st. Lost 4.6 lbs in July. I didn't quite reach my goal weight for July, but I was close. I have fought with the same 10lbs for the last year.
So my doctor wants to put me on Wegovy or Zepbound. Between the cost and doing a little research, I don't think its a great solution for me. Looks like it might be a rest of life commitment. No thank you!

Started at the gym 7/3. Been going 5 days a week. Missed a few days due to life.

I see my doctor again at the end of August, so I want to loose at least 10 lbs by then to prove I can do it without meds. My ultimate goal is 135 lbs.

    Starting weight: 164.2 (July 1, 2024)
    August starting weight: 159.6
    August goal weight: 155

Aug 1st - 159.6 :) - Used the rowing machine at the gym for the first time. My friend and I liked it. Why aren't more people using it. No one is ever on it.
Aug 2nd - 160  - Probably the few bites of cookies I had after dinner last night. My daughter wanted Crumble Cookie. How could I say no after the crazy week we have had?
    Aug 3rd - 160
Aug 4th - 160.4 :( - not paying attention to what I ate yesterday and ate dinner late. Need to work harder this week on what I am putting in my mouth. Last week was a little crazy and I was trying to feed a bunch of young adults. Needed quick, cheap, and easy.

    August weight goal: 180
🥛= I met my water goal
✍️= I logged all my food
🧂= I stayed under my sodium limit
🧮= I stayed under my calorie limit
🥏= Disc golf (golf, but with a Frisbee)
    🚶= Steps (number)
    📚= I read at least 30 minutes

    Aug 1: 183.2 ✍️🧂🤦😬 🚶(5361)
    Aug 2: 183.4 🥛✍️ 🚶(4620)
    Aug 3: 182.5 🥛✍️🚶....? 📚 😀
    Aug 4: 182.9 🥛✍️🚶📚

🚶 Google fit said 1606 steps, smart watch said 4149. I went to work yesterday, so I *know* that Fit number is off, because I was on my feet for 3 hours. 🤔

I did quite a bit of f-it with my calories and salt yesterday. Frustrated with how much salt is in so many foods, and I let myself go into all-or-nothing thinking by 3pm. I'm not sure what's going on with me, because that's not normally how I behave. I don't usually give in to the f-it emotions - but yet I did that a number of times in July, too. So I think some of it might be emotional negativity about saying no to food. When I did keto/low carb in 2017-2018, it was successful and I did reach my goal weight but there was a LOT of saying no. It also made me feel sad. I felt deprived. So I'm not going back to that plan. Now that I need to watch my salt, the limit feels similar to how I felt about the carbs limit on keto [I wasn't watching salt back then, just carbs]. So... yeah, I need to do some reflecting on this on paper, and get my head out of my nether regions.

    @deepwoodslady yay downward trajectory!

@jm216 aww, it's hard when they head back to their colleges. 🫶 Summer seems so short and never enough time together. ❤️

@ilive2walk hooray workout room! Also, congrats on this week's de-stashing. 🎉🎉

My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 64 years old and from Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

08/03-188.4-(Trend Weight 189.9)- I feel like its back to the drawing board with the weight since I’ve landed back at starting weight. At least my trend is turning downward. Hey, you got to grab them nuggets whenever and wherever you can, right? Have a lovely Saturday ya’ll.

08/04-189.2-(Trend Weight 189.8)- We went to a Casino yesterday to celebrate my oldest DGS’ 18th birthday. It was one of the few casinos that allow an 18 year old in to gamble. My son and I lost about $250.00 over several hours but we had fun. The birthday boy was very conservative with his money and did much better than the rest of us. I was happy it was a fun experience for him. He had brought along a best friend. Both breakfast and dinner was out with the whole gang so it’s showing up on the scale today. However, my trend weight is still inching down so I am going to try to plan, as best as I can with DD and DGS here, to have a good low calorie, low carb healthy day. I want to hurry and get back on track before my trend weight notices that I strayed.

Prelogged my day and if I stick to it should still end up with a deficit. Cleaned out the closet in the workout room - another two bags to goodwill.
